(Stationary, puzzles, gifts, candles, games, LEGO sets, toys, CDs, DVDs, so many things wow) The service is good, they're so helpful in finding any books. It's very clean and spacious. The kid section is HUGE and I think they make the lights brighter in that section. The very back right corner has books on clearance for $10, and other things like a friends backpack! I didn't need it so I didn't get it but what a great value !! I also loved the staff picks! It's a great way to finding new good books I found my all time new fav book, with the prequel in stock, and a Speck memory foam stress ball. Amazing finds! read more

I am a huge bookworm so from time to time; my favorite thing to do is peruse the aisles of a bookstore. This Barnes and Noble location is one of my favorites. I love how it's not always crowded, and the staff are friendly and willingly to help. The store is well organized with a good selection of books and magazines and easy to navigate. Parking is large and never an issue. There is a affiliated Starbucks cafe at this location. Nothing beats curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee. read more

Although the store is clean and well laid out, I was disappointed with the attitude of the cashier toward disabled customers. I use a mobility scooter, my husband is able bodied. We waited in the checkout line. A cash register kiosk with wheelchair height counter existed but did not have its own cashier. We were told to go to the next available kiosk. I asked to be checked out at the wheelchair height counter and the cashier pointedly ignored me and instead turned to provide my husband with checkout service. This is unacceptable. I have been going to their in-store coffee shop for years and it was amazing! I went in around 3pm on June 14, a Saturday and the coffee area is not that busy however, a small line. I get to the cashier and she just stares at me no may I help you or good afternoon, I say good afternoon and order my drink and she seemed like it was such a task to take my order and the person beside her was actually very pleasant. Although the coffee was amazing and quick I noticed a lot of adolescence behavior by four employees behind the counter. What I witnessed was more of a social gathering and playing; rocks, paper, scissors with no genuine hello or wanting to provide a friendly environment. Shocking to my surprise while I'm sitting down one of the four appeared to be a supervisor who was participating in the social club behind the counter. I'd expect for a $6 drink to have a genuine hello or being greeted at the register or picking up my drink with what appeared to be free time for the staff! Skip the coffee and bakery items and just shop in their amazing books and magazine selection! read more

First off I'm grateful to have it. Have the new Athlon Sports NFL season guide. Here I can digest draft info, free agent signings, and what the outlooks for the franchise's is. Am not surprised that the cost has gone up, but we are living in an era of inflation. Actually got a decent bargain on a history book about Incas. That should be excellent reading. This is a nice store. They used to have more, but writing seems to be on E devices. I'm guilty so it's not their fault. The employees here are very polite and helpful. It's also a fairly well organized store also. I sometimes enjoy reading a book here, with a nice cup of coffee. It's a comfortable spot, and for this I'm grateful. read more

Old school large Barnes & Noble store that I hadn't been to in awhile. Good selection of books and a large discount area since let's face it, for better or worse many books are cheaper online. They also have a large Starbucks cafe and a very well stocked magazine/newspaper area. The staff is really friendly here too without pestering you constantly. This is a really awesome B&N location! The discount section is large and was well stocked with kids books, which I find to be a rarity. The actual children's section was also very eclectic and large. Unique to this location is an elaborate toy section too. The only improvement that could be made here is to add additional seating options. Outside of the cafe there really is nowhere to sit and relax for a minute. Other than that one aside, this is a pretty great Barnes and Nobles! read more

Procrastination got me back at B&N, came in looking for Squigz and Bananagrams to purchase as gifts. After scouring the shelves for half an hour, I only found Bananagrams. Too tired to keep looking, I end up buying Tegu's Magnetic Wooden Blocks. Once at checkout my tab came up to 130+, didn't realize Tegu toys cost two arms and legs. But by renewing membership, I saved a bit getting a second set for my son. read more

