    Cute store
    Greyson N.

Cute little store to pamper our pups. Very cute selection of baked goods for doggies. We found some unique clothes for the dogs: a supreme Louis Vuitton sweater and a prada polo. Lots and lots of merchandise from leads to toys and luxury pillows. The sales associate was personable and we got to chat about dogs. Very cute store and was a fun shopping experience

The closest brick and mortar store for hype-beast pet goods from Pupreme to Chewy Vuitton, this is the place to go. Buyers beware: you will love every single thing for your small pups. The clothes are mostly for small and miniature dogs like toy poodles, Maltese, Bichon, etc. some clothes are. Made in Korea and Japan The epicentre of small cute dog clothes. Staff are excellent, given the location, prices are not pet smart economical, but if you're willing to drop a major coin, you have found your pet store.

In Yaletown with their awesome raincoats from Barking Babies

My dogs love going to Barking Babies, the people there are so nice to them, plus the usually get a treat! They've been groomed there and I bought them raincoats when we first moved to Vancouver. Great quality products, friendly service, nice haircuts = happy dogs.

They severed half my dog's quick during a simple nail trim
    Fifi N.

I don't like cutting my dog's toenails because I'm petrified that I cut the quick. I took her to barking babies to get a nail trim and noticed blood on the ground after I got her back. I complained and they took her into the back to tidy her up. She was there for a while. "No charge of course, she was probably wriggling about like they do" I was told and sent away with a pitiful bag of cheap treats. My main concern was that she'd get an infection walking home so I carried her all the way. On getting her home and inspecting closer, I discovered it wasn't just the tip of the quick, which would be acceptable if wriggling was involved, they have severed half of her quick, see photos. Totally unacceptable. We'll never go back, they have no respect or care for animals, shocking. ****please note**** After leaving my review I received a 'compliment' from a user named 'Ana J', an account that was set up the day I wrote my review.....hmmmm Sherlock, wonder who this user is....I'll leave it up to the reader to decide........ Compliment from Ana J. I can clearly see from the photo that it is the tip of the quick not half. I understand your concern but yes accidents happen especially with dogs that are very afraid and difficult to handle. You can help to prevent instances like this by working with your pet on having its paws handled. Take some responsibility and do some preventative training as this is likely not the last time it's nails will be trimmed. Grooming and nail clipping is not a walk in the park. FYI...many of your reviews a very negative. Try walking in someone else's shoes now and than.

Miso after grooming! (@miso.yorkie on IG)
    Yvonne L.

I've been bringing my puppy, Miso, to Barking Babies for grooming since last year. We've tried multiple groomers in the lower mainland, and Barking Babies definitely our favourite. We usually ask them to shave his body and legs, a round trim for his face, and Yorkie ears. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and they have an amazing selection of treats, toys, and doggie clothes. Some of Miso's favourite things from Barking Babies include his squeaky pizza toy, his squeaky 'grrrona' toy, and the Blue Dane steak bites in the beef & apple cider vinegar flavour! Prices are a little high at Barking Babies, but keep in mind that this is Yaletown. Plus, I don't really mind spending more on my baby! TLDR; Friendly staff and environment. Experienced groomers. Great selection of toys, treats, and clothes, but definitely on the expensive side.

So GLAD that I found the receipt to prove what I legitimately said about this place! Please *be careful* bringing your dog here (I'd say don't bring him here) because not only can the same thing happen that happened to my dog but also the owner "has no records" of us, our dog, and our $90! terrible service! She could not even apologize here on yelp for the mistake that happened during our dog grooming! Instead she lied about it saying that she never heard of us, only because of our HONEST and negative review! Ps.: She shouts out her employees in front of clients too.

