This is my favorite book store in the whole country. I think what makes it so special to me is the staff and their curation of amazing books. I feel that each staff member I speak to has a PHD in literature and knows how to help me pick books that impact my life. I also was a member of their book club when I lived in Dallas. Selection was nothing that appealed to four of us so we'd say there are a ton of better bookstores in the area choose any of them over this one. Prices were too high and unrealistic so there isn't even decent value to be found. Advice: skip this one! read more

I walk into many bookstores, and the children's section is where I go to first. Interbang books has a truly wonderful selection of children's books. I'm inspired when I'm in their store. It's not a big store, but it's filled with energy. The right kind of energy. The kind that makes you want to look at everything they have to offer. It's the week before Halloween and they have the most adorable Halloween woven bags for trick or treaters - or to fill the bags up with wonderful Halloween books for decorating your shelves. And while I was there I bought a stuffed tigger - yes, from Winnie-the-Pooh. I am a sucker for this story series. When I could t find the book I walked into this shop for, the employee was more than willing to help me, and did so efficiently. We went here to find the pop up Inciardi x Richard Scarry mini print vending machine, and staff were so kind and helped us get tokens to use for the machine. While there we poked around and besides being wonderfully organized and having a great book selection, they also have such cute little trinkets-- book themed candles, fun little plushies, and other cute things that would make great gifts! read more

I walked into this bookstore for a specific book, and lucky me, I arrived in time for the children's storytime. Several families were there, and the kids were getting excited to hear the Halloween tale. That was a great beginning for my first experience in this bookstore. The energy was just magical. They even have a large tree at the entrance of the children's area that was so well decorated, it felt like a picture book that came to life. As I walked around the shop, I was taken by the great selections of books offered for all readers. And there were little things, like felt mouses holding pumpkins to embrace the Halloween season, or the ornaments made from old books. That was truly special to see. I found this shop through a local author selling their book here and am so thankful! I was able to order online and pick-up in store, and when I arrived I happily spent some time browsing their selection (especially the poetry)! Their shop is a thoughtfully curated collection and they have lots of little notes for suggestions, as well as knowledgeable staff that is happy to help! Came by at around 11:30 on a Saturday and it was lively!! Such a family friendly space, lots of excited kiddos and their caretakers with them sharing the joy of reading. Also lots of adults on their own meandering around. I've never been to such a bright and bustling bookstore, it was a wonderful atmosphere to be in! They had a wide selection of books from children's to young adult to historial to mystery to sci fi to current events. The staff were welcoming and willing to help, but also were not pushy and would leave you to your devices if you were just looking around :) They also sell journals, pens, unique bookmarks, and I think I saw cards. We got about 9 books for ~$200. Will have to come back! read more

The staff here are so nice and helpful. I had two people help me pick out a book. They were very knowledgeable about the books in house. They had a lot of literary fiction, but not a lot of fantasy though. I'm huge on fantasy so if I was looking for that this wouldn't be the best spot. What an amazing bookstore! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was going to love this place. Like any bookstore you see tables and shelves lined with books of course, but what adds extra pizazz and interest are the hand written recommendations throughout the store. There is something really special about handwritten notes with short reviews to spark interest. Even though the space is small, it is carefully curated to carry a nice selection of books, and what is not available can be ordered. As with most bookstores, Interabang also carries a great collection of small gifts like journals and globes. Also worthy of mention of the excellent tunes playing in the store. I heard a nice assortment of 80's Synth Pop, Indie and more to keep me groovin' as I made my way through the store. Think New Order, Arcade Fire, Lene Lovich and more. Excellent music being played here to enhance the atmosphere! The service here is wonderful. I appreciated the inquiries to check in on me every so often to make sure I was good. I also got to observe service for other patrons in the store and over the phone, and was really impressed with how dedicated the team was and how the absolute pleasant vide with the service and atmosphere created such a calm, happy place. The value here was on the nose. I think the prices were fare and totally normal. I suppose some people may be used to deeper discounts if they are buying from a large chain or online, but I'm happy to pay the still totally reasonable prices to support an independent bookstore like Interabang. It's a no-brainer. Overall, im really happy with all aspects of my experience here and will be back soon! read more

