I like Snappers and the atmosphere of it is great. We have eaten there for Lunch and also Dinner up stairs. The service is good all the time and we really like the Boat up convenience. The food is not half bad but for the prices that they put things at the prestige of the food and the way it comes out is on par with eating at a carnival. I felt like lunch is a bit too much in price because of that. Dinner I won't touch on going to that, give it a shot yourself and if that sort of thing doesn't rub you wrong then I feel like you should try it out! It is still a good place, but I'm frugal and expect more if I pay more. read more

We were excited to try out Snappers in Okoboji, but unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We were told to seat ourselves, which we did, and then waited for over 15 minutes with no service at all. During that time, another couple came in after us and was promptly greeted and helped, while the staff--including waitresses and the bartender--continued to glance our way without ever acknowledging us. We tried to be patient, but after a while it became hard not to feel uncomfortable and overlooked. I truly hate to assume the worst, but when you're being clearly ignored while others are being served, it's hard not to wonder if race played a part. Sadly, we ended up leaving without ever being spoken to. We won't be returning, and I hope this is something the management takes seriously. read more

We have taken some of our friends there for the chicken that we were told would be served daily. We got there last night and was told chicken only on Sunday. They had 2 specials for the evening listed and they were same price as on the normal menu. Not a special that's for sure! We'd had shrimp nachos the week before so ordered them again and instead of 5 large shrimp we got about 6 tiny shrimp and very little white cheese! Big disappointment. We went here Saturday for lunch. We went with a local friend who told us that they are short handed. The bartender and one server were working the whole front of the house. We were not in a hurry and gave it a shot. The server was pleasant and did her best. Our food didn't take a long time to come out. I got the fish and chips. It's not quite what I was expecting, but it was very good. The fillet was a big piece rather than smaller sticks of fish. The fries were good and I had two Pain in the asses to wash it all down. Over all it was a good experience for us, but I know another table left, due to lack of service. If you go be prepared for slower serving times, be prepared to order when they take your drink order. Upon coming here, I had been given the impression that the food is really good and the ambience was fresh and fun.. however that was not the case!!! A family member actually suggested this place. It could be that i have just been spoiled when it comes to dining out, but I was extremely disappointed in the food. The menu was confusing, and the drinks were so watered down, I didn't even drink mine. Our server was very kind, and did a good job of making sure we had what we needed.. but the food was so awful, I would never recommend this place to anyone. I had the chicken sandwich and tots.. the chicken was actually good! It was grilled and charred. However the rest of the sandwich just fell apart and the vegetables were less than fresh. The tater tots tasted as if the grease they fried them in hadn't been changed in a year... They do have fun games to play outside by the lake! This is not my first time at Snappers, however today has been my favorite experience here! Our server Maddy was attentive and cheerful! She did a fabulous job making sure we had everything we needed. Don't understand how this place is even open. The service is so slow. Waitress's are sitting out in the lobby on their phones while waiting for people to come in not doing anything productive. All the food is pre cooked and the cooks microwave almost everything on the menu. They change the fry oil out every two weeks. Cooks are wiping buns off onto there aprons if they accidentally added a sauce. Half of there products are expired. read more

Visited a little after 6:00 on a Saturday. It was busy but someone cleared off tables for our group of 6 right away. Had dinner there last night. It was a little busy and understaffed like most places in the area. Ordered a MiamiVice and they were out of the Margarita, the waitress then informed us of all the things they were out of, the list of things they did have would of probably been shorter. My family was not impressed with this place. I had the coconut crusted fish tacos. Very bland... would have been better with a spicy/sweet sauce. Had a tuna macaroni side with it. Could have skipped that, maybe some rice or fresh fruit instead. My partner had the fish and chips. The fish was again flavorless and french fries were better than the fish. Daughter had the shrimp cocktail and she said it was stringy and not so tasty. Waited three hours for our supper with assurances along the way that we would get our food. Finally I asked if our food was being prepared. The waitress (also assistant manager) said it has not been started. We asked for our beverage tab and when waitress brought those she tried to minimize poor service by saying she did comp our appetizers (served after 1.5 hours) and one round of drinks. Initially the waitress said they were running behind and after 3 hours we asked if they had even started our food and they had not. Had to ask the another waitress for our check and again never saw our waitress for her to run our card...so, the other waitress had to help again. Needless to say I gave the other waitress the tip! We could not even eat our food it was so cold and gross. Then we just went last night...thinking...let's try again! Wrong!!!! We asked a waitress if we seat ourselves and she said yes and after 25 minutes and tables next to us seated after us were ordering and we had not even gotten a menu...we left! Extremely disappointed with our experience. The first thing our waitress said to us was "if you're gonna order a drink I need to see some ID." We had not even seen a menu or been greeted by anyone yet. Took over 30 minutes to get appetizer. Ordered the chislic, which comes with sauce according to the menu... did not get sauce with the chislic. When we brought it up to the waitress, she was confused - "so I can definitely grab you some sauce if you want it". Like I'm sorry - I thought it was on the menu??? She literally made me feel stupid for asking for sauce that was supposed to be with the chislic. We put in our entrees before even getting the appetizers and STILL it took an hour to get to the table after putting in the order. And just wait. It gets worse. Ordered the mussles, again according to the menu came with baguettes and guess what, NO BAGUETTES. Then I had to wait 20 minutes before I could ask for what was literally on the menu with my meal and then it took 20 more minutes to get two pieces of thin bread no bigger than my palm. Waitress didn't check on us once besides bringing our food and dirty dishes and glassware weren't cleared once. After we were completely finished with our dinner it took 40 minutes to get our bill. We had to ask 4 different times to get our bill as our waitress ran past without addressing us at all. Our waitress acted like we were burdening her when we were simply asking for things that we ordered. With all that being said about the horrible service, the newly updated menu has extremely few options and very little variety and what we did order was not impressive. Stopped by to grab a quick drink with a party of 10+. Upon arriving, the staff checked our IDs using an app on their phones. One of our party members (who is 22) and has a valid government issued ID, had their ID rejected by their app. Upon asking for the manager to review the ID, he proceeded to use the same mobile app that had already rejected their legal ID earlier. It was clear that the manager of THE BAR was incompetent and had no prior experience checking IDs, as the app was his only way of checking the validity of them. Despite this, those of us whom they allowed to order, sat and enjoyed our drinks while the manager & staff proceeded to point and stare at us for the remainder of our stay. The service was horrible and the drinks were watered down just like the ones at the Barefoot. Unless you know the waitstaff personally do not expect to be waited on in a timely manner (less than 30 minutes). Staff seems to be more attentive to their phones than tables even when not busy. Food and drinks are good though. read more
