My family and team has bought bikes and services from this shop for over a decade. If you read a bad review here (and I read them all) it is because the Karen was not listening and is not an avid cyclist. You need not be an avid cyclist to shop here, though, as the staff makes up for it. Every member of the shop's staff that I have met throughout the years has the utmost care and concern for you and your bike, even if you bought your Huffy at Meijer's. Not many shops in Michigan can say that. I unfortunately worked for some. If by some astronomical chance you are not Karen and something goes wrong, the staff will happily work with you to make it right. Great service, work on all brands of bicycles. I miss the old store that was in Creek though.

THey tried to fix a flat tire. They could not fix it. They had my tire for 3 weeks. No more service from them.

I called this bike shop to get an estimate on some work I needed for my bike (new tires, repacking bearings). The sales person was very reluctant to give a price for this work. When I told this person the make of my bike, he told me that it was a piece of crap!!!!! Really???? Is that your idea of customer service??? I've had some minor dealings with this company and their rudeness in the past but this is the icing on the cake!!! NEVER AGAIN!! I stopped by last week in need of foot straps for a commercial stationary bike I have in my home gym. They had rotted and I thought I might be buying new peddles and straps. The young man that took care of me said he thought they had straps and he went into the back and came out with the exact straps i needed and i asked how much I owed him and he said nothing, they were free! What great customer service. I always use them for my bicycle needs, however he didn't know that. I will always use these guys, they are great! I'm thinking about a new eBike and they will be the ones I go to for a purchase! read more

This is the best bicycle shop to go to for awesome customer service and excellent prices. Matt was very helpful and knowledgeable for a 1st bike for our little girl and it is such a perfect bike she can also grow into... I was in the store back in the middle of June. Wanted a new Trek or Specialized bike for my teen granddaughter. I was also looking to get the Specialized Roll Elite - Low Entry. My later husband and I always bought from Assenmacher's since way back in the early 1980s, when it was the small bike shop in downtown Swartz Creek. My experience was not too many available bikes, and that was due to the pandemic. I understand that. Other people came in after me and my granddaughter. They were waited on first until Sophia went to the very young, and seemingly inexperienced young man asking when can we be waited on. I was basically told it would not even do any good to order the bike I wanted for myself as there are at least "500 back orders now waiting" and I prob would not get a bike until beyond March 2021. Really? Not what I was told from a shop in Oakland county. Your people don't really try to get my business. And I was going to be spending around $900 on her bike and about $600-$700. I still have not gotten a bike but will very soon! Oh, and when was waited on, why does your employees act as if this is butting into their day. They need an inservice on customer relations. From reading these reviews, it seems to happen to others as well. So I am 70yr old and people do not think I can still ride a bike!?? Only wish to wait on people buying racing bikes. So much for my loyalty of supporting local business. My granddaughter (age 16) said "Lets leave this place because it appears they don't really care for our business." read more

Just waited 30 minutes to be helped in buying a new bike. The workers did not even acknowledge that we were there - took a phone call, casually chatted with other patrons, and helped two different sets of people that arrived after us. Went to Cyclefit in Fenton and had a wonderful experience. read more

I was touring from Chicago to Toronto and had a serious mechanical issue - the steerer tube on our tandem was cracked... I thought the trip was over. We called the closest bike shop we could find and it happened to be Assenmacher's. We were (barely) able to ride the bike the 5 miles to the shop and Matt, the owner, is a frame builder who said "no problem, I can fix that..." - it was 5:30pm on a Tuesday. He brazed in a new supporting brace on the inside of the steerer, brazed the crack and we were back on the road by 11:30am the next morning. There are very few shops in the entire country that have the skills to do something like this, let alone on that time frame for a perfect stranger. We could not be more happy with Matt and his team! read more

Great people and great place...Matt and Steve took good care of us. Went in to get a bike for my young little girl and they didn't try selling us a smaller bike that might have been the proper fit, knowing that the next size up with training wheels will work just fine and give her room to grow. Word to the wise: Customer service, customer treatment, and attitude matter. My wife got the bicycle-snob treatment about 15 years ago on her first-ever visit to Assenmacher. We are now looking for new bicycles and will not even consider Assenmacher due to that one bad experience from years ago. Treat a customer poorly just one, and you lose out in thousands of dollars in revenue from that one customer. read more
