Love this Barnes and Nobles in Garland!! They have a pretty darn good selection of magazines, especially crafting, cooking, lifestyle, and women focused titles. The womens book section is also excellent, lots of fiction, self-care, and inspirational reads at reasonable prices. The Starbucks inside B&N is a huge plus. Grabbing a coffee while browsing magazines or purchasing a new book makes the experience relaxing and enjoyable. The store is clean, well organized, and has a comfortable atmosphere that encourages you to stay awhile. Definitely a go-to spot for book lovers and anyone who enjoys a good magazine and coffee break! They do have restrooms here. However, people are real pigs, so the restrooms aren't very clean. Ugh. Great bookstore, easy parking, friendly staff, they have a Starbucks type coffee shop inside the store with a fantastic menu. The real Starbucks could take and learn a lot from them, never a botched drink, their selection of pastries and food is far superior to the regular Starbucks, no music to get in the way I will go out of my way to have a coffee and relax there than any Starbucks. Bookstore and combination with the coffee shop is just outstanding. Can't go wrong with this place where you want a cup of coffee or a book, or a puzzle yeah the prices are a little high but then again where aren't they today. would have rated them five stores, but it's a big store and there is or was checkout space at both ends of the store but the last couple years they've really only ever staffed the one side so you have to walk all the way to one end of the store to pay and then walk all the way back out the other end if you parked in the main parking lot. read more

This is one of the better Barnes & Noble stores that I have visited. They have a large selection with great stock in just about every department. The cafe is large and despite being busy, they were super fast and incredibly friendly. I had selected a Studio Ghibli board game and when checking out, the cashier asked about my favorite Ghibli movies and made a book recommendation for me! I looked up the recommendation after and she was spot on for my interests. She truly was so kind. read more

Today was the first time I have stepped foot in a bookstore in many years. The store itself is very nice with a great selection of everything you would ever want to read. My problem was the men's room... it was disgusting. There was pee all over the floor, the toilets looked like they haven't been cleaned in days (or weeks). No paper towels. The sinks were gross. Very disappointing for store that I assume generally attracts the type of customer who is not OK with a gross bathroom. Disappointing. Back to buying my books from Amazon, I guess. read more

Comparable to other B&N stores in the area. This seems to have plenty of seating areas and a well stocked Starbucks inside. The staff was very friendly helping my teen with his vinyl selection and very informative as well. However, their prices were a bit on the high side. read more

A nicer and newer B&N, and much bigger and better than the two in Plano and, while 1-story, it has an elevated cafe seating, and is nicer than the ones in Addison and Preston Hollow. Additionally, it's located in a shopping area where you can take a nice stroll outdoors. I'm under the impression that of the places I've visited, this may be the newest one - and I like the fact that there's entrances on both sides of the building - one going into the "Main Street" and the other going to the parking lot. No Starbucks next door, but they serve Starbucks coffee in their B&N cafe (which means they don't take the rewards card or whatever). Instead, you get a nicer bookstore that has tables and seating INSIDE the bookstore rather than having to leave the premises like the others. This makes it easier to peruse through books inside. If you want to use the Starbucks rewards, there's a Starbucks outpost very close by this place - behind the Dillards and on Lavon Dr (Hwy 78). Go there, and then come back here if the points matter so much. There's also plenty of places to eat/snack around here as well as shopping. This place is clean, organized, and has a nice selection but they are really lacking in customer service. No wonder Amazon is killing these kinds of places!! Bought $50 worth of books and then asked the cashier if he could look up one book for me real quick. He told me to wait until there was no one left in the line for him to help me (???) there were lots of people piling in, so i would have been waiting forever! so i went over to customer service instead, where there was no one to be found. So I'm wandering for about 10 minutes looking for employees, there were none around at all. Finally a woman showed up at the customer service counter, and she had quite a hostile attitude toward me for some reason! They didn't have the book i wanted, of course. Just had a horrible and unfriendly experience with Sarie from this store. Went to try to get a replacement book because i remember either reading online on the website or paperwork that I could do it in store. I was informed that the book was not in stock (which was totally fine, no big deal) and the young woman said that she could just do a refund and I could reorder the book online. Perfect! Easy and simple for me so I don't have to do anything extra. Unfortunately for me, a woman name Sarie came up and told me that I could not return the book and that I'd have to call customer service. So my fiancé and I went out to the car and I was looking over the paperwork I got with the book and saw that it said on the slip "for your convenience, items may be returned to the address on the packing slip or returned to your local Barnes & Noble store." So we went back in and showed that the paperwork said we could return it in store. Sarie said very rudely that it's under "store discretion" and that their policy had changed and tapped a paper by the register and sent us away. Not very customer service like. At least the customer service line was friendly and willing to help me get a replace my damaged book. read more

