Nice clean dog park located off Rifle Range Road behind the Mount Pleasant Waterworks facility…read more It's a little difficult to find so make sure to keep an eye on the signs with arrows pointing toward the "Dog Park"; it is located behind some baseball fields next to the water waste facility. We are very happy we found this dog park for our Boston Terrier Buster who needs to run our his puppy energy; and our back yard just isn't cutting it. We took him to the park today and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the park is; it was clean and well kept and had two nice sized fenced off-leash areas for small dogs and big dogs. There is also a marsh walking trail for the dog owner to enjoy a leashed walk with their dog too.

And right off the bat, they've got all these official looking metal signs posted everywhere, therebis a lot of signs and i read them all, stain on me if i break a rule. They put up a big sign that says "SMALL DOGS" right on the fence, as if the small dogs give a damn about reading signs or care which side of the chain-link fence they're supposed to stand on. My big dogs love small dogs and hate big dogs, how peculiar is that? ​And then there's this ridiculous notice from the Mount Pleasant Waterworks that practically apologizes for existing. It literally tells you that the place is right next to a wastewater treatment plant, and that "at times, odors from this plant can be less than appealing," but "unfortunately, those odors cannot be eliminated." That killed me. I mean, at least they're honest about the smell, but it's just so depressing when people try to sound all polite and formal while telling you the whole place smells like sewage. ​They've got rules posted all over the place, too. Endless lists of stupid things you can and can't do, like everybody's going to read a giant essay on a fence before letting their hound run around. But the dogs don't care about any of it. There was this one collie just sitting out on the dirt trail in the woods, looking around like he was the only genuine thing in the whole damn state of South Carolina. Dogs are alright, mostly. They don't act fake or pretend to be something they're not, unlike the people who put up fifty rules and a giant sign warning you about bad smells. ​Anyway, if you like walking around in the woods near a water plant with a bunch of chain-link fences and warning signs everywhere, it's fine, I guess. It just depresses the hell out of me.

The large dog park is connected to the lake and there is no fence in between the lake and the park so make sure if your dog likes water to bring a towel! There are a couple picnic benches that are underneath trees and poop bag stations at the front of the park. There's tons of room for the dogs to play and run, but no obstacles around just grass and dirt.

They have multiple places where they can go swim in the lake, they have acres and Acres of just open area to run on, they've got trees and bushes to run in and out of and you and I have plenty of places in the shade to sit and watch it.

Actually when you park by the rec. center you wouldn't think there's even a dog park until you see a tiny sign with a man walking a dog. Nothing is really taken care of but it kind of feels more like a dog park in the woods and our pup loves running through the woods so this was right up her alley. It was quiet and so pretty as the sun was coming through the trees. This is a straight run of the mill dog park no extras or frills. Simple fence and water for the dogs otherwise they pretty much left it. Again, I don't hate that because I really want my pup to run (she doesn't really play or the "toys"). Eventually a young girl came with her pups and Stella got to run even more. Just a nice fun morning exercise.

There are two separate watering facilities as well as one in the double-gated entry area. The small dog park is basically just a long rectangle with nothing in it. But the big dog park has some agility items as well as a few trees and what appears to be benches that are meant to seat either tall medium or short people? Short walk to a board walk that a nice bathroom, showers, water refill station and even a dog bathing area. Very impressive! Short walk to the water. It's was low tide so plenty of beach to walk on. Headed down to the end on the right side about 1 1/2 mile walk. Saw two dolphins and rare birds that were migrating. Off the tide is in the beach area to seat on will be limited. Great place to walk your dog and ride your bike.

Although showers were plentiful, there needed to have some within closed door locations for those seeking complete privacy.

Super fun place for my 5 year old, he requests to go to this park specifically :) There are also tennis courts attached so bring your racquets. Parking is designated on the side, and free of course which is great. There's also a wooden seat around a big tree and a gazebo for parents to relax. Wonderful park! Take your kiddos!
