I have been a part of the BFPY community for about 6 months now and I love their heated yoga classes - it is the perfect temperature (not too hot and not too cool). When the COVID-19 shut down the city, the studio quickly moved the classes to online so that we can continue our yoga practice and stay connected as a community. I'm a fan of Bare Feet Power Yoga. Since moving to West Loop from Los Angeles a few months ago, I searched around the neighborhood for a local studio with a great vibe and Bare Feet Power Yoga delivers. The teachers are all so friendly and awesome. They have cultivated quite a community followers. Each teacher has a very different style and approach to yoga. I've found that so refreshing because yoga is so organic and I can choose to follow a teacher whose style I like. There are so many classes offered throughout the day that's it's always easy to find a class for my schedule. The only thing holding me back from given them an additional star is really around some polish larger studios have mastered. Things like they tend to overbook themselves and, not having a large space, you may find yourself unexpectedly swimming in a sea of mats without much room to move. Though all-in-all it's an awesome local studio. There are are great people teaching a good, hands-on practice and a friendly vibe. I highly recommend it! read more

I'm not a yoga pro by any means but I've done a bit here and there. The studio is nice and I love the hot concept. It's on the small side and some classes get packed...so packed that your head might actually be in someone else's ass. I will say this place is not for beginners. They say "all levels welcome" but every class I attended the "teacher" just called out poses without any explanation. So if I didn't know the pose I'd have to look around at others to figure out what to do. I also felt that a lot of the classes were much faster paced that I'm used to. By the time I got into a pose it was past time to move onto the next one. Even the basics class felt more advanced. These classes are more for people that are already well versed in yoga. The "teacher", or class leader as I feel is a better description, basically just walks around leading you into different poses so if you're sure you're doing them correctly then this place is great. I'm not that great at yoga so I like more of a hands on instructed class. read more

I did the introductory month here, and the classes are not your ordinary yoga classes! Instructors kept the classes moving at a fast pace. I definitely felt challenged in the classes, in a good way! So the class portion gets 4 stars for me. The only downfall is...the space! It was packed mat to mat almost every time I would go. I'm all for getting to know my fellow yoga-mates, but I do enjoy my space from their sweat. If you're ok with it, then I'd recommend this place! read more

I took the Shut Up and Flow Class this week. Seriously the hardest and toughest yoga class that I've ever been to but it was absolutely amazing! I left the class feeling super refreshed and just all around great and awesome. Classes are all heated at around 90 degrees so you definitely build up a sweat. They also fill up super quickly so I recommend getting there a bit early and snagging a spot before you're crowding around everyone else. A star taken off because I didn't think this class is too friendly if you're a beginner at all. Also they very much have a very strong community vibe here and as a newcomer I did not feel the most welcome and almost like I was intruding. But the class was truly so awesome that I'll definitely be returning regardless! read more

Julianne is the most amazing yoga teacher. She has incredible energy and creates a beautiful atmosphere for a soul-feeding Yin & Zen class. This is the only class I attend at this studio as I live far, but any chance I can make it I do. I highly recommend Yin & Zen on Thursday nights!! read more

I can't believe it's taken me this long to review the studio that made me fall in love with Yoga! Sure, I'd done a yoga sculpt here and a yoga sculpt there, but it wasn't enough for me to truly understand what it meant to practice. I used to be the person who obsessed over cardio/weights and wouldn't embrace any mind/body format. My husband is very much into yoga and was trying a few studios around the neighborhood (the West Loop is the BEST LOOP). He took one class at Bare Feet and he couldn't wait to get me in the door with him. Every class I have been to, even the basics class, has challenged me just the right amount. The temperature in the studio is perfect and I love the size of the room. Call me crazy but I enjoy practicing close to other people so we can sync our breath together and I can send them my good energy. The instructors I have had so far, I have loved: Robin, Ali, and Erin, have been phenomenal. I cannot explain the type of power yoga I have experienced in this space. When a group of people come together with a common goal and there is no other motive than to inspire, to help others grow and to spread love, it is obvious and people pick up on it. That is how I feel whenever I set (bare)foot in this space! If you're at all into Yoga or have thought of trying it, definitely try Bare Feet. OH and if you're also a dude and like working out with other dudes, Robin's Monday night 7pm class has lots of guys. read more

