$2 cheesecake for a limited time. My lucky day.

I love coming to Barnes & Noble to hang out, find something new to read and enjoy a coffee. I purchased an iPad years ago and never thought it would replace books for me, but eventually it did...I started reading books online. Being at Barnes & Noble reminds me of how satisfying it is to hold a book. On this visit we enjoyed cheesecake, coffee and our newly purchased books. This place is so busy! I noticed several tables that were tutors with kids, lots of couples enjoying coffee and desserts on a cold day and numerous browsers. So glad B&N is still around. I hope they continue to thrive.

Judge this bookstore by it cover! It's pretty grand! I'm so thrilled to see that while many bookstores have succumbed to the digital age, this store is thriving. I know it's a megastore, and I'm partial to small local book shops, but anything that gets people's noses in the written word is alright by me! They have a huge newsstand and magazine area which covers almost any subject! And my passion is tea, so check out Tea Time magazine! I love the game section to find the most unusual board games and puzzles! The stationery section has wonderful cards, journals and gifts. And the movie and music section is pretty good too! It's nice that the cafe is on site so that you can relax with a beverage and the latest best seller! The staff is friendly and helpful and the line goes quick! As a member, you get additional discounted pricing and the clearance selection is great! Sure, you can purchase all these books and things on line, but there's something special about wandering thru a bookstore, cracking a spine and having the scent of a new book envelope your nostrils! Keep up the good work Barnes & Noble! The end!

A great place to find books and movies. Often I have found a rare treasure and I always have fun. A lot of customers don't appreciate enough what they have in this store. The staff is clearly a family of friends that gets along great and does a great job.

This book cover stood out among the rest.

This location has great staff, especially in the children's section. My daughter loves coming here to read books, and browse a selection of toys that I usually talk her out of. There's a pet store near by that's good to visit with a child that loves animals. I also love coming here alone to browse through the graphic novels section. I have yet to come here for a book event, but I hope to do one someday.

Story time with Clifford the Big Red Dog !!! Epic :)

Never be afraid to ask for recommendations or help finding a specific book! If you are lucky, you will get to see the store cats lounging in the window by the banned book section. Downstairs is reserved for new books, with well curated and intentional sections. Upstairs features huge selection of used books from all genres. I snagged a copy of "Still Life" in almost new condition for $7.95.

I felt welcome and I am sure if I had wanted a book recommendation staff would have given me some. Other bookstores I visited in Virginia were not welcoming - . The shop is colorful- I didn't see the Shop cats but lots of Cat love items, fun stickers, a little bit of book bags- and I was tempted by the books- loved the corners upstairs to sit and hang out with a book or 2. Hard to choose just a couple! A must if you love books and are visiting RICHMOND-- and it sits on a street with coffee shops and more- so definitely worth an UBER if you are not staying in the neighborhood. . I dropped off a few "recommendations" since I also work in a bookshop and hope they will stock those in the future- I think they would do well.

I can't let Women's History Month come to an end without giving a shout out to a business that is…read moreowned by a black woman. I visited The Book Bar last month during a trip to Richmond. As an avid reader and lover of literature, book stores are kind of my jam. I visited on a Sunday afternoon. The store was pretty empty as there was only one other customer there at the time. The cool thing about The Book Bar is that they sell books and wine! They also have a bar where they do wine tastings. Although I didn't indulge in a wine tasting during my visit, the wine tastings are free! Although they sell books here, this isn't what you'd expect from the typical book store. I think of it as more of a community space where you can buy and/or read books, sip wine, and enjoy good conversation. They also host events here, including author visits. In addition to books and wine, they sell products from other local businesses. I picked up some banana pudding cookies from here made by The Sweetest Thing RVA. Finally, I can't end my review without acknowledging the excellent customer service I received while there. I was immediately greeted by the staff upon entering the store even though she was helping someone else. Then, the employee proceeded to assist me when she had the chance. She asked me what I was currently reading and if I had a favorite genre. I told her that I like historical fiction and she recommended a book for me. The cool thing is she recommended a book that had references to the city of Richmond, which made the book a nice personal souvenir to remind me of my visit. I can't wait to return! Please check them out!

When you walk in, you'll find a beautiful, welcoming space. I may have visited too soon after grand opening, as the owner Krystle just restocked her shelves. I went looking for a specific book, which she didn't have at the moment (but could order if I wanted!) and bought another that caught my eye. There is also a whole section for treats, self care items, and goodies. I plan to be back and get some work done with some wine from their selection.

They even have a decent number of CDs although they are priced higher than many Goodwills. Staff seems to be all volunteer. The staffer I encountered really knew his books like nothing else and he really understood vintage vs newer and how many different categories were integrated with each other. He also understood how some other volunteers might improperly categorize things and where to optimally try to look. He could tell that I had a sense of the different array of things in the store too. I was a bit surprised when he told me that he was here only part time. He was trying to see if he could give me a discount as he could tell I a bit surprised about the CD price. Even told me if I got one more CD or DVD that it would be $1 more. However, it was near closing and I just kept the purchase I had decided on. Two of the three CDs I got turned out not to be a win for me. Lol that is how it goes. He told me he worked here part time. He may've assumed I would come back here regularly. That person can feel free to reach out via private message if he was looking to build something more outside of the store. He was staying professional- and I was starting to get tired from a long trip and didn't want to hold him up from near closing time. He noticed my unique choose your own adventure shirt (with quality choices on the back) stuck out to him as did several other people in public.
