Please Read Before Accepting Black Box Prize Gift Cards at Bargain Depot on Goliad Road (San Antonio Shoppers) I want to share my recent experience so no one else runs into the same problem. Nov 14, 2025, I won a $50 Google Play gift card at Bargain Depot, but had to pay $6 because the card came in a "$6 day" black box. I gave it to my son as a birthday gift. When he tried to redeem it, he found out from Google Play that the card was never activated at the store. Gift card activation is something only the store can do at the register. I went back today, Dec 11, 2025, with the physical card in perfect condition. Instead of helping, I was told: "Too much time passed." "We can't do anything about the card." "No one else has had this issue, only you." "We don't know what you did with the card." Not only did they refuse to activate the card or refund the $6 fee, they shifted the blame onto me -- even though activation is 100% the store's responsibility. The card is unexpired, unused, and clearly not activated. The store has complete transactional documentation and photos. Just a warning for others: If you receive or "win" any gift card in a Bargain Depot black box, make sure the store activates it before you leave. This place is my best and worst nightmare combined into one place. They have amazing deals, like really do. We bought this box of stuff for $100. We looked everything up on Amazon and everything totaled out to $700. I couldn't believe it, I too thought it was a scam but it wasn't. I don't know how they're able to sell stuff like that, but I'm not going to snoop around to find out. If you're into bargain shopping like me, this is the place for you. The only thing I hate is digging through stuff and you HAVE to dig and rip open packaging in order to see what some of the stuff was. They literally have anything and everything you can think of. So, they have made so much money, that they got the security guard talking to people like they are cattle. They close half the store 45 minutes prior to closing. They literally stop customers from looking in the bins. 25 mins, prior to closing they stop letting people in the store, saying they are "closed". I went in just to see what day price it was, security said, "get in line, you're done!" I was like wow. So, close the doors at the time say you're closed, which is 8pm. But they are turning people away, 30-45 minutes early. The security said, the employees have to leave at 8pm. Then set your hours of operation to close at 7 so your employees can leave by 8. This happens when companies start to make too much money and they don't care how they speak to customers. read more

I had a similar experience as Ron O. Either an employee or owner is a scam artist. They used the name Mark Rowland and were persistent about me shipping my package ASAP. They used a scamming site that looks similar to PayPal and use the fake PayPal account and used this exact address as the shipping address with the name Lemon Jerry. This con artist tried to make me ship designer shoes and tried to issue me a fake payment through a scamming site that uses PayPal logos. I contacted PayPal and they suggested that it is a scam. read more

I can spend hours in these stores, along with a lot of money and I love every minute of it! Ali and his older sibling, who is no longer part of the team, have consistently provided exceptional customer service whenever I have encountered challenges or required assistance. I bought a water dispenser and maid the mistake of not trying it out the GM said I had 7 says days warranty so I thought I'll just pick up another if it don't work. but when back they had 5 others but none of them work I took a 5 gallon water bottle cuz I was told it only work that way by the manager that wouldn't help me in any way, I had to drag 5 dispenser to an out let my self and test them out. my advice is don't by there at all it's not worth it but, if you don't have any other options make sure you test before you hand over your money. Either an employee or owner here is a scam artist. I'm assuming who ever is in charge of receiving mail or any package that gets delivered, is responsible but this place tried conning me into sending them clothing with a fake paypal email and fake paypal payment to this exact location. They wanted me to send them an expensive belt and tried issuing me fake payment through a fake paypal email. I verified my own paypal, called them and realized the scam that was going on. This place is a joke and hope customers stay far away from a place that tries to ship packages to it, with fake paypal payments that don't exist. read more

I just got back from the 3 dollar bin sale. Everything inside the bins was three dollars. I didn't go first day of sale which had some awesome awesome deals. Bike for 4 dollars? Ps5 for 4 dollars? Crazy! Right! I can tell you it is worth the trip even on the last day of sale. I paid 67 dollars for everything I bought. I went home and looked up every single item. Total items if I had paid full price would have been 326 dollars plus add another 30 dollars for taxes onto that. The 67 dollars was with tax included in that price. The best part is that I only bought what I knew I would use. Bargain Depot gives you the opportunity to try different things without killing your wallet. Customer service? You want customer service too? No worries there either! The guys check on you asking if you are okay if you need anything put behind cash register. They know their merchandise. How cool is that.
