Great selection of children's activity books, but not a lot of classics. I had a hard time finding something for my children to read that wasn't a graphic novel or politically motivated. Wasn't a fan of some of the merchandise that was a little crass for my little one's eyes (Star Wars figures w their middle fingers up, etc). Just heads up! read more

President Obama and Kimi S approved! I've been frequenting One More Page Books for several years and while small, it's got a lot of heart! I love how welcoming the employees are, you can tell they really enjoy being there and that they love reading! The curated selection has a mix of classics, plus newbies. I sometimes get overwhelmed by the sheer selection of bigger bookstores but there is something about the way they organize the shelves that make it easy to browse and fall in love with something new that you might not have picked up before. They also lots of book meetups whether your thing is young adult, romance, mystery or fiction! I love supporting small bookstores like this! read more

I walked in here with my girlfriend, on November 14th. Within seconds, an older woman, who I assume runs the place, asked us "Are you here for the event in 15 minutes?" I responded saying "No, we're just here to look at some books" and she said "If you're not here for the event, you need to go". I saw some chairs set up but I was thrown off by the urgency in her voice as I'd never experienced being thrown out of a book store, or any establishment 15 min prior to an event. Then it dawned on my why this likely happened, my girlfriend is not white, and thus, the owner is likely racist. Do not support this book store. That woman should be ashamed of herself. read more

Seems more focused on promoting political viewpoints than providing a range of quality literature. The bookstore is fairly small, yet almost every shelf has a sticker highlighting which social justice topic needs your attention. This waters down all of them, and leaves readers who don't enjoy social activism books with a single shelf of classic literature and some book-themed knicknacks. I love bookstores and was happy to take a late weekday morning to visit a couple I have not visited before. Alas, apparently I picked the wrong day to visit One More Page Books. On the plus it is a lovely, yet small store with lots of choices and genres represented. Alas whether it is because the two staff members present were otherwise engaged I spent about 20 minutes in the small space. No one acknowledged me or even offered to assist me (even as I hung in plane site at the register with a book in my hand! One young woman was helping a lady research and order a bunch of books and the other sat in the office working over her desk. The latter eventually did get up to take a phone call, but even at the conclusion of her conversation I might as well have been invisible. No, I put the book back on the shelf and slowly walked towards the door. Never a "thank you," an "I'll be right with you," or a "thank you for coming!" Maybe I have the wrong gender for the store? In short, we who love bookstores do so because they are more than mere brick and mortar. The people help give a store its character. If this - make the man feel invisible - experience I just had normal, then no thanks. I'll return to my local Barnes and Noble where I know the staff and they know me. What a downer experience. Oh, I purchased the book I was interested in for $10 less than the store copy on amazon. I'm all about supporting brick and mortar but you need to give me some attention. If I want to be ignored, I'll order on line. Good riddance. read more

One More Page is a lovely neighborhood bookstore in a charming part of Arlington. I came from out of town so I don't know the neighborhood, but it was pleasant to walk, and the bookstore had the welcoming look and atmosphere of a village boutique. I read at One More Page on the evening of May 8. I got to hang out with Eileen and Terry, who did a great job putting on the event. The One More Page family seems to be full of kind, book-loving people - I'd read what they're reading if I were you. The bookstore was cozy and attractive, with well-stocked shelves and a section devoted to selling wine. I think every bookstore should sell wine - it pairs so well with pleasure reading. I bought a bottle of white wine for my friends at the reading. It was cheap and tasty. When I left, Eileen gave me a bottle of champagne as a thank you gift. It was really nice of her! The event went well, and though sometime patron Barack Obama couldn't make it, I had a good turnout thanks to my awesome DC friends. The reading was casual, and since the bookstore is small, it felt intimate and well attended. I go to a lot of events at my neighborhood bookstore, and it looks like One More Page offers a similar calendar to Arlington. I have very positive feelings about this store, and I'll do all that I can to go back next book. read more

I love bookstores, especially small independent ones like this. It doesn't have dozens of copies of every new release, and doesn't have tens of thousands of titles, but the selection was really quite good; I could easily have walked out with a couple dozen. The owner seems to have a pretty good idea of what book people will want; or at least what a book person like me would want. All in all a very nice little bookstore, I highly recommend it! read more

I don't often get a chance to browse bookstores. I happened on this one while killing a few hours and spent the entire time not just looking at books but also eavesdropping on the women working there. They truly love books and I learned more about what's out and what's good just spying on them as I would from a month of NY Times book reviews - and had more fun. In the end I asked for something dark and they had just the thing. Their knowledge, wit and friendliness convince me we'll always have real bookstores. This may sound a little creepy, but I'll be back for a little more ... murder. read more

This place is more than just a bookstore, it is a lively community hub for book lovers. Besides offering an excellent selection of books, stationary, candy and wine (yes, WINE!) One More Page puts a variety of literary events, including high profile author events, themed parties, wine tastings, and (in partnership with regional library systems) the legendary NoVa Teen Book Festival, all of which are free to the public. Imagine going into a cozy, independent book store where you want to buy every other thing on the shelf. Seriously, you get the sense that every single thing on the shelves is a purposeful selection and not just a cookie cutter package offered by their vendor or something.This impression is further solidified by all the handwritten post-it notes on books throughout the store, recommendations from the staff. The staff themselves are warm, helpful, and storehouses of literary knowledge. They make everyone who come into the store feel like a long time friend they're excited to geek about books with. Imagine also being able to grab a nice bottle of wine to go along with your new reads. Seriously, I don't think I could imagine a more perfect bookstore if I tried. One More Page Book Store. It's nice to find an independent book store close by in Arlington. I didn't know they were there. The atmosphere is very warm. They even have gourmet chocolates and wine. Actually the whole little street there is very quaint. Nice place to go on a Sunday afternoon. The book selections they have are unique and stimulating. The only thing is that it is a very small store so there is not a lot to choose from, but I guess that's how it is for a small independent store. I think they have only been open about 1 year or less. I'm sure you can always order anything you want. If you want a large book store the Barnes and Nobel at Seven Corners is nice store for a chain and it has a big reading section with lots of chairs. But whenever possible I will come here. read more

