What a wonderful experience! I was looking for some hand dyed mini skeins of Merino to start collecting for a crochet blanket quilt project. Amazing selection of yarn in beautiful colors and different fibers to suit your project. I am fairly new to crochet and this was my first time visiting a dedicated yarn store. The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful without hovering. I think four different staff must have assisted me or answered my questions about which fiber textiles worked best for the different projects I had in mind. One even shared a stitch for crochet that I will try: linen stitch. It can be intimidating and overwhelming trying to figure out which yarns work best for different uses and everyone was so helpful. I drove an hour down from Orlando because this store had the most recommendations on reviews and reddit threads and I'm so glad I did. Will be returning for sure and looking forward to catching some of their limited release skeins. read more

I bought some sale yarn from Four Purls on-line. The price was good and triggered my curiosity about the place. The pictures showed a HUGE shop. I was in Florida, visiting a friend, and talked her into making the 2 hour trip to Four Purls. Walking in, I was amazed! The place really is HUGE - the largest yarn shop I'v ever been in. The owners were really nice, explaining how the store in laid out with regard to the yarn weights. I asked about Cashmere yarn; they had it. Yak yarn; they had it. Yarns from countries that I didn't know produced yarns - Japan. They have their own private label yarn as well. This is a destination store if you're anywhere in Florida. If you use yarn in any way, you will love this place. I told my friend I'll be back to visit, if only to go back to Four Purls. read more

Every city I go to, I have to check out the yarn store. I went to Winter Haven eight years ago, but didn't know about Four Purls back then. I had no reasons to visit Winter Haven (nothing there), but I found myself on the way from Tampa to Orlando on a Sunday so I stopped in. It's rare for a LYS to be open seven days a week - but they are so that was a definite plus. There's a decent amount of free parking on the street and in a nearby small lot. The store has a great selection, although I found it to be eaten up by a ton of Emma's yarns (local, but having one wall of it takes away from other yarns they could stock in my opinion). For example, I wish they stocked Cascade 220 since no stores nearby stock it. Although there is a yarn for everyone, and a few interesting finds (Biscotti self-striping, multicolored roving, art yarns, crochet animal kits). I met Noelle, and she was very sweet in helping me out, and showed me around the shop since it was my first time there. Overall, there's a good range of yarns organized by weight (my preferred layout for a LYS), and is definitely one of the top yarn stores I've been to in the Southeast. read more

Where to start? When you walk in to the store, the entry is filled with colorful project bags made by local and other artisans. I was impressed by the pattern variety and selection. It is well organized and a wonderful introduction to the store. There is a comfortable seating area suitable for a knitting circle or for impromptu project sharing or advice on a project gone awry. The rest of the store continues the "well organized" theme as you move from fine to bulky weight yarns. There are sample shawls each with the designer's information to inspire or inform. The clearance area is clearly marked. They even provided recommendations for an excellent lunch. I only wish I lived closer to this gem! read more

Made a pit stop for my knitter of a sister on our way to Orlando. She tends to be a connoisseur of yarn stores any where we travel. This place was incredibly stocked, super welcoming and extremely friendly. They were knowledgeable and had a handful of individuals in the store enjoying time working on their projects while having experts at their hands for troubleshooting. They were open to sharing what they were working on with passersbys and loved the company. This shop appeared an obvious staple to the surrounding crafting community. Once again super welcoming. The store had great samples of yarn projects on display as well as additional accessories and a variety of brands to compliment their supply. They threw in a pin with the stores Four Purls logo with her purchase, a great addition for her project bag. Would definitely return if back in the area. read more

Four Purls is my home away from home! If only they had a shop in Tampa!!!!! (C'mon Laura!) An excellent supply of yarns that change constantly and cover every type of project you can imagine! You would have to be in handcuffs to be able to walk out of there without carrying a bag. On Tuesdays they are open until 9p so everyone brings their knitting projects and just sit together all day/night on the couches and chairs chatting and knitting. This happens every day they're open, but it's even MORE fun on Tuesdays! If you ever have a problem or are stuck not knowing what to do, there is not only whomever happens to be working that day to help, but if there is someone on the couch knitting, they are always happy to chime in and help, too! I've never made so many friends in one day before! Plenty of parking, Laura (the owner) has snacks and drinks if you don't want to go get lunch, and the energy is palpable. This is a wonderful shop with a large variety of yarn and supplies. One of the best in the entire Tampa to Orlando area! Not only are the staff very helpful but the other patrons were as welcoming as it gets. As an advanced knitter, having been in many yarns shops all over the coutry, this tells me these owners are as good as it gets to foster this kind of culture. I was visiting a friend in Sebring & searched for the nearest yarn shop. LOVED the Four Purls!!! JD was so helpful & gave us the "tour" of the shop & then helped us each with yarn selection for our projects. Their line of "Emma's Yarn" (their daughter dies it) was outstanding! We sat in their "living room" and knit & visited with some other knitters for awhile. I will definitely visit again if I'm anywhere remotely close. Well worth the hour drive we made. read more

What an amazing yarn shop- I usually visit a local yarn shop when I travel so I have seen my fair share and this one is one of my all-time favorites! If you're looking for a yarn shop where they are so friendly, accommodating, and oh so very kind- then this is the place. I happened to stop by after visiting Legoland and they were kind enough to let me stop by while they were holding an evening class. I had called earlier and I spoke with Mona, who was so sweet and down-to-earth. She gave excellent directions and was just so engaging. She encouraged me to bring my baby with me. They have an excellent selection of yarn. I believe Laura helped me. She didn't rush me and took the time to show me the different yarns- even though she was teaching a class. They were very kind, friendly, and genuine. I only wish I had more time to stay and knit with them. I cannot wait to cast on with the goodies I picked up- and I definitely plan to order more from them even when I return home! read more

I visited Four Purls when on vacation in Florida. They have a lovely selection of high quality yarns, an active and busy group of regulars who are very friendly and welcoming. With the yarn, you get what you pay for and that seems dictated by the manufacturer more than the shop. They were reasonable and had some good sales. We were allowed to browse as much as we liked and then when we wanted to check out were immediately and cheerfully helped. The folks working at the counter even made helpful suggestions of other products that might be of interest and even some books. read more
