We have been purchasing our dog food and treats here for a year or more. Weekly we spend around $40-$50 in wet food and treats. Monthly we spend $89 in dry food. This is around $1500 a year. If you see my spouses comments from earlier, you'll see I bought a beef treat this week for my dogs and it splintered into shard like pieces, not safe! I brought the treats back to get a refund or exchange them for a safer treat and was told no. I have 3-4 pet food stores locally I can shop from and have chosen Bark Ave. but no more. You would not let me exchange 2 $8 treats and now have lost $1500 in a customer. Lucky my dogs are safe so far from the dangerous treat you sell, but to treat me like a first time customer doesn't say much for your store. Bye, bye and good luck! read more

I absolutely love coming here. I always bring my dogs here (Shasta and Kobe) they always get bathed,extra brushed, and nail trip. The girls are super nice recently I went to pick them up and they came back with bows on them! (How cute!).. I don't think my Akita (boy) liked it so much. Recently when I picked them I noticed my Akitas back left nail was cut a little too short, but everything else is fine! I just won't get their nails trimmed here, no big problem. read more

This is my go to pet store. It's clean, organized, and the staff is always friendly. They have a full grooming center and self service bath. The self service bath prices are a little high compared to others but it's also cleaner than others. They also have a great selection of quality merchandise. read more

I have given this store my business for quite some time now. I have two very picky cats. I have had trouble getting the only brand they will eat ordered. I asked for a phone call, so I would know if I need to worry about being able to pick up the food I need. No phone call? No one can even say if it was ordered. I went to this store for the first time on Sunday. Very clean, easy to find items. Plus the dog food I usually buy is $5 cheaper than anywhere else. I'll definitely be coming back for that. The two things I have a problem with though was that not a single employee asked if I needed help finding something, etc. The two girls were focused on talking to each other to even acknowledge customers walking in the door. DON'T BRING YOUR DOG HERE IF IT WILL CHASE CATS! They had 2 cats loose in the store. Which is fine, but I know this can be extremely dangerous with dogs who have issues with cats/ prey drive. I have been working with my dog on her love for chasing kitties so she was fine for the most part, but when one of the cats kept following us around the store, my dog kept pulling on the leash towards the cat. Oh and I overheard an employee tell a customer they don't allow self service grooming on Sundays. read more

I took my Mini Schnauzer to Sierra at Bark Avenue to be groomed. She was wonderful both in interacting with ZoZo and with grooming her. Very reasonably priced..,, and ZoZo loved her! Definitely a high end store for purchasing dog food. But the staff is always knowledgeable. Additionally, one of the young ladies went out of her way just because I asked. My big Lab had been having a return of depressive symptoms, as he'd had in the past. He was having a difficult time just urinating. So when he picked up his leg, the employee and I were shocked! I quickly explained his story and how smart, at least he was going on the bunny litter. Thank you a million! Dogs can be as sensitive as humans! Great customer service and fairly priced. I take my dog here to give him baths in the winter so we both don't have to brave the hose, super easy and there is always a spot open. I also take him to the groomers in the back to get his nails clipped and have never had any problems. read more

The owners of the store are very hands on, friendly and knowledgeable. They know about their food products and are happy to explain the ingredients of what they carry. Their staff are also very friendly and I've been there several times. At, one visit I was there a few minutes after closing and Ken, one of the owners, was cleaning the floors and he opened the door for me and was glad to help me, which was nice because I was out of cat food. He took the time to open up the cash register for my purchase, which wasn't for a large purchase. My groomer is Jessie and she does my two little dogs - one is a mini poodle and the other is a Havanese. She does a great job and they come back to me looking great and smelling great. Fun place! Great retail items, and great customer service. I had to remove a star or two for the grooming. Our dog had several cuts and clipper burns that they forgot to inform us about. I would've understood if the groomer told us about them, but to act like nothing happened to him is very annoying. He could've gotten a terrible infection from those cuts/burns. Luckily I saw them and was able to monitor them. It was disappointing because I really felt like we found a great groomer. read more

