I wish I knew about this spot sooner, it was so much less crowded but perhaps it was the time of the evening. You can go in and pay for parking or find limited street parking. We came here just before the sunset, but there was a huge cloud blocking the sun ‍ but the sky was still really pretty. We just posted up on the sand and relaxed with the nice breeze. Definitely want to come back another time during the day!

Beautiful spot, not too crowded everything you need here. Area is removed from houses and development.

Truly one of my favorite places! This part of Folly Beach is so beautiful. There's both perfect spots to lie down and have a good beach set up and also plenty of beach to enjoy a walk as well. I have seen a lot of wildlife here including dolphins, bonnet sharks, crabs, helmet crabs, star fish and plenty of birds. I have also found many beautiful shells and shark teeth here. To get in the county park you either need the gold pass for county parks or it's $5 on weekdays and $15-20 on weekends mostly. A plus side of this parking cost is that this part of the beach is less crowded. It's open until a half hour before sunset. There are beach showers by the beach entrances and a large central building with clean bathrooms, chair rentals, snacks and nice Adirondack chairs to sit in. This part of folly beach overall fells like less of a tourist spot and is both beautiful and relaxing

$20 entry but great amenities and setup.

Great day at eve beach. We passed lots of public access beach parking along the way to this park but the wife wanted to have facilities close by. $20 to get into the park but they have a snack bar, beach rentals, and those all important facilities. I even noticed a rental venue on the property and someone was there getting married. Pretty cool. I'm assuming that $20 reduces the party crowd a little and that was fine by me for this visit. Great location and I flew my drone for some great video and pics.

Folly Beach is incredibly beautiful. One of the best places to enjoy the beach is at the Folly Beach County Park on the south end of the island. The amenities are perfect for the family to enjoy a day of fun in the sun. For only $5 a day per car, you can park, have access to changing rooms, showers, bathrooms, snack bar and endless miles of pristine sandy beach. You can even leave the park for lunch and return later in the day with your receipt. The staff at the gate is friendly and will offer information about the beach and island. The park opens at 8:00 am and closes at dusk. There is parking for 100s of cars. People come to swim, walk the dogs, surf, collect sharks teeth and shells, bird watch and relax. There is a strong rip tide at the south end of the beach which is well marked. Life guards are on duty during the peak season but were not on duty in December. We loved it so much that we went every day during our week long visit.

We came out here on a Friday morning. This time of year (October) the parking is only $5. There was plenty of spaces close to the building. They have bathrooms, though the only ones open were the two family restrooms so there was a bit of a line. The ramps out to the beach were really nice and there were showers to spray yourself down which was nice since our feet were super sandy. The beach was very nice as well and wasn't super crowded. There were lots of dogs too so that was nice.

Low tide is the time to go! Plenty of sand and the waves are far enough to hear but close enough to run in.

Great place to enjoy Folly Beach. If you're out of town they have everything available for rent. Restrooms and showers. My advice is to check the tides before you go.

Nice, big and convenient beach near Charleston. Has some amenities such as bathroom, changing room and a snack bar. I think parking was $15 without a park pass.

I love spending a leisurely afternoon at this park! I'm a gold pass holder, so I come here often. The new beach house and facilities are so nice! Great views too if you want to hang out with a good book under the awnings. I always walk away from the populated area of the beach and this park allows you to see the pristine beauty of the dunes and ocean. Today I saw dolphins frolicking off shore as I walked along. My favorite time of year here is in the fall when there is a slight chill in the air. Perfect for a meditative beach walk!

Great spot for a picnic, walk along the beach or just enjoying fair weather! The Visitors Center has a snack bar, public restrooms and post beach rinse showers. I don't recall the cost for entry but an annual pass is really the way to go.

Great beach with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. It was not super crowded and was very clean.

With a Charleston County Gold PassCard, parking is a free. Outside sitting on the deck (some areas shaded) and "dining" (once you buy from the snack bar). Good views over the dunes, toward the ocean.

Simply a forgotten treasure. Pay $10 and enjoy the day. Bring your own chairs and umbrella or rent. Snack and drinks at a little cafe or being your own. Not sure if you can drink alcohol on the beach, but the vibe is laid back. So, if you decide, be discreet. Don't litter. Be sure to check out the "Wishing tree." Find a shell and make a wish. You won't be sorry.

As the Maid of Honor, I was in charge of plans for the weekend and I wanted to start the trip with my own version of a bike tour around Folly. I called 2 days prior to our arrival because I didn't initially think we needed a formal reservation, but started to get nervous as we got closer to the trip. When I called, the guys told me it would be no problem and they would have 10 bikes ready for us at 11:00am that Friday. I wasn't sure what would happen when we arrived, so I held my breath and crossed my fingers all would work out. I was ecstatic when we arrived to see Will and Cameron already at the door waiting on us!! We were maybe 5 minutes or so after 11:00 (10 girls can be a lot to get out the door) but they both commented on us "being on time," so I felt much better. They got us setup and on our way very quickly. I even asked for some of their "expert opinions" on restaurant/bars we should stop throughout the day and they provided us with great recommendations. I think having the bikes on a Friday was perfect because we didn't run into too much traffic and it felt very safe everywhere we went. We were really sad to return the bikes at the end of the day. I thought we would only spend a few hours on them since Folly isn't that big, but we were having so much fun we stayed on them until the shop was closing. By the end of the weekend, I asked the girls what their favorite part of the trip was and the most common response was the bikes!! If I had to do it over, I would probably pay to rent bikes for the full weekend. It was the best way to get 10 girls around Folly Beach!

