We had several unremarkable experiences here. Nothing great, nothing terrible. We continued to use them because they were often on the way when we were traveling. The last time we boarded our bichon frise, he was attacked and killed by a larger dog. Bark Avenue paid for the attempts to save his life as well as his cremation. read more

We have three small dogs and one dog has seizures and is on a strict medication schedule to prevent them (one pill given with food every 12 hours). During our visit we asked the front desk associate if they could administer her pill and feed all three dogs at the earliest possible time and latest possible time (right when they open at 7:00am and before they close at 6:00pm). We were assured this would be totally fine. We came to our boarding dates (leaving our dogs Friday afternoon and planned to pick up Sunday morning). When dropping off we again brought up concerns about our dogs medication and were told they would feed them and give her pill at latest possible time and earliest possible time. I also printed very detailed notes for each dog in their food bags and going over medication. As my husband and I were driving I started watching the camera in their suite a little before 5;00pm (yes, I am a crazy dog mom who is paranoid). I watched this video feed in the car until 5:50pm and then called concerned. The front desk associate said they ate and she got her pill about 10 minutes ago. I knew for a fact that was not possible. I started watching the video the next morning at 6:40am. After 7:00am, we watched this guy open their door and start throwing treats at our dogs. My heart sank. Was our dogs pill in one of these treats? Which of our dogs was going to eat it? The guy put up his hands as if to tell our dogs to stay where they were and not come by him as he threw the treats and ran in the suite to open the door that allows them to go outside. Our dogs were so confused and scared. He ran out of the suite shutting the door. Our dogs are not vicious and if he would have just went in and been friendly, maybe sat on the floor to give them some affection and read the name tag of which dog was supposed to get their medicine, that would have been great. They had not had any human interaction since we dropped them the previous afternoon. My husband called and the girl said they were fed and she got her pill. We explained to her this was far from the truth. She said let me check and came back saying the guy assured her they ate and he checked our dogs name tag to give her her pill directly. We explained again, we watched this video nonstop and saw this guy treat our dogs like garbage. She said she trusted this guy and believed him. We had to then get the owners number and call. After this we saw the girl and a different guy go in and actually feed our dogs. Luckily were still in the state and drove the 4 hours back to get our dogs. I had no faith and felt we were just leaving our dogs to be neglected. 45 min before we were to arrive they had taken all our dogs beds and blankets out and then the dogs, so I have no clue where they put them until we got there. The girls gave us our things when we got there right at 6pm and rushed us out. Our dog ended up having a seizure that next day. The owner called me Monday to apologize, and said he trusted his associate who we witnessed treating out dogs like trash, but that the customer is always right. This is not about the customer being right at all. I watched this and I hope your videos are recorded so you can go back to that Saturday morning on 12/16, and a little after 7:00am you will see exactly what happened with your "trusted" associate. My dog has been going to Bark Avenue since he was 6 months old. He is now 6 years old. I took him to Pet Paradise and did not know about Bark Avenue. However, after having a horrible experience at Pet Paradise, I found out about Bark Avenue and he has never been any where else. