Recently held a client appreciation event at Bargetto and was very pleased with the experience! Unfortunately, the weather kept us from using their beautiful patio. If you have an opportunity to host your event on the patio- DO IT! It is absolutely breathtaking, with plenty of room, lighting, and a view of a giant gorgeous creek. The staff moved us in to their barrel room, which is very quirky and interesting. Room was cold but adequate heaters had been set up so all guests were comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Laura and Cher were able to answer all questions about scheduling, orders, catering, etc. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars though was bc of the delay in response time to some emails early in the scheduling process. Thankfully, they really stepped up closer to the event and even offered me personal cell phone numbers to stay in touch close to event. They put me right at ease on the day and helped out in so many ways. It should definitely be noted that Bargetto has a relationship with area shelters to donate food from events. We ordered a bit too much food and I was so glad that we were able to donate it to a good cause. The wine was delicious- my first Santa Cruz wine experience. Would love to go back and enjoy the tasting room on my next trip to the area. read more

Super friendly staff! We were given a lot of great information about the history of the winery and the wines.

I hosted my rehearsal dinner here. The setting is lovely, the patio overlooks the river and while close to town, you feel like you are a world away. There are not a ton of places in the Santa Cruz area that can accommodate a party of over 50 but I have no reservations recommending Bargetto as your go to locale. The day of the event it was rainy and windy - no problem, they moved the party into the cellar - the guests loved it. The staff was amazing! I'm understating it when I say there was a little problem with catering (my bad) and the Bargetto team just handled everything, calmly made a plan and put a glass of wine in my hand. No one was the wiser, the guests thought the event was perfect, and what could have been a stressful night was a wonderful kickoff to a fun weekend. I can't thank the team enough. Go for wine tasting but put on your short list for event locations! read more

My friends and I visited this winery on Saturday afternoon. We were able to get a tour of the facility and learn about wine making from their friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you're interested in touring their winery, you need to call ahead and make reservations. The winery is located in lovely soquel. The winery and tasting room also includes a gift shop with gourmet chocolates, food items, and home/kitchen utensils. If you ever wanted to dress your bottle of wine in an apron, this is the place to get its costume. The store, tour, and the staff are really nice... but I didn't really care for their wine. I've had Bargetto's Pinot Grigio (2001) and really enjoyed it. It was the main reason why I wanted to tour and visit this place. In the tasting room I found that I none of the selections really pleased the palate. For example I found their Syrah to be way too tight. It had a lovely nose and floral finish but lacked structure at the end. The flavors of blackberry started very strongly but couldn't hold up until the end. The syrah was so tight that I had difficulty in distinguishing a lot of the flavors and the oak. Overall this place is really nice and if you're interested in learning about wines and the process involved, I encourage a visit. read more

I came here a few months ago during passport weekend,and it's a nice little place. They have some really unique dessert wines that I've never seen elsewhere. Olallieberry Wine? A bit too sweet, but fun to try. They had nebbiolo (hard to find). I just opened up the Gewurztraminer (which I hadn't tasted in the flight, I bought it on faith alone), and it was great. read more

We had the wedding of our dreams in July at Bargetto Winery! The staff, especially Lacey, were all so wonderful. We had a small guest list, and Lacey helped us put together a perfect plan for our small ceremony, reception, and dancing. The location itself is gorgeous to begin with, and with a few personal touches, we had magic. Everything ran smoothly, and our day was perfect thanks to the hard work of all the staff. This was the last place we tasted on the most recent passport weekend. They had wonderful cheese and bread for snacking between tastings and the tasting room reminded me of a comfortable small bar I would want to hand out in. The only thing I was moved to buy was the Olallieberry fruit wine and that was only because if I did, my friend who was buying more than I, got a better discount. So really, it was out of charity for my friend's sake that I purchased this wine that still resides in my fridge over a month later. We almost drank it on Valentine's Day but ended up drinking another dessert wine instead. Some day it will be consumed! I am still curious about their Mead. read more

So I went to one of their membership things called the wine futures... it was wonderful! We got to try all of their most recent wines and even got to do a barrel tasting of one of their future wines... hence the name hehehe There was plenty of food as well.. different things that complimented the different wines... there were mushrooms and brie little quesadillas and mushroom and brie ones... there was a table with little desert items from a local vendor that were simply decadent they were so good... and there was a bbq tri-tip as well with brie and crackers... and wine.. wine.. and more wine. ... =) needless to say I was a happy camper with all the wine.. and the view was unbelievable! It was beautiful... it was actually above the regular winery at their club for kids... you can see all the way to the ocean up there... beautiful! read more