I did actually learn from an out of towner that there is an app that can be downloaded called Passport Parking. It offers a discounted rate, but is still $2.50 an hour. I think the rate is a deterrent IMO, but I guess the city of Folly Beach has to generate revenue somehow. At high tide, there is not a lot of beach area, but after the renourishments, there is some beach at least. Do not climb across the rocks! Use the crosswalks instead and save the sea oats...the few that still exist. Also, do not litter! There are trash receptacles scattered along the beach, usually at crosswalks, but pack your stuff in and out like an adult. This location is locally named for the strong currents and the fact that the narrow land has actually been washed out. After Hurricane Hugo, a lot of effort went into re-creating the road and beach that exists today. It was completely washed through to the River with a drop off of probably 20-30 feet where the road should have been. The name was used way prior to Hugo, but that event just embodies the vulnerability of the area and the potential impact of the wonderful surf/waves that we all love. Pura Vida!

We had a mixed experience with the condo itself, and after writing the review below I realized My Ocean Rental doesn't have a place to post reviews online (nor can you see any reviews from previous occupants of specific condos you might be considering). To get around that, I will post the combined condo/company review here. Condo unit #301 at 201 W Arctic was the least well-stocked of any we have rented, but the condo property was clean and My Ocean Rental staff was very responsive and friendly. We would not choose to stay in this specific condo again (ever) but we would stay in another My Ocean Rental property. Here are the pro's and con's as we saw them. PROS: -- Beautiful beach, great access to the beach, nice pools, very close to Folly stores, coffee shop in the Tides next door. -- The outdoor condo property was very clean, great access to trash cans & recycling with lots of room -- Plentiful shopping carts near the elevators came in handy -- Sand rinse station just inside the locked gates was easy to use and very tidy -- Response time when we had a clogged tub was fast, Charlie was friendly and helpful and can fix just about anything. -- Keyed entrance to the front door allowed any member of our group to run up to the condo without getting a key. -- Porch is very large with nice table/chairs available, good view of ocean (though not a full Eastern view, mostly the Tides parking lot with the ocean to one side) -- Seating was ample with big leather couch, ottoman and large table with 8 chairs. -- Plates, glasses, mugs and silverware were ample. CONS: -- The dishwasher in Unit 301 DOES NOT clean dishes! When we arrived the center spray arm was laying in bottom of the DW. I re-connected, but to no avail. Dishes got rinsed (I guess) but the soap was mushed in the bottom of DW when cycle complete and random dishes were still slimy. -- Badly stocked kitchen. The chintzy old can opener does not work (we borrowed one from the owner's parents staying in the facility, thanks). The absolute BARE minimum of other cooking tools are provided, and these are the cheapest quality. There are no measuring cups, spoons, spatulas, pancake flipper. The only spice is salt. No filters for the coffeepot (but we left about 96, so unless the cleaners dispose there should be plenty for the next family!!) -- Sprayer for the kitchen sink completely broken, missing squeeze lever. -- Next time I'll pay more attention to photos of the kitchen in units I rent. This one needs a makeover and has cheapest of cheap counters, sink, faucet. I expected more for over $400 per night. -- Would be nice to provide more than 1 roll of TP per bathroom for clients staying 2+ nights. Would also be nice to provide hand soap, dish soap and at least 2 kitchen trash bags per day of rental. This was not expensive, but definitely registered as an annoyance given the price. -- Two of the bathtubs were completely clogged when we checked in. Left standing in 15" of dirty water by the end of my first shower (gross!!). The back bathroom is probably still clogged because Charlie fixed the middle one but my kids didn't tell me until later theirs had the same problem. -- I was reminded how much I dislike electric stoves, but I suppose that can't be changed. -- There is no working lighting in the middle bedroom, only a small lamp on the bedside (there is a big lamp on dresser but it doesn't work). -- Multiple bulbs were dead in the kitchen, dining area. I like to read honest reviews, so I hope I have provided one. Again, we WOULD rent from My Ocean Rental again, but I will avoid Condo #301 unless the kitchen, plumbing and lighting get some serious attention.

For me, the check-in process was very easy. There was some miscommunication with the staff however because when they started going over the instructions I was left out while they addressed what looked to be a bachelor party. I assumed they were tackling the party first then would address me but instead started addressing a group birthday party. I had to track someone down as it was twelve minutes past my launch time and they were only focusing on the groups not me who was solo. They were pretty quick about grabbing me a kayak and told me to take a life vest from the birthday group, handed me a map, and then let me be on my way. I like that people with their own gear are allowed to pull up and launch. This worked out great for my friend who didn't need to rent anything. They're located on Bowen's Island that is in the marsh. It's quiet and relaxed and fortunately for us there weren't many boats in the water when we went. Overall it was a good experience. The staff were friendly, the location convenient and easy to access. (Though the road down is littered in potholes. Be mindful and drive slow or you'll be smacking your oil pan.) Ubers were coming and going all morning and dropped guests off right at the front door. COA also offers fishing off their dock for $3. There is a launch fee if you bring your own kayak or canoe but to be honest I can't remember what it was, though I remember my friend saying it was very affordable (so maybe $5/10?). There is a shark toothing expedition as well that I know is a longer paddle and a bit higher of a fee. Tours are offered if you don't feel confident paddling out in your own. I'll definitely be going back!
