We were able to get our dog a new toy here at a reasonable price and the store owner is so friendly; she was chatting with everyone. We visited with our two dogs and I was so excited to see all of the cookies in the case. We ordered a cookie and a whoopie pie for the dogs. When we arrived back at our airbnb, I wanted to cut the whoopie pie treat in half and split it between the two dogs, but to my dismay, the knife would not go through. I tried another knife with the same result. My husband then tried. The whoopie pie was rock solid. We ended up throwing it away unfortunately. The cookie was fine, but the whoopie pie was $7. Certainly disappointing. The staff was super friendly and gave our dogs treats while we were in the store. read more

Cute store in which to find tons of items for your pets. We wanted to buy some locally made treats for our grand dog and this was the store. We opted for bacon cheese o's which I know Millie will love. Loved the little pet paws painted on the front step. You can tell the owner knows and loves dogs and cats. Fun stop. read more

My friends and I traveled from the DMV area to Maine during Xmas. Bark Harbor was one of the only stores open during the season and we were so glad! Everything inside was super cute, and the dogs loved being there. They had mugs, sweaters, collars, toys, dog treats, and more! What a cute little shop! And such a creative name! LOL. What really counts here is whether my dog likes the treats. We were on vacation for a week in Maine. I stopped in one day and got one pack of the pumpkin biscuits and gave it to our dog later that day who we brought along on our trip. She loved it. Her tail wouldn't stop wagging for more. A couple of days later, we decided to stop by the store again before we head home to get more of the pumpkin treats. Unfortunately, they had already sold out. I got some Blueberry and Apple Cinnamon biscuits instead. She also loves them too. The Blueberry is harder and has a different texture than the other two. I was told that the biscuits should have a shelf life of nine months. But I'll tell you that the three bags of treats that I got will not last that long in our house. There were plenty of other fantastic treats if you're celebrating a birthday too. There are so many cookies some shaped like lobster, a football, dophins, octopus, watermelon, pizza, donuts, and a whale. And they're all safe and edible for your furry friend. read more

Locally owned awesome pet store! They have cute leashes, collars, toys, travel pet accessories (poo bag holders/refills, spill water bowl for car, boat,etc), water feeder for your purse or bag that snaps open to a bowl and squeezes out water. We love their local homemade treats and they have a "bakery" counter with the cute, fancy design treats. They also sell CBD treats we got this time. We always stop here everytime we come! I know they sell specialty foods so maybe call ahead if you need something specific. Of course, dogs are allowed in the store! read more

This Pet Mom of 4 was super happy to find Bark Harbor on a recent visit to Bar Harbor. Located on Main Street, Bark Harbor has a great selection of pet souvenirs, accessories, gourmet treats, and local homemade treats. The homemade treats were comprised of some unique flavors, such as apple cinnamon, banana carrot, cranberry, blueberry, etc. The ingredients are also clearly listed on the front packaging so you know exactly what your pet is consuming. The ladies working here were the absolute sweetest! They were also very knowledgeable about the products they carried and answered all questions regarding food allergies. My fur baby is turning 5 this week and we saw the cutest birthday cookie in the display case. When the ladies found out we had another fur baby, they threw in an extra one so he wouldn't feel left out... fantastic! Thanks, Bark Harbor! read more

And if I'm not able to take them somewhere with me, they're sure as heck getting a souvenir upon my return. Phil thinks I'm crazy. But when I spotted this shop, we had to stop. I was initially disappointed that the store seemed to carry more items for dog owners (cards, tees, picture frames, etc.) than for actual dogs. Great little store and friendly shopkeeper. We were there on a rainy afternoon with my little 4 lb chihuahua, who isn't quite so friendly... yes, he growls and barks when he feels his 'space' is invaded. Nevertheless, I had him bundled (it was cold) and had him in my arms when walking around Bar Harbor. When the shopkeeper saw him and approached us, I warned her about him not being a super friendly dog. She didn't even blink and immediately offered to provide him with a small treat. Did the treat help? Well... not really. He gingerly took the treat, chewed it, and allowed her to get closer to even 'almost' pet him... then he started growling again.... more training needed. But, the shop is a delight. With many selections that I could spend a lot of time there. One thing my husband and I noticed is that we usually have a hard time finding min pin stuff (we also have two min pins) in pet stores. But at Bark Harbor, we actually found quite a bit of min pin stuff. Of course, we ended up buying several items and probably would have spent more there if we had stayed longer at Bar Harbor. read more

