Honestly not a bad campus store to get all of your textbooks and access codes for your classes!! I would recommend this place to first year students at UNR because of the easiness to buy the textbooks and good deals sometimes, especially with renting textbooks!! I wish that the emails and the times they said our order was ready to pickup if we order through the store was accurate and they email was more accurate and you're able to track your order online but it's not bad. Updating my review with two more stars because of Joanna's (manager for this location) willingness to correct the issue I had with this location. Still leaving one star off because of the website difficulties. She was very apologetic and clarified the issues they have been presented with. Though she understood fully that the way I was spoken to over the phone could have been handled better, she did assure me that this is not how the store conducts business, but due to short staff because of COVID, they have been recommended to keep phone calls short to accommodate other customers calling in. Will I be shopping for textbooks from here in the future? Sure, but only in person when I can conduct and ask questions right away versus waiting. Will I be buying textbooks from the website? Nope. I have been using Textbook Brokers UNR to purchase and rent my books for my classes at UNR. They are convenient and easy to locate. I usually go a week or two before the semester starts so that way I don't end up waiting in line with students who get there books last minute. The lines can get ridiculous and so long that it would be a waste of your time. I would recommend getting your books early and wait in line. So you can rent or buy your books here. I have rented my books for the last few semesters and this has saved me a lot of money. I would try renting instead of buying them. The books I have bought usually end up on my book shelf and just sitting there. Renting books is a better way to go. I have saved a bit of money doing that for the last few semesters. You can also sell your books to them or they do buy back your books but I think your better of renting. But it is your choice. My experience here has always been great and the staff are always friendly. But like I was saying I go here a week to 2 weeks before all the chaos happens. So experiences may differ haha. Also another thing to note parking is not good. They have a very small parking lot and they have some parking on the street but there isn't much. Also you can only park on the street for a very short period of time. This parking lot is full during the first week of the semester and gets hectic. So try to avoid all of that if possible. I always get my books here because of how much more affordable they are than anywhere else. The staff is also always so nice and understanding because most of them are about our age. Also, the "rent now, pay later" deal is my favorite thing ever and perfect for us college students who want to make sure we get the right books. They almost always have my books in stock and it's so easy to either show them my schedule, order online and pick up right by campus, or have it shipped free to me. Honestly, I have very mixed feeling with the store. I am currently a senior at UNR and have used Textbook Brokers for my entire academic career so I guess their convenience outweighs the negatives. However, I feel that these negatives can really be a pain to deal with. This is particularly true due to the timing of courses and deadlines once the semester begins. On more than one occasion, they listed a text as "required" on their website when it was in fact optional. The most frustrating moments happen when they give you an edition that your class section no longer uses... This has happened multiple times and once I did not realize the mistake until 3 weeks into the semester. They did not have the correct edition available at all so they should not list the text on their website at all in order to prevent this problem. Generally, I have been satisfied with the customer service at this location over the years I've attended UNR. They always promptly return phone calls and notify when your textbooks are ready to be picked up. However, I did have an issue one semester where I turned in my books and was not given a receipt. They for some reason did not enter my books as returned and the person I spoke with to deal with this issue came across as condescending. In terms of pricing, I absolutely agree with the other posters who recommend looking at your textbooks online before renting them here. Unfortunately, it's hard to wait for them to arrive if the semester already starts rolling. I recommend emailing your professors before the semester starts in order to obtain the required texts so you don't have to pay the outrageous prices at this store. However, my laziness and procrastination would normally win so I would have to walk down to Textbook brokers. I was on my way to UPS to get all my books, but I needed to go into TBB to get one single book for the semester as I had bought my books online through Chegg at a cheaper price. I told the employee - Mark - I only needed one book because of that reason and he was asking me where I got them and how much so I told him, and he asked me if this cheaper price sounded better and of course I said yes. Long story short - I ended up getting all my books today from TBB and they price matched every book I was getting from Chegg by at least a dollar or cheaper. Luckily I was still able to return all my books to Chegg. Thank you, Mark, for the great customer service and working with me when the line got long. I will definitely always be coming back since I know now that they will price match! This is way more conveinent as well since it is close to campus and you can pick up straight away, or order online and pay later. Oh! I did not even have to pay today. I get to pay in a couple days. Over all pretty solid place if you have to get a textbook for classes. The prices are usally the best and the staff are always super nice. The only problem I have had is with their new location is that they have a very limited supply of book in shop and if you want your books before class starts and not get too far behind ORDER EARLY!!! I picked up and returned books this year and each time i went it was great. There are floor markers for people to be 6 feet apart which is so awesome. Everyone was kind and hard working. I got my books and access codes quickly and efficiently. When i went to return an unneeded text book they offered free red bulls for everyone coming in and out which was a great surprise for the first week of school. I did buy all of my books and access codes from text book brokers and i would do it all again! read more

