My goldendoodles hair cut looks great. We asked for her to be shaved down pretty short since her hair grows so fast. Only giving 4 stars because (we have never had problems taking my dog to the groomer or her being around other dogs) but for some reason they told me she was very nervous and suggested getting some "doggy Xanax". They also said she didn't play well with others, which I find very odd because no boarding place or groomer has ever said this before. I didn't like these comments very much but other than that they did a good job on the hair cut. It took around 4 hours. read more

I took my dog, Lady, for her first grooming today. I had an appointment. I brought my dog at 9:20. I was told I'd get a phone call when she was ready to be picked up. Three hours later I hadn't heard anything. So, I called them. I was told that it'd be another hour, that they were starting her now. So my dog, already nervous from never being around so many barking/whining dogs, was kenneled for three hours listening to the barks and howling of other dogs waiting to be groomed. Now I understand being busy, but my dog did not get the chance to go to the bathroom or get any water. She peed as SOON as I got her outside on grass. When we got home she drank all of her water immediately. I don't think it's right to keep a dog locked up for three hours with no bathroom breaks and no water. I find that cruel. When I was checking out, they let me know that Lady was "too nervous." I had warned the employees ahead of time that she's a timid dog who'd never been to a groomer and they agreed to be patient with her. I don't feel like that was acknowledged. My husband and I are not happy with how our dog was treated and we will not be returning to Barkberry. read more

SO DISAPPOINTED!! Came in for my dogs first haircut & we showed them a picture of what we requested. Not only did she not look ANYTHING like we requested, but they only trimmed her face & shaved her butt and didn't touch the rest of her body! My poor doodle looks worse leaving the groomer than when she went in. Save yourself the heartache & don't take your precious pups here. WORST EVER! read more

While I much prefer writing favorable reviews, if customer service is poor, it is important for potential customers to know. They decided to close on a Tuesday due to "inclement weather" and failed to call us. As a result, I wasted 25 minutes in the car and still need to get my pup groomed. They offered no more than an apology and said they didn't have my number. It's also worth noting, the inclement weather is nothing more than cold temperatures. The reception staff is friendly and that's where my compliments end. I've brought my yorkie here 3 times now. The first two times the cut was just ok, I gave them a picture of how I wanted her face cut. It didn't even resemble it. She basically had no fur left on her face. I want the traditional yorkie bob. I didn't say anything, just figured it would be trial and error with a new groomer. The third time I brought her I restated for the 3rd time that I just wanted her trimmed up and I want fur left on the sides so she could get back to the bob she used to have with a previous groomer. This time she was nearly bald and in fact there's a large round hole cut into the fur on her chest and you can see her skin. It looks ridiculous! She doesn't even resemble my yorkie. My husband said she looks like she had a stroke because her face was cut differently on each side. I have no idea what kind of cut she got, but I paid 70.00 for it. I know mistakes can happen, but they should've told me they messed up. But I think they may have been too busy to have noticed. read more

This place has gone downhill. The last two times I have taken our dogs here have been disappointing. Two visits ago I got our little dog groomed here and she had some of her fur on her right eye ball. The groomer had also trimmed around her eye too closely that she kept blinking and it wouldn't stop watering. I did not make a complaint because I figured it was an accident and I would give them another shot. This past weekend I took my dogs back and my golden retriever had wet ears. As a result she was matted and now has an ear infection. They also only bathed my little dog when I had asked for her to be groomed. Every time I scheduled an appointment in the past I get her groomed. Instead of being apologetic and offering to get her in for a cut the receptionist wanted to argue with me and said the owner would call me. Still no call & now they have lost my business. read more

I dropped my dog Chloe off for bath/deshedding and nail clip. They did a great job and Chloe seemed to love it there. She is a rescue and can be very timid but they made her feel at home and safe. Highly recommended! read more

The groomer for my dog was lazy. My dog's coat was dull and look like a worn out carpet with clumps. I found out my dog was cage dried, and scissor clipped and they didn't even brush her out! When I pet her clumps of undercoat came out and I brushed out a ton of fur, she has never shed much. The cut was hacked and choppy. They didn't rinse her out thoroughly because she was extremely itchy, and I had to bathe her again. She is still chewing her foot because I think her foot was hurt somehow. I had requested one specific groomer because she did an excellent groom once before. It makes me wonder if I was deceived about who really groomed my dog. I sent manager screen shots of pictures and consults from expert groomers, but received no response. They will not post my review on their fb page. If I could give a rating lower than 1, I would. read more