Great location. Clean and organized and so close to home. I was so glad to see this being built while they were building up the Firewheel mall. With the kids needing reading material since starting High School I needed convenience and a place to have what I am looking for. I have been here several times looking for a book the kids needed and every time they were friendly and helpful and they had what I needed in stock. Super friendly, clean and well stocked. I like this bookstore quite a bit, but it's getting so I cannot shop in here because of the music that they play. It's too loud for one thing, but it's usually so off the wall and not enjoyable. I came here today, 9/10/19 around 11:30am to get a drink from the Starbucks from inside, as walking throught the doors they see a young African american man not sort of dressed nice the manager automatically give me the "Stare" and walks off after I got my drink. I went to the music section to look at the Vnyl ile and as I'm minding my buisness the manager gives another "Stare" so at this point I'm uncomfortable with the fact ik I'm young and I don't look grown but I graduated school, & I'm just tryna have me time can they leave me alone, on top of that as I walk out I said y'all have a great day and the manager doesn't even encourage my small talk. I love B&N's selection of games and toys for kids! It's actually a superb place to get a gift for a child's birthday. They also have cute knick-knack stuff in the coffee shop area. The clearance table usually has a good selection of discounted items as well. My only complaint about B&N is that they don't have the overstuffed chairs that they used to so you can sit and read. Retail stores only have one chance to make a good impression. Unfortunately, this place failed. Looking for a rather new book, I went up to the cash register and asked if they had it...provided the ISBN # and all. The middle aged, grey bearded cashier says "well...you need to go to customer service". When I replied there was no one there at the customer service desk, he responded he would page someone...which he did. Unfortunately they never came (gave them 7 min). Walking out, he stopped me and I told him no one ever showed up. He then tells me "oh well I can look it up to see if we have it"...............WHAT??? DIDN'T I JUST ASK FOR THAT 10 MIN AGO???? Needless to say, Amazon.com had it in stock...this B&N did not. Thanks you to this sales guy for confirming that brick and mortar stores like this are on their way out because of the dying art of customer service. read more

Barnes and Noble is bliss. Sure you can order books online these days, but nothing beats coming into a relaxing store with the smell of Starbucks coffee in the air and getting to stroll through fiction to non-fiction. The employees are helpful too. You can pre-order or order books they don't have and you don't have to pay for them until they come in. It really makes it easy to get exactly the book you want. read more

Great stock and selection, especially if you're looking for new books or prefer the great new covers of new editions for fiction. Non-fiction is a bit lacking for me, but it's pretty up-to-date. Check out the poetry and drama section. And the bargain aisles are great too. I can find some great classics and great location for me. I love the feeling of walking around Firewheel and being able to walk in and take refuge among the books. But I mean this is Barnes and Noble so of course great selection of magazines. If you're looking for an assignment book for your high school class, I might recommend Half-price books. Especially if you want to go cheap. This is a smaller B&N location, meaning their selection might be limited compared to others. Besides that, nothing too special about it except its close proximity to my house. The store and cafe staff are always cheery, although I've never had to use them very much except for checking out or buying coffee. The addition of free wi-fi is great and I like to study here on the weekdays but they only have 2 power outlets, so if you need to plug in your laptop it can be challenging during peak hours. I avoid weekends because the cafe area is usually packed with high schoolers. read more

The manager here, Bo Tonquest, is flat-out amazing. And we love this B&N store; it always has great customer service and selection. The manage, Bo, decided today was the day that the delivery guy would be treated like a dog. Bo treated him horribly. Told him to "get over here" like a dog. Bo continued to disrespect the man just trying to do his job. This is a large store and there were only 2 people working with a third doing coffee. You couldn't find anyone. Bo should be fired! Bo told the man "I am your customer" I stepped in and said "I am your customer and I do not appreciate how you are treating him." This Starbucks/Barnes and Noble Cafe whatever they'd like to call it is extremely unorganized and has poor service. I've been to much better locations. Times i have been there, It takes far too long for a drink. I have had my drink given to me wrong then instead of making it one of their priorities to get me the drink I had asked for, they sat it and went to other customers drinks and I waited again for 8 more minutes. The drinks are made poorly, not as good quality as they are meant to be. Their foods that they need to reheat taste not very fresh either honestly. But the main issue is the Service. Whoever is in charge of the Cafe ran in it they need to re train the staff because the service and quality is terrible and their work is very unorganized. I will never go here again for food or drink, I would much rather find a different starbucks even if it means going another several miles. OR i would go in the Cinnabon and Tollhouse they have in Firewheel Mall, Because this place is NOT worth my money nor my time. read more