The Borders Books in Kamp Washington/Fairfax is my favorite chain bookstore. But sometimes I will pop into this Barnes & Noble as it is a bit closer to me. I always have a hard time finding stuff in this store - things are weirdly organized - don't know if it is just this location, Barnes & Noble in general, or I am just whacked out - but I almost ALWAYS need help from someone at the Information Desk. The other thing I don't like is the breadth and depth of their book offerings in the Nature/Ecology section. It is significantly smaller than what the local Borders offers. I was looking for a book today on Virginia Wineries - I have a fairly old book on this subject - and I wanted to see what, if anything was available with newer information. B&N could not find anything - which should not be a surprise. As far as I can tell - the last time a book was published on Virginia wines - was in 2002. It seems like it's easier these days to keep up on Virginia wineries via the internet! I came across an unexpected delight - a book entitled: "Weird Virginia - Your Travel Guide to Virginia's Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets." I perused it and decided I needed to read this! I also picked up the current issues of Archeology, Renaissance, Backpacker, and Outside Magazines. There is also a Starbucks coffee shop inside of the B&N - I think this is the norm for all B&N's. read more

With very few libraries available I find my self looking for a place to surround my self with the smell of books, and just emerge my self in all the knowledge available in such a large book store. love the company, lately I find my Barnes and Noble has turned into a gift/toy shop. Great service, helpful workers, good book selection and always busy! This place is great to visit when you need to grab a book for your next long plane trip and they almost always carry the books I look for. The new section in the back of the store is nice and I feel adds more inventory space along with the "it" toys and gadgets of the season. I spent nearly an hour in the store this morning exploring a variety of books and gifts. I picked out several business books to purchase. As I continued exploring around the store, I noted everywhere I went, there was a store associate that was right behind me. I couldn't even enjoy myself anymore with her annoying behavior so I finally said, "You must like the same books I like because you keep following me where ever I go!" She disappeared quick fast and in a hurry. I am Black and I hate to say that this was racial, but there were other people in the store walking around with books and she wasn't following them. Why do store do this?!?! Y'all have cameras, if you see someone stealing, approach them about it. If you are simply PROFILING someone because you THINK they are going to steal. This store is shit. Wait for its going out of business sale. Staff is clueless on merchandise. Personally, the worst of all, the store is not compatible for disabled shoppers and employees do not care. The music is way too loud. Take your migraine pills before you enter. I have had 7 leg surgeries. The four chairs in the front corner are gone. No big deal because they are usually occupied with teens staring at their phones and not spending a nickel. Some chairs in dining area provided you can tolerate the purple haired store manager yelling at employees surrounding a table; the bitch needs hearing aids and conduct staff meetings in private area. Folding chairs that were in the DVD/CD area are gone. Compare prices to Amazon and bn.com...you'll be shopping at Amazon. read more

I am an Asian senior lady and have been the customer of Barnes and Noble at 12193 Fair Lakes, Promenade Dr., Fairfax VA 22033 more than 20 years. But after recent events happened in these two months at this Barnes and Noble store, I decided to post my complaints here. On Monday, 2/20/2022, I purchased a large hot tea from a young lady who is a U Penn student and sit at a table. After probably half a hour, my son called me from California. When we finished the talk, I found out my car was out of battery. I spent some time to get help to charge my car, drove around for sometime. When I got back the bookstore, my backpack, material, and stationary were put on the service table, and my drink was throwed away. The senior lady who was helping the college lady told me because they need table for other customers since I left more than an hour. I explained to her about my car problem then. But I think if she could use a better way to handle the customer's accident would be much more appreciated. Then I soon recalled an ignorance event that happened on me with her in last month. On a Thursday morning in January, I stood in front of the counter for several minutes waiting for her service when she was chatting with another customer. She turned around and entered another room after she finished the chatting and left me kept standing in front of the cashier counter. So I had to return my seat for about 5 minutes and returned back to the cashier counter after she came out from the room and finished sorting the bakery. I thought then it was just an incident, now I know it was not. read more

