Since my review two years ago staffing had changed! I love this store more then I did before. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The owner is warm, kind and very knowledgeable. They make and effort to remember all dogs names who come in. They make their customers and return customers feel very welcome. They have beautiful products and fair prices. They also have things for the big dogs! Which is nice because I was two little and one big. All in all I keep coming back! I actually don't shop anywhere else! I love my dog and spoil her rotten. This is the best place to do so. A true posh puppy hangout, great for butt sniffing, bow browsing and playing dress up. I was here 6 months ago and I wanted to buy the entire store!! As a disclaimer, I love to dress my dogs, go out of my way to find boutiques and unique clothing for my dogs all over the country. I still get compliments and stopped all the time when people see the outfits I got at Barking Babies! When I go to other dog stores, they always wanna know where I got it so they can carry the same items!! I've been taking my little Shih Tzu to Barking Babies for daycare and grooming for the past 5 years. BB is the only place I trust to take care of my dog. The owner Nancy and the girls working there are very caring and attentive. I have tried a handful of groomers in downtown including one mobile grooming service and Barking Babies definitely gives my dog the best cut overall. I doubt my dog will ever truly enjoy getting a bath, she's become quite anxious when I've dropped her off at other places but she seems to trust the girls at BB. Love the shop but I would never use the groomer again. I overheard Kristy the groomer in the back, insulting this poor dog and yelling at it. It was shocking. I am very untrusting of anyone you can sound soo sweet than go back and be soo nasty. My girl shakes everytime we stand near the grooming gate and now I understand why. We found Barking Babies when we were looking for puppy classes for the new addition to our family. Luckily Barking Babies is just around the corner from our apartment and we signed our puppy up for classes with Saffrina. We all look forward to going to class and it also serves as a little window shopping opportunity for me too. They always have such cute merch and I always want to buy everything in the store. Went in to Barking Babies to get my dog a harness. They were initially friendly and helpful and assisted me in finding what I needed for my 10 pound dog. After using the harness twice over a 3 day period I realized there was a substantial tear where one of the straps met the for the chest; There is no way my dog could have torn or ripped it. I took it into the store with the receipt and explained to them what I thought had happened. The woman behind the counter stuttered her way through an explanation, basically accusing me of lying and refused to accept a return or exchange. Instead of creating a loyal customer who frequently dog sits and is getting a dog soon, they embarrassed me in front of other customers and didn't work with me to resolve my issue. I love Barking Babies too. Even they have expensive clothes but they are so unique and nice. You can't find it anywhere else in Vancouver. I love dressing my poodle up with cute clothes. I buy most of my dog's clothes there and I buy my dog's food at Bark and Fitz in Coal Harbour cuz they do free food delivery. I heard Barking Babies do grooming there too but I have never tried it. I might try it once if the groomer at Bark and Fitz doesn't work there anymore. Barking Babies is definitely a nice store. read more

I was visiting Vancouver last week, when I walked by this store. I work with dogs and other animals, so naturally I decided to enter. Mind blown. Even in my Dog-crazy city I have yet to find a pet boutique with such a vast/crazy/funny assortment of clothes as Barking babies has. My dog Scout doesn't wear clothes because she does so much running, hiking and rolling in things. But the Pearl white peacoat dress I noticed on a rack was screaming Princess Tikis (my bosses dog) name. I knew I had to buy it- as long as I could be sure it would fit her. Tikis a 9/10lb Chihuahua mix with a deep chest. The staff were knowledgable about breed size, proportions and measurements. I was already getting a great exchange rate coming from the US, so I took a chance and bought it. And sure enough when I returned home and brought it to work, it fit Princess Tiki and she looked like Royalty in it. I'll be sure to stop on by and buy something when I'm in Vancouver again next summer. read more

