We are so grateful for the amazing experience we had boarding our Great Pyrenees, Ghost at Barkmore Park for 2 nights while we passed through town. We were a bit anxious about leaving him as he can be a bit of a particular guy but it was so clear that the owners and staff know dog behavior and body language well. Their kind demeanors and willingness to talk about my concerns really put me at ease and they were prompt with email replies. I also really appreciated the live camera feeds of the play areas. It was obvious that the staff was very attentive and I loved watching them love on and pet and play with my pup. This place appears to be filled with very sincere, kind hearted, dog people and we will definitely recommend them to anyone in the Asheville area.

I have two larger dogs, Koda and Kenai. We have been coming to Barkmore Park for 2 1/2 years now and sadly are about to be moving across the state. However we have absolutely loved our experience here. Both of my dogs, particularly my GSD mix are very high energy and he can sometimes get overstimulated. The staff here were very caring and always watched out for not only my dogs, but others as well. They constantly worked to make sure that my dogs were comfortable and after only a few visits they were able to be more relaxed and calmer while they played and during down town. I've even seen a difference when they are at home in terms of being able to calm themselves down. The staff take the time to get to know the dogs individually and truly care of them. Mine even got to the point where they recognized some of the staff's voices on the phone when I would call to make a reservation. We will miss them greatly but be sure to check them out! As someone who always worries a lot when I leave them behind to travel; Barkmore Park made it so that I could travel without worry.

From our first meeting, I could tell that James was passionate and thoughtful about animals. However, with each scheduled visit, it is obvious that our dogs (two French bulldogs) look forward to seeing him and City (his dog) more and more. As if it wasn't great enough that he was giving our little guys so much joy (and us a chance to relax), James is an amazing photographer! He routinely shares pics and updates that make the whole process all the more enjoyable (check out the South.City Instagram for proof). I highly recommend James and Companion Companion. Thanks James!!

I needed someone to do a couple walks and a trial overnight before I left town to go to my little sisters graduation. We signed a contract, and scheduled in all of the above. James came to my home for two of the visits over a two week period. When I asked James how it went he had only good things to report. Then the third week came around for his last walk before our trial overnight and I texted James the day before to confirm his walk. James replied: "I am declining to do future services. After our last two appointments I'm not comfortable with this job anymore. Thank you." I was shocked and when I asked him why he never responded. I racked my brain for anything that would have caused him to end our service and I couldn't think of anything. Regardless of the reason I found his lack of explanation or response to my text to be extremely sketchy and unprofessional. It left me in a position of having to scramble to find a new sitter last minute, who would be available to go through the same multiple visits with my dog before I leave town. When I called my trainer who recommended him, she was shocked and very apologetic for his unprofessional behavior. She had no idea he would do something like that and told me she would no longer recommend him to people.

They chose to settle in Asheville, NC; our loss is Asheville's dog loving community's gain. Both Dana and Nicole bring their special gifts- their love of dogs, and their skills in understanding and caring for dogs- to their dog walking groups, agility training and boarding. They are excellent "pack" leaders, and work to integrate the different dog personalities during their dog walks. They have been especially good for our shy dog Farrah. With time Farrah became an eager participant in her walks with them. She even learned to play ball. Dana and Nicole's treatment of Farrah has been especially comforting to us since in the past Farrah had suffered a life threatening, 3 dog attack, when a previous caretaker became careless. We can't give them enough stars. Linda and Carlos Russo Castellanos

My father passed away suddenly and on top of experiencing crushing grief, we suddenly had to make last minute plans for someone to care for our dogs who could not fly out of town with us. We were completely stressed and began calling pet sitters. Dana and Nicole were able to watch our pups last minute, over the weekend. They were so kind and came in advance to meet my fiancé and the animals. They walked our dogs twice daily and sent us the sweetest photos during each visit via text. Some happy photos of our dogs were so welcome during this very sad time. Our dogs adored them and you can tell that Dana and Nicole truly love what they do. They will be our regular sitters in the future and we feel so grateful to have found them.

We rarely go out of town (I'd say we maybe board our dogs 2-3 times per year), but it is ALWAYS an amazing experience for us when we do. Brittany is especially AMAZING! Any time I would call to book a reservation, before I even said who my dogs were Brittany would recognize my voice and say, "Is this Sasha and Bo?!" with such enthusiasm and excitement. It wouldn't matter if it had been over six months since our last stay...she ALWAYS remembered who we were and gives us the VIP treatment! Something tells me that she treats all of the clients that way, and it is just beyond impressive! We had a 14 year old terrier mix that isn't particularly social and had a tough time around new spaces and people. Brittany ALWAYS made her feel absolutely adored and pampered. For her to go out of her way and love on our girl in an extra special way (when she wasn't the warmest of dogs) just melted my heart so much and made us beyond grateful every time. Sasha has since passed away, but it was always so reassuring to know she was in such great hands when we did travel out of town. Even when we don't travel, we frequently use Camp Bow Wow for just a day visit spa day where they get a bath and nails trimmed too. Everyone there is absolutely wonderful and they have the cleanest, most organized, and most well run facility I've ever seen. I am always so impressed and amazed with the five star service. The fact that they have cameras you can view in their app while you're away is just the cherry on top! What a special treat to be able to check in on our pups while we're away. Everything is just top notch there! What's even more amazing is how much this business does for the rescue community. We foster for three different local rescues, and we found out about Rusty's Legacy through Camp Bow Wow (who we now foster and volunteer for). Camp Bow Wow ALWAYS steps up so much to foster, train, and love dogs in dire need of a place to stay until they get adopted. I am just beyond thankful for everything they do! We now have a new puppy and I'm excited for her to love Camp Bow Wow as much as our other dogs have always done. Thank you for everything Camp Bow Wow!

Their treatment of their employees is absolutely disgraceful. If they treat their employees like…read morethey do, I can only imagine how the management treats the animals. The employees aren't trained adequately which is not a fault of their own but a reflection of said management. It includes group play all day which is highly stressful for dogs that may be more timid or overstimulated. This doesn't seem like a safe environment. Overall I do not recommend this "establishment" and would not recommend to any person who cares about people or pets. Find another place, you'll have better luck somewhere else.