I am very disappointed with this company. After 2 years of purchasing my books from here I have noticed many problems with this establishment. One that I experience every time I give them my business is how long the books take to arrive. Most professors expect you to have your books 2nd day of class so as college students we cannot afford to wait 14 days for our course material. Another is that there never seems to be any helpful management working in the store. The employees are all college students who are very unprepared who seem to have just been thrown behind a computer with out any training or direction. Almost every time I come in the sales associate helping me is forced to bring up a "manager" who is just another college student with possibly one more semester of practice than the sales associate but is still very unhelpful. My latest and biggest discovery about this company however is that Ive begun to learn that Textbook Brokers exploits and takes advantage of young college students who are trying to become adults and function by themselves with out the guidance of their parents or guardians for the very first time. This semester I order 2 books online and selected the payment option where I would not have to pay until September 6th. I was then informed by my professor that I still had the online access for my class from my last semester which meant there was no need to purchase the book w/ access code from textbook brokers. When I went in to textbook brokers to pick up the book that I needed, the first thing the associate did was let me know that my Spanish book was not here yet. (Which if you purchase from TB expect to hear this) I let her know that this was not a problem because I actually do not need the book. She then tells me that the best they can do for me is store credit. Although my card has not been charged yet, and neither them or I have received the book, the best they can offer me is store credit. In 4 days my account is going to have $140 dollars less than it does now and I won't be able to touch that money because it'll be sitting in textbook brokers system. I am very disappointed by textbook brokers business practices and the way they take money from college students that scrape by paycheck to paycheck. I can tell you one thing and it is that after I spend my in store credit next semester, they will not be receiving my business again. read more

Despite ordering my books prior to the semester starting and getting an email confirmation that my books were ready for pickup, when I arrived to get them, they didn't have them. Not only were they not there for ready pickup, they weren't in stock. I was informed that I would have to wait an average of 7-10 business days for my textbooks. I should have been informed that the books were not in stock when I purchased them to begin with. I shouldn't have received an email stating that they were ready for pickup when they weren't. I'm really disappointed considering I have no way to read the material that I already have homework on and have no estimate of when my books will be in. I already purchased said books and had absolutely no warning that they wouldn't be available. While the employees are very kind and try their best to be helpful it is still disappointing. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. I've had two incidents with them and they have lost me as a customer because of their unprofessionalism and poor management. My first incident happened last semester when I needed a Spanish book. It was for an online class which meant I needed it within the start of the second week of school. I ordered it before school started and was told I would get it in 7-10 business days. I waited over 3 weeks and they still didn't have it. So instead of getting behind on me schoolwork I bought one from the wolf store and called Textbook Brokers to cancel my order. They told me "no refund" even though it was before the date that I could return it. I talked to the manager and he yelled at me over the phone and told me that he couldn't help me and it figure it out on my own. So uncalled for and unprofessional. Then second incident happened today. I work full time and go to school full time. I also live 30 minutes away from UNR. They called on Tuesday and told me that my books were ready and I had between the day they called me and Friday to pick up my books or I would have to purchase them again. I went in tonight at 5:00 and I asked for my book and the girl at the counter told me that they already sold it and took it off the self. ITS THURSDAY! YOU SAID I HAD UNTIL FRIDAY!!! As a business you are very unprofessional and stealing from students by giving their books away and lying to them about when the last day is to pick them up. I am so irritated that the owners and company think that what they do is okay. All they are doing is STEALING AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF COLLEGE STUDENTS. Wow! I called these guys on a Sunday, not expecting them to answer. Someone picked up and answered all of my questions. I drove down there to pick up a book I needed for a class, and it was literally cheaper than anywhere else! The book cost about $25 to rent for the summer. That's sooooooooo much cheaper than the Wolfshop and anywhere else online! The next day, I decided I didn't want the book anymore; I took it in, got a full refund, no questions asked! These guys are great! I will definitely do all of my Fall textbook shopping here, and I will definitely encourage all of my friends to do the same! read more

