I lost the only FOB I had for my car. After calling numerous places, which were referred by the ones I spoke to prior, I called Barker's Lock Service. All the others either didn't have the program, or they didn't have the correct FOB, or I had to bring my car to them (towed), or they didn't service my area, or they charged an arm and a leg. When I called Jay, he had everything necessary to complete the job. He explained to me what had to be done and he has all the credentials to perform the work He gave me a quote that we both agreed to and he came immediately and was promptly on the job. Jay was the person that I was in contact with and helped me with my issues. I had misplaced my ignition and door key for my 1995 Buick and was referred to Barker's service since Circle City did not have the equipment to replace my keys. Pros: Jay was prompt with our appointment time and made both keys that worked perfectly. Cons: Jay was a bit condescending and impersonal over the phone. The estimate for the key replacements was more on the high-end around $250. My car was parked in a parking deck, which required card access that I did not possess. Jay threatened to up-charge me if he was unable to be next to my vehicle, despite the road next to the parking deck was immediate to my location. I was forced to flag down a random stranger to give Jay access to the deck. Overall, the service was overall transactional. However, if you are considering customer service and friendly interactions, then I would avoid utilizing this service. read more

Key Harbor at Crabtree referred me to Jay when they couldn't perform the service that I needed (a key may to fit my car door lock). Over the phone Jay offered advice on other approaches to my problem I could do myself (maybe the problem wasn't the key). When those things didn't work he came when he said he would, fixed the problem, provided a little extra, charged what he said he would, and was just generally pleasant to work with. I was referred to Barker's lock service from the auto dealership, which gave me high hopes for a positive experience. I received prompt and professional service from Jay Barker when i lost the only car key i owned. He returned my call quickly, explained the breakdown of costs, and set up an appointment. He arrived on time (actually a few minutes before) and went right to work. The fancy-pants type if key I have costs a pretty penny, and although steep, I think Jay charges an average amount for his services. If just above average, he makes up for it with his professionalism. I knew from talking with him at the start that we knew what he was doing and I could count on him to complete the job. I called the Barkers and talked to their answering service. I described my issue which was I needed a new Fob for my keyless car and that was locked out of the car. I left my name, number, location, and car make/model and told I would be called back in 10 minutes. I never received a call back. Another Locksmith I called (also to their answering service). They called me back and said they were unable to help. I assume, Barkers also was unable to help but they did not have the professionalism to call me back. My only key somehow got bent and would no longer turn the ignition. I first called the dealership, who would have had me tow the car there, and then wanted to replace the ignition and a number of other pricey parts in addition to making a new key. I'm so glad I found Barker's Lock Service online after first calling another locksmith who could do anything with car keys. He came out the same day and in less than 20 minutes, made me 2 new keys and programmed them.