I love this store!! They have everything you need for your dog. (and cat too). I buy pet food, treats and toys here. And collars and leashes. Love the bath area...great for bathing my English Golden Retriever Bristol Belle in their "self bathe" area. Started bringing her as a pup a few months ago. She does NOT like the blow dryer however. She will be a year old Dec 17th so I am treating her to a grooming by their staff and maybe they can help her to enjoy the blow dryer! Prices are very reasonable on everything. Owner and staff very knowledgeable about the foods they sell and are good about recommending products to fit your pet and your pocketbook. I absolutely despise this store and today proved to me again their customer service will NEVER improve. Three customers are bathing their dogs in the self serve area. No clean towels, nothing was clean and the sales girls in the front just sit around and talk. No one will help you. None of their sales people check to see if you have what you need and considering it's $15 to bathe your own dog I would think a smile would go a long way. I have been off and on with this store since it opened and I can't believe they haven't gone out of business yet. read more

This place just opened! They have great staff, a great Selection of products and great prices! We are so glad this place opened in our area! During our first visit here we found that they have the dog food we have been using and it is $8 cheaper a bag than where we were buying it! Also, the best part is that the groomer, Danell, we have been going to for years (we previously had to go to her in Fair Oaks) now works here! Yay! Danell is the greatest! My review is solely for the self wash station. Shame on me for not doing my homework ahead of time. I just moved here from Sacramento where I took my Shih Tzu and Maltipoo(I think) every 2 weeks to Pet Food Express in between grooming appointments. This is NOT the place to go if you have multiple dogs you are trying to bathe. There is no place to secure the pup that is not being bathed so I held one on their leash and had the other tethered to the tub...which I could not have done had I not had my own carabiner. I'm not willing to secure them by their neck. The booster shelf they had for the smaller dogs kept slipping and falling, which caused a bit of canine panic. After we muddled through a very clumsy and uncomfortable bath, I looked around and they had only 1 dryer and it happened to be in use. This was the most unpleasant experience for me and my dogs. I ended up leaving with them wet and dried them at home. Thank goodness it was warm outside. It was only $12/wash-I guess that's a Wednesday special....it was a waste of $24... I should have and could have washed them at home. It's not likely I will ever go there again. The staff was nice enough when we got there but no one paid us any mind when we walked out, wet and upset. There are enough other places in Rocklin where I can get healthy, natural food for my dogs and there's a Pet Food a Express at the Fountains. I really wanted this place to be cool but it's just not set up for multiple dog washing. read more

I cannot express how much I appreciate the staff at Bark Avenue. I went in looking for the usual dog food that I buy my dog (which I always thought was above and beyond what normal people fed their animals) and found out that there was a lot of byproduct in my dog's food. They recommended an all natural food (which they only carry natural pet food) specifically for small breeds. They were NOT pushy or tried to sell me.. they simply were recommending switching to a natural food that would benefit my pet. I really felt the staff was knowledgeable and had an interest in the well-being of my dog. I have been back to the store twice since then and plan to make this my only place to buy dog food. read more

Came here on a holiday right before they close to use the self dog wash. As I'm washing my dog the owner comes over and starts to help me. She was super friendly and treated my dog like a princess. They did a great job trimming our pets nails. However we bought a VERY small box of treats for $6. Neither of our dogs would touch them let alone sniff. We asked to return or get store credit. We got a big fat NO. They were not willing to even work with us or offer a bone. Showed us how much they stand behind their products. Customer service stinks!! read more

My first visit was my last! The shortsighted and inflexible manager lost (what could have been) a very good customer. We just moved to Northern California, and were happy to find a Pet Store/Groomer down the street from our new home. I went in several days ago to buy food, supplies and toys for our newly rescued dog. Also to inquire about grooming service. RED FLAG #1. : There was no requirement to show proof of rabies or other vaccinations. I was told I could just fill out the paperwork myself. (I've had many dogs over the years- and THAT was a first). RED FLAG #2 : My dog literally destroyed all 4 toys in less than one hour. ( Different manufactures - including Kong). I brought them back the following morning with the receipt -( Around $45 wasted). The manager was adamant in his refusal to take them back. I was made to feel it was my fault for choosing the wrong toys for my new dog. Not only was he condescending in his manner of communication, but actually told me it was "A business decision". That, he doesn't get reimbursed by the toy companies- ( Really not my concern!) AND-- "If I did it for you, I'd have to do it for everyone". SERIOUSLY??????? Having spent my career working in management, it is hard to believe the company made a "business decision" over $45.00, thus losing potential for hundreds of dollars, as well as a loyal customer. -For the safety of our pets, proof of vaccination is a must. -For customer satisfaction, I suggest basic management training . read more

