The book trade in process here is fairly easy and they are able to appraise books quite fast, though the values aren't super high -- though on the flipside they pretty much take any books for trade in. The shelves and displays are well maintained, and you can find lots of interesting and unusual books here. This is also a good place to look for some lightly used board games and refresh yourself on new editions or different variations of these games that might be as obvious when shopping elsewhere. The checkout process is fairly quick and friendly as well and there's plenty of parking right outside the store. Just be careful of the traffic pattern in the shopping center, particularly around the Asian grocery store as people tend to drive a bit fast within the lot.

That being said, online stores and digital/eBooks are becoming more popular and far more affordable, which makes in-store experiences even more important! It's rare that I visit textbook store for the sake of saving money on textbooks but I needed one textbook only printed and sold through the university. After coming to terms of my "luxuriously priced" purchase here's how it panned out! The staff is friendly but not in-sync with the services they offer. My first visit for the semester was for a textbook that was out of stock during that visit. I was informed that I can pay for the textbook that day, provide my contact information and receive a call once the textbook arrived. After proceeding with that process and waiting for 3 weeks I had to explain to the professor the circumstances I was under and make accommodations for using the book. LUCKILY!! another student who had just experienced the same situation and overheard the conversation with the professor and informed me to stop back in to the Bookstore, as they had too after not receiving a call with the last batch of books that were offered. During my second visit, I was informed that the textbook I needed still wasn't available. So I decided to look where the book would be located and I found one copy left and approached the service desk again with the copy I found. The associate let me take the copy I found instead of waiting for my the copy that I still wasn't available. Again, great and friendly associates but inventory management and follow up are poor for the prices (textbook prices) we pay in these purchases.

The relatives were not sure what to get, were short on time, but sincerely wanted to give something that would be "just right." I was able to direct our friends there, and they were able to quickly pick out something fun without feeling like they totally pawned off the gift purchase on moi. Everyone is happy! I can't afford that ish... but that's where The Green Spot comes in. Budget Used Bookstore? I'm in! Sure, it's teensy tiny and hidden in the very far back corner of the Woodstock "mall", which isn't your traditional mall, more like just a big building (that would still pale in comparison to your average mall) with a vegetarian restaurant, a sewing store, a bathroom, a karate dojo and this bookstore. It's kind of like a more vertical strip mall, actually, but that doesn't really matter I guess. When I first walked by some of The Green Spot's outside book-stands and saw religious books, I almost turned around right then and there, but then I saw a nice little ole lady with a kitten purse who looked so inviting as she was working in the store, and who explained the sections to me and that's where I officially figured out that it wasn't at all a religious place, they just had a ton of those types of books priced to go, go, go... Inside, I saw one book for $3.95 and nothing else over $2, with most being in the $1 to .50 cent range. Not a bad deal. I found a huge 10+ lbs almanac of animals for $1 - ONE.SINGLE.DOLLAR. The selection wasn't half bad either. I mean, you likely wouldn't be able to find a specific title, but if you walked in just wanting to peruse, you'd have no problem finding *something* to pique your interest. They even have a nice selection of pretty classic DVDs (Big Lebowski, Eternal Sunshine and more) all priced at $1. I can't even rent DVDs at the library that cheap. Such a steal. The woman also mentioned that they often have large book sales where a literal truck load of used brooks is brought in, and they take over the entire lower level of the "mall" and everything is $2 or under.
