This is one of the best programs I have ever experienced, and my dog Rocko can't wait to get through the door when we get there. We have been coming here for months and he loves it! What makes it so great is the staff! They are caring and kind and you can watch them on live webcams interacting with the dogs throughout the day. They are constantly petting, hugging and holding these fur babies, and always supervised by 1-3 people. They also blow bubbles for the dogs and they really have fun. You will always be greeted by happy shiny smiling people. They have water features to play in, cots to rest on, shaded areas, sunny areas to sunbathe, and even play structures to climb on. They are very accommodating in terms of drop off and pick up times and that to me is a blessing since I travel so much for my job. I can drop him off first thing in the morning and when I return I can pick him up later in the afternoon without being charged an extra day! They will administer medications for you as well. You can also get your dog groomed before you pick them up as an added bonus. You book online, and can pay online too, so convenient and easy. Highly recommend them read more

Let me start off by saying I fully understand that not every dog gets along with every other dog and that can make kennels a difficult place to house every dog. That being said, if I could give this place zero stars, I would. I have a very large, sweet, gentle dog. I took my dog for the test play day and I got a strong impression that they assumed he would be aggressive but by the end of the day, I was told he did very well and won the hearts of all the workers and other dogs. I took him back for his weekend stay when I was out of town just this past weekend. 4 nights total. To be honest, I read all the good reviews of this place and felt totally comfortable leaving him here. He has stayed at many other kennels and never had and bad reports or problems. About an hour before I picked him up, I checked the live streaming footage and saw an employee shove my dog down to the ground and place his knee on my dogs chest so he couldn't get up. I called over and asked for the reason behind the aggression and then I rushed from the airport to pick him up. When I arrived, they told me they had reviewed the footage and spoken to the handler that had been violent. Apparently, said handler is training to be a "master dog trainer" and this is a certified technique to establish dominance and show the dog you are the alpha by laying him down and rubbing his stomach. Not what really happened. When I asked what provoked this action, I was told my dog had been biting other dogs (even though he had a ball in his mouth at the time). Seems like had my dog been biting, it would have warranted a phone call to me to come pick him up early. I asked to see footage of him "biting" and the subject was quickly changed to his hips and I was not shown the replay footage. My dog is 4 years old and never shown a single sign of hip dysplasia. After 4 days at this place, he limps around and doesn't have the strength in his back legs to jump up, even onto the couch. I've never seen him in pain like this and on top of that, his paws are raw in many places. I totally regret my decision to take my dog here and won't be going back ever. Not only was my dog mistreated, the only thing that could tell me was that he just "wasn't a good fit". If you can't handle large dogs, please just let people know and don't hire aggressive, abusive employees. read more

I saw on their live feed camera my dog get thrown to the ground by Lukas their "master trainer" his knee was in my dogs rib cage. I was told my GSD was being aggressive. In the video it's very clear he is not. In any case, there was no attempt to contact myself or my girlfriend about his "aggressive behavior" or his limp. He was picked up from bark more with a limp and raw spots on his pads. I've had my GSD since he was 8 weeks old and he has never once attacked or harmed another dog or animal. Im certainly not going to believe it's starting now after I witnessed him on live feed get thrown to the ground for being playful. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place for the sake of your pets livelihood. read more

This place needs to be shut down! The owner verbally abused/cursed me out for being 5 minutes late due to work and unexpected road closures ;despite me calling to communicate the situation. This place always seemed "nice" and all of the reviews sounded great! However, after being verbally abused by the owner, it is with no surprise to see other reviews (way down) of aggressive behavior from him/staff; as it is very clear he is unfortunately mentally unstable. It's very apparent the owner does not care about the dogs and even more worrisome, has uncontrolled aggression issues. We are so grateful for the amazing experience we had boarding our Great Pyrenees, Ghost at Barkmore Park for 2 nights while we passed through town. We were a bit anxious about leaving him as he can be a bit of a particular guy but it was so clear that the owners and staff know dog behavior and body language well. Their kind demeanors and willingness to talk about my concerns really put me at ease and they were prompt with email replies. I also really appreciated the live camera feeds of the play areas. It was obvious that the staff was very attentive and I loved watching them love on and pet and play with my pup. This place appears to be filled with very sincere, kind hearted, dog people and we will definitely recommend them to anyone in the Asheville area. read more

I have two larger dogs, Koda and Kenai. We have been coming to Barkmore Park for 2 1/2 years now and sadly are about to be moving across the state. However we have absolutely loved our experience here. Both of my dogs, particularly my GSD mix are very high energy and he can sometimes get overstimulated. The staff here were very caring and always watched out for not only my dogs, but others as well. They constantly worked to make sure that my dogs were comfortable and after only a few visits they were able to be more relaxed and calmer while they played and during down town. I've even seen a difference when they are at home in terms of being able to calm themselves down. The staff take the time to get to know the dogs individually and truly care of them. Mine even got to the point where they recognized some of the staff's voices on the phone when I would call to make a reservation. We will miss them greatly but be sure to check them out! As someone who always worries a lot when I leave them behind to travel; Barkmore Park made it so that I could travel without worry. read more

Barkmore Park is awesome! The pups are well cared for and you can watch them for most of the day on live web cams. You almost always see humans with the dogs which gives me comfort knowing that someone is always watching them. The pups have spacious private sleeping spaces and can hang out with their furry friends during the day. Barkmore Park is also VERY reasonably priced. Love this place. read more

Beautiful facility and extremely nice, knowledgeable people. These guys really love dogs, and volunteer to socialize shelter dogs on the side, which is not an easy task. When we brought our recently rescued pit bull for boarding, they called me the first morning to give me a personal update on him and loads of advice. Great place for your fur baby! We were visiting North Carolina on vacation, so instead of boarding Maggie Moo at home in Louisiana, we brought her here! It was excellent! This weekend was my first time boarding at Barkmore Park and I was so impressed! They have a sizable play area for the dogs, a very convenient check in/out process, and comparable pricing! When I informed them that my dog is reactive, their first concern was to reassure me that they would take care of him and only leash when necessary, rather than whether or not they could/would board him. They were accepting and accommodating, and anyone with a dog with behavioral issues knows how much relief I felt because of this. I had picked up Hope and Roxie from their first time ever having to be boarded somewhere. I wasn't sure how they would be without me, but they filled my ear full about how much fun they had! They greeted me with smiles on their faces, and it eased me to be able to watch them, while I was away, through the live feed. We have been boarding our 1 1/2 year old german shepherd for over 1 year. They take such an interest in your dog, can tell you all about their day, and make suggestions as to food and toys, etc. Our dog is very happy there and loves everyone who takes care of her. This place is a new hidden gem of Asheville! I have taken our two handsome Boston Terriers to many a kennel/doggie daycare in the area, so I know a good one! This place is so clean from the minute you walk in! From the lobby, I thought I could stay here myself! The webcams are SO great when you are traveling. We saw our dogs being played with for hours on end. They came home tired, but happy! The place isn't over crowded like others, giving the dogs ample room to play and less anxiety with less barking.
