What a wonderful experience! I was looking for some hand dyed mini skeins of Merino to start…read morecollecting for a crochet blanket quilt project. Amazing selection of yarn in beautiful colors and different fibers to suit your project. I am fairly new to crochet and this was my first time visiting a dedicated yarn store. The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful without hovering. I think four different staff must have assisted me or answered my questions about which fiber textiles worked best for the different projects I had in mind. One even shared a stitch for crochet that I will try: linen stitch. It can be intimidating and overwhelming trying to figure out which yarns work best for different uses and everyone was so helpful. I drove an hour down from Orlando because this store had the most recommendations on reviews and reddit threads and I'm so glad I did. Will be returning for sure and looking forward to catching some of their limited release skeins.

I bought some sale yarn from Four Purls on-line. The price was good and triggered my curiosity…read moreabout the place. The pictures showed a HUGE shop. I was in Florida, visiting a friend, and talked her into making the 2 hour trip to Four Purls. Walking in, I was amazed! The place really is HUGE - the largest yarn shop I'v ever been in. The owners were really nice, explaining how the store in laid out with regard to the yarn weights. I asked about Cashmere yarn; they had it. Yak yarn; they had it. Yarns from countries that I didn't know produced yarns - Japan. They have their own private label yarn as well. This is a destination store if you're anywhere in Florida. If you use yarn in any way, you will love this place. I told my friend I'll be back to visit, if only to go back to Four Purls.

Instead of apologizing or trying to fix it, the owner became incredibly defensive, hostile, and rude. They do not take accountability for their mistakes and lack basic customer service skills. I have heard that the place has gone downhill since the change in ownership and now I completely understand why. Very unfortunate for our small community.

Sadly, since the new ownership took over, the experience has drastically gone downhill. On their most recent visit, they were told--quite abruptly--that moving forward they would only be allowed to come in twice per piece, and that painting must be completed within six months of purchase. This was never a policy before, and the way it was communicated felt aggressive and unwelcoming. Disheartened by the interaction, they decided it would be their last time visiting Mimi's. To make matters worse, when they were called to say their pieces had finished firing, they were informed one of them had broken--without a hint of an apology. The only "resolution" offered was a gift card for the original value or nothing at all. When they went to pick up what was left of the piece, the owner was present and still didn't offer a single apology. This is not the kind of customer service or family-friendly environment we used to know and love. It's deeply disappointing to see such a treasured place become so unaccommodating and indifferent toward long-time customers. We will be taking our business--and our loyalty--to one of the many other paint-your-own studios in the area that still prioritize kindness, flexibility, and community. And when leaving a review on google to express these issues, it felt like we were responded to with a chatgpt answer, because it wasn't even being addressed to the correct person. Which felt even more impersonal.