Planned a Mystery trip with my sorority, we had this winery recommended to us. I made RSVP's for 12 ladies . They had a lovely tasting room, and lovely wines from what my sisters told me. The place is cozy and wine is pretty good. There is one thing a wine lover enjoys is wine tasting of course. Yet we were disappointed with our experience here the woman helping us was not attentive and left us on our own a few times. My husband spoke up, she never apologized nor improved. The place has a nice view if you walk to the back of bar area. The servers are friendly enough, but no real explanation of the wine itself. The wine is fine, but what is disappointing is that there are two menus to choose 5 tastings from; a $10 menu and a $15 menu. My husband chose the $15 and I chose the $10. We decided to purchase a bottle to go which was in mid price range. When we went to the counter to pay, we were told that tastings fees are never waived unless you're a member. I was surprised by that and a bit disappointed that we weren't told about it in the beginning nor were we invited to become a wine club member. A friend and I went to Bargetto's recently to taste and pick up wine. We were so happy to see Skip and Nancy there to attend to us. Skip is fun, knowledgeable and efficient. Nancy was working the shop and cash register, and as always was friendly and went out of her way to take care of us. She even found a discontinued item for me offsite! The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed the river and the sunny patio. The callas are blooming right now. We love Bargetto's and feel it is a Santa Cruz/Soquel gem. read more

My wife and I spent a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon at Bargetto Winery. We tried a number of red wines and enjoyed them so much we joined the wine club. It really is unfortunate that I have to write a bad review about such a beautiful area. I'm not going to say anything negative about the winery itself because it is very quaint and gorgeous. However, the customer service my fiancé and myself received when we tried to secure Bargetto as a venue for our wedding was very poor. First off, we had sent multiple emails and called about 3 or 4 times over a period of three weeks just to see if we could schedule a tour. After receiving NO response we sent a final email to say if we did not hear back after this email we would no longer be considering Bargetto as a possible venue. Low and behold, we received a response an hour later to schedule the tour! A week later we arrived for our 2:00PM appointment at 1:45. We walked up and were asked to enjoy a free tasting while we waited the lat 15 minutes. At 2:30 pm we were approached by a young woman who told us "Laura" (the woman we would be meeting with) thought we were someone else and decided to leave. Of course, me and my fiancé were urked by this to say the least. Once the tour was conducted we asked some basic questions, the last of which was about the response time and reliability of their staff seeing as we were having so many issues trying to get ahold of them. We were promised that this would not happen in the future and that Laura was just going through some tough personal issues. As my fiancé and I continued to research what we needed for the wedding we came across a great deal through a family friend for catering. One of the simple questions we asked through email was: "Can Bargetto send us a list of the responsibilities of a traditional caterer since ours does not speak english very well. We plan on hiring staff and want to meet all of the requirements." Laura took a week to respond and danced around the question by saying she would be willing to talk to the caterer. Again we responded with she does not speak english very well so could she just send us a list. This email back and forth with the same dancing around the question went on for THREE MORE WEEKS before we called twice to no response and then a final email. The final email was cc'd to the customer service department, event department, and festival department at Bargetto to ensure maximum exposure. It stated a detailed reason of why I was writing and that we had not been receiving proper attention to our issue. Well that got their attention! Suddenly Laura was very responsive however she still would not answer our question. A week later, after some more back and forth Laura finally answered our question by saying they could not provide the information for liability issues in case they missed anything. This is COMPLETELY understandable. I totally understand. But WHY DID IT TAKE THEM 4 WEEKS TO TELL US? Anyone trying to plan a wedding knows how important time is to the process. This really set us back. On top of this she finalized the email by saying Bargetto is not the venue for us... So on top of the poor service we received they booted us from the venue? So to wrap this up, Bargetto: beautiful, love the wine, love the location, the service sucks as long as working with Laura and you ask any questions. I don't recommend this for anyone not using a wedding planner or have specific questions answered. read more

Went there with some friends for wine-tasting a couple of weeks ago. $5 for 5 tastings. Nice setting, small creek in the back, musician playing in the courtyard while you nibble on cheese and crackers and sip wine. A must-try: Chaucer's Olallieberry fruit wine ($14) if you like really sweet dessert-style wines (an olallieberry is a hybrid cross of a loganberry and a youngberry). As they describe it: It's like eating Olallieberry pie without the crust or as we like to say the "inner pie." read more

