We stopped by Barnes & Noble because my niece was in search of a particular novel. When we entered the store, it very neat and orderly; every section was meticulously organized. The employees were nice, particularly the young lady that helped my niece; she patiently looked up the title of the book even though my niece didn't have all the information. While inside Barnes & Noble, we also stopped by Starbucks to indulge in some sweet treats before making our way out the store. Even though our visit was fruitless (book-wise, not drink-wise), we still had a positive shopping experience.

Very nice book store with a wide selection of books, merch, toys and stationary stuff, etc. Clean, organized and quiet. Stopped by for some peaceful time checking on books and other stuff. Polite staff. The short and lovely visit made my day.

On a whim, because I know my kids, and both of them are like their mother and I, we went book shopping. It was a great experience! Was it the vast cavern of Powell's in Portland, Oregon? No. (The last time I was there, they had a Gutenberg Bible for sale.) but I found a couple of gems. Buy a book! Go to a library!

Clean and easy to navigate. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great selection of manga and graphic novels, along with other items.

The line can get long with only two cashiers. Quick! Before the test see It's short!!!

I love bookstores and I love stores who provide services like putting something on hold for you to pick up tomorrow. I had a choice. Order from Amazon, have it delivered to home so I can wrap before heading to a party OR buy local, wrap in my car (note: wrapping service has NOT been brought back since Covid) then head to the party. Same price either way. But local is a nice thing to do and It's on the way. So that was my plan. I was told on the phone last night to go to the register it would be there. Yeah. Right. I waited in line ten minutes get to the register and there's nothing. She says it didn't go into the system but they have it so I can go upstairs and get it. I ask if I need to wait in line once back down. No question. Yes. I have to wait in line. Folks, your employee told me over the phone she'd put the product under my name and hold for me. Even the POST OFFICE lets you jump the line if you've been in it already and something goes awry. Ok. I'm torn between just leaving or going up to find the gift. Really, not the cashiers fault. Grumble grumble, I'm going to be late. I go upstairs and start looking for the title. Not in any of the center tables, finally I see it. Up THERE. Maybe THAT'S WHY THE GAL THE NIGHT BEFORE DID NOT PUT BEHIND COUNTER? I look for a sales representative. Nada. I look for a ladder. Nope. Ah, a round stool with a step up. I can do this. Very carefully I reach up and get one. The last one then slips so far back no one but a basketball player would be able to see it, so I reach for it, while balancing with my two replaced hips no less, and pull it to the front of the shelf. Ok. Got the gift. Not happy I'll have to wait in line again, I peek over the balcony railing and there's only like two people in line! Great! Only a 20 minute stop where I had planned 10 max. Only need to wrap in the car and I'll not be too late. NOPE! Got down the escalator and low and behold there's another line about 7 minutes. But at least they've called up another cashier who I got, she was quick, good thing cuz if I got the other girl from before she would not have been happy with me. I am not happy with Barnes and Noble. Should have called Grass Roots.

I've been coming to this Barnes and Nobles for a while now and it's definitely a very well organized book store! It's always very easy to find the types of books you're looking for, and there's a section in this store for every type of book you could think of! The layout of the store was also very nice for moving around the store and not getting lost! It's also very well stocked without any empty spaces! This is a great place to go to get some books! It's very easy to come in and go out! Great selection for books that, maybe you didn't even know you wanted! Be sure to give it a try sometime!

I love to read. I love to read, motivational books and self-help books. They have inexpensive books. This two-story building was hard to find what I wanted at first I did ask for some assistance and they walked me to the exact opposite side of the building that I was in. I'm glad they were patient enough to help me and not just point in a directionbecause I would've been lost again.

Barnes & Noble in Reno is one of my all time favorite locations. This B & N is large with two stories which includes escalators. The Childrens area and YA are upstairs with loads of gifts/toys/books. A nice large Starbucks with tables & seating downstairs. This location is a great stop for that last minute gift idea, they always have lots of cool updated merchandise.

My genre of choice is Romance and I did not see a dedicated Romance section. Luckily, "House of Cotton" was on my TBR, as I had bought and gifted it a few years ago. So I snagged it and paid. The two workers behind the cash wrap were friendly and took the time to make me feel like I was the only patron in the store, despite what was probably an onslaught for the day. Rad Cat also has a curated selection of stationary and journals to choose from if that's something you're also in the market for. They have a section for cats you can interact with, however with the amount of people that came through on this day, the cats were also overwhelmed and weren't able to be interacted with. Which is totally fine and made total sense for the day.

(You can find their class schedule on the web and I would definitely say that is worth a look-see!) There is parking right in front of the store and it is just off S Virginia St, easy to find. The reason for the three stars has to do with inventory. This is not a large shop so one has to consider space available for merchandise. However, there was not much of a selection and the prices were fairly high. I realize that it is becoming harder to run a brick and mortar store front everyday, but I found the merchandise to be "stale" and dated. (ie: no latest tarot decks, books, etc.) I also felt like if I were to return in a month or so, it would look much as it did the day I visited, with the same merchandise in the same place. It may be that "Mystic Rose" concentrates more on the classes and readings and such, but that's not why I came. I miss the well-stocked metaphysical shops of the past and would love to see a sample tarot deck or book before I purchase it... I guess those days are gone.

I had time to peruse the selections thoroughly. I particularly enjoyed the large selection of crystals, and the availability of guides and books that explain how to use the crystals. I ended up buying a hunk of Angelite, and I'm happy that I did. Their selection of divination cards is small, but, again, a nice variety. In particular, I was pleased to see that they carry the Animal Wisdom Cards. I complimented the store owner on this, and we had a nice conversation about the uses and power of this particular deck. There are a few more items upstairs. There is a large second room that is used for classes. I only had a few short days in Nevada, which precluded taking any classes. If I were in Reno for a longer visit, I would definitely want to sample a class or a reading. Small, yes, but a solid, representative selection of various items. You'll never find everything in the world here, but you'll get a nice variety and/or introduction.

I mentioned this to the owner; he replied that he only wanted the serious book buyer to find him. I think he succeeds in this wish rather well. He also has the most messed up hours I've ever seen and he rarely keeps them, so it's nearly impossible to visit more then once. The shop isn't incredibly large, but every room is tastefully shelved and in proper order. I felt, though, that I was not allowed to simply shop. The owner insisted on reading excerpts from his favourites tomes. All I wanted to do was to shop for a few books, I did not want to entertain "open mic night"! While the selection was incredible, the owner was annoying and just wouldn't leave me alone. He only accepts cash and there is no wheelchair access. Both of which are not good for me.

The sign is no longer than, having been taken down. Manuel does indeed have the most inflexible hours that I have ever seen, the store is more by appointment than having any actual set hours and he is somewhat eccentric. His selection of Great Basin history/Native American history is absolutely excellent, as well as his selection of philosophy and literature. He does tend to go around quoting Jorge Luis Borges quite frequently, which makes it irritating to actually concentrate on browsing for books. He does not accept anything but cash or checks, which is also quite frustrating and will occasionally decide not to sell a certain book to someone after they have made a selection. Why are the books on display and priced if you do not want to sell them? Very irritating. If you venture to explore Five Dog Books, bring cash with you and have two or three hours to devote to talking to Manuel. Despite his limited hours, his knowledge of literature is incredibly diverse and voracious and his literary insights are fascinating. You will learn something when talking to him.