I found out about Bare Feet Power Yoga through a Living Social coupon which gave you 10 classes for $39.99 at the end of last year. I pussyfooted around and when my coupon was set to expire, finally went to a class. My core is not as strong as it should and I had never done yoga minus a demonstration class somewhere in the past. I declared 2013 would by "The Year of Yoga" and picked the hardest class "Rock Your Core". It kicked my ass! I went one more time for another class, got my ass kicked, and stayed away until August determined to get into the spirit. The classes at Barefeet Power Yoga are meant to be challenging to your mind, body, and spirit. The place is heated 90-93 degrees and its vinyasa - movements go with inhalations and exhalations. I have been coming faithfully now for 3 months and I am addicted. I am still scared as shit before every class, but I come. For anyone wanting hands on instruction, step by step, this is not the studio for you...shame on you for wanting it anyway. Robin, the owner is amazing, so is Ali. They are friendly, warm, and will tell you anything you want to know about yoga. I love how encouraging they are. Also, I hear about other studios being the lululemon posers. Well, glad I never ran into that, because this studio, mostly everyone is focused on getting better at their practice. Pushing yourself, even if you fall, is encouraged. The studio is small and fits about 25 people in it. Yes, it can be a tight fit, but bumping into your neighbors is encouraged, which I like. There are mats, towels, yoga towels all for rent. There is also drinks as well. Come early for class if you want to get a spot in class you like. At the time class starts, the doors close too, so come at least 10-15 minutes early. This place has changed my life for the better, and I love Robin, Ali, and the rest of the good folks at BFPY for it. read more

One of my favorite yoga studios in the city and hands down, my favorite hot yoga studio. When I lived in the west loop, I unfortunately only discovered this place with two months left on my lease. Loved every class and actually wanted to go to every class! I have yet to find a replacement in my current neighborhood (fingers crossed for my next neighborhood). Word of warning, you will get pretty close to your neighbor. It's not their fault they're popular...well it is, but...unlike other hot yoga classes, you won't be dying of heat exhaustion or nursing an injury for months after. I love so many things about this yoga studio. First off, it is nice that every class is heated. I prefer this, as it easier to move into poses when your muscles are warm. Erin is one of the friendliest, welcoming, and most enthusiastic yoga teachers I've ever taken. You can tell she really loves yoga, and wants you to have the best overall experience - mind, body and spirit. Thumbs up for the incense burning when you walk in! They are adding some new classes for April, as well as a variety of workshops to further explore your yoga prowess. The class times are all very reasonable as well, convenient for before work or after. Excited to try their 30 days of yoga for $30 new student special soon. At Barefeet I am genuinely excited to practice yoga (even a semi beginner) because I know I will have an amazing, solid class. read more

I like to yoga yoga. I like to yoga yoga. I like to......YOGA. (Pardon, I had way to much coffee this morning). I have been coming to Bare Feet Power Yoga for 4 months and I love it. A little background. I have never practiced yoga. Like ever. I went to a chiropractor for some lower back pain and she said "you should really try yoga". So off I went in search of a yoga studio in my neighborhood. Bare Feet Power Yoga is located in the West Loop right next to a mani/pedi place. How convenient (: I was kind of nervous going to my first class. I thought I would be surrounded my flexible yoga masters that would mock my inflexibility. Boy was I wrong. From the moment I walked into the door I was made to feel welcome and a part of the group. I was told to laugh, have fun and not take myself too seriously. Okedoke! Over 4 months, I am now a yoga addict. I try to go 4 times a week. I have gone to every type of class with every instructor. ALL of the classes and instructors are fabulous. They each bring their own personality and flow to the class, so it is never mundane and routine. My fave class is the 8:00 pm Thursday class. It is never that crowded and it is a more restorative, slow paced flow. The studio itself is darling. Bright colors, mats and towels for rent. Water and other yoga gear to purchase. Oh, and there is a cute dog yoga calender that hangs in the front that I adore. Different dogs in yoga poses. How can that not make you smile. BFPY is nothing short of the best yoga studio in the city. Robin and her crew of well-trained, passionate, hilarious, and dedicated teachers always keep me on my toes while simultaneously helping me to deepen my practice and laugh at the same time. Every workshop, special event, and class I have attended has been top notch. I've even learned to love their philosophy of "the more the merrier" (it can get quite crowded in there with rows crowded mat to mat but it's actually quite fun!). The other great thing about this place is the people it draws and the community they have created. Robin has a big crowd of "regulars" who have been there for a while and it's not the cookie cutter crowd of typical skinny white girl yogis. This places accepts people of all shapes and sizes and I feel blessed to be a part of it. read more

Bare Feet was the first studio I became a member of while living in Chicago and man o man do I miss it so! I've been in LA for 1.5 years and admit I have lost the regularity of my practice because I can't find a place that has all the qualities I loved about BFPY! I loved the cozy studio, the lack of mirrors (when I went to a studio with mirrors I totally lost my breath and was judging myself in my head too much), no corporate shenanigans, great teachers who know YOGA, concentrate on breath and remember your name and can keep a flow that keeps the body moving. It was all so great & nothing is coming close here in LA. Also I went here as a fairly new yogi & didn't know the names of poses but you really learn the best by diving in and going at your own pace but watching other people. read more

