Years ago, when this location first opened, it had an incredible cafe-esque atmosphere. The bookstore was a place to browse for hours, to work or study, and to find your next great read. The ambiance was calming and aesthetic. Today, this location has been transformed into a corporate shell of what it used to be. Instead of wandering aimlessly from aisle to aisle looking for a good book, customers find themselves turning in circles as the aisles and section are laid out in an impossible to navigate configuration. If you are lucky enough to find what you are looking for, the prices are outrageous. Where the cafe was once a haven for students and remote workers, now only stale pastries and lukewarm coffee stand. The only thing this B&N has going for it is the service. A review of the bathroom not the store itself. Men's bathroom is in disrepair. No handle for the door have to use the hole in door to open the door. Urinal is out of order, one sink is out of order. No toilet paper in either stall, low soap in the dispenser and saw about a half dozen drain flies. The bathroom didn't smell but it's condition was comparable to a gas station. Not what I would expect from a bookstore in a nice area of Murfreesboro. read more

I love B&N, I go here all the time for mangas. I have no problems ever except the attitude from the worker the other day. I never meant to place no annoyance on anybody, and I'm sorry that you have a bad day, but there's no reason to take your bad feelings out on customers. Besides that day, this store is amazing! I love barnes and noble! I always jet to the sale rack for cookbooks and flip through numerous books. It was fun because they had a huge selection. It's rare that I leave a bookstore not making a cookbook purchase. I came with some classmates and we sat at Starbucks studying for our small animal musculoskeletal exam. It is a nice, large, well organized bookstore. If you like paperback books this is a five star establishment. I happen to hate paperback and e-books with a passion that burns like the flames of hell. So only two stars because the selection of hardcover books is very, very limited. Frankly, the books I read can be bought used on Amazon for pennies on the dollar and most often they were never opened. Again, if you like paperback, B&N is hard to beat. read more

Really, it's a toy store for spoiled idiots with kids. The overall experience is kind of off-putting to say the least. If you're stuck in the world of; sitting alone nurturing your depressive personality, require the calm of an overpriced pretentious strip mall, and like toys, games, and other obsolete media, then this is your spot. I think the entire store is an official "Safe Space", because most of the staff is usually cowering in corners, fractured, not being helpful. Overall, a pseudo-intellectual crowd of employees with zero real world skills, so they work there. Great daycare for the Grandparent's too just drop them off until their diapers need changing. read more

I browsed around a poor selection of marketing books and on my way out I saw a book that I have been wanting but the retail price was outrageous! So I checked amazon and it was nearly half the price, so I asked the cashier if they price matched amazon - she said no. Every time i come to this location, I'm not disappointed. I always walk away with a great experience and was offered help my multiple staff members. Right now during COVID-19, masks are required for customers and employees, and social distancing is encouraged, as well as contact free payment, scanning, and bagging of your items. If there are staff members that seem huddled towards the center of the store, it's because that's where the computers are to look up where the book you're looking for is instead of guessing and trying to find it themselves. I also LOVE how there are employee recommendation cards around the store in each section. I've bought a couple of things that have been recommended and was NOT disappointed! There is a wide selection of genres, a Starbucks, and accessories for your books, laptops, or journaling needs. At the bottom of your receipt, there is a coupon for a free cookie at the Starbucks. So thoughtful! I've had nothing but good interactions with all of the employees, and the prices for the things thats I've purchased were the exact same as if I had bought from Amazon. Barnes & Noble SUPERSTORE to be exact! :). I was told while at this Barnes & Noble that it is a superstore, and it definitely is quiet a bit bigger than a regular Barnes & Noble. I have always loved Barnes and Noble. They really carry a great range of books, and gifts. Out of all of the "major" chain bookstores Barnes & Noble has the best atmosphere. If you have ever been in a Barnes & Noble you will know what to expect though this Barnes & Noble has the superstore atmosphere. It is about twice as large as the Barnes & Noble stores in Nashville at Opry Mills and Cool Springs. The best part about this Barnes & Noble other than size is that it is located in the newly opened shopping complex The Avenue. The range, and variety of stores in The Avenue is truly unique. You have such rares for Tennessee as Origins, Crabtree & Evelyn, and even an Ulta Also it is nice you don't have to drive all the way to Opry Mills, and fight the crowds or drive to Cool Springs if you live on this side of town. read more