The groomer doesn't look at your notes on styling your dog. I dropped off my Shorkey & came back with no hair in his face and didn't shave where I did request to. This has happened a couple of times before. All they ever say is "sorry" and still take your money. read more

I took my new shihtzu puppy to her first groomers appointment at Barkberry Place. This is the first dog we have ever had that needed grooming so we weren't quite sure how it would go. When we went in they didn't ask what we wanted done and just took her back. We warned them that she was a very scared and timid dog and to be careful. They just said they would TRIM!! around her eyes, around her bottom, her feet, and clip her nails. We assumed since we had an appointment it wound take long we waited around for 2 hours before we had had enough and went inside to ask them what was going on.. then they told us they were just finishing up on her after 2 hours! Even though she is a small 8 pound puppy. When we got her back she was shaking and had her nails out and wouldn't let go of me. She was obviously scared and had been kenneled all alone for at least an hour even though we had an appointment. To add to that they didn't even do a good job. They told us a trim but they shaved her bangs off flat to her head, and shaved in between her eyes, and didn't trim under her beard, NOT A TRIM! They also shaved way to close on her feet I can see her nails when she walks and the cut is very crooked. Next her bottom, it looks like they just took a razor and shaved a large square around her butt, no blending at all, there were chunks of hair that had been shaved off but not pulled away flying everywhere. On top of that there were matted knots all around her butt. I was devastated when they brought her out. I am VERY VERY unhappy with my experience and will not be bringing my business back to Barkberry place EVER again. read more

We have gone to Barkberry Place for the last 3 years and Mindy is supposed to be grooming our toy poodle. I say "supposed to be" because her cuts have not been consistent as of Late. We started going to her when she worked for another shop and we prefer scissor cuts because they look more even and professional and she did a great job. Everyone has always commented on how sweet natured our dog is and how good she is when being groomed. (Every groomer we have taken her too has made this comment) HOWEVER!!! This past June 9,2020 when we came in to pick her up from being groomed she had about a one inch cut on her leg right above the knee joint. They claimed she had it when we brought her in! Like we wouldn't have noticed a one inch cut on such a small dog. They were not telling the truth. I had brushed her the night before her grooming for about two hours to get out as much of the tangles that I could so that it would be easier for them. She had not so much as even winced and I brushed out all four legs nor was there any cut present!. She was walking fine when we took her and not holding up that paw at all. When we got her home she could not walk on that leg and even when you held her she was holding that paw up. My husband called them back to talk to them about it and they did not answer. He left a voice mail and they did not call back. I called and they did not answer and I too left a voice mail saying I expected them to call back. They have not called back yet and this is Thurs. We took her to the vet as soon as we could get in and they treated her giving her pain pills and antibiotics. By Thurs. it was infected and we took her back and they have had to keep her there to try to get the infection under control. We have no use for someone who will do something like this to a beloved pet and then try to cover it up. The picture posted by another client that had been there looked much like the cut on our dog. BEWARE. !! All may go well for many years but then one day you may pick up your dog with a similar gash!! read more

I had used Barkberry Place for about a year and had been pleased. The last time I used them to groom my male and female wheaten terriers was a nightmare. I will no longer use them nor recommend them. The groomer apparently did not trim or dry the inside of his ears!! I noticed him rubbing his ears Saturday and Sunday (he was groomed Friday). He laid around and was not himself all weekend. We ended up at the vet on Monday - the vet said he had infection deep in his ear canals. Poor doggie wouldn't even let her look in his ears he was in so much pain !! He had to undergo anesthesia for the vet to remove all the infection that had taken hold in his ears. He had to have both ears treated multiple times a day with antibiotics and wear the dreaded "cone" for 3 weeks until it cleared. I incurred expensive vet bills from the groomers mistake. I texted the owner to let her know and sent her pics of the inside of his ears. She said she would check into it and get back with me. That was last August and I haven't heard back. A refund for the grooming would have been the right thing to do. An apology at minimum wasn't even offered. My wheatens are 6 years old and have been groomed many many times. I have never experienced anything like what happened with barkberry place. read more