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE!!! Please read the other negative reviews and take them seriously. This review will be long but thorough pointing out the MANY reasons not to use this place that I wish I had not ignored. Boarding: DONT Day Care: DONT Grooming: NEVER I wanted to like this place, I was preparing to write a raving review but this place is a joke, they're cheap for a reason. My friend and I came in for a tour, she was looking to board her dog. At first glance, this place is nice. They have a daycare area with a puppy pool...how cool! But they shove WAY too many dogs in the area, little dogs with big dogs getting run over, the fence is half falling down and not tall enough. While we were there for the tour 3 dogs escaped the day care and judging by my following visits and the staffs reactions, this is a very common occurrence. We then walk into the boarding area. We went into the side that (at that time) had no dogs. It smelled like a pound that had not been cleaned. There were no dogs, it should not have smelled THAT bad. However, we ignored it and continued. The boarding suits are pretty roomy and they have a dog run attached so the dogs can go outside(but they never let them use it). I then asked to speak with the groomer since their prices are clearly stated as well as additional service charges. I explained to the groomer that my dog is not only very large he has a ton of fur and his groom will take all day. She was excited to groom him and we discussed everything she would do, being a retired groomer, she said all the right things and made me feel comfortable bringing my dog. He had some loose mats that could have been worked through, which I told her about. I also told her I would understand if some of his fur had to come off if she couldn't work through it. The groomer called me and told me she wasn't going to be able to work through his mats and she would have to cut them out. I told her I understood and she said she will be leaving as much hair as possible. 10 HOURS LATER my dog wasn't ready. I picked up my dog and he was BALD!!!! Barely 1/2 inch left of his 8 inch fur! I was furious but decided to take him home and calm down so I didn't flip out on anyone. I let a few fellow professionals see my dog and they were just as upset as I was. I called to ask what I was charged for because the numbers weren't adding up. She charged me $32 for the low shed treatment which wasn't done, plus $66 de-matting and special handling fee. SHE SHAVED MY DOG! No de-mating was performed and she told me he was the best boy so why was a handling fee added? She claimed he was so badly matted she had to de-mat his face and chest(which again she shaved). He had ZERO mats on the front half of his body when I took him in. She then claimed he was COVERED in hot spots and needed to be shaved. The only 'spots' he has are his old man elbows. Even if I had actually brought him in to be shaved, THIS IS THE WORST HAIR CUT I'VE EVER SEEN! He looks like dogs that I've had brought back to me to fix what another groomer screwed up. He is totally uneven, some random long patches, some random short patches, shave marks going vertical against his hair(a first time groomer mistake), one of his legs is TWICE the length of the other, and the hair she left on his head has ridiculously long parts that weren't touched with short patches in between. She did not even trim his nails. He looks like he was sheared like a sheep(non-groomers made that analogy). I've worked with groomers(as one myself), I know exactly what she did. She hastily shaved him(like a sheep) because she didn't want to do the work. She probably over booked with too many dogs and did not want to put the effort into my dog even though I warned her he would take all day. She then quickly bathed him and left him in a kennel to dry instead of blow drying him, blaming a made up condition of his fur and skin to excuse her lazy actions. She saw a big payday with little work and took it. RUINING MY DOG IN THE PROCESS!!! His hair is not supposed to be shaved so it might not grow back. I went back the next day to speak with the owner. Her and her front office assistant were defensive and gave incredibly terrible attitudes the second we walked in the door. She wouldn't even look at my dog to see how messed up he was. I'm trying not to blame her for standing up for her employee BUT she didn't even look at my dog. Trying to explain why this was unacceptable she and her assistant kept cutting me off and blaming me for the whole situation. Realizing there is NO REASONING WITH THESE PEOPLE, I asked for my money back(I planned on just asking for the extra charges back but after the horrible customer service I decided all of it needed to be refunded). At first she refused but after I demanded 5 times, they finally refunded my money. Don't make my mistake, PROTECT YOUR DOGS AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! read more