When I was referred to this place is was under the assumption they groom ONE dog at TIME!!! As stated on their website, they have no kennels and dogs are NOT caged, that is why They deal with ONE dog at TIME. When I booked the appointment, I stated my dog was 16.5 recovered from breast cancer and was very uncomfortable around alot of dogs and noises. So, due to this reason I would be staying there for the grooming. I was clear when I repeatedly asked about ONE dog at a time , I was assured this was the case. When I got there, met the groomer she had no idea that I would be staying and there FOUR other dogs there!! One was in the tub!! I told the groomer, that this was not acceptable and I would be leaving. She encouraged me to stay and wanted me to give her a chance to accommodate. I agreed and told her that I would be staying and watching the entire process, she was presented to be content with the idea if letting them accommodate. I understand most people don't stay with their dogs, look in the back closet where the grooming was taking place or even verify what's going. Here's great concerns with what I saw: 1) A DIRECT FALSE TRUTH about ONE AT TIME! 2) ITS EXTREMELY SMALL and THERE WERE 4 Dogs running around and BARKING in a small space! 3) ONE 3 YEAR OLD , NOT NEUTERED Pomeranian was urinating all OVER the PLACE while TRYING to RAPE a 5 month old un Spayed BlACK TOY poodle and nobody even tried to control the situation !!!! I had hold this little puppy so she wouldn't constantly get mounted!! I said " she be getting her first heat", she could get pregnant, What would her owners think about that?" 4) THE PLACE was FILTHY!! The tools, the equipment, floor not swept of fur!!! 5) THE groomers dog was there, a small YORKIE, who had vomited earlier and still had vomit on her not cleaned!!! I was told she had a condition, supposed to receive stem cells, bit none were available!! 6) The DOG WASHER WAS ON HER CELL PHONE while trying to brush a dog with one had holding her unsupported while the un neutered Pomeranian was barking jumping trying to mount the poodle puppy!! 7) THE OWNER of the shop SHOWED UP and said she came in from home and would talk to me after- in which she acknowledged the miscommunication and was not really wanting me to continue in a store full of customers not really even making an effort to ease this big mistake!! JUST happy to charge me for the grooming which had to be re done!! I told her that this was lie and far from the truth of the misleading website about ONE at TIME!! Please do not take your dog there for grooming!!!! Bottom is NOT safe! NOT clean! NOT professional! I WILL be reporting this to HUMANE SOCIETY and regulatory Board that can go through the grooming closet for inspection and Health standards. read more

I think the people that come to shop here and own the dogs are as hip, cool and trendy as the dogs that own the dogs they're dressing. And the dogs are hip. Cozy bathrobes, lavender bath salts, fleecy bathrobes and cuddly nest beds are my favourite items to peruse for my future puppies. My friend's Pomeranian loves to walk by the store and peek inside to see what she will get next. Seriously. She knows and love the store. Posh doggy store at its best. read more

I completely agree that the service is very inconsistent - it really depends on how they feel. It's like the luck of the straw. The only downside is there really isn't any other store in the city that offers cute items, however if you're looking for treats for your dogs i highly do not recommend this place. There are some chicken treats out there are sourced from China and they have all been recalled, however they seem really oblivious to this at the barking babies... read more

I took my little Maltese poodle in for her first grooming (she is only 5 months old). Although she had a few mats in her hair the session only took an hour. Upon picking her up she did look good. However, Jellie was subsequently scared of getting brushed and being groomed. Even more concerning, it wasn't until Jellie visited another groomer that it was discovered they did not clip the Dewclaw. Upon realization the claw was so badly curved it was in danger of puncturing her little paw. Needless to say I will not be putting my puppy through this kind of treatment here again. read more

You told me one scab fell off. Well the others are not scabs but cuts. Then you overcharged me by $15. He never bites. He has never bitten children and other dogs. Fuck you. You hurt him and would not stop and he bit you to make you stop. If you make up stories about my dog biting small children I will take you to court. I might take you to court for cruelty to animals. Woof has groomed him for years with no complaints. I spoke to other dog owners and they said barking babies grooming is the worst. So I am not only the one to say so. The word has spread without me doing anything. Other dog owners already say they wouldn't take their dogs there even if it is the last grooming place on earth. I want my $15 back. I have 2 years to sue you and I have 100 witnesses on Mango's character and only you. I wish he had bitten you more for torturing him. He has been groomed every 2 months all his 13 years and you are the only person to provoke a bite. What does that say about you and your grooming ability. Another outfit close by says he's the best behaved dog ever during grooming. I will get them on the witness stand against you. If you malign me or my dog again I will take steps that you would not enjoy. So back off bitch. Your story changes every time. What a liar! read more

