We just picked up our two dogs from Happy Hounds following their second short stay here, and I could not rave more about the level of love and care these employees showed us and our pups. Every time I have called, Margaret made sure to answer all of my questions and ease my mind about having to leave them for the weekend. Took my 3 dogs here for the first time as they were recommended by my vets office. I was nervous as my 2 German shepherds are 'Covid' dogs and haven't been socialized as they could be. Brian and his staff were amazing. Brian took special time to work with my shepherds (my beagle happily joined the other dogs in the play area) as they were nervous especially my big boy. They went to the 'beach house' which is a huge area sectioned off from the main areas. It was a great piece of mind to be able to check up on them on camera. Brian and his staff show a great patience and understanding of dogs especially those who aren't as happy go lucky as others. I'm looking forward to taking them back for extended stays. read more

Understaffed. When I was there multiple dogs were jumping over barriers and almost escaping. Staff was nice but definitely not trained to handle the amount of dogs there. Some days there are only one person on staff at a time. Really disorganized. Better to spend a little bit more on a nicer place for your fur babies. Honestly have no idea who this guy is but kind if shows how professional this place is airing out other customers business on an unrelated review lol. When I was there over a month ago (I think it was march) I saw many dogs jumping over barriers and only one person on staff other than the receptionist. I had my two dogs with me and decided to go somewhere else after the lady behind the counter was rude and I saw two dogs jump over the fence and the one employee running around trying to round them up. read more

We are huge fans of Happy Hound. The rates are very reasonable for dog boarding compared to the other similar places, especially if you buy a multi-day package. The facility is enormous, including a couple different play areas inside and a yard outside (all with cameras so you can check in during the day to see how your dog is doing). The individual dog rooms are plenty big as well. The staff is extremely nice (especially Margaret, who gave me the tour when I first stopped by to set up boarding) and are very careful to document everything your dog comes in with (food, bed, treats, loveys) so you get it all back when you pick them up, when they should get fed or get medicine, etc. I felt very confident Charlie was in good hands with them. read more

I was traveling through going to a bowl game in Jacksonville. I had my dog with me and needed a place for him to stay while I was at the game and went out afterwards. Happy Hound worked with me to make sure I could drop Odie off and pick him up and not disrupt my travel schedule, even though they had a 3-night minimum for the holiday. They refrigerated his food, which had pumpkin in it. He was very tired when I picked him up the next morning. They, even, sent me a free daycare pass for his birthday! Very, very clean facility with webcams available for checking in on your dog during the day. I haven't tried boarding here yet but so far daycare has been a good experience. The wednesday night free play dates are a great way to meet the staff and check out the facility. This is one of the few daycares I've seen to allow toys on the daycare floor. That worried me at first because my dog is super protective of (and tends to destroy) tennis balls. I warned them about it and they didn't bat an eye, said they were ready and that they keep so many balls on the floor that there's no chance for arguments. The one time my dog played a little too hard (He's a 76 pound muscle bound jerk sometimes) and scratched his head, they called me immediately to let me know. When I got there that afternoon the area had been shaved so they could clean it and make sure it wasn't bleeding. Excellent communication. read more

While dropping my dog off, he did not acknowledge or greet us. When it came time to pick up my dog he left a disturbing voicemail stating how he felt for caring for my dog and that i needed to come pick them up immediately. According to his fellow employees, Jack was having an "bipolar" day. which i completely understand if he was having a bad day however personal matters should not reflect on his place of business. I called to see if it was possible to get my German Shepherd a bath and brush. Even though it was last minute they happily fit her in. After about 1h15m, my dog was ready. They did an awesome job on her. She smelled good, had a soft coat, and didn't have the giant clumps of undercoat working out of her coat. The facility was huge and was clean. It didn't smell like dogs. The staff I spoke with were all very friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone in need of a dog grooming. read more