My dog was attacked here during day care back in October 2017. At the time, he was just a 10-month old puppy. I got a phone call from one of the staff members who left a voicemail stating that my dog and another dog were playing "rough" and they believe the other dog's tooth snagged my dog's coat. She followed up with saying my dog was being taken to their vet for stitches. When I called back and asked what breed of dog my dog was bit by, they told me they didn't know. I asked about camera footage and they told me none of the cameras were working at the time. When I initially started bringing my dog here, I was told that the small dogs had a separate play area from the large dogs. And several times when I picked him up, I witnessed the large dogs in their own play area. Knowing this, it didn't make sense to me how my dog ended up with this size of a gash and 15 sutures (if he was with same size dogs). Needless to say, I knew they were guilty of negligence somehow because the owner paid the vet costs in full. My pooch is now super anxious when he sees other dogs, especially when they're larger than him. There was also a time or two prior to this incident that he had to stay for a weekend. Each time I picked him up, his food was barely touched, if at all, and his treats were never given. I would leave instructions on his food bags and still nothing. I literally had a can of wet food for them to mix with the dry because he wouldn't eat dry food by itself and they didn't even open the can!! Please be cautious of this place. read more

Awful awful awful. Would give zero stars if able. We got completely fleeced by the tour and seemingly great facade. We left our baby for 2 nights to go on a short trip...not only did her bed disappear with no explanation other than they were so busy. We did get reimbursed for the bed, but that wasn't the worst of it. We paid for the webcam and it wasn't activated for us. After not seeing her on it at all, we called and asked and still didn't get access for quite awhile. Although we paid for a room, our dog was kept in the laundry room until we called and insisted that she get the room we paid for. BIG MISTAKE. At that point, we could check on her via webcam, but we also got to watch her not get access to go outside like advertised AND never fed or given water. Needless to say, I rushed over and got her. WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM. read more

Sadly I cannot give 0 stars. I came on here, and many other social media sites, to look into getting some sort of contact info other than their main number and fax number. I'm writing this as I sit outside Bark Avenue, my dog inside, and I was only minutes late picking her up. I arrived at just about 6:03-6:04 P.M. What kind of business is being run here? One where the employees wait at the door for the clock to hit exactly 6:00 and see who can be the first one out of the parking lot? Now I can understand being beat after a long day, but not even calling the owners of a dog not meant for boarding, I wouldn't have even mind if there was a fee for keeping the dog 1 minute past 6, but I'm just infuriated at the fact that there wasn't even a soul in the parking lot when I pulled in. So now I have to leave my little girl in an unknown place overnight, while I go home and wait for morning to roll around, made a yelp account just to post this. No one should have to go through anything like this, there are absolutely no possible excuses for this what so ever. You may not be swayed by this one review, but I let it happen to me, how many more times before it happens to someone else. Rethink Bark Avenue. read more

To prevent your customers from one wasting their time coming up there, train all your employees to be consistent with your company policy. Secondly, because a customer is slightly out of date on an update of their dogs record, doesn't mean, you treat them like their stupid! You can't fault a customer and their pet because your employees can't be consistent and follow your own policies! It's not my problem that the last two time I brought my dog up there for grooming that his records wasn't updated, so don't try to throw it's a policy in my face!! Tell it to your employees!!! I have recommended you all to so many people and I can assure you, that will stop effective immediately!!! Now that I've picked up my dogs, I feel safe to write about our experience. This was our first time, and perhaps relying too heavily on he 11 Yelp reviews, I made the grave mistake in leaving my dogs here for two dayS. I cut my trip short by two days to come and personally pick them up. Their bedding handed to me soaked in Urine. Every interaction perhaps is too long to recap as a review, however Sarah was at the core of every discrepancy. It began by her not recalling the pertinent information related to her by my boyfriend who dropped them off and her excuse to this was that she found him intimidating? Customer service issues aside, my dogs were let out once a day. Only in the morning. From their webcam which I had open constantly, I could see when the door to their run was open for them to go out. Yesterday morning, Saturday, after I had observed that they hadn't gone out after they arrived at 4:30pm on Friday and were fed, they were never let out. The office closes at 6:00 which is pretty early. At 7:20am I called and spoke to Sarah and she said it was early, but everyone was making their rounds now to let the dogs out. I expressed my concern as I could see my dogs have been sitting in a river of urine all night. 4:30pm- 7:30am is along time to go without being let out. Needless to say, this was not our only issue during this weekend. There were multiple lies, evasion of questions and overall, a horrible experience. It goes without saying, we won't be returning. Perhaps my standards are too high for the care of my boys but this was a weekend of neglect for them. 5 staff members for 100 dogs is a bit much. She also said they didn't go out more become it was very hot... This is true... But they still need to relieve themselves even if it's for 2 min. She then said that she was not given any medication or instruction medication upon drop off. She was corrected by another gentleman there. No chart this is written on? Again, just don't go by Yelp, research, visit, get the webcam and draw your conclusions read more