Very nice, quaint shop, and obviously dog friendly in a town that is swimming with dog friendly places. We used their website when planning our trip because it had a list of pet-friendly hotels and restaurants. They also handed me a printout of these very same places when I went to the store and even showed me on the Acadia map a nice off-leash area for our dog to run around. It's a little small, but we somehow found $80 of things we wanted to buy. Good selection of novelty stuff, treats, and toys. We bought some treats, a car magnet, and a box of home-baked dog treats (he wasn't thrilled with them, but they were cute). Very friendly, very helpful with dog-friendly locations, and a must-visit if you're visiting with your pup. read more

You know I had to really thing about the fourth and fifth star. Yes, its a dog store full of stuff, but honestly I didn't buy anything even though I had a dog with me. It's a small shop very well decorated and put together. There isn't as much inventory as you would think, but because it is so small it looks like there is tons of stuff. There are some great healthy treats that are as close to homemade as you can get. But it had mostly chatskies for people who like to collect animal type stuff. The staff didn't even acknowledge me (and I had a DOG with me) and I found it over priced. Not impressed at all. read more

My husband and I visited this store a few times when we were in Bar Harbor. Once on a whim. Second, on purpose. The staff is gracious and kind. The store is set up for animals to visit. Not a lot of room for the meeting of the fur minds, but it is a store, not a playground. They have toys, bandanas, food, treats, bowls, collars, leashes, etc for the furry ones. However, they have gifts for their human companions as well. We all enjoyed the visit. We bought some special treats. Our boy's birthday was coming up. They have cute birthday treats. All their treats last 3-6 months. The treats, depending on which one, were a little pricey. However, it's the boy's birthday! We also got our guy a lobster...when in Maine... I bought my dogs coordinating lobster-decorated collars and leashes here : pink and light blue for her, navy and red for him. Helpful and friendly staff. Pet-related signs, car magnets, hats and socks, mugs, and so on. I always see something clever that I've not seen elsewhere. The shop is not large, but the merchandise is very well chosen. Definitely worth a visit! P.S. When I asked for a product the store does not carry, the store clerk thoughtfully offered the name of another local store that does. You can pick up some standard dog toys such as Kongs, but there are also a fair amount of custom jobs as well. Bought my beau's pup a raincoat here after a weekend of hiking in mist and cold drizzle. Great selection of stuff for your dog and dog related stuff (you want car magnets that proclaim your love for your Baegle, they have it). The place was packed with people and their dogs, and the staff was super friendly and attentive to us and our little beagle mutt. They definitely spoiled her with treats, as she's very good at begging, and they also helped us try on practically every raincoat in the store to find the right color and fit. Cute dog friendly pet store with friendly staff. They have the typical brands that you'd find at Petco as well as other items you probably won't find elsewhere. The space is a but tight so if you have big dogs, make sure to browse carefully so you don't knock anything over. If you are visiting with your dog, definitely pay a visit just to browse too! We take our (very spoiled) bull terrier here each Friday for her weekly treat. Once we turn the corner of our street, my dog knows exactly where she's headed and hauls butt to the shop. The owner special orders a big bag of our cat food for us once a month, gives the dog a little treat each Friday, and are so friendly and nice to chat with. Stopped in to buy a leash because our weim pei puppy chewed through her retractable leash.. The sales lady spent 20 minutes with me helping me find a leash and harness for her even helping to measure her. Buy lupine leashes if they chew through them they will replace for free ..