Terrible experience here. Tried to get the books for my HGPS class and 6 days later my order was still "processing" so I found them on Amazon and bought them there instead, planning to cancel my textbook brokers order the next morning. When I called and explained that I wanted to cancel my order as it was taking too long, I was told they could cancel it but I would not receive a refund. This confused me because I had cancelled the previous semester (for the same reason, I don't know why I decided to come back again) and gotten a full refund no problem. The girl on the phone told me apparently they have a new policy where they only give refunds up until the first Friday after school starts which is dumb because most people plan to get their books over the weekend and when most of these books don't come by the weekend, they are screwed out of getting their money back to find another place to get their books faster. She then told me they have up to 10 business days to get me my books according to their policy which is frustrating because most college students need their books well before then. Both the fact about the refund policy and the 10 days policy were not somewhere easily visible (I think she said they were in smaller print as I still don't know where it says this). Something of that importance when buying books should be placed in an easily visible spot so customers can see it. ESPECIALLY a new policy change. I was then told that I could wait the 10 days and if my books don't come before then I would receive a full refund or cancel now and get store credit. Store credit would be the same as no refund because I would have no use for it as I am never going to be coming back here. While books tend to be cheaper here I would definitely recommend spending a bit more money online or at the bookshop to ensure that you actually get them when you need them and not 3 weeks into the semester. read more

Textbook Brokers has unbeatable prices. Through 2 degrees I've gotten my books at Textbook Brokers and the process is so incredibly easy and relaxed (because school is hard enough, right?) Every time I go in the employees are so sweet and make sure I have what I need. If for some reason a book or supply is out of stock, I am kept in the loop which is very appreciated because a lot of times customers are left in the dark but not here. First thing first, employees here are friendly. BUT oh my God the price had me doubt my English.., I went in to rent a textbook( which i should have rented on Amazon, but class has already started and i didn't want to wait for a week to get the book), walked to the front desk, told him what book i need, he put the book on the table and i asked how much, he said " $140(or something like that.)" I was like "emm.... huh?( i thought i heard the wrong price)" he repeated" $140." i thought maybe he thinks i was buying the book instead of renting it, so i repeated myself slowly" i-am-here-to-rent-a-book, NOT-buying-a-book." Anyway $140 for rental....... I was shocked and then politely told him to put the book back because i don't want to pay for that. Then i walked out, and still shocked on my way home. $140 for rental??? Anyway after i got home i went on Amazon and rented that book for $20. However, most of the time they give me books that are optional and when I want to return them they always give me half of the money that I spent on them because it was already during the second week except this semester and it was only within the first week. Decent deals on textbooks, however, I rented a textbook from them and upon receiving the textbook it was "well loved" and in rough shape. Upon the semester ending, I wanted to buy the text, but swap it out for a textbook in better condition that that been returned. They initially said that yes, they could do that, but when I agreed to that, the manager said I could not swap out my textbook for one in better condition. Lesson learned: if you get a textbook in really rough shape, you can ask for one in better condition & they will try to accommodate your request. However, if you do it after the semester comes to an end: no go. read more

I have had two bad experiences with this store, however my recent visits have changed my opinion. The one problem I do have is the new location; it's very difficult to park around that block due to construction. However, that is no fault of their own as they were forced to vacate their previous location. I called prior to visiting to ask a question and the associate was very friendly and helpful. When I went to the store, the wait was not long, the price was fair, and they included free masks and Red Bull. I believe they also price match. I also returned a textbook, which was quick and easy. Textbook Brokers offers the best prices compared to the UNR Wolfstore. The staff is all students and they are very nice. They also offer free shipping which is super convenient. Their new location is very close to campus and has a good amount of street parking. The only negative experience I have had was when I was sent the wrong access code. They did not have extra, so I had to buy it for $20 more dollars at the Wolfstore. They offer a deferred payment as well. read more

This business was very kind in aiding me in purchasing my school textbooks. Had it not been for Textbook Brokers, I would have bought my books full price online not knowing any better. They had lower prices than I could find anywhere else, and they were adamant about selling me a multi-term access code for my calculus class, which I did need the next semester. Without this company I would've been lost and would have had to pay almost double the amount for my books. The staff was very kind and patient with my confused freshman self, and they have a great option for renting your books and not having to pay for them until after the semester starts, to make sure they're needed. Been a customer for the past 3-4 years with this company and overall had great experiences. Had a problem with charges on my credit card but after I spoke with the manager/owner of the store he realized the situation at hand and was very very helpful and resolved the issue with me. We came to a very reasonable agreement and he definitely helped me out. I appreciate their willingness to work with customers in extenuating circumstances. I picked up a loose-leaf book on September 4th and it was missing 30 pages from it. I did not notice this until the weekend after the 4th. So when I went to return the book, I was not given my money back and only issued a "store credit". I am not liable for this book missing pages and they refused to give me my money back. I also received a deceiving text message notification from them saying "Hello, this is Textbook Brokers. This text is in regards to your weborder. Please come and pick it up by Friday the 13th because our store is clearing our weborder shelf on Monday. You can not get a refund for your item if you come after Monday to pick it up." I was under the assumption that I could get a refund before Monday if I come in to return the book. NOPE. Never again will I go here. I've looked online and elsewhere and you can get the exact same book for cheaper on amazon. Textbook brokers is a scam. Please go anywhere else besides here for your textbook needs. read more
