This is a new-to-me Barnes & Noble. It's out next to the McKinley mall. It's large and has a lot of people in it which is lovely to see. The cooking section is very large and open and easy to navigate. There's a huge Starbucks inside which also has plenty of people sitting in the tables and enjoying the environment. I'm very glad I made a stop here. 3 stars for this large chain. I default chains to 3 stars as they must be A-OK to expand as they have. read more

I was looking for a place to do more of my work other than the library and the perfect place to get work done is in the Barnes & Noble café. Complete with a warm, rustic ambience, comfortable furniture and friendly staff. It's the perfect place to read a book. Get work done and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. I love their selection, wide array of books, movies, CDs, audiobooks, games, toys, and more . If you become a Barnes & Noble member, you'll save an extra 10% on everything in the store. The membership does cost $25 a year but it's worth it in the savings. The store is so big especially since it's located inside the mall. Even if they don't have the item you want they can order the item for you and ship it right to the store. You can also order online get their online price and have it shipped to the store and pick it right up to save on shipping costs. There is something for everyone in the store, combined with the friendly environment and delicious treats in the café, Barnes & Noble, McKinley, is the ultimate hang out for any time of the day. read more

There's nothing noble about making horses live in cramped little Barnes. All the books here are 99.95. Oh wait, what I meant is, this is review #9995 for me. I like bookstores as much as the next person but the problem with this one is that it is extremely corporate as you probably know. It used to compete directly with Borders and at least they could keep each other's prices down, but Borders was the cool one, whereas BN was the stuffy and expensive one. These days it's just pretty much BN having a monopoly on major bookstores, and it's even worse cuz bookstores in general are starting to go out of business so you have the whole sympathy vote as they're trying desperately to stay relevant and you won't see many competitive deals in here anymore. This one in particular is massive and a nice place to hang out and read stuff, and it has a Starbucks inside it. What could be more corporate than that? I believe these stories often do. Nobody offered to help while I was browsing in here the most recent time, but that's fine. read more

Barnes & Noble is always way too crowded and busy. They have almost every book you can think of, but those books are at overly inflated prices. During my visit there, I had a gift card, so I didn't spend any money out of pocket. Years ago, I remember Barnes & Noble carrying JUST books. Now they have vinyl records, movies, board games, sports cards, and a bunch of other random stuff. This is all part of their plan to get you to spend more time and money there. This location also has a Starbucks cafe inside. You can use your Barnes & Noble gift cards there, so I guess that's a plus. As a librarian, I always feel compelled to reorganize their bookshelves, but my wife stops me from doing this. My usual plan is to either take pictures of books I'm interested in, and then find them at my local library. It doesn't make sense to shop here unless you have a gift card. Book stores are much more harder to find now but this place I always come out with a book. But you can find a book but also sit and relax browse. Go into the kids section and find a book, a toy or a fun puzzle to play with. You can join the Barnes and noble card club and get discounts on everything you buy including the Starbucks inside the McKinley mall store. Fun time and you can spend the whole day here and enjoy some reading. read more

I came here last night to use two gift cards that I had from more than a year ago. When I was near the help desk/manager area, a hand washing alarm went off. They have hand sanitizer everywhere but every half hour, the associates must go and wash their hands. If you don't want to come inside you can buy items online and choose to pick them up at the store and then a manager will run them out to your car. It seems convenient and great. They didn't have a book I needed for my mom, so I bought her something else. ( I bought her a Mitch Albom book. The local author uses a small local publishing company so her book is only sold at one or two spots.) I found some great books for myself and items for others. The store was very clean and brightly lit. They had many hand sanitizer spots set up throughout the store. I think they are also limiting the number of people allowed in the store. There wasn't a long wait to be cashed out. (Paper bags are five center each here but I declined.) The cashier was very kind, courteous and efficient. I'll definitely return in the future. (Yelp isn't posting the pictures of the other items I purchased. I bought A Raisin in the Sun. I'm looking forward to reading that.) read more

Even though this is a "chain" store, there are so few bookstores left these days that I still enjoy browsing through here every once in a while. They usually have some themed displays to get you interested in a new series or author. I love that they sell records (even though I don't have a record player) and some CDs. Sure, selection is limited but it's nice to walk by and notice someone you used to listen to came out with a new album. read more