My husband randomly stumbled upon Bargetto after a Google search for Northern California wedding venues, and from the first time we visited it, we loved it. We were so pleased with our entire experience with Bargetto. The events coordinator, Cheir, and her staff were responsive via email & phone and accommodating, not to mention really nice and professional. We loved the space because it was outdoors and tucked away - even though it's located close to the street, you wouldn't know once you're on the grounds. The wine was all delicious, and the caterer that Cheir recommended was top-notch. So many of our guests commented about how naturally beautiful the setting is - and I was thrilled with how all of our photographs turned out, too. The House on the property (where the bride & her party can get ready ahead of time) is so gorgeous and made for some really nice first-look and getting ready photos. I can't say enough great things about Bargetto - the value is spectacular, and you really get a personalized experience. My husband I got married at Bargetto this past weekend and cannot imagine having had a better experience. This is due, in large part, to the expertise and support we received from Cheir Harty, the event coordinator. She and her staff were responsive, extremely accommodating and also helpful in making suggestions to us considering we had never put on a wedding ceremony and reception before! The venue dresses up beautifully and was the perfect size for our 95 guests. There were a few scheduling snafus around our rehearsal, but Cheir was quick to address them and ensure that we got everything taken care of. From our very first visit to the day after our wedding when we returned to pick up our wine club shipment, the whole experience was seamless. We recently got married at Bargettos. Our goal was to have a nice fairly informal wedding where everyone could just have a great time. We picked Bargettos because in meeting the staff (specifically Cher and Laura) they were just so nice. In addition, and I will admit what tipped up over the edge, was their Chaucer dessert wines. I fell in love with them and wanted our guests, who would all be traveling cross country for this wedding, to have something fun to drink along with their great wines. In planning the wedding, Laura gave us a list of her preferred vendors for catering, flowers, DJs, hair stylists, etc. You never know with these lists because you don't know the arrangements that venues have with the vendors...however, her suggestions were AMAZING! They took the stress out of everything. I used someone from every one of her categories! Day of, Laura, the event manager took over. She acted as a full coordinator getting everyone in the right places at the right time. She moved the entire event along and we didnt have to do a thing! I want to personally thank the staff at Bargetto's for making our wedding day 100% stress free. We got so many complements about the location, wines, and overall event from all our guests. Scale from (Worse) 1-10 (Best) Wines (Reds) - 7 Ambience - 8 Food - None when I was there. Prices - 5-7 There are a lot of good things about this place but because of a bad experience there I put off writing my review for months to see if I could more objectively review Bargetto. My party of 4 were outside at a table overlooking the creek. I went in to the tap room which was full of people quite loud and inebriated. The server cut me off though I only had two small tasters (less than 1/8 ounce each) and one glassof a really good Pinot Noir. My party's designated driver approached the gentleman to explain that I had only two drinks and that I had "DD" but I was cut off. We were not being loud only discussing a book about a guy who escaped from a North Korean prison camp. I cancelled my membership and won't be back and though I did enjoy their reds, I will not recommend. read more

My husband and I found the wines at Bargetto Winery, palate friendly and enjoyable - so much so, we decided to join the wine club. What a mistake! After I left my wine club packet in the tasting room, I requested another via email. The wine club manager assured me the packet would be sent. It never was. I had sent additional emails, and still no response. We decided this was not the wine club to join and when I called the manager told me they would either need to charge me for the "COMPLIMENTARY" Pinot they gave us for joining, or I would have to pay for the first month's shipment I had not received. I said this was surprising if it was "complimentary" to which she replied "This policy was explained in your packet".... I said this would be difficult to read since I never received my packet - to which she replied - "well I guess you will not have your shipment" - and hung up on me. Given the economy and how many wineries exist in California, I would think customer service is a must, but at Bargetto Winery they have left that find detail out. Now, not only will I stay away from this winery, I will make sure to inform others that Santa Cruz has far more to offer than Bargetto Winery. read more