I am in Chicago for a few days and just took the Slow Flow class taught by Erin as a drop in. The studio is in a small storefront space, yet it accommodates a cheerful lobby and bigger than you would imagine studio. There is a bathroom and a changing area. There is not a shower, yet I was able to clean up enough after class to spend the rest of the day downtown. Erin's class was AMAZING! Perfect for what I needed today. "Slow Flow" does not mean less intense or no sweat. There were plenty of planks and balances. I felt like I got a great all around work out. The best part was the sequencing and poses were really creative while still making sense. The order of everything felt great for me. Erin also did some really nice hands on adjustments and seemed to get around to helping everyone without stopping the flow of the class. Thanks for a great class, Erin!! read more

I've done a lot of different yoga. This studio was wonderful. Instructor/owner Robin is organized, friendly, down to earth. The vibe is very welcoming. They have clients of all abilities, and make sure to let you know about modifications for certain poses. Classes have a good combination of emphasis on fitness, but they don't leave out the relaxation and mindfulness like some other studios I have been to. It is hot, so I would try it a few times to make sure that you like the hot environment if you haven't tried it before. Initially I hated it, but eventually looked forward to it, and I was definitely more flexible. They lock the door before they start the class. It is nice because there are no interruptions, but you can't come if you are running late. I did a group on deal, and it was great. I can't afford to move on to the regular membership, so I'll miss it! dearly I agree with some of the interviews, there aren't too many time slots, but I am hoping they will have some more classes added as this place grows! read more

I absolutely love this place. I'm a highly inflexible runner, and I do yoga so I can work on my strength and flexibility and help prevent me from getting injured because of all of the running I do. I've been to lots of different yoga classes, and no studio has made me feel as welcome and challenged as BFPY does. Despite my inability to do some poses, I never feel out of place in this studio (like I have in others). The instructors are all so helpful, knowledgeable and nice, and the classes are hot and very challenging!! I highly, highly recommend this place for those new to yoga, or people like me, who can be intimidated by yoga studios. There's a great mix of experience and inexperience in every class, so no matter how long you've been practicing, you'll fit right in. A few notes: 1. Get there early! The room isn't that big, so make sure you arrive in time to get the spot in the room you want, as it can get crowded. 2. The first few classes, I didn't have a yoga mat towel. I was using a regular beach towel, and I was slipping and sliding all over my mat. I saw a bunch of other people using yoga mat specific towels, so I purchased one ($25 on amazon.com) and it really has made all the difference in the world. It doesn't matter how much I sweat, my mat towel stays in place, and so does my downward facing dog. read more

It took me a year to get the courage & motivation to check out Bare Feet, & now that I've tried two sessions (Basics & Hot Power) I can say that I'll never go to another yoga studio again...unless I'm out of town! I'm not an avid yogi, but I might become one now. So far I've met Amanda, who taught the Basics class, & Robin, the owner of Bare Feet who taught the Hot Power class. THE STAFF: Amanda & Robin were incredibly friendly. I exchanged a few emails with Robin in advance of attending my first class. Some of the other Yelp reviews made me wonder if my limited yoga skills would prevent me from participating in her classes, & so I reached out to her about taking a private lesson or two to brush up on my knowledge of the poses. She was very encouraging but didn't put any pressure on me one way or the other. THE STUDIO: It's small, but I didn't mind it. And I actually preferred that there were no mirrors on the wall unlike other studios that I've been to. It helped me keep my mind on doing my best & relaxing, but not LOOKING the best in the pose. THE CLASSES: I decided to bite the bullet & try a Basics class just to see if I could keep up. Prior to Bare Feet, my only exposure to yoga was for a few months at CorePower. I took 1 - 2 classes per week for three-ish months about two years ago. Luckily, the poses came back to me & I was able to follow the flow of the class. It didn't go too fast, either, which was great because I was super rusty! The class made me pretty sore after nine months of being sedentary :) The Hot Power class is much faster paced than Basics, but it wasn't a bad thing. I also remembered most of the poses from before, with the exception of a few, but Robin helped me adjust. So, having taken two classes I will agree with some of the other reviews on here now. If you have absolutely no yoga experience then you will probably find the classes move quickly & are confusing. But no one at this studio will care if you have to stare at them to figure out what pose is what & how to get in to position. What makes Bare Feet SO MUCH BETTER than my past yoga experience is the staff & the people. Everyone was so kind to me, & I didn't feel like anyone was "competing" with me either. Maybe I was too hard on myself in the past, but at other studios I have felt like it was a "see & be seen" atmosphere, & that the other yogis were out to prove something. At Bare Feet, it was all about relaxing & enjoying yourself. No one cared or smirked that I fell over in Tree Pose about three times! I can't wait to try more of their classes & become further ingrained in this great community. read more

