I have a dog with lots of medical issues and hates taking his meds, the staff there do amazing when administering his meds , they somehow are able to give it to him without any trouble at home he's so stubborn and won't take it! My dog stays there for long periods of time , they email me pictures and don't mind if I call to check on my boy to see how he's doing. After our trips we are so Eager to go get him we speed over there to get him and he's playing and having a good time. Not to mention he's also old . They have a special group just for the oldies where everyone just hangs out and it's the cutest thing ever ! When we get there every single time my dog sees me and tells me what a good time he's had ! He never loses weight always eats his food and they do something so cool they sign and time all feedings and meds so I know when he's had them and I sign the paper when I leave !they ask me if I would like a freshen up bath for my boy and he always comes out smelling great ! We've been using Urban Dog Retreat now for about 3 yrs, since relocating our summer home to AVL. I always feel like Roxy is in good hands, with dog loving people. They are completely organized, clean facilities and most importantly, extremely friendly. We were experiencing the travel day from heck last week. Constant flight delays etc.. We were concerned we were not going to make it to UDR by 7pm. I called them from ATL to let them know and they waited for me. I landed in AVL, didn't even get my bags, got in the car to rush to UDR and they called me to let me know not to worry! I ended up getting there 5 minutes late, but they were VERY understanding and pleasant! Love the new Arden location. It shaves so much time off my drop off/pick up time being on this side of 26. We will be building nearby in the Cliffs in a couple years, and will only 5 minutes away then :) read more

My dog has never boarded or been in a kennel/daycare prior to Vip pet resorts I started taking my dog there simply for daycare while I was at work , everyday my dog comes in for daycare he runs straight for that door! I've never seen a little dog run so fast! He has such a great time there and he plays all day! If he gets tired they give him a blanket and a cot which is so sweet! I get report cards of my baby smiling and playing and having a good time and it makes me feel so good! I come to retrieve my dog and he seems to be just as happy as when he came for the day! They always ask me if I would like a quick freshen up so my baby doesn't stink! They are always so caring always so happy! My wife had to go to Knoxville, TN for work and we needed a place to watch her dog. We looked around at a few different dog kennels in Arden and decided on the VIP Pet Resort. We are delighted that we made the choice, because during our trip we received updates in the form of cute report cards which really made us feel better about leaving our dog with them. We almost used another big kennel names Camp Bow Wow, but when we went to check in our dog the front desk staff was very rude. We made the change at the very last minute and the folks at vIp were very accommodating and helpful. This was our first stay but it won't be our last! Our dog came back smelling great and looking like he didn't want to leave because he was having so much fun playing with all the other dogs. read more

I love Urban Dog Retreat! Well more like my dog loves to go there for daycare. I take her at least once a week depending on my work schedule. She gets so excited when arriving. The staff is very caring and not just for my dog, but they worry about me if arriving to pick her up at closing time. I love getting pictures of my dog playing, along with the cameras that allow us to see what they are doing when we come to pick them up. I have not been to any other doggie daycare so can't compare, but I don't feel the need to change while living in the Asheville area. My husband and I live in Sapphire but we decided to spend the night in Asheville to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We have a little terrier that has never been boarded before so we were nervous to let her out of our sight. Luckily we were able to find Urban Dog Retreat and they put our nerves to rest. They were so helpful with communicating how they would care for my princess and even sent us a little report card showing her playing with other dogs her size. I've been boarding my babies, two retrievers, at Urban Dog Retreat in Arden since I moved here in 2015. I have never had a bad experience. My dogs always seem happy to get there and go with the staff to the boarding area without giving me that super sad look of abandonment. The staff are incredibly friendly and familiar with my dogs. The dogs get plenty of exercise and rest and never seem anxious or upset when they come home. Not only that, but the price is incredibly affordable and has enabled my family and me to travel much more than we did when we were in another city. I recently found this lovely place when a friend of mine, who uses Urban Dog Retreat recommended that I use them next time I was going out of town on vacation. My dog Daisy is a little anxious, but from the very start the staff took the time to let her get calm and reassure her with special treats. I could tell that the staff really took their job seriously and enjoy what they do because at the time of pickup they were able to give me some updates about who Daisy played with and she was so calm and didn't want to leave the staff. Ziggy, our 1.5 year old husky, has been going to Urban Dog Retreat every day, 5 days a week, since she was 8 weeks old. She absolutely LOVES it there, and so do we!! Ziggy is such a well adjusted dog because of the great care from the staff, and all of that puppy energy is expended during the day while we have to work. The staff is nothing short of amazing - it is evident how much each person truly cares about animals and their human parents. My boyfriend and I had a trip planned for Labor Day weekend to New York and his dog sitter canceled last minute on us. Luckily we found the caring and friendly folks at VIP Pet Resorts in Arden. We flew out of Asheville airport so their location was extremely convent being only one exit down from the 26 freeway. We were so happy during the time that we were gone that the staff sent us cute updates about our dogs that included them playing with other happy dogs. Best dog boarding in the Asheville area! I board my toy poodle with them several times per year and have always had a great experience. I feel the staff really cares about each dog and takes the time to give special attention to each dog. I appreciated the 'report card' I got on my last trip. Very personable front staff that will take care of your loved one and make sure he or she is safe and has fun on a daily basis. We were traveling from a Chicago to Hilton Head with our 2 Old English Sheepdogs after selling our house. We were stopping in Asheville to look at homes there and needed to find care for our dogs. The people at the VIP Pet Resort were very helpful in setting up a private space for our dogs who were not used to day care. Our dogs were happy and relaxed when we picked them up. Urban Dog Retreat has been a fantastic home away from home for my babies. The staff are friendly, and more importantly, they know my dogs as well as I do. In 2 years I have boarded my dogs at UDR about 20 times and never had a bad experience. I can't say enough positive things about UDR, and specifically the Arden location. Had a fantastic experience! Due to some inclement weather, we were unable to take our sweet golden retriever to the various Asheville breweries with us. We have used these good folks a number of times for our two Westies and continue to very pleased. Our dogs come home happy and tired because they had a good time and were well cared for.
