However, I was very surprised when I asked what a typical full daycare day actually looks like. I was told the dogs play for about 1 1/2 hours in the morning, are then crated for approximately 3 hours, play another 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon, and are then crated for another 3 hours. If they're still there around 5:00 p.m., they're taken outside for a potty break before pickup. For me, that was shocking. I completely understand that dogs need rest periods, but I wasn't expecting that the majority of a full daycare day would be spent in a crate. My dogs are rarely crated at home, so this wasn't the right environment for them, especially considering the cost. I'm sharing this because I think it's an important question that many people may not think to ask. Before enrolling your dog, ask exactly what a full daycare day consists of and how much time your dog will actually be playing versus being crated. That information made my decision immediately, and I chose not to leave my dogs there.