Need a coat for your corgi? A sweater for your spoodle? Some bling for your bulldog? Head to Barking Babies in Yaletown for some funky (and lots of frivolous) four-legged fashion. This higher-end pet store describes itself as a lifestyle shop for those who want the very best for their furry BFFs. And it does offer the best, with exclusive doggy clothing lines by Juicy Couture, little lily, and Chi Wow Wow, as well as a range of bath products, canine colognes, gobble-down goodies, comfy cushions, and decorative doggy dishware. But Barking Babies isn't all bark and no bite. The store's yearly Vancouver Home Show Pampered Pooch Fashion Show fundraising dog event is not only becoming a favourite celebrity magnet, but also raises funds to support the BCSPCA.

This is a mecca for adorable boutique dog clothes, toys, accessories etc. Shop owner was incredibly helpful and found me the perfect pink harness dress for my little toy poodle. It was very easy to spend time strolling around looking at all the options. Great stylish brands, a ton of toys and even a little bakery counter. Very impressed.

My dog is a year and a half, and her hair had never been cut ever since she was born, and now it will take years for it to grow back after this. Not only did she cut the fur off, the cut itself was so extremely poor, I've had people ask me if I cut it myself. I posted the post-groom pictures on my Maltese group online, and the consensus was this person is not a "master groomer". Every single leg is cut different, her face is different on either side, there are scissor cuts left in the fur all over her body. She did have a top knot before the groom, and I told the groomer that I like to put it in a ponytail every single day, and she cut it so uneven and short that she herself had to put it into two ponytails because it's almost impossible to have it put into one ponytail with how it's cut. And to be clear, I handed over a dog that had ZERO knots or mats in her fur. I combed through her fur with a metal comb less than an hour before the groomer arrived. Completely devastating when I was so specific. Within minutes of meeting the groomer by her van, she told me that my dog was not a purebred (I have papers), that she had a blocked tear duct, and that her hair would never grow long. I brought her to the vet the next day because of course I was worried if she maybe she did have a blocked tear duct. A $90 veterinarian examination fee and five minutes later to be told her eyes are perfectly fine. And then there another $90 for another groom to have this absolutely terrible cut fixed. What a nightmare. If you're looking for a specific cut, while this person identifies as a "master groomer", the cut she gave she might as well be working at Petsmart, which is where most people thought I brought my dog to have her hair done. So in total, I have paid $358 to have my 5 pound dog trimmed. I also wonder if she is even an actual working groomer now. She showed up in a van that was completely smashed up on the side, and when I looked in her van, it looked more like storage than a place where a dog could be groomed. Never again. So ripped off. The first two pictures are right after the groom in the van, and the last picture is the beautiful dog I handed over to her.

No one answered. The directory was super long and hearing out the options was so time consuming. And the option to speak to the store always rang once then long silence and then ends call automatically. I did manage to get there. And it was 10:30 am. Her appointment was 10-11 am. They agreed to clean her molars which were the ones with tons of sudden build up. But when my dog came out at 11 am the lady Cindy told me she was able to fully clean my dog's teeth because she was such a saint and put up no fuss. yes. She's an absolute princess when it's with strangers. She's stubborn as hell with mommy though. Anyways. For $250 it ain't bad. She went in with build up on her molars that looked like caramel coated popcorn. And came out with white teeth that looked like white strips was used her teeth were clean and white. My dog is 3.5 years old and this was her first dental visit. And she's a bit on the shy side with new people and they handled her so well she wasn't stressed at all when she came out in Cindy's arm. I highly recommend this place for your dog's dental needs. They also offer the full array of grooming services. and I would like to point out for all the reviews on Google that complained the shop did not do as asked for grooming style and technique.... They do what's best for YOUR DOG... AS BEST THAT THEY CAN FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS OF THE OWNER. This shop puts your dog first. So perhaps be appreciative that they don't rip mats from your dog's coat just because you want it done without shaving. Or that you don't like the length of the coat. Even when you go to a hairdresser your hair cut can be a flop. People are human. Dogs are even more unpredictable. They can move or refuse to cooperate. They do their very best based on your dog's behaviour and its needs and your wishes. I witnessed about 7 customers in the time I waited for my dog's teeth cleaning. They clearly go over expectations and their own boundaries that puts pet's comfort and consideration first and foremost.

