My dog was groomed at Bark Now on July 3, 2024. When I picked him up, his right eye was closed, and he was obviously injured. When I asked the owner Tucker what happened, and he grabbed my dog's eyelid, pulled it open and said, "It's nothing, probably just a little hair from the blow dryer." My dog was in obvious pain. He came home and hid under the couch, obviously in significant distress. We spend July 4th in the Vet ER. My dog was diagnosed with a massive corneal ulcer caused by cleaning chemicals getting into his eye. I phoned Bark Now the following day and spoke with the groomer. She told me Bark Now uses DISHWASHING soap to shampoo the dogs (their website says they use "luxury" products). If dish soap gets in a dog's eye, it will cause extreme pain and damage the eye. Tucker returned my call later that day and angrily denied everything, except for the fact that they use DISHWASHING soap on the dogs. He said it's what all groomers use and it's fine because this is the same kitchen soap that is used on birds who get injured in oil spills. He told me they weren't responsible for the injury, and he refused to compensate me for vet bills. The next day the owner's mother called me back and apologized for her son's behavior. I finally did get paid back for the 5 vet visits and all the medication that was needed to heal this injury. There is something very wrong at Bark Now. The groomers aren't properly supervised. And the owner Tucker is confrontational and not customer friendly at all. BEWARE! I do not recommend this place. read more

at first they were great! But the last few times that I brought Chihuahua mix, I noticed he didn't smell as if he had a bath. He didn't smell bad, he just didn't smell like he did the first four times he had been there. I shrugged it off and assumed they used a non scented shampoo. I also notice that his nails were getting longer, I'm not an expert, but I don't think that's how it works. The final nail on their coffin was the last time I brought him. I dropped him off at 11:30 and received a call at 11:52 stating he was ready. At the time I didn't notice what time it was I just knew it was quick and I had a lot going on that day, so I was glad. When I picked him up, I noticed he didn't look like anything was done to him, but I just assumed I was being ridiculous because why would they be charging me for something that wasn't done. Now, when my husband saw him, he pointed out that he wasn't wearing a bow that they normally put on him after getting a bath, so we investigated him and noticed that he smelled like they just used pet wipes and just trimmed around his face and clipped the tips of his nails to make it look like they were cut. That's when I looked at the time they called and realized that there is no way they could've given him a bath, trimmed his fur and cut his nails, properly, in 20 minutes. I was so angry I couldn't go back inside and say anything without overreacting. Had they told me they didn't have time to keep his appointment that day I would've gladly reschedule. read more

I took my tripod into them yesterday and it was very simple what they needed to do. A bath, drill the nails and trim the hair between his pads, butt and penis shave. He already had a full body haircut about a month ago so didn't need another one. The groomer never came out to greet me when I arrived nor when I left. I told him that my dog had some pitch on his chest and some on his back paw. When I arrive my dog was crying to get to me which she's never done. Not sure what happened in the back room. He was still damp from the bath not fully dried. I could see they shaved his butt and I think they just cut his nails but did not drill them down. Big difference. The pitch was still there and the hair between his paws did not look like it was trimmed nor his penis. I paid them $50 and I gave a $10 tip which I regret. I should've checked him out first before I left there but was in a hurry to get to another appointment. Also on the way in I had a really bad odor of trash or something else that permeated the whole office space. I canceled my next appointment I emailed them and they never responded. So it tells me they don't care. I'll be going elsewhere. read more

I got my very sweet, tender hearted cat groomed here and I won't be returning. I was his pregnant mom's foster home so i have literally known him his entire life. He is a big guy--not fat but huge! He has a ridiculous amount of fur and has been getting groomed his whole life. He is 3. Usually he growls the whole time but goes with the flow--but wants you to know about his disapproval. When I arrived, I was told it would take about 2 hours--WHAT???? No cat wants to be handled by a stranger for that long. I got a call that he was done in about 30 minutes and I was there to pick up my sweetie within 10 minutes. They charges me $80 which is ridiculously over priced and then proceeded to hand me a "report card" that said he needed to be sedated for his next visit. When i inquired further for details i was told he was "special"--that doesn't mean anything and I wanted to know what happened to my best friend. That response was enraging. From the moment I arrived, the vibe in that place just wasn't as peaceful and pet loving as all the other groomers who have successfully groomed my cat. (I travel so i have seen a bunch of different groomers in action with him and previous pets.) The groomer came out and sat on the floor--do you even know cats? That is a move to make fast friends with a dog--not a cat. It was ridiculous. His haircut is practically perfection but I prefer a ok haircut and a non-traumatized cat, any day. It has been a week and he was so freaked out by whatever they did to him (which i don't know because they didn't talk to me and handed me a "report card" which is so rude) that he hasn't left my side since. Asked for mats to be brushed out and was charged extra for dematting and it wasn't done at all. Brought them back 3 x and it still wasn't done correctly! I have 2 Great Pyrenees dogs who are our everything. we cook for them, they have access to go in or outside all day everyday, they have an acre of fenced in area, a pool, a king size bed. They are very loved! our male GP gets matted really easily and did eos not like to let us brush him. I took him to get groomed today becasue he is starting to Mat up under his chin and on his back side. she came highly recommended by someone I know who has a GP and has hers groomed monthly. Fred is a working dog and is not groomed monthly his previous groomer recommended every six months. the groomer at bark now belittled me and told me I neglected my dog. Needless to say I did not have her perform the service on him nor will I ever spend my money at such an establishmen, and I have put a complaint into my vet and his massage therapist/physical therapist. She apparently is not as familiar with the breed as I thought she was. read more