ahhhh!!!! me and my faithful sidekick ang popped in yesterday for something that we were sure we needed but at that point we didnt know what it was... upon walking in, as usual i have to stop and just take a big deep happy to be in the bookstore breath! its like all cares and concerns for all thing trivial just melt away and the happiness to be surrounded by books takes over. plus, where else could you be surrounded by reading material and smell coffee at the same time? perfection!! :) we flit from section to section and on numerous occasions we are greeted and asked by their helpful and always friendly staff if we are looking for anything particular, my response is always a happy "no thanks!" we are just glad to be in your store and wish we had your job... a thought pops into my head so we stroll over to the childrens books...why you ask? cause i know at this point in my life i have figured out why i am here, ang needs her own copy of "the littlest angel!" it is apparent from another display that the christmas reading material has started to show its precious little face on displays throughout the store so the should have the book. i stop at the desk o' information centrally located and ask a lady all in black if they have the book...uh, lemme check. hrm, okay...ahh she says, we do have the book. (go figure). we follow her to the childrens book section and she bends down to get a book off the shelf, and says ahhh... (i go, tiny woot for the book!!) she hands me a book about a damn penguin or something, perplexed i look at her questioningly and say, uh...not so much. (dumbfounded). hrm, she says maybe the book is in the back, would you like for me to check? *sigh* yes, i respond still sortof politely...she is asking random people if they have seen the book on her way to the back, no one knows. blech. lady in black reappears empty handed...*sigh* again...she says we do have the book, long pause waiting for me to respond i assume? uh, okay???? there are a lot of boxes back there and i dont know which one it would be in. i look at ang and she is just daring me to respond but i know she is quietly praying that i will not say anything cause i was thinking that she better get her poly clad butt back there and start box cutting. i dont say anything. "would you like for me to hold the book for you?" no, i say. are you sure??? i could put your name on one, nope i say its alright, i will be back. are you positive? gah, NO THANK YOU, geesh. okay if you are sure...at this point its time for ang to steer me away for poly sales girl. ugh, that is by far the greatest book that was ever written! we used to read it to the kids on christmas eve and i could never make it past page 3 without crying... we then settle in the bargain book section, i am looking through a book of the worlds greatest dog breeds, some of those ugly guys only a mother could love...ang is looking at a book of art written by a lady that had a pole sticking out of her and apparently it prohibited her from drawing really good art cause this stuff sucked...really i know we were there an hour at least and i find it nice that patrons and employees alike dont find it weird that we are sitting on the floor!!! trip is over, we write down some new authors to check out, at romas preread books (cause we are poor and have to read used, which have more character anyway) and ang texts me with the names and we are happily on our way. thank you B and N employees for always being overly nice and some of you somewhat helpful in our endless quest for reading material, you didnt disappoint...except for a smally with the poly girl clad in black. we will return, oh yes...we will return! read more

I went into this store to buy two books. At the sales counter the salesman tells me the price and I mention to him that the books are significantly cheaper on their store website and ask him to match the price. I even pull up the store website and show him. He says he cannot match the price and I have to order online. I am standing right there in the store. I ask him him if I can order right there on my phone and select pick up at store. He says yes but it may take a while for the order to be ready. So there I am phone in hand ready to order. And I ask him are you serious that I have to order on my phone, while I am in your store, in order to get the better price? He said yes sir. Absolutely terrible experience. I reserved a blue Tamagotchi so I could come pick it up at the store. Today is Tamagotchi's 20th anniversary so they brought back the Tamagotchi for limited time. I was never able to get a Tamagotchi as a kid so this was my chance. I live far away from this Barnes & Noble and I drove all the way to pick it up and they didn't have it. I have never been more disappointed with a store and I will never ever return. I wish you could rate zero stars. If you ever want to reserve an item for pick up here, don't expect much. read more

I have visited and purchased at this location for years, but recently was treated very rudely by what I assume is a new mgr (brunette, large glasses) straight out of college. I brought in a cup of starbucks coffee half gone and was approached by this mgr stating in the future I should 'support them'. Very rude and presumptuous. So careful if you bring any outside drinks into this establishment, because the beverage police is on duty! Other than this young lady, the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

My family and I love bookstores but have to drive quite a way to get to the Firewheel B&N so we usually spend a lot of time there once we get there. We went on Saturday and had been there for 2 hours already, had a stack of books to purchase but our daughter still wasn't quite finished looking. My son and I sat on the floor, out of the way, not bothering anyone , reading our books when the manager came by and told us we couldn't sit on the floor. There are 10 kids sitting on the floor in the kid section...did he tell them they couldn't sit on the floor? I like to be where I can see my kids and their benches are around the perimeter of the store where I cannot see my kids. I put my stack of books down, took a picture of them with my phone and ordered them from Amazon the next day. Amazon doesn't care if I sit on the floor. read more

I love this B&N! Great selection, helpful associates, wonderful manager, clean restrooms and plenty of places to sit & look at a magazine or book. It also has a really nice Starbucks, a good selection of cards, journals & calendars and a wonderful nook area with plenty of ways to try them out before you buy. But the ABSOLUTE best thing about this B&N location is the resident expert in all things regarding the nook, Christian! He is, hands down, one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. He is helpful, informative & patient. He knows EVERYTHING about the nook and IF he ever gets stumped, he'll figure out the answer to your question ASAP. After a few attempts to get an answer from Samsung technical support after I got the 1st generation nook years ago, with zero results, I just contact Christian and he ALWAYS has the answer or solution. I give this location 5 stars and Christian gets 10 stars! :) read more

I love that this location is close to my house, but being that it is a smaller store the selection is limited. The staff are very friendly though and will help out with ordering what you need or calling other stores to find it for you. They have recently changed up their floor plan, my only gripe is they seem to have an abnormally high selection of "Teen Reads" while cutting back on Mystery and Fiction. (This could be because this mall is inundated with teenagers every weekend.) If I have some serious book buying to do and time, I drive myself over to the Barnes and Noble by North Park Mall, large selection, two stories....I am in Heaven! read more