Left our baby there for a 5 day while traveling out of town 8/2017. Paid for video to watch over him. During our initial visit, we had high hopes. Person was exceptionally nice. Talked a great game. Sadly, I experienced two issues and haven't been back. 1) I watch and watch, never saw him our in the run attached to the room area nor did I see him gone from room longer than 30 mins. This seemed to me he did not get full access to day care as advertised. 2) at one point he was at the door with his "got to go!" sign. It was 5pm. I called, got a person and told them, my dog needs to be let out. The reply, they are in for the night. What? I hadn't seen him leave the room since 1030am. So where is his night break? They then said it was about to rain. I insisted. Good news, I watched them take him out. read more

Great place to take your pet for boarding. I left my Jack Russell for 4 days and when we got back she was as happy as could be. I used to dread leaving my pup behind however Barks Avenue makes it as easy as can be and I dont have to worry about how my dogs doing when Im on vacation or traveling. Peace of Mind!! I'm not a Florida native, Nashville TN is my home town. So I had absolutely no idea what to expect when I brought my dogs here. Pet boarding? Daycare? You mean to tell me I can PAY someone to take care of my dog while I'm at work? That's all this plus some! The first thing I noticed is that it's locally owned (support small businesses!) and that every person I met was extremely nice, and knew my dogs by name at the end of the day. My dogs were worn out! We've boared our dogs here quite a few times, for a few days to a month,and have always had a good experience. We even trust them so much, we left our dogs for a month while we went to Hawaii! Our dogs are always happy when we drop them off & pick them up. Staff is super friendly and all of them seem to really love animals.Facility is nice & clean. After a less than stellar experience at a prominent boarding facility we found Bark Avenue and absolutely love it! They fed them on their schedule not the facility's and asked detailed questions so that the dogs were not stressed. We've used them for grooming and boarding now. If you want people to take care of your pets the way you do at home please call Bark Avenue. Our picky Bichons loved it and were freshly bathed, relaxed and happy when we picked them up. The best place ever for boarding your pets!!! I have a German Shepard, Taz is a little over a year old so you can imagine, lots of energy! My husband was out of town for work then I had to take a 10 day trip for work as well. Our neighbor told us about Bark Ave so we took Taz there and he had the best time ever! The staff honestly I can not thank them enough for treating my pup like family. But I have some advice for people bringing dogs in: 1. Make sure your dog is socialize and somewhat trained. My Husband and I brought our dog in 1-2 times a week every week for daycare leading up to the trip. It makes the transition easier for your fur baby and its also helps the staff get to know them as well. 2. Make sure you bring your fur babies favorite toys, it helps the staff out alot especially if your fur baby has issues with coming out of their room. 3. I can not express enough make sure you do daycare prior to stay... it helps the staff see how your fur baby interacts with other dogs and how they interact with the staff... also the staff will give you feed back on how your fur baby reacts to the environment and staff, It will help you with things to work on at home to make you and your fur baby more comfortable with the stay. I am going to continue to bring my dog there once a week for daycare because I love the staff and so does my dog. Thank you guys for making Taz feel like he has a home away from home! We have been Barks Avenue customers for many years. I really can't say enough wonderful things about the owner Ty and his above and beyond customer service. Barks Avenue is hands down the BEST facility I have ever brought my dogs too. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else to go. Not only does the owner instill excellent customer service his staff does too. My dogs were very happy there, I think. Usually after I've been away they won't leave my side. This time they seemed to want to go and hang out and play more! They were bathed before they left and the bath was included. I could also watch them online here and there to see how they were doing! The place is really cute, and the people there are very sweet. Also, it's not too far from the airport and on the way if you take 9A from the beaches! Very convenient! Overall, definitely recommend. read more

This place is really clean and the staff is friendly. They have a really nice spot to drop off your pups because it has a resort feel to it. I wish that it was an easier process to check in on the doggy cam. You can't do it from your mobile phone. read more

Update to the first post. The follow up by the owner of the business came the following morning. He was very apologetic and made sure that we knew he addressed his staff about everything that went wrong. He reimbursed the vet bill and called us to make sure that our pup was ok. Having just moved to the area I was nervous about a new place to take my two dogs. Friends recommended Bark Avenue. I went in to check it out and was so impressed with the place! Kim at the front desk gave me a tour and explained how their day would go while there. We dropped them off, were able to watch them via the webcam, and picked up two happy but well-played out doggies. Definitely going back! read more