We've been taking our golden retriever to Bark Now since he was a wee pup, and we've always been happy with the work they do. I have to say though, for the past few trips, we have been increasingly disappointed. Seems like things may be going downhill. During check-in for the past few trips (probably 3-4 appointments spaced 6-8 weeks apart), the groomer has informed us that they are "really backed up" and it will take longer than usual. When we ask if we should come back at a time closer to when they'll be ready, we're told no...that would mean we would lose our appointment altogether. Fair enough, but then it takes 4.5 hours to get our dog through his appointment? Seems a little unreasonable, especially when they used to be done in 2 hours. The final straw came during our last visit when our dog came back with his ears shoddily clipped practically down to the skin! It seems that they're chronically understaffed, overworked, and now turning out less-than-stellar results. Sorry Bark Now, we've tried to stick it out with you, but we'll be moving on to another groomer. We do hope you get your situation sorted out, as we really did love the work you used to do. read more

I have taken my dog there three times now and will not be returning. Jenna was the groomer on each trip. The first time she shaved my dog down to the skin without advanced notice because he had 'mats'. His coat was not that bad at all and my previous groomer at Hollywood Hounds in Bedford had taken the time to use detangler and brush him out instead. I gave them the benefit of,the doubt and came back with request to clean up his face and head, do a sanitary cut and trim the hair on his tail. When I came back his tail was not done but the sanitary looked fine and his face had been done. When I asked them to take him back to the grooming area and cut the long hair on his tail as it was not sanitary long, they cut the hair at the base half but not the rest. I gave up and left. Today, I again asked to have a sanitary cut, his face and head and to please clean and pluck his ears this time as it had not been done the previous visit. Two and a half hours later I was told he was ready and I came in only to see that his face had not been cut and his tail had not been cut and I asked it to be done before we left. The groomer was annoyed. When he was brought out again I looked at his ears and saw they were dirty, hairy and had not even been cleaned. I came back in and showed the receptionist who got the groomer who then insisted she had done it in her usual way and I should be satisfied. She did not care at all that his ears were dirty and he still had lots of ear hair. I have attached photos taken in their parking lot right after we left as well as one of his butt to show that he was not well cleaned or given a sanitary cut. The location is very convenient for me which is why I gave them three tries before giving up. Perhaps other groomers there are better but the one covering Mondays and Saturdays is really not up to the job. I wish it were otherwise! read more

Huge THANK YOU to Kris!!!! She took incredible care of our long hair, Siamese mix kitty who was in desperate need for grooming! Our Pandora is aging and can no longer take care of herself the way she once had. She was getting very matted and so uncomfortable. Pandora isn't friendly with others and had never been groomed before so of course we were anxious for all parties. Kris was so knowledgeable and confident, I had no hesitation in leaving our cat with her. She took time to comfort and calm Pandora before she did anything. Her care and concern for our beloved pet went above and beyond! The Lion cut she gave Pandora is gorgeous and our Pandora is so happy! She wasn't a fan of the bath part but not many cats are! Contacted Bark Now at the recommendation of a friend. I have a large Irish wolfhound who is fearful of people and is just getting over a shoulder injury. She is in desperate need of having a nail trim as I hadn't done her nails at all while she was getting over her injury so now she has very long overgrown nails. I contacted Bark Now about a nail trim for the hound. They would not allow me to be there with her or help hold. Apparently it is not their policy. I have always previously helped with getting the hound settled and comforting her while her nails are being done. I have never had a groomer object to my help as an experienced dog person and this girls breeder, for such a large hound. I will be looking for someone else. Very disappointing. read more

