When my wife goes shopping, I seem to make it to a bookstore. The closest one to us is Books-A-Million. They have a huge selection for all age groups and whatever interests you may have. They also have an incredible array of magazines and a nice coffee shop. One area of the store is set aside for closeout and sale editions at incredible prices. I would also like to add that the staff there is very helpful and friendly. It makes for an enjoyable place to spend an hour or two. Located in the Providence Shopping Center in Mt. Juliet, there is plenty of parking. read more

I'm not even joking when I tell you I've spent almost $300 in one trip at this store... I love reading, I just picked up Mitch Albom's new book Twice and I'm going to devour it this weekend, don't waste anymore time go buy one of his books, he's a phenomenal author. This place is loaded with great Christmas gifts and awesome stocking stuffers. I love a good book store, especially the smell! Is it the paper, the glue, the old people farting? Who knows, but I oddly love it. BAM is filled with tons of books; fantasy, biographies, self-help, etc. Beyond books they have tons of my fave, Funko Pops, t-shirts, vinyl records and a huge kids selection. The kids selection is a mix of young adult and toddler books. There's even a clearance section with books 50% off! I didn't buy anything this time around, but I did eye a few Batman graphic novels and a Stephen King memoir. Bonus, there's coffee shop inside the building! read more

Good service. They move the line along pretty quickly. Manager help my son with a return of a book that we previously purchased, but he did not want. Explain the return policy, but we're so kind to do an exchange so we can get the one who wants. That's going above and beyond! read more

When i first saw that there is a coffee shop in the bookstore however i have waited more then 15 minutes and no one asked me if i wanted anything so i gave up about getting a coffee and having a nice bookshop experience after i lost inspiration i just wanted to buy what i had in my mind already, but they were out of it and i couldn't learn when they'll restock, it was very unfortunate but i'll give another try for sure! read more

I'm a book junkie so any time I can shop for books or peruse bookstores I'm a happy camper. Though I'm never above ordering online and tend to prefer local and/or used physical bookstores, there's always something to be said for the big-box bookstores especially now when they're sometimes the only option in a given town. I was in a Barnes and Noble for the first time in years earlier this month and a B-A-M (this one, this location) later the same month. This B-A-M had great customer service. Every employee I spoke with was helpful and knowledgeable. There's a great coffee shop on site with fair prices. The magazine section is extensive, the book selection fairly solid. I looked for a few catalogue titles on my list that weren't present, though some others were. 90% of current titles I looked at or for were available, even niche genre (horror, crime). The discount book section here was far better than the one at B&N and I grabbed a book I've wanted for some time in hardcover for less than $10--the last time I saw it used at McKay's or online, used, it was $5 more than that price. Having saved that much, I was feeling like splurging so I picked up a recent trade softcover of a book that's been on my to-read list all year. Two employees explained the rewards program to me and if you shop at a BAM regularly it sounds well worth it. As shipping costs increase and secondhand books on sites like ebay often close the price gap to new, in hand, local options, I foresee many instance in which a BAM purchase is as efficient as an online order, and it's book in hand right then which can't be beat. I do wish they offered 10% across the board on all new titles for all customers and then 25% for EVERYTHING for rewards members. That would be cost effective and an incentive for customers, I believe. Paying full cover price on a book is tough to justify when there are so many options. Anyway, a great place to browse and grab a few books as well as a cup of coffee. read more

Books-A-Million in the Providence shopping center is a wonderful store. When I'm looking for a book, there is always someone to help. It's also a good place to start when your shopping for calendars, kids toys, puzzles and even daily planners. They also have a small coffee shop that is very good. Today I had a nice experience when I needed a pick me up. Hanna was working in the coffee shop and remembered my usual order. That surprised me because I hadn't been there for a few weeks. That's the kind of service that makes me want to return to a business. read more

Pretty typical big box bookstore in terms of variety of merchandise and prices. It has a small coffeeshop inside, which is nice. But what really sold me was the customer service. Their employees are really great at seeking out people to find out if you need help finding anything (and you might - it was hard for me to find a few sections in the store that seemed to be hiding in corners!). So, yes, it's just a Books-A-Million, but a bookstore is a bookstore is a bookstore, and we need more of those! Check it out! read more