We used Bargetto wines and service for our wedding in August. They were amazing. The provided all the stemware, 4 different kinds of wine, and they served all of our guests throughout the reception. The staff they brought was top notch. While taking photos they took special care to come and see my husband and I to make sure we had wine as well. It the small things that make a service truly 5 star! I really can't say enough about this service. It was easy, fairly inexpensive, and so worth it! OH and we got to go sample wines at the winery a month or so before the wedding to pick out the type of wines we wanted to serve. So fun! It was one less thing to worry about. Thank you! I joined the wine club years ago and I know most of the people at Bargetto. Today I met someone new, Angela, and she's great. She was working alone and had to balance wine buying, wine club pickups, and pouring in the tasting room. It was quite busy at times, but Angela was always right on and going with the flow. Never appeared rushed or harried. Filled with enthusiasm and positive attitude, and knowledgeable of the wine. Looks like my favorite winery has a great new person. We were married at Bargetto last June and had a wonderful experience planning and hosting the event here. I was one of those brides who really needed someone to help run my big day but I didn't have the funds to hire a wedding planner. Cheir's services turned out to be the perfect solution, she was just what I needed! Cheir knows her stuff, and I can't thank her enough for her help. Angela was super sweet and helpful as well and the vendors they recommend we try were also easy to work with. If you're thinking about getting married here... DO IT. The wine was ok but the staff was very rude, judgmental and condescending. The person pouring for us didn't keep track of the pours and tried to underserve us while talking down to us the entire time. I like to buy their wine when I'm at restaurants or at the store but after how we were treated, I'll no longer support their business. Bargetto Winery is a picturesque location located off Main Street in Aptos. We are from Sacramento and Our wine server was very knowledgeable about the area, suggesting restaurants for dinner and other wineries to visit. Bargetto Wines fits our palettes. We enjoy big, bold, peppery wines and Bargetto has a large selections of these wines. They have a beautiful patio over looking the a small tree, redwood trees which shade the patio, and its a perfect location for a wedding as some people have mentioned here. We talked with our server about renting the patio for a corporate event and he told us the patio can hold upto 125 people. We will be back. read more

We had our wedding at Bargetto 3 weeks ago. I'm still in complete awe how organized, professional and calm Cheir and her amazing staff were, before, during and after our wedding. Cheir went above and beyond in catering to our very need. From dealing with the 5 minute processional song I wanted for our ceremony, making an extra trip to the store (after working a venue that same night) just to get the Sparkling Voss water I really wanted, to keeping the night flowing, stress free, Cheir did EVERYTHING for us, with a smile on her face. She is a complete professional at what she does, and has a very calm effect on the bride and groom. If you are even considering getting married, want a beautiful venue, with an AMAZING staff to fulfill your dream wedding, then consider Bargetto Winery. You won't regret it. read more

This review is primarily for Bargetto as a wedding venue. We got married there May 19, 2013 and it went off without a hitch. Laura, the event planner is awesome and helped us throughout the planning process and made sure the day of execution was on point. The additional Bargetto staff was excellent as well and ensured the setup, wine and beer service, and everything else went smoothly. The wedding ceremony and reception was outside on the patio and it provides a beautiful natural setting with a laidback, but classy feel. The cocktail hour was in the wine barrel room and gives the bride/groom and bridal party the opportunity to get the photos out of the way. Again, the staff at Bargetto was efficient at keeping to the timeline as well as getting all the guests to the right place at the right time and getting the tables etc. setup on time. Overall, I have no complaints about using Bargetto as a wedding venue and would highly recommend it! Understand that they cannot accommodate larger weddings, up to around 100 people, but they are also very reasonably priced in a very overpriced area to get hitched. They provided the tables, chairs, table linens, and stemware for the wedding which was also a big plus. Also, they allow dogs on the patio so our dog was able to be our ringbearer which we really wanted. As far as just coming in for wine tasting, I have done that a couple times too and it is great to sit out on the patio or look out of the wine tasting room at the creek as it flows by. Many of their wines are very good quality too and the staff is always attentive and friendly, even if they're busy. read more

We have been members of Bargettos winery for almost two years, and decided to have our Vow Renewal ceremony there. It was practically a full wedding for about 50 guests. Most of our contact with Bargettos leading to and during the ceremony was with Cheir, one of there event planners. I could not have been happier with how it went. It was a flawless execution, from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, and the reception. The staff was excellent, professional and courteous to everyone's needs. One of our guests was elderly, and was unable to cope with a Santa Cruz evening temperatures. Cheir and the staff quickly took care of the situation. They placed her in a room next to a fireplace, she was warm and able to view and hear the ceremony!!!! I highly recommend this as a venue for small to medium sized events. read more