My German Pointer, Bismarck, LOVES Happy Hounds, and so do I! First and foremost, the facility is all indoors, which means the dogs still get to play in inclement weather. Also, the staff are so friendly and know my dog by name. There are cameras on the play areas so you can watch your pooch romp and play (and since I take so many trips and miss my doggie, this is a great feature!) The facility is clean, staff cleans up messes quickly as well. Dogs are truly loved here and everyone greets you and your dog with a smile. I almost don't even want to give one star to this place. I took my sweet baby to the Shirley location when he was little and it seemed fine. I took him back when the Beach blvd. Location opened and was so upset, every pet parents worst nightmare came true!!!!! My sweet puppy was attacked while in their care. I got onto to the sight because I had an odd feeling and their cameras were down, again. I got one of the young girls who told me that sh was just going to let me talk to her manager after asking if my baby was alright. As the phone was passed, clearly, I heard her state to the manager, don't worry she didn't see anything on the cameras, she's just calling as a worried pet parent. After that statement, the manager proceeds to begin telling me this event that was supposed to have taken place between my puppy and another dog but was friendly wrestling and my puppy got injured. When I went to pick my sweet baby up he couldn't get away fast enough. They took him away from all the other dogs saying it may be calmer for him, um what?.... My sweet boy ran into the windows trying to get away and out of there as fast as he could. Hen I got home to the car, he was shaking so badly and jump at every sounds I began to cry that I placed my puppy in harms way. I got a made up story of what happened, a half hearted apology and that was it like my pet wasn't a regular so who cares. I can promise you he never will be back. Beware of where you take your fuzzy children. Make sure that they are being cared for properly, that the staff is train on how to do so and there are enough of them to do so. I know the explanation I was given was in no way possibly true. My baby had several wounds and injuries and and he was checked out we were told he was attacked by more then one dog for sure by all of the marks and wounds. I don't think anyone was paying attention and none of the staff no what really happened. For that, and for my choice, my baby was very traumatized. He's still very hesitant to play with other dogs now and it breaks my heart. This is not even close to what I was promised for my special baby and the care he would get if he was trusted to your care. It still upsets me terribly. How many animals are attacked in your resort that you had no idea who we were if you truly wanted to make contact. No one did when it happened, after it happened, or the next day! My family and I were relocating from Tennessee to Puerto Rico. While we needed to get our vehicles and household items shipped we found Happy Hounds Dog resort and decided to keep our 3 Saint Bernard's/ Newfoundland there at the resort for a full week. I got to watch my babies on live camera daily. I saw how well the staff cared for my babies as well as all the other furbabies at the resort. Everytime I called they answered all my questions. I can see the staff are cleaning constantly and interact with all the dogs. The staff are wonderful. On top of the excellent service they provided me it was extremely affordable. I couldn't be any happier with the way my babies were cared for. If I could give 10 stars, I would!! We've always taken our dogs here, but the quality of care has been on a downward trend. I got charged $30 for an exit bath and picked up my dog covered in dog poop. They need better staffing or set limits to the amount of dogs they care for at a time because they clearly can't handle the amount of dogs they take in. read more

I read Tara N.'s review. I'm really sorry to hear about her poor pups nose. Separation anxiety can cause dogs to do crazy things. However, in defense of Happy Hounds, to others reading reviews, please note that she seems to not be too crazy about other places she takes her dogs to. She also gave a dog park a negative review. Happy Hounds is by far the best place we have ever found for boarding or daycare. I'm sure if had they had noticed her pup had injured it's nose they would have addressed it & called the owner. My recommendation to anyone considering using Happy Hounds for daycare or boarding would be to take advantage of their FREE Wednesday nite Parents & Paws events where they open the floor to the owners & their dogs to play, as well as meet the friendly staff & take a tour. In my opinion, boarding is stressful on any dog but we as dog owners can try & help alleviate that stress by making our pups familiar w/ the place they are going to be staying by bringing them for a trial daycare day or Parents & Paws night so that the dog/s has the opportunity to become familiar & comfortable w/ their new surroundings so when it's time to board them, it's not so stressful & scary to them. I know there isn't always the opportunity to check out a place before boarding, but in most cases, owners know at least a week in advance they are going to travel & board their dog so a trial run for a few hours at a new place is always a good idea. We bring our pups regularly to Happy Hounds & will continue to do so. If you are reading these reviews & trying to decide if this is a place for your precious family member, then again I recommend Parents & Paws night, or their 2hr introductory doggie daycare or just pop in for a surprise tour. Let Happy Hounds speak for itself. From a very picky person as to where I leave my dogs, I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed! read more

Happy Hounds provides an amazing environment for your furry friends. We have used them on multiple occasions and absolutely love the staff and facilities. The Webcams are a great feature and are a fun way to see how the dogs are interacting. We have left our dogs for a weekend and over a week and had a great experience. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely loves the animals. The separate areas for different age levels is great as we have a shy 12 year old three legged dog and an more active 2 year old. On our extended vacation I called every day and they were never annoyed to give me an update. I am so thankful to have such a great facility so close to home! read more