Updated rating and earlier review. Long story short, I've boarded and day cared dogs here over the past 2+ years without issues, but did encounter one during my most recent trip. Picked up my two dogs on a Sunday after a 4 night stay. One was fine (an alpha Malinois), but the other was not (a submissive Aussie). Unfortunately, the owner was away for the weekend and the staff did not notice my Aussie had somehow been in a fight and was injured. While not entirely uncommon for dogs in these facilities, I was upset the staff did not inform me nor notice before bringing her out to me. Thankfully, they agreed to an immediate refund for the entire stay and advised I take her to the vet and they would cover any costs. I emailed the owner (Ty) that afternoon with all the details and followed up with a call at 7:30am Monday morning. He immediately knew who I was and what I was calling about. Not only was he extremely responsive, apologetic, and took responsibility for the incident, he even offered to get her in at his own vet immediately. He reimbursed us for her antibiotics same day and followed up with my husband and I separately. I don't think he could have responded any better to the situation and I'm extremely confident he took the proper actions with his staff to avoid this happening again. It's hard to rate a facility separate from the staff separate from the owner. I do believe this was an accident and would overall recommend Bark Avenue. For any facility not just here, I do suggest 'testing' your dog/s over day care and short boards until the pet/s and you become acclimated with the environment and staff. Don't hesitate to ask to meet Ty yourself while there. He is the original and current owner. read more

I wanted to say please be careful boarding your animal here. We dropped 2 of our dogs off here for a week to be boarded,, and we were told they would be treated like a family member, and with love and attention. I'm sorry to say, but they did not receive this treatment. One of our dogs ended up getting a URI and also ended up with a collapsed trachea, and was purple when she was finally found by a vet tech on the property. Who knows how long they took to get to her, by this result, at least they made it to the er one time. I am extremely upset over this and disappointed they didn't bother to call and let us know what was going on with her, even after calling and checking on them, I was told they were fine and happy and doing great...it would be been nice if they had bothered to let us know what had happened instead of lying to us and also not telling us what happened until we went to pick up our dogs. We could view them by video but when after a few days they decided to do "maintence" on the system, now I wonder if they were trying to keep this from us by saying it was "maintence" they were doing on the system. We have never had this happen to us before at the vets office when we boarded them, and thought this would be a treat for them, but unfortuntely it only resulted in almost losing one of our dogs...I am furious and would like to warn others about this so maybe it won't happen again. We will never be leaving our dogs here again. read more

After reading all the reviews, I decided that this was the place to take my dog. My husband and I personally visited the place and it was everything the reviews said it was....however, after dropping my dog off with certain expectations of keeping my dog comfortable. Needless to say, nothing I asked them to do was done. To make sure....I paid for the web cam services only to see some very upsetting stuff. For example, one of the employees came in to fill the water bowls only to turn around and hit my pet with the bucket to get him away from the door so he could go about his business...NO WAY do you hit my pet. I called the office to let them know "HEY! I'm watching you and I just saw what you did to my pet and I ain't pleased" only to be told they will talk to that person and apologized to me. I'm far away so I had to settle for that. But the kicker to this story is that when I went in to pick up my dog, they said he had just been bathed and brought him out to me...Guess what - he was loaded with crap (poo) all over him! When I said something they grabbed him and went to rinse him up quickly. He did not get a bath like I was informed. Listen - all the reviews you read aren't always truthful as I found out. if it wasn't for me monitoring my dog I would have thought the same things as the good reviews: "They are great".....WRONG! Monitor your pet in this place and as far as I'm concerned this place ain't all that it's cracked up to be and don't worry - the owner is going to take care of his employees and something will be done about this! RIGHT!!!!!! How about a refund? I paid for a service and I didn't get the service that was expected, but what I did get was a surprise! MONITOR YOUR PET and you'll be surprised at what happens when you're away!!!! read more