It is a rarity for me to visit a REAL bookstore anymore. I used to go to independent bookstores everywhere I traveled. Unfortunately, there are so few of them around now. There are a lot of things to love about this amazing bookstore. The selection of titles is curated and appeals to all types of interests. This is one of those places where you could spend a few hours, browsing and having amazing conversations with the friendly staff. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Higher prices at a locally owned, independent bookstore prices are no problem to me since the connections with actual human beings add so much value to the purchase. Human connection is rare in shopping experiences anymore. I actually checked a few titles on the Interabang website and compared with similar editions on Amazon. Amazon is definitely less expensive. However, I would rather spend a bit more to buy from a local bookstore. How many titles I have picked up at a local bookstore resulting in some sort of memory associated with the purchase of the book and perhaps conversation with the staff and fellow customers. You cannot get that when you purchase from Amazon. I enjoy the handwritten notes with recommendations for selected books throughout the store. They motivate you to explore different topics and perhaps discover a new must read historian! read more

Great little bookstore! Despite the small space this place is filled with carefully curated books and other cool stuff. Friendly staff who are eager to make recommendations upon request and talk books with readers. I've enjoyed their book club when I attended and have been really happy to attend a couple author events. I hope to try more events in the future. As an independent bookstore, their prices are often going to be higher than major chain stores and mega online retailers, but the special events, local character, and unique selection are sometimes worth paying a little extra for. My husband and I were visiting from out of town and we have a tradition of visiting local book stores when we travel. Lately it seems like we see the exact same collection of books at every bookstore we go to. Interabang was a breath of fresh air! It's been a long time since both my husband and I left a bookstore with a ton of new books on our TBR. The store was peaceful, but bright and uplifting, the staff was super friendly and helpful, and this may be weird, but I'm obsessed with their bathroom! Picture attached! Here for the AJ Wolfe book signing. Arrived one hour early to get a spot to sit. Was told by the "event coordinator" that only those who purchased the book from Interabang Books were able to sit in the chairs. She reiterated this at least half a dozen times before the event started in a very condescending tone, trying to guilt people into buying the book from them. Nowhere on any advertising did it say that the book would be available for purchase. Had I known it would be, I would have purchased the book here. Since this book is on backorder everywhere, I found it from another independent bookseller and paid for expedited shipping to make sure I had a copy on time. The "event coordinator" started the event 15 minutes before the advertised time, before a ton of people arrived. They missed out on the first portion of the event. While trying to merge the lines for the actual book signing, the "event coordinator" told the portion of line that I was in, towards the front of the line, to go to the back of the line. Had planned on buying a book or two after the signing event, but now I'm not going to. Will probably never go back. Getting two stars only for the fact that all of the other employees were friendly. read more

I really do love this store. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, the layout is intuitive and easy to navigate, the whole store is bright, airy, open, and welcoming. The store itself is small, but the selection is impressively engaging, and I've never walked in here without leaving with something that's somehow exactly what I wanted. I love the hand-written cards with staff recommendations sprinkled everywhere, and the comfy reading spots inviting me to curl up and audition a new read. I also particularly love the children's book section, and always make a visit whenever one of my friend's kids has a birthday coming up. The selection is unique and lovely and varied and I've always been able to find just the right thing. Just one note - I participate in a monthly book club, and in the past I've tried to order the monthly selections through their website, but if the selections aren't already in-store it frequently takes 2-3 weeks for orders to come in, which makes it a real nail-biter to finish reading before the next monthly discussion (since we never choose the books ahead of time). Not a complaint since I know it's a consequence of being a small business, but it's something to plan for. If you're ordering something specific from the website, be sure you're planning well in advance. read more

