I can't believe that no one has reviewed this hotel before. Having driven by it so many times, I was skeptical when my husband said he booked it for our stay in Bardstown. But we had seen a review of it on YouTube and I thought it was worth a shot. It's a mid-century themed lodge that has been tastefully renovated. So firstly, it is every bit as charming and clean as all of the pictures. I used one or two of BML's site pics so you could see how cute it is since there are no other pics on Yelp yet. The beds were so comfortable- like one of the most comfortable beds of all the places and Airbnbs that I've stayed in. The rooms are a great size and, again, it's so clean and charming. Staff is super friendly. There is the most adorable outdoor/ courtyard area where they light fires, have adirondack chairs, and have an indoor area where there is a couch, tv, and bar. You can bring your bourbon score of the day and come have a drink by the fire and roast marshmallows and eat s'mores (s'mores cost $5 tho). It's seriously so cute and cozy. I would stay here again in a minute. Only cons that I could come up with is- I'd maybe prefer a more modern shower, there is a decent amount of noise from the main road, and I would have given this place 6 stars if the s'mores came complimentary with the room. But overall, we were so pleased with this place.

We were unable to order dinner as the barkeep informed us the restaurant was booked with several large groups and the kitchen couldn't handle our group of 5. He was very helpful with providing info for other local restaurants as alternatives, which was very helpful and appreciated. Drinks and apps (fried green tomatoes) were great and service was friendly. Bar area was also comfortable and noise level was mild at 5 PM on a weekday.

The atmosphere alone is worth the stop -- you can truly feel the history the moment you walk in, from the preserved architecture to the well-kept interior spaces that make the tavern feel both authentic and welcoming. The food is just as impressive. There's a delicious variety on the menu, with something for everyone, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes you get. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. One of the highlights is the famous Jesse James Room, which adds a unique historical touch to your visit. Knowing the stories tied to the tavern while you dine really makes the experience stand out from anywhere else. Between the great food, fair prices, friendly service, and the incredible history behind the building, Talbott Tavern delivers on every level. Highly recommend for both locals and visitors looking for a true Bardstown experience!

When we…read morefirst arrived, we were charmed by the historic feel of the place and also pleased with the amenities. Nice bathroom and furnishings. The owners added hospitality by having a full coffee service, snacks, and some cereal for a light breakfast. The house is also right on the central circle in Bardstown, so walking to restaurants was very convenient. However, this house is right on the main thoroughfare in Bardstown, and less than 50 ft from the road. The constant traffic noise made it very difficult to sleep, as the bed is located right next to the window facing the street. On Saturday, the noise was constant until after 2:30 am and on Sunday the noise did not abate until after 12:30 am. Each morning the noise started again about 6 am. This was a constant barrage of loud mufflers, pickups and diesel trucks. There is also a traffic light out on the street so we heard these noisy vehicles accelerating from the light. If you have an issue with noise at night I recommend that you investigate other properties. This room, with taxes and fees, was over $200 per night and I don't feel we got that type of value

The staff is wonderful and treated us with the greatest hospitality. The rooms are extremely cozy and warm. Our bed was so comfortable that we were able to easily nap on it in the evening and then sleep all through the night. The pillows are also extremely comfortable. It is very quiet in this hotel, which is something that we definitely appreciate it as that may not always happen. Even though I know that could be out of the hands of the hotel staff. In the morning, we walked down to breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food they offered for us to eat. I was even happy that they have Coffee-mate creamer to the tables where you get your coffee. I was excited about the Coffee-mate creamer, so it was a personal perk of mine. There is a woman who works there. I think her name is Penny. But I observed her as she walked around and offered assistance to every single person who walked into the breakfast area. She is a woman maybe in her late forties or early fifties. She has medium brown hair and glasses. She even offered to make a woman's waffle for her. Her goal this morning was to accommodate everyone she encountered. When I talked to her about the breakfast and how good it was, she told me that Yolanda was the one who gets up and makes all the breakfast and works hard to ensure that everyone has a good breakfast in the morning. The only thing we were disappointed in was the listing says there is a bar and lounge. But when we walked last night to look for one, the young man at the front desk said there wasn't one. We just walked across the street to the pepperoni place and sat in their bar and still had a great time.

I was in the upstairs corner Lincoln Suite and the stone walls are thick and several layers of draperies contribute to the quietude. Although the building is old, many modernized remodels have been completed. However, do not expect an up-to-date type space. For example, there is a slight step up into the bathroom. The door to the room also rattled whenever someone else closed a door elsewhere .... Or maybe that was Lincoln's ghost? I was too tired to fret about it and slept well. Would recommend staying here at least once for a unique experience. Breakfast was included in the room rate. Menu is in the room to contemplate ahead of time. Went down to the dining area prior to my check out and had a nice dining experience. Ordered the Traditional Breakfast option and it was well prepared and satisfying, so overall also a great value. There is also a Keurig coffeemaker in the room. Staff are all very welcoming and proficient. Parking was free next to the property.

We had looked at the historic rooms at the nearby Tavern (our reason for visiting), but decided not to take our chance on stairs we'd have to negotiate to get to a room. However, the Inn has a very large and convenient elevator, so that's the place we chose. (Note: the elevator is very slow...but what's the rush?) The reception desk and area is small but adequate with odds and ends of tchotchkes for sale. Receptionist was very polite. Our room was spacious! And...I mean bigger than the photos represent and much larger than we imagined. Large comfy bed, plenty of soft and medium pillows, fridge, microwave, chairs to lounge, relax, or read. Complementary bottles of water, coffee and coffee maker. All nice touches. And thermostat was easy to adjust. Bathroom was fine, clean, well-stocked with one notable exception, which we find in nearly every hotel we stay in these days: No towel rods to hang wet towels or wash cloths. That is, except one hook high up on the back of the bathroom door. (Virtually out of reach for my wife. We find this an unreasonable inconvenience in all our travels....(so only a half point deduction here.) Windows provided beautiful views of the square and were seemingly well-insulated....so no terrible traffic noises to keep us awake during the night. (OK...A few trucks in the morning, but not too early.) All-in-all we give this lodging very high marks and our solid recommendation. Oh, and very reasonably priced to boot!

I'm not overly picky but every aspect of this experience was just barely okay. The room was clean enough. The bed sheet was sideways and inside out which is a problem for a king size bed. We had to remake it. The blow dryer was encrusted and sticky. The mattress was okay but not great and the bed frame was cheap and extremely creaky. The towels were the cheapest possible. We couldn't move the shower head from its position. There was an aftermarket bidet (yup you read that right) which was appreciated and the tv service offered many choices which was good. It is a short walk to downtown which was nice. You get what you pay for.