I love books and I love reading and coming into a bookstore instantly makes me feel at peace with the world, and at the same time, like I am home. No matter what is going on in my life, going to a bookstore puts me a in good mood. I particularly like this location because it's actually in a mall, which you never see in this area anymore. My husband can schlepp around the made in America store all he wants l, and I can get lost in the shelves here. They have books obviously! But also candles, throw blankets, planners, diaries/journals, audio books, book marks, picture frames, assorted gifts, etc. and the books, did I mention all the books?! Excellent friendly respectful service no one calls security on you if you have no place go on your day off you decide walk around store and mall I appreciate that much if your regular they will know you by name for example selection is good for new books and manga , comics trade paper backs ( hard cover books ) yes they raise price on Barnes and noble memberships is it worth price I say yes it is new price on Barnes and noble membership if you shop there a lot for new books . Since Barnes and noble cafe does not show up on yelp and google for review there cafe is wonderful they have new seasonal cookies for every season I try there bacon Carmel cookie skeptical at first I'm someone who likes try new stuff it was good cookie there cookies are soft not thick but they are on little thin side but still soft if I have some change left over I will buy cookie and get another free or another half off for special offers they have there have there and best part cafe there you buy something there you get points on your Barnes and member card that's also nice little bonus they don't have smoothies there but some drinks they offer are good there food is defiantly better than Tim hortons where Tim hortons always messes up your order and long time in line before you order not like that at Barnes and noble and cafe but some customers will vary have you wait in line that's customers not cashiers. read more

Ran out for lunch today, and stopped by Barnes & Nobles. It wasn't super-hectic-busy since it's in the middle of the week. If you've been to Barnes & Nobles, you'd know it's a pretty big store (in size), so I took the easy way out since I was on a time crunch and went directly to customer service for help. When I got to the customer service desk, there was a man at the counter and another person in front of me (so I was the third person in line). After standing there for about 2 minutes, the man at the counter leans in to get more comfortable, and I knew he wasn't anywhere near done. Just as I'm wishing the man at the counter would hurry up, the lady behind the counter picks up her intercom and asks for more assistance at the customer service counter. Within a few seconds, we had 3 additional Barnes & Nobles' employees show up to help us. Wow! I was very impressed since there were only 2 of us in line but 3 showed up to help us. Unfortunately, Barnes & Nobles did not have the book I was looking for - but I can say that they do have very good customer service. I would definitely recommend shopping there, if you like to get help from real people. read more

This is our place to go for books, CDs, DVDs, Blue rays and Godiva chocolate. The selections available have always been plentiful and only rarely have we been disappointed. BUT if it's not on stock they immediately check the web and order it for me I like browsing the video department because I'm a fan of older TV shows, old movies and English TV. You never know what's there and the search is worth the time. I have never encountered an unfriendly employee. Everyone does their best to help me get what I'm looking for and often make suggestions for me to try. I have tried the coffee and treats a few times and have been unimpressed. They are adequate but really not worth the money. Amazon may be an alternative but nothing beats browsing and the opportunity to page through the book before purchase read more

It might seem like a store this large has a thorough selection of books to choose from, in the few times I've gone to this store, they did not carry what I was looking for. If you're looking for a good cup of coffee and somewhere to browse for awhile, then Barnes and Noble is fine. But if you're looking for a particular book, cd, dvd, etc, then not only is there a chance you won't find it but I suggest supporting a local bookstore or trying Amazing. I scanned all of the books that I was considering with my phone and surprise! they were all cheaper on Amazon (and had free shipping). I'm always looking for a deal, and the only reason I would pay more than the amazon price for a book or movie is if it's from a local store. I'm not willing to pay the inflated prices that this chain charges! read more

Amazing vibes, I love how you can get Starbucks samples for free while looking for books. The smells of paper and coffee combine to create a most delightful aroma. Also, the employees are extremely helpful and the baristas are so kind. Today, one of the young ladies showed me some book recommendations, taking time to help a girl out. I entered the store and understand all stores have different set ups. Since I have been to these stores I have memorized where the manga is usually located. I found it and was a bit disappointed by the quality and amount of manga books there. The Colossal Titan edition's bottom left hand corner was clearly bent and I hate to see this so. I also noticed keeping in stock the manga seems hard with the 2-4 books spaces between series. I was happy to find my volumes. I was looking for a specific volume and asked a nice guy at the customer service and he brought me it. I checked out and got home and the manga was in bad shape with a deformed shape to the book and dents in the cover. This is why I like to shop at used book stores. read more

This review is for the BN clerk I saw a few moments ago at the McKinley Mall in Buffalo, NY, I reiterate: That book (a big book of a pictorial history of the US) that was $20 marked down to $5, you know from our previous conversations I am a teacher, and that I will be using that book with culturally disadvantaged children who normally would never get a chance to see such a book YET YOU REFUSED TO ALLOW THE BOOK TO REST 10 MINS. BEHIND THE COUNTER WHILE I WALKED WITH MY FAMILY BECAUSE THAT IS "AGAINST POLICY"? Now it is Barnes & Nobles' policy for employees to work to prevent children from seeing this reading matter?