A cute pet store that's really catered for small dogs. The only things that were suitable for my big mutts were some chew toys from West Paw. Things are a bit overpriced, but that's to be expected since the store is in Yaletown. Me & my dog Joker absolutely love Barking Babies! They only carry highest quality stuff & their price are very reasonable too! Customer service is top notch! They are truly dog lovers. Very helpful in recommending styles & sizes of the outfits and extremely patience. They treat Joker like a princess and VIP all the time although we do not buy a lot there! Loves all the doggie pawties that they organize few times a year. Joker, my yorkie never plays with any dogs at the park but for some reasons, she seems enjoying very much in those pawties, so I always try my best to make time to bring her there. i love this store !!! i bought my 14 pound pooch a 100 dollar hoodie and even though that is crazy, i love it ... the hoodie has been washed again and again and my dog wears it to play and rolls around on the ground and this hoodie has stood the test of time ... not to mention the excellent fit and the smiles from strangers on the street ... the staff has always been very helpful and friendly ... i love going to this store :o) read more

I got my puppy's, Bella, haircut here today followed by a full day of daycare. I am more than impressed with their staff and haircut. Bella came home so tired from the playtime and looking cute as a button. The groomer phoned me shortly after my boyfriend dropped her off in the morning to double check how I wanted her cut. I will definitely bring my barking baby back again! A big thanks to the store, they are great. My only suggestion is putting a pink bow instead of blue in her new do :) I highly recommend Barking Babies for any dog parents out there. You rock!! read more

I will never shop in this store again. I have already spent hundreds of dollars in this store outfitting my adorable white chihuahua. I was dressed a bit down tonight on my way in but was ready to spend some cash on a Halloween costume for my little guy. There was one sales girl and one customer in the store. I looked around for awhile and was never acknowledged. I was not looking to be helped right away but a hello would have been nice. I even made eye contact with the sales girl twice... Today, Barking Babies was a godsend. I got my dog back from boarding from another establishment and I was in tears. She was so matted... when the girls saw her they used the the word felted. I spent 2 hours last night trying to get the knots out. And my dog is an angel but she hit a wall and she was done. I felt defeated and I felt sad for her thinking about the pain she was in. So this morning I called the store and told them about the situation and even though, their main groomer was at a dog competition, they insisted I come in anyways and that they would do their best without giving her a cut. When I saw her, I was truly amazed at what they were able to do. They got all the mats out. I am so over the moon happy. I have never been disappointed with their work or their staff but, today they accomplished the impossible. Thank you thank you thank you ladies you are the best in the biz!!! Just had to write a review about the great service, clothes and staff at Barking Babies. I drop into the store quite often...not just to purchase the great clothes and treats they have there but have also attended a couple of the the pawrties they've had. Sometimes I simply drop in to just ask questions. I am particularly impressed with one staff member in particular - sadly I don't know her name but she has black hair and a great smile...she is always pleasant, pays attention to both dogs and their parents and extremely knowledgeable about the products they sell. I would recommend this store to any of my friends and have encouraged them to drop in when they have the chance. read more

I Love this Doggie Boutique! It's a one stop shopping for my little ones. My Yorkie Paris has been getting groomed here for the last 8 yrs, and now my little Biewer RubyBlue is too. Kristy the groomer is the best in the city at what she does. You can't find a better or more talented groomer in BC. Although her specialty is the Yorkie cuts/grooming, she does all small/medium dogs of all breeds. And at very reasonable, comparable price mark. All three of my dogs love Kristy, even my cranky Chihuahua. I honestly can not say enough about the great service I get, from the grooming to the shopping. You want anything for your dog, Nancy the owner or Danica who works there can and will do everything to accommodate you. That is if it isn't already available in the store. They sell nothing but the best of everything, but in a price range that suits everyone's pocket. Very snobby staff, they seem to think that by virtue of being located in Yaletown (big deal), they have some sort of automatic license to treat the customer as if THEY are lucky and privelaged to be in their store, when the opposite is actually the case. They gouge on prices like nothing I've ever seen, anywhere! Using the standard comment, "Well, it's from Japan"...doesn't wash with me. I HATE when a business "USES" nothing more than their location, to justify ripping people off. How about a simple rhinestone dog collar for $100.00+, when I've seen the same ones for $30.00.