I legitimately love this yoga studio. I can honestly say it is the most fun I have ever had in a yoga class. All of the teachers are super fun, knowledgeable, and have their own unique styles. The classes are so much fun, while challenging me every time I attend class. The reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 is that sometimes the room gets so cramped (which is fun because then it gets super sweaty and there's a ton of good energy!) that it is hard to get into a pose properly, and I wish that there were more hands-on adjustments, as I have experienced at other studios. First off the best rental yoga mat I have ever practiced on! I took a lovely mid morning class that was both creative, challenging and restorative. A drop in is $17 or three classes for $30 and a mat rental is free for your first class. The studio isn't too small or too large, very Three Little Bears. I have lived a block away from Bare Feet, but haven't gotten to go yet. When they first opened their schedule was too limited to find a class that worked, and then I had an unlimited membership at core power, so the stars were never aligned. A Bloomspot deal came up, I took full advantage and tried them out. THE STUDIO: cute, clean and efficient and everyone was super friendly. They rent mats, and towels and sell water and Zico ($2). My only complaint is that they don't have a shower. After hot and super sweaty yoga, it's absolutely necessary for me to shower off-- so it will be impossible for me to go about my day straight from Bare Feet. THE CLASS: woah.my.HARD. Not challenging as far as crazy inversions weird poses no one does and totally suitable for beginners, but HARD. I have been doing yoga for over 10 years, 3 times a week... so it's not like this is my first rodeo. This class was one of the most phisically challenging classes I have ever taken. Hard is a sweet, sweaty way. I will definitely be back! read more

I had never tried hot yoga until I noticed a yelp deal for this neighborhood gem. The two words hot and yoga together can be really intimidating, but the teachers at Bare Feet Power Yoga make the experience worth the hot sweaty mess I become afterwards. The teachers are great and cater to every yoga level. They are energetic and extremely welcoming. The teachers can make any nervous yogi feel welcomed. There is just one room for all the classes, which at times can be a little cramped. Being squished in with other yogis, however, can make the experience less intimidating. It also gives you a sense of community. Bottom line Bare Feet Power Yoga is fabulous for all yoga levels. It's a way to have fun while getting that workout in. read more

I live in Portland and regularly do hot yoga. I was very happy when I was in Chicago visiting a friend and she scheduled a class for me at Bare Feet Power Yoga. Their studio isn't as warm as most of the places I usually go but they make up for that with a super fast flow to get your heart rate pumping. This was the only studio that I've ever gone to that doesn't have mirrors inside. I found that a little weird because I couldn't check out my form. They have one bathroom but no showers, perhaps that is why they don't get super hot. The staff was very friendly and made me feel right at home! read more

I started going to Bare Feet Power Yoga in May 2013 as a way to supplement my endurance running training regiment. Within my first few classes I knew that I had made the right decision. Since then, I've consistently attended classes and the benefits are very noticeable. I've shattered my previous 5K, half-marathon and marathon times, and successfully completed my first ultramarathon. I feel better, recover faster, sleep better, and have a clearer head. Robin is an excellent instructor, and her sunny disposition is a great way to start the day. But don't let her incandescent smile fool you. Her classes are not for the timid. Her brand of Hot Power Yoga is a full body workout that builds strength, flexibility, endurance, and focus. I've tried a variety of yoga types over the years, but none have had the full range of benefits for me like Robin's classes have. I attribute this in part to Robin's experience as an endurance athlete, and her understanding of the aches, pains, soreness, and stiffness that come from running great distances. The classes are also very accommodating for varying skill-levels. I'm far from the most advanced yogi (can't even do a decent crow pose), but Robin always suggests modifications and options for everyone from the greenest beginner to the most advanced students. Every student can work at their level and enjoy the full range of benefits. It's your practice, so there's no reason to feel judged or insecure because you can't hit a certain pose exactly right. So, whether you are a beginner or an expert, I encourage you to get your butt into Bare Feet and give it a shot. You won't be disappointed. read more

I started going to Bare Feet Yoga about a month ago. Although I workout frequently, I hadn't participated in yoga in probably 4 years. As a result, I was a bit nervous to go thinking I would feel out of place compared to all of the other Yogis or that I simply wouldn't be able to keep up. Robin, the owner, was extremely welcoming. She gave me the rundown of what would take place in class and made me feel comfortable immediately. The class was incredibly challenging but I loved it.