I took my dog here and when i got her home she would not stop shaking and flopping her head. Her ears were bleeding. The vet told us it was because the groomer cut too close to her ears. I also found a cut underneath her leg. Ive had my dog groomed at chain places and she's never come home with a cut. We have since learned to groom our own dogs as a result of this negative and traumatic experince for our 9 pound pup. Noone informed us of our dogs injuries when i picked her up. My dog is very difficult to groom due to her attitude around other dogs and strangers. I've been bringing her here for a few months now and the team has catered to her amazingly. They groom her as quick as possible to minimize her stress (usually in less than an hour) and even on the first visit when the groomer felt uncomfortable grooming her they called me right away to come pick her up which is exactly the right way to handle the situation. They also use CBD oil which really helps calm my dog down. Really happy I found this place. read more

Took my Cockerpoo to Bark Now on Thursday last week. She has gone there for years and had good grooming. This time, when she came home, one of her ears had not been cleaned at all and was full of hair and wax and dirt. Also, she had been shaved all over with no attention to cut or details. The other ear was clean and good. I called back Friday AM, brought her back to get the dirty ear cleaned again. "Shanna" supposedly cleaned the ear but when I got her home, it was still dirty and full of wax! Haven't been able to resolve this as of 3 days later. After inheriting my mother's miniature schnauzer that had never been groomed, we took the shy little guy to Bark Now for his first grooming experience. The staff was very sensitive to our family's loss and was wonderful with Bebbes, even offering complimentary reiki for him to help with the stress of losing his mom/owner. I am always looking for a good groomer who can handle the serious job of tackling the undercoat and breeches of a long haired dog - well Bark Now does that very well. My dog also does not like his nails trimmed but they were able to do it and said he was very good. Whenever I take him, he looks fantastic. They also gave me a free picture of him with a fancy background and bow when I picked him up. I love it! They also give your dog a report card on how he/she behaved during the grooming. Not at all pleased with this company. My dog suffered severe corneal damage while under their care. I had to bring him to the ER vet where he was diagnosed with a significant corneal ulcer. After many ointment applications, pain medication, and multiple visits to the veterinarian and ophthalmologist, his ulcer has healed but he has scar tissue over the area that was damaged. Beware of this groomer! They didn't even make me aware that he was in pain and/or hurt and it was noticeable that something was wrong with his eye because he wouldn't even open it. How could they not notice this if they were taking such good care of your pup? read more

I disscussed with the owner the appropriate grooming package after she had a lot of time to assess our small female Australian Shephard. She recommended and we chose the basic package for $55 and it would take 2-3 hours. 2 hours later we were called, she was done. When we arrived to pick up our dog, surprise - the bill was for $60 as she had "a little too much underfur". Well, our dog's coat was assessed prior to the service and it took less than the estimated 3 hours so I was scratching my head and held firm on the price quoted. I realize it is only a $5 difference but being a person of principle and a business owner myself I felt it was a terrible business practice to charge more without calling, especially since she was done well within the expected window of time. How many others are lured in with one price only to be charged more, with no discussion or choice? Our Aussie looked and felt clean but the trim was minimal and very blunt and unnatural looking. Her nails were not trimmed as promised. I definitely will not return. read more

The last time I took my little Bischon there she came home with not only a bad cut on her tummy, but she also had FLEAS!!! This place is great. I recently moved to Concord, with three Maltese overdue for hair cuts, and they did an absolutely fantastic job with them at a very reasonable price. In addition to their hair, the groomers also clipped their nails, cleaned their ears and brushed their teeth (another great need). They also advised me to a limp one of my dogs exhibited, which is a long-time ailment but I appreciate it because I've found kennels and groomers often don't want to mention any issues, regardless of whether it happened under their care, because they could get blamed for them ... I was referred to this establishment by a very well known person in the area, esp. concerning dogs. The first 2 times I explained how I wanted our dog trimmed - as they had asked. I also explained that he required treats and be rewarded as he does not like being held down or in place. I was assured they would work with him and NOT hold him in place. Both times he was not groomed as discussed, but he was happy as they had rewarded him with his treats. The 3rd time, not only did they take off the entire white tip of his tail fur, they handed me back his bag of treats and said he "didn't need them". And why was that? BECAUSE HE WAS HELD DOWN. My dog was so stressed and upset that he hid in the corner while waiting for me and couldn't get out of there fast enough. It took over 4 hours for him to relax again. And for $60 plus a tip?! No thank you. If they can't listen to a customers request, forget it. They totally lost my business. However, to be fair, I know several people who have great experiences. read more