Due to serious illness, I was slow to reach out and complain. They offered me a second grooming at 50% off. It was a TERRIBLE DISASTER!! They shaved my dog completely including his tail ( a POODLE!) He looked like a rat with all his hair shaved off his body and especially his entire tail!! That was brutal! His face was very carelessly trimmed. My niece, who is a nurse, used her scissors to clean up his very messy face. Both times I had him groomed there, he came out upset and traumatized. Far more serious was the fact that he could NOT walk properly for nearly a week and he absolutely could not run. ( he is a two year old poodle who runs like the wind every day) . Had I not been so ill myself, I would have dealt with this at the time. My poor dog could not WALK!! He'd take a could of steps then sit. He kept turning his head towards his bum. Goodness knows WHAT they did to him! He was clearly in some pain and it was awful to see him trying to walk. So, the other two places I had him groomed were fine. Darma Dog is a place I would NEVER set foot in again. Recently, I talked with a woman at Trout Lake. Her dog had been groomed at Darma Dog. He also could hardly walk afterwards but she determined that his nails had been cut way too short causing pain when he walked. I loved the name Darma Dog. Don't expect good service from him, his lack of Customer Service skills speaks to his priorities...clearly not there to care for dogs, just make money and be nasty when he can. During her last groom with Kaori, I was horrified to get her home and she the extensive damage to her paw in the photo - the black padding was shaved off on one part of her left back paw pad; a huge hunk of tissue was gouged out; and the swollen, painful burned areas around her paw that were puffy they were so inflamed...it was shocking. I texted Kaori the photo and said I understand accidents happen...she just ignored my text and the gruesome photo. But in speaking again with the vet and my breeder, they insisted that was unprofessional and that she should compensate me in some way for the vet bill and a free groom. So I wrote her again asked her to compensate me and expressed that I was not too happy she just ignored my text. She's groomed Annabelle for 13 years...you treat a good client like that? So then I get a call from "the lovely" David and he simply tells me never to come back to their salon...period, end of story. They took no responsibility, denied their responsibility, and had no remorse for all the pain and suffering they caused my dog. Sometimes it takes a long time to find out who you are really dealing with and unfortunately trusting your precious pets with people that don't really care. There is no excuse for bad grooming that inflicts this kind of damage on a dog nor this unkind and unprofessional behaviour when you call them on it. They didn't even care that Annabelle is at the end of her life soon and to change her grooming and relationships at this point is heartbreaking. She such a sweet girl and to see her try to lick her paw so incessantly for weeks is also heartbreaking. Conclusion: don't recommend this business if you don't want nasty surprises. Such a disappointment.

So I called and booked an appointment (they were able to see me in a few days' time), and I was pleased with the whole booking experience (even got a reminder text the day prior). My appointment was for 9am and, unbeknownst the me, the place opens at 9am, and I was early (I always give myself extra time when going to a new place. This dog salon was easy to find, on 1st, right by Cypress, and there was a lot of available parking on the street at this time. Meters don't require payment until 9am, too, so that worked out nicely!). I walked my dog around the area (lots of grassy areas on the side streets. Unfortunately, no trash cans for disposing of the doggie bags, though). I got to Woof's front door at 8:50am and, despite it being closed, someone inside saw me and opened the door to let us in. That was really nice! I met Yuki and Verana (?sp) and they were super friendly, and I briefly went over my dog's history (she is elderly and has Addison's and other..issues). I gave them a few photos of past haircuts my dog had that I liked. I was told my dog would be ready in 1.5-2 hours, and they would text or call me to let me know when she was ready. I received the text 90 minutes later, and when I arrived, I have to say, my dog never looked better! Seriously, what a phenomenal haircut! (I'm posting a few pics so you can see!). It wasn't cheap (in my experience, no dog groomer here in Van IS), and in fact, cost about $5 more than my regular groomer. But Woof's turn-around time is shorter than my usual groomers' (and this is important, for a stressed-out senior dog), and they really have the personal touch here. Even though my regular groomer is a few blocks from me and I walk there with my dog, I just might have to switch loyalties here, I liked Woof so much.
