The lines are longer in both the cafe and the front than they used to be, but customer service hasn't really appeared to suffer much because of it. While still a corporate bookstore, this B & N is friendly and has a nice, laid-back vibe. Great magazine selection, cute and spacious Starbucks cafe inside, free WiFi, a nice Nook station, decent customer service, a great children's section, and tons of comfy seating throughout the store to sit and read a book/magazine or study. This particular B & N has an impressive selection of coffee table books devoted to cooking and decorating, as well as a nice mystery section. One thing I've noticed lately is the growing selection of vinyl records and the ever-shrinking choice in CD's. I like that and hope to see even more vinyl make its way onto the sales floor over time. Now, they're displaying new release and remastered re-release vinyl records in both the front and the back of the store. Wow. Vinyl is definitely making a comeback. One caveat- there's been a dearth of assistance at the Nook station unless you go out of your way to request it. That's kind of a bummer. The sales staff is always pleasant and helpful once they are on the scene, but getting someone to show up is the tricky part. read more

Good magazine titles like Café Racer, Scoot!, Skin and Ink, Shindig. I often pick up one of the many good magazines on WWII and stamp collecting. They have a nice café. Cannolis are now available. read more

This is a great Barnes & Noble. Being a chain store, there are certain expectations as far as quality, cleanliness, and friendliness go, and this store meets all of them! I'm constantly impressed by how friendly of an environment it is. If you live in, or frequent Flint, you know what I'm talking about. Sometimes I just come in to escape the greyness of the city. It's a nice place to relax in. There is a cafe in this location, and it's very nice and has adequate seating. The chocolate chunk cookies are teh yum! read more

Clean, nice cafe & great selection of books. Downfall: Pricing. I pointed out to the sales clerk 2 different books I was looking for that were $10 MORE in the store than they were on bn.com. She said they have to charge the higher price & I should be happy to have the book in my hand right now. So you charge less on your own website and wont give the customer the lesser price when they point it out? The whole thing made no sense! I am a huge advocate of libraries & bookstores and love to have real paper books instead of ereaders, but this policy makes me see why some may have a sour taste towards traditional reading. read more

This review is only concerning the Starbucks portion. I went there May fourth and May fifth because I was in the area for work relations. The guy who served us had never smiled at us at all. He was angry because I wanted my sandwich a certain way and he had a line. It was not Sidney by the way. We had him the day before and he was pleasant. The guy we had today was horrible. Next time I will go the extra mile to buy my coffee. read more

OK, so i am old and miss the days when there was a lot more variety in local bookstores and when bookstores carried a lot more variety. That being said, I am grateful to B&N for staying the course and satisfying my urges to walk the aisles, read dust jackets and grab a bunch of food mags I look at new recipes over a Cappuccino. Great selection of new books up front with an expanded selection and display near the back after the information desk including staff picks. Decent selection of multiple works from popular authors, and a well stocked variety of business, cooking, and most literary genres. Do yourself a favor and drop the $25 bucks on the annual membership; it more than pays for itself with the normal discount, regular additional discount coupons and free shipping for online orders! read more

My daughter ordered a book on 2/2/15. Used expedited shipping and its 10 days later ( or 8 business days) the book is still not here. I posted this to their facebook page only to have them ask me to private message them and they would look into it. All they did was tell me it would be delivered on 2/10/15. It is now the end of the day, mail already ran, on 2/12/15 and still no delivery. I will only buy books from Amazon from now on. Not barns and noble from Amazon, only a different company altogether. They refuse to answer me now and my daughter is still waiting for the book thats been sitting 30 miles away for over 2 days. No one is willing to do anything and we have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars on books through them. WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM EVER AGAIN. read more