I have not been in a books a million in a while and now I remember why exactly it is I prefer anywhere else but here. It seems it's turned from a book store to the latest hyped up toy or popularized product from a program from television or social media. It has gotten to the point that even my 13 yr old son was very much aware of it. Amongst all the merch for various items that have nothing to do with reading, you could condense the amount of books down to the space given for an unopened coffee bar. This is truly sad, because I remember the excitement of going to get new books. Be it discovering a new author or getting that next book in the serious you had been reading there was something about walking those Iles and looking at different genres of books but now I can get socks, backpacks and of course something that hangs from my bag or maybe a mug or shirt from a 90 s sitcom. Really wish bookstores sold books, I mean they kind of already are set up for it. Just on a side note, you may see several employees but there not there to help you and seems no one is responsible for cleaning the restrooms either. My advice if you can't find a nice locally owned bookstore or at best a Barnes & Noble just order online, hate to say it but would be much more pleasant. read more

You know what, I really hate this place now. I was there today, and I realize just how much I can't stand the place. What really gets under my skin, that I cannot get over no matter how many times I've come upon it, is that they lock the doors to the bathroom. I am a thirty year old man, and I don't need to be asking some twenty-one year old girl for permission to go to the bathroom. It just makes me so irritated that they do this; even Borders, which puts theft protection devices at the bathrooms, doesn't lock them altogether. The coffee isn't all that good, the selection is weird and no better than any other place, the layout feels practically random, and the prices are no better than B&N or Borders. The Books-A-Million in Mt. Juliet can take their books, their locked bathroom, and their entire stupid store, and just take it all away. Insult other poor schmucks, but I won't be insulted anymore. read more

So, I'm not a fan of chain bookstores, at all. I did however wander in her the other day. It seemed pretty typical with the Twilight display, etc. I sat down with a book a poetry I was pursuing when I overheard one of the sales girls, Sam, helping a middle-aged woman find a book for her daughter. The book was Twain's Huck Finn. I listened for 15 minutes as Sam tried to explain that Huck Finn was actually The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Then the woman couldn't understand why there were so many versions and why they each had different page counts. This poor girl explained that the book is in the public domain so anyone can publish it and furthermore they were all the same story just different font sizes. The woman wouldn't believe her. It was a riot. After that situation I approached the girl because I had pity for her. Apparently she gets customers like that a lot. Anyway - she was very helpful and didn't laugh when I asked for help finding a Star Trek book. Their shelves aren't really organized but she was able to help. Oh, and they have the largest Christian living section I've ever seen. read more

I wish I could remember the night managers name (young man 25 years old), because he was incredibly helpful in finding the right books to read.this young man even took the time to write out a list of ten other books that I would like to read if I enjoyed the first two (Paper Towns and The Place Where Things Come Back). After really enjoying those books I went to back to the book store and purchased 6 more of the books that he had suggested. I cannot wait to head back to this store next month when I am back in Nashville to see what books he suggests that I read next. In response to the old man griping about the bathroom and the other gentleman displeased about a young cashier looking to help him save money by buying a membership. I just have to let you know they no longer lock the bathroom and you should have bought the membership, so you could take the money you saved and paid your lawyer.. I actually like "Books A Million", minus their outrageous prices. The place is quiet and seems like an awesome environment to sit back and relax or study. My main complaint was that I had a misleading cashier. She made it appear that my membership was going to be free but then she added this huge fee! I didn't like being tricked like that and nonchalantly being told my total was going to be a lot more than I expected. Embarrassing but I just had to cancel the membership. She could have saved me a lot of time if she was just honest instead of reeling me in. read more

Tess was extremely pushy and rude to the customer in front of us. Then, when it was finally our turn she rolled her eyes behind his back muttering the whole time. I will not be back to this store ever. If you can't treat people with respect don't expect my business! I love supporting my town by shopping locally, but I'll stick with shopping on Amazon from now on rather deal the ugly attitude that I saw displayed. read more

Run! This place has a marketing scam. When you check out they try and give you 3 free magazines and they claim there is no charge. You don't sign anything, but a couple of months later guess what shows up on your charge or debit card. They give your account information to a marketing magazine business. Don't shop there. There are many complaints against this company all over because of this practice. read more