I frequent this store often as it's the closest to my house, and they have a great selection of books and magazines. Normally, I'm there to check out magazines as I've moved on to the e-reader for books to save space in my house. However, I've noticed the staff to be helpful and friendly while at the same time they're not smothering and let the customers look around. I've also noticed a trend of having more children's items (like toys and educational items) vs. just books, probably due to the increased trend of e-readers vs. traditional books. I find this refreshing and innovative on their part as the book market is obviously changing rapidly. The only nitpicky negative I would have is the annual club membership sales pitch you get when checking out. I have no problem in being asked if I am a member (which I'm not) and asked if I want the membership with a real brief explanation of what its benefits and costs are. However, once I say I'm not interested, please don't continue going on another 3 minutes about how great it is. For $25 per year with an extra 10% savings, I'd need to spend $250 per year just to get my money back. Right now since I really only buy magazines, I'm not spending anywhere near that amount to recoup the membership cost. I'm sure it's a great program, but when the customer says they're not interested, leave it at that. Like I said, it's nitpicky, and I really love this store, but I didn't feel this review would be complete and just without mentioning that. read more

I later found out that manager was let go. I have been to this locations several times since and have always been treated nicely. I think the issue was specific to that manager and as I understand it there were several other reports against that manager besides mine. read more

I love this place! I'm a huge book lover, and it's nice to have a big bookseller nearby. Yes, I appreciate the little guys, but sometimes I need to have a bit more room. Usually, I order my books online from that website that rhymes with "shmamazon." However, every Monday at 11am, I come to B&N with my youngest child for story time with Ms. Pat. We love it! We show up a bit early. We grab a chocolate milk, iced Americano, Rice Krispies treat, and a cromuffin. Then we go sing songs, listen to stories, and color pictures. Afterwards, we play at the train table and Lego table. Before we leave, I buy myself a book (and maybe a couple books for my kids). All of the employees are very helpful and nice. The store is always well-kept. The bathrooms are always clean, too. I have a card for the B&N Kids Club, which is just a membership where you get a discount after spending so much money. And the kids each get a free cookie on their birthday. (They must be registered on the account.) One of these days, I'll get a B&N Membership so I can get discounts on books and cafe items! read more

Love the large selection but I would prefer a coupon on books not cookies. Seems that evertime I shop here that is the only thing you get. Not sure how that is a benefit for shopping there. It does seem to have a lot of staff on the floor unless you are looking for help. My family and I where in here for at least an hour an a half with only 1 person offering us any help. I honestly didn't realize how many employees where there until I noticed 7 or 8 of them squished into the center area I've had them go to if I am looking for a certain book there. I was astonished honestly, thinking where did all these people come from because there was still 2 people at the coffee shop and 2 people up at the front registers! I do feel they need more than a lanyard to identify employees because they don't readily make you away they work there. I just don't feel the customer service is up to par, I'd stop here as a last resort. The town I live in doesn't have a book store so we stop where we can when we can. read more

I'm prejudiced about this store, because this is the first place I met my wife. I have shopped at B & N as long as I can remember, and this store has always treated me well. I enjoy the café, the selection of books, games and other items is outstanding and the staff is always helpful. I got my first Nook here 6 years ago and I have taken advantage of the assistance of the staff for the few problems I have had with it. I get there at least once a month just to see what the new releases are. read more

I like Barnes and Noble. I like bookstores in general actually. But Barnes & Noble has some great deals on some great books. I went in and bought 4 books for around 24 bucks. And they were actually books I wanted. They have a great computer section and RPG section. Overall the place is grade A. My only complaint is the cost of there member cards. They are pricey!!! I thought to get one on my above 24 dollar purchase, and it was going to cost me more than the books, (making my total purchase around 56 dollars) so I declined. Book-A-Million usually will charge a small amount, like 5 dollars or something, but it pays for itself on the same purchase. So if I bought like 20 bucks in books they would say "If you get this card you'll pay 19 dollars for the books and card together", so I might only save dollar, but the card practically pays for itself right away. The Barnes & Nobel card was a bit to steep for me. However, that doesn't reflect on the store itself, which is great! read more