Though I don't get out to Arlington much, I'd make an exception for One More Page Books (OMPB). It's a lovely little independent bookstore with well-curated smartly-stocked shelves, and lots of staff recommendations (my favorite thing about indie bookstores!). It's nice to go to a bookstore where you can ask "Hey, I loved Andre Aciman's newest-- anything else you'd recommend?" and where you get a smart answer. They also seem to carry a selection of wines and chocolates (I purchased neither, but the chocolates looked lovely). We made our way there for an Up Close and Literary event and I do hope they host many more- it was a good break from the conventional reading format, and it was really nice to see authors in an organic conversation with each other and the audience. read more

Visited here the first time to attend a book launch. The store is beautiful and well organized. It's small, but most bookstores I recall before the giant soulless ones always were. They faced the store and displays very thoughtfully, including notes of recommendation and small summaries as well as indications of books you might like if you liked other more well known novels. The staff are the best part of the store though. They are excited about reading and sharing to the point of contagion. When I told them I wanted a book I could devour in a weekend the girl behind the register jumped up and down, clapping her hands, excited to share a book she had recently finished. It wasn't a book I would have normally chosen on my own, but it was a page turner. It was so pleasant to just ask for a recommendation like that and be presented with a book that the criteria while encouraging a broader reading base. I'm looking forward to attending some of their book events. They cover a wide spectrum but their wine tastings and readings sound like a blast. Wonderful store. read more

I had high hopes for this local shop. I'm one that supports local business whole heartedly and couldn't wait to check it out. A patient of mine told me about this supposed gem and I really was excited to give it my business. I love to read, had just finished my last book so I was ready to pick up few. My first experience ( I had given the shop and its staff the benefit of the doubt and gave it a second chance) was okay to start. Four women were behind the counter, not one ever came out to engage with me, find out what I was looking for, a tour of the store etc. I expected because it was local and driven by those who also love books,that they would be stoked to share their shop with me. Not the case here, I took my time to peruse, I could hang out in a bookstore for hours!. I picked up a few, read the first few pages to see if I would like it. The store is small with only a few chairs, a stool sat specifically in a corner by the "Classics" section and I hung out there for a few minutes reading and my husband sat on the chair in the front by the door. After some time I walked up to the cash wrap with my books, there was one woman now, a tallish brunette with a not so welcoming attitude, she locked eyes with me and with a look of disdain scanned me up and down. I can imagine in that part of town she may not see people like me, I am a beautiful brown queen with a faux hawk and an amazing style who also has a handsome well dressed black husband. Could that have been the reason she hurriedly rang up my purchase with no further engagement and sent me on my way?. Curious. I gave the shop another chance recently, upon entering the shop again with my husband there was one woman there. I said "hello", and one was returned. I started to look around, my husband sat in the chair again at the front waiting for me. No engagement from the woman up front, however, a caucasian family came in a few minutes later and the woman's demeanor changed just like that! The staff member was super friendly and fully engaged with the family discussing book titles, exchanging author info etc. Me?. I was left to continue my search in silence. Again, I brought books up to purchase, the staff member did not look me in the eye, just started to ring up the books, I tried in engage her by asking about a previous book event, the woman stated- " I guess it was okay, I wasn't there". and that was that, she handed me the receipt and sent me on my way. Disappointing to say the least, pretentious is the vibe I received. Was I directly discriminated against, no but I was left with the feeling I was not welcome for what ever the reason. I will NOT be returning to shop and will give my feedback to anyone that asks. read more

We went to One More Page for Independent Bookstore Day on April 30th. We had such a great time. They have an extensive book selection and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They also had many activities for IBD such as karaoke and a wine tasting. They did this great thing where the staff wrote notes about books on heart shaped sticky notes giving you a little insight into the content of the book. I overheard one of the staff members telling another patron that she loves working there and that dedication is obvious when you walk through their aisles. This is a lovely local bookstore with excellent customer service. I called about a specific line of baby books and they had three in stock (not even Barnes & Noble had them in store, and honestly I don't even know why I went there first because B&N is the worst), but the woman assisting me was so informative and helped me find a great baby shower present. She knew publication dates of several board books and was super friendly. They also offer complimentary present wrapping, which made my life so much easier! They have a great stock and layout and the service is top notch. I'll definitely return. read more

My #1 rule of shopping is to only patronize businesses that respect me as a consumer. I work in a neighboring business along the same street. I have visited the store 3 times now, and have yet to be greeted or spoken to on any occasion. Each time I have entered, on weekends only, I see the same woman working alone. She chats with other customers, asks if they need help, and wishes them farewell upon departure. I will not spend my money in a place that habitually stereotypes and judges/mistreats select customers. In all fairness to the owners the shelves are stocked with literature by authors of all races, genders, and lifestyles. I will not go so far as to say this is a bigoted establishment... But my repeat experience with this establishment is one of extremely poor customer service. read more

I'm still trying to decide how many stars to give this place. I'm giving it three stars because I liked the selection of authors and titles that the store carries and I always prefer to support local indie book stores. But the woman that was working when a friend and I stopped in tonight was rather dismal. No greeting when we walked in. My friend had to go up to ask her where to find a book that she saw in the window. And other than that she didn't talk to us at all until we went to check out. Not sure if she was unhappy to be working on a Friday night or just disinterested in her job, but it wasn't a particularly warm experience. read more