A fabulous bookstore this is. So cozy and bright it is inside with fantastic ventilation. Along with the soothing background music, one can easily stay for hours to browse, to attend a reading, or to shop. Beautifully displayed are the new releases at the front table. Intriguing are their staff's reviews on novels they're recommending. A mix of new, classic and cutting edge literature to be explored. Without a doubt, for my next read, which is within every few days, here I'll be. Loving that I can always depend on all the recommendations given from their incredibly astute and knowledgeable staff. I was on the hunt for a book for a couple of weeks. Online retailers were out of stock. None of the big box stores even carried the title. After realizing that this is an uncommon book, I called around. Interabang had a copy and offered to hold it for me! Opening the bright blue door and walking into the store for the first time was a pleasant experience. I was asked to wear a mask; staff were being extra cautious during this phase of the pandemic. I didn't have one with me, so they kindly offered to give me one. Books are clearly organized, and trinkets and shelf candy were also for sale (ray gun bookends, anyone?) The book selection was, frankly, fantastic. I am grateful that a shop like this exists in DFW. You'll be paying MSRP for every title, but you've gotta support local, right? There were so many titles I was able to add to my Goodreads "want to read" list that I had never encountered before. The staff were courteous and friendly while I was browsing, and were also open to help me with any questions. If you cannot find your title of choice, Interabang offers book ordering services to the store and even to your home. Cool. A couple of things that could be improved: 1. The handwritten staff book notes were cute, but often illegible. Perhaps allow the staff member with the best handwriting to produce the cards? I'm sure the written reviews are helpful! Just wish I could read them. 2. I am 6'5" tall. The lowest shelves are only a few inches off the floor. I understand not everyone is as tall as I am but I would love to be able to comfortably browse that 1/3 of the store inventory. I LOVE reading. I LOVE bookstores. I LOVE libraries. I basically love anything related to books. So when visiting my family in Dallas for the Christmas holiday, my dad and little sister said there was a bookstore they just HAD to take me to. So after doing a little grocery shopping at Central Market, we popped into Interabang. And they were right - I was impressed. It is one of the prettiest bookstores I've ever shopped in. Seriously, it looks like a bookstore that should be attached to an art museum. It's open and bright with shelves only on the exterior walls of the main room (there are more bookshelves in the back area), which gives the room an open feeling and (I imagine) leaves space for readings and author events. And they had a great selection of book! I decided to let myself pick out one book as "souvenir" and I had a hard time picking! Simply a beautiful store. read more

Interabang has a very well curated collection, it's as if every book in every section was chosen for a reason, without a bunch of filler. If you're looking for a recent publication, they probably have it. If you are searching a general topic without a particular book in mind, you'll likely find interesting options you didn't know existed. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful and it's obvious that they're passionate about reading. They also have "Staff Recommended" postcards with handwritten synopses which led me to an awesome book of poetry I'd have probably never looked at otherwise. This was my first visit to this bookstore and the look of it was great but that went south quickly! I went for the Tracy Wolff book signing. They couldn't accommodate for the fan base, they stopped her mid question to tell her only 2 more, then cut her off multiple times while signing and taking pictures to ask how much longer. The lady stood by her table with arms crossed and an annoyed face. She began rearranging the shelves and having people move, making it even worse. It was the most uncomfortable signing I've attended. The author was kicked out, due to time, I didn't get my book signed in the store but the author, happily, grabbed a table outside and finished signing books and taking pictures. I was so excited to visit this bookstore after hearing about it from my stylist. As someone who appreciates literature and the old-fashioned hard copy book, I was thrilled to learn of a new independent bookstore in Dallas. I love supporting local businesses as much as possible so this seemed like a perfect place for me. The interior is quite charming, and I absolutely loved the staff recommendation section. It's definitely a place one could wander in for hours, enjoying the diverse collection. Unfortunately, the customer service was very lacking on the day of my visit. I wandered through aisles for over 30 minutes and not one employee asked if they could assist me. I even made eye contact and smiled at one lady as she walked past me and she continued without saying a word. In a day and age when printed books and independent bookstores are almost a thing of the past, in extremely disappointed that no one offered to help. I decided to purchase two books and even had to ask someone to please check me out. She did so without asking how I was doing, if I found everything okay and don't offer a farewell salutation. I enjoyed their selection and would be willing to visit again to see if I had a different experience, but I won't be recommending to anyone else yet based off my first visit. read more