I come to this Barnes and Noble regularly. I'm very happy that there is one in this location - it's convenient for me and I love seeing so many people in this location on weekends. Courteousness 5/5: The staff are universally friendly and courteous. Cleanliness 4/5: The store is clean and the bathrooms usually acceptable. Sometimes the cafe tables could be wiped better. Food 3.5/5: The food items I've tried (probably 10 different items) have been serviceable but not impressive, and a little on the expensive side. Space 5/5: The store and cafe are both large and the cafe is right next to a huge wall of windows. On most days and times, there is seating in the cafe - the main exception being weekends when, to my delight, I find my local bookstore crowded! Be warned: the WiFi is slow and there are only two double AC plugs accessible in the entire cafe, which is large. Specific criticism: I was there one day when an employee vented to another because patrons regularly pull tables over to a third accessible AC outlet in a lightly-used corner by the entrance. Apparently not realizing how incredibly valuable (and scarce) these outlets are, she taped up a working AC plug in front of me with blue masking tape. In a lightly-used corner of the store, that seemed like an odd, almost spiteful decision. If you're reading this Barnes staff, please untape the cafe's third AC plug and let us sit there! read more

They have a good selection of books. This place is good for little kids/children to look at books and relax (like a library). The staff is nice at first.. but when you checkout, they try to force you to buy their membership. Very pushy. Not a big fan of people trying to get me to sign up for something when I simply want to purchase my book and leave. Now I remember why I prefer Amazon. read more

Their store looks nice enough, but because the company has much lower prices online and won't price match them in the store then the store experience is worthless. We went in to buy a couple of specific books and left empty handed because they don't price match. I'd rather just buy it from another vendor online and wait a day. I have always been a fan of Barnes & Nobles. Preferred it over Borders, always. Why? Because they have a Starbucks inside. However the Starbucks sitting in this location sucks. The Barnes & Noble in Manassas is closer to me, but this one is open until 11PM everyday except Sundays (9 PM), so I often end up here. There's a good amount of seating in the cafe area at this location and it isn't as crowded and hectic as the one at Tyson's, which is nice. read more

I was let down for several reasons about the Rick Riordian book signing. I had been looking forward to this even for months and didn't have any qualms with getting up early to stand in line on Tuesday to get a wrist band and to wait until Tuesday to get my book, but part of how the even was handled at the school was a let down, with a fake fire drill and horrible seating for those of us who went super early. But what got me even more than the above was that we all paid around $20 for the books, but most of us weren't even granted the B&N edition but just the typical Amazon Edition. I had read the websites multiple times and never seen anything about this...I mean, the signature is worth a lot. But if B&N is having everything go through them, then you'd think that we all would have received the guide to the Norse gods in the back of the book. Overall, I was super excited to see one of my favorite children's authors. Giving three Stars because it was for one of my favorite authors, and because the high school kids that were helping with the event dealt with the issues as well as they could. Buy a Nook and read it here! This Barnes and Noble has someone knowledgeable to walk you through the new Nook eReader. AND you can hop onto B&N's wifi with your Nook and read for free for an hour! Plus, they have promotions like free coffee or a free cookie from time to time just from you coming in and reading. As far as books go, my Amazon days are over. I love B&N! I purchased a pair of reading glasses from B&N. Tried to bring them back to the store and they told me they are "non-returnable" items. This wasn't identified at the time of purchase at all. When I asked the manager why and showed her the receipt, she became visibly upset with me. Really no way to treat someone. I wish people could just be cordial and do their jobs. read more

I went to this Barnes & Noble to purchase a specific book. First, I checked online and the website said that this specific Barnes & Noble had the book. I also want to point out that Amazon was selling the book for $8 while Barnes & Noble was priced at $12.99 but I wanted the book right then. I couldn't find the book on my own, approached the customer service desk where two women were working. One told me she was helping a customer and the other woman could help, the other woman looked at me, turned on her heel, and walked off without a hello or any acknowledgement. I stood there for a while and a male employee came up and helped. He could not find the book. He deserves a lot of credit because he was friendly and looked in several places before stating that either the inventory count was off or someone must have picked it up and moved it around the store so he could order it online for me or find it at another store or try to help me find another book. I am just really disappointed. I love books. I am like a kid in a candy store at Barnes and Noble. I was willing to pay $13 for an $8 book which is a huge markup at that price point. I probably won't go in again, at least not for a while though. Why bother?