My dogs just got the best haircuts ever ! Kirby is her name , she's new there and I can't say enough nice things about her . My one dog hates hair cuts but she knew exactly how to make his experience a great one. They both look amazing and are as happy as can be which makes me feel the same . First time at the Bark Avenue in Rocklin CA and I was so impressed! We stopped in to use the DIY dog wash. The store attendant had just cleaned them and closed the station (he was the only one working at that time). He should have turned us away as it was 20 minutes to closing, but he didn't. He was so gracious and let us squeeze in a much needed bath for our dog. I really appreciate the awesome customer service! The store was clean and well organized so we will definitely be back to shop. The DIY bath stations were great. The tubs had room on both sides so you and a partner could wash your pet together. It was easy to get the right temperature water in the bath, and (to my surprise) you can choose between 3 different soaps and they offer canine conditioner. The soap actually works too - we didn't need to use the soap we brought from home! It was so easy to switch from wash to rinse, and the water stream was not too forceful but still effective. Overall, it was a great experience! read more

We always wash our Rottweiler ourselves. Outside in the summer, inside our bathtub in the winter. It is really a strain on the back, leaning over the tub and holding her head up, etc. Then walking her outside in the cold to dry her off all the way while my wife cleans up the bathroom floor, tub, towels, etc. This place is a Godsend! Bark Avenue is Awesome! From the staff, very helpful and friendly, to the tub and drying area, the facilities are clean and they supply Everything you need including ear wipes for the dogs ears! Amazing!!! No more aching back and no cleaning the facilities or towels! Yay! We bought one use of the bathing facilities for $15, then decided this is SO WORTH IT, that we changed it to a "buy 5, get one free" for $75. Thank you So Much for making this all so quick and easy!!!!! read more

I moved from Folsom and been looking desperately for a good groomer for my 11 year old shih tzu. This place fit the bill. I was able to easily schedule his grooming appt. the groomer asked appropriate assessment questions as a new client. He was done in an hour and a half! He is very weary about pulling the hair out his ears and she was able to get that done as best as possible. I def see myself as a regular here! Pleased so far! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. The grooming service had absolutely horrible customer service, the woman who was working had a horrendous attitude problem that showed she was annoyed and irritated that I had brought another dog in to be groomed. She huffed and muttered under her breath the entire walk over and showed her lack of interest in earning my business. I had an appointment scheduled and after seeing her display of "customer service", I canceled on the spot. Dog grooming is not cheap and I will not give business to a person who treats customers in such a way. I also noticed a larger dog, who was waiting his turn to be groomed, being held in a cage designed for an animal half his size. He seemed squished and extremely uncomfortable and did not have me feeling good about leaving my dog with them. Overall, terrible first experience and first impression, I will never return and advise any future customers to be aware of these issues. read more

All the girls at Bark Avenue have always been very helpful when I ask questions and my dogs are super happy for all the yummy treats I give them and with their new food. Yeah there are some items that you can find cheaper online(this is true for like everything) but I still give them my business almost a majority of the time because the store is great and nothing beats being able to see what you're going to buy before you buy it! I'm so disappointed with the grooming department. We've been going here for 3 years and have always had a great experience. This last visit was horrible. Usually I would have given them at least a three . But I went in yesterday in the morning. one tub was out of order which I know things happen, but then when I finally got to use a tub the middle one didn't soap right and the lady in the first tub said that they said something to the front and they just gave them a bottle of shampoo to use. Okkkkk... So she nicely let me use the bottle . When we finished and paid they not only raised their rate but charged us full price after their tubs weren't working properly. I would have just bathed my pups at home . I bring them here because it's easy and the dogs get really dry. Gotta say I'm going to try a mobile service or look elsewhere. Will not return . read more
