Well, the best thing about Barefoot is the outdoor space. I mean they even bring in palm trees! The seating and bar space is large. There are a lot of docks too. The food definitely leaves a lot to be desired. It's basic nachos, brats, etc. Items that lack flavor and are easy to make. This is such a great place and a must go to for anyone visiting! Although it is packed all the time we were able to find a great table quickly, and a server approached us before we could even walk up to the bar to order. The staff is very friendly and helpful, we didn't say anything about a messed up drink but they replaced it as the bartender realized on their own they had poured the wrong drink. I have never been so disappointed in a "family friendly place". The servers all sit around the bar while they have a ton of tables to serve and the food hut is beyond rude. There were barely any people and somehow 5 orders took an hour. I will never come back and support a business who doesn't recognize when they are delaying everyone's day and one of the young college kids was even rude to my mom. We were so disappointed in the Barefoot Bar. Their drink service and drinks were great we must say (the strawberry margarita was good and service friendly) The food was HORRENDOUS. You order at the counter and they were out of ribs and brisket. There was food sitting waiting to be picked up with flys swirling around it and walking over it and the employees were joking around in the kitchen. We got a BBQ pork meal and it was like it was made at a high school concession stand. The nachos tasted pretty good but were not great quality. My girlfriend and her family stopped by the Barefoot Bar for a drink this past weekend. I ordered a frozen wine, (froze, I know), but all of their special drinks had grapefruit in them and I don't like grapefruit so I buckled under the pressure. BUT, it was actually pretty tasty. There was a live band that wasn't too bad but during certain parts of their set, they would put the microphone in a patron's face and the patron would see completely off key and it was pretty bad, lol, which kind of killed the vibe a bit. Worst representation of my home state outside of Florida. Premixed frozen drinks are awful. You taste nothing as far as alcohol, but all sugar. I got a pee warm west okoboji red, I love their beers, just not warm. The food, what a joke!! My wife got a turkey sandwich that was literally Oscar Moyer deli meat with a slice of white American cheese on it. Kicker: it's the most expensive sandwich on the menu!! I got the brisket sandwich and it was trash. Here's the worst thing though... I watched our bartender make a guy a Bloody Mary. When she went to to put the vegetable garnishes in it, she decided to mix it after that and dumped all the garnishments onto the filthy bar mat, she picked them right up off the bar and stuck them Right back in his drink. Following an afternoon excursion on Lake Okoboji on the Queen II, my son, Gayle and I decided to stop for a drink at the Barefoot Bar on our way home to the cottage. It's located within the Parks Marina and it's a little tricky to find your way and park once you reach the sign. The Barefoot Bar is large, is nice decked out in a Tiki theme, and with a little shade from a readily available umbrella, offers a scenic, comfortable, and relaxing experience. And by California standards, the drink prices were almost cheap. I especially appreciated the availability of swimming and other play options for my son, while Gayle and I were enjoying our drinks and eating his portion of the nachos. We came too early for any entertainment, but the Barefoot Bar offers a full schedule of music and other recreational options (such as the Dock Hop). I also came away admiring the hard working entrepreneurial genius of the owner - Butch Parks, who I have never met and whose hard headed Okoboji zoning adventures will be touched on in my upcoming review of the Okoboji Boatworks. Not only does he execute a great customer focused and employee-friendly business model, but combining it with a sometimes low-margin maritime business, brings a whole new meaning to making a "Boat Load" of money. read more

Its a bar. We decided to head here after a day of boating. The food was concession style, so we had to order at a window, despite being seated by a waitress and giving our drink order. So a bit odd, but the food was good. The BbQ seemed homemade, and the drinks came in keepsake cups with funny sayings on them. For kids it is a perfect spot to stop. It had a playground readily available that kept the kids occupied, and had a lot of umbrellas to provide plenty of shade on a sunny day. Good all around. If you are going for a great dinner, this probably isn't your spot--otherwise, if you are looking for any of the above then Barefoot Bar is for you. Barefoot is a must on my list every time we are in town. It's just so pleasant sitting out and watching the boats in the lake. Again, it's a lively venue and just fun to be there. It kind of reminds me of a Margaritaville bar & restaurant. The drinks are good. Are they great--probably not. But they are good enough for what you need while sitting and enjoying the outside. I haven't ever ordered food here, but my friend says it's not that good. We go just for the drinks and scenery, and we love it. I took one star away because we did order waters, and they brought out warm bottled waters. It was a bummer to pay a few dollars for warm water. Other than that, we have always had great service here. Go for the fun, music, and atmosphere--and enjoy a drink or two of their famous frosty drinks. read more
