Soothing jazz was playing, the antique rugs made everything feel welcoming. There are several rooms full of used books in various categories. Everything was labeled and easy to navigate. They also have tables of used records and shelves of movies. This is the kind of analog, community-based place that so needs to exist in today's world. I hope it's always here in Syracuse.

The worst part is the check out registers. Now, there is usually only one register open (instead of two or three), and a line of 6 or more customers waiting in line to pay for their merchandise. Most of the employees have been there for a long time, and all but one exibit the "I hate my job" vibe. The one that doesn't (yet) is the one that is the newest member of their staff. I used to shop there at least once a week, or at least every other week. Now I go a month or two between visits, and absolutely dread it when I have to check out.

I got the Peep Mallow Latte (so good!). I love Peeps, so the moment I saw it on the board, I ditched my lemonade plans without hesitation. The store also had quirky bookmarks, a few signed copies of books (always a cool touch), and a discount section full of hidden gems.
