There is so much inventory here, everyone will find a book in this gigantic store! Staff was super helpful here, I asked for a book and they were quick to point me in the right direction. Despite a Friday afternoon it didn't feel too crowded since this place has 3 or 4 floors so people can spread out, their cafe area is also huge. They had some displays with signed editions as well as buy one get one 50% off deals so you can definitely get a great deal here.

I love reading and I particularly love this Barnes and Noble it's about 3 floors the top is a cafe. The kids section is huge so much to choose from. You can easily spend all your money here lol I finally signed up to be a rewards member for free you basically get a stamp each time you purchase a book. And this weekend they had double stamps so I got 6 stamps for 3 books so happy.I must say I wish's they had a plastic bag for the books since it was pouring outside my books got a big soggy.

Chanced upon this gem after dinner with a friend. We must have spent an hour looking at all the displays, discussing which we'd read and which we wanted to read. There were so many of our favorites available plus ones we wanted to read. As we made our purchase, we asked what the employee thought of Andy Weir as neither of us had read it yet. The employee gave such an astute and helpful assessment of the books that now I've added them to the list too. What a fun find. Brick and mortar bookstores are wonderful.

Today was my first time at the Union Square Barnes and Noble. Infinity stars for this wonderful place. Seriously, come for the books and stay for the posters! Books, posters food, bookcase ladders, dark wood throughout but still bright and airy. Despite being one of the fortunate ones able to purchase a ticket to the B&N Union Sq bookfest, I was not able to go. They graciously held my signed book and I came to pick it up today. Clearly there isn't enough hoopla about Union Square, or as I will be referring to it from now on-"The Square". Not taking anything away from Times Square but this "nose always in a book or e-reader" has been changed for good! This massive four floor store is worth the trip. I picked up my book then perused the four floors. I would have stayed until closing if I didn't have a dinner reservation. The staff was amazing. You don't even notice them until you need assistance. They are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They held my book for almost a month! Thank you B&N at The Square. Bucket list goals!

Large collections in this B&N, books, toys, cards, holiday gifts etc. They have 2 floors of merchandise. Easily spend 45 mins in there to check out all the stuff. The staff is very nice and helpful. Many registers to check out and a separated customer service area for questions. Sale going on now for the holidays. 50% off on many books. $20 for toy sets. Definitely worth to look around to get a good deal.

The NON-Starbucks, Starbucks coffee shop in the Amazing Barns and Noble.

Books-YES! HUGE selection. Kids were excited to go to a 4story book store. Not a place to grab a coffee. Employee's were not that friendly. Out of many options and barista was short with responses and didn't offer any similar options, just let me keep requesting options that were unavailable at the time. They had the fourth Starbucks holiday coffee option I requested but was then quickly reminded by the barista even though EVERYTHING says Starbucks, it's not. So don't attempt paying with your Starbucks app. Oh and it's more expensive than the average Starbucks too.

A very big Barnes and Noble consistent of four floors. The main floor has a bunch of bestsellers and registers. The second floor is geared towards children (there is a bathroom for children and their chaperones). The third has a cafe, more books and bathrooms. The fourth has even more books and a space for events with folding chairs set up.

I frequent this Barnes & Noble because they have clean public restrooms on the 3rd floor, it's a beautiful building, and they do midnight book releases! We went to the Sunrise on the Reaping release last night and it was seriously so well organized and efficient --thank you to the incredible staff! Such a fun event and the same selection and great value of books from any Barnes & Noble. Our tickets were $35 and that included so many crafts, themed activities, and a hardback copy of the book.

It's cool because it's a HUGE bookstore and you could literally spend an entire day in there browsing, but other than the size of the place, there's nothing really special about it. It's just a standard Barnes and Noble. It feels like it hasn't been updated since the early 2000s though. The staff was wonderful in the way that they didn't interrupt my browsing. If I had a question, they were there. Otherwise they let me just explore quietly on my own. I would recommend going to any of the indie shops in NYC over this one! Indies are more unique and only slightly more expensive.

A great fun book from from Barnes and Noble

One of the great features of Barnes and Nobles, is that each store manager has the ability to arrange the store as they and their staff see fit. I love hard-copy books! I even read then on occasion. On this fine day I walked into B and N carrying Quest for Kimchi, which I had just received from Barnesandnoble.com. It was also available on Amazon, so call me a traditionalist but I prefer bookstores. Location, location, location are the three "Ls" of real estate and of bookstores. (Which of course happen to occupy real estate). B and N 17th St is a great location, superb staff and the place to go to get your hard-cooy fix of books from an incredible bookstore. (By the way, order yourself Quest for Kimchi by Raquel Look--a fledging new author that's #1 in the cooking humor category. A fun read that you'll only put down when you reach the last page, which contains a very mesmerizing photo of the beautiful author.

Clever, accessible curation, with a nod to AAPI readers (Year of the Rabbit), with the best books referencing rabbits in title or content

I am an indie bookstore advocate, so I have avoided Barnes & Noble for years. From my early aughts-2010s memories of the chain, it just always felt like their selection and service were mid-level and stale all around. However -- with the new CEO James Daunt (who founded book heaven Daunt Books in London), it seems like Barnes & Noble has been making moves to keep some of that indie spirit alive. And I feel it at this Union Square location. The way it's laid out makes so much sense (the entrance floor giving a sampling of every genre, and then subsequent floors are deepdives into them). It doesn't seem like the recommendations are so bland anymore. I swear their corporate team must be paying attention to Booktube/Booktok as well as all the major literary award lists and international authors as well, because the offerings are very well-curated. I am an Asian-American woman, and just a few years ago, it was SO difficult to find not only up-and-coming Asian authors but also other BIPOC authors as well. Now, there's a lot of representation but it's not limited to just a history month every year. Keep up the good work, B&N!

Such a large Barnes and Noble, I do believe 4 stories. Staff are always attentive and friendly. Currently, on the second floor they have a Heartstopper exhibit showing Charlie Spring's bedroom. It was beautiful and amazing. On the last story, they have a section for events setup like an auditorium.

However; the reason why I'm writing this update is because there are some changes at the store. Firstly; the large "Information Desk" at the rear of the first floor is no longer there. Instead, there's a small one on the right side of that floor (and it's almost hidden). Secondly; the huge first floor display of beautiful photo books of NYC and environs is now much smaller (although it seemed like there were more of them on the lower level than previously). There's also another change; the restrooms are now only accessible with a code, and a code can only be obtained via a receipt - so if you don't buy anything, you can't use the restroom (I ordered some books online later, since I didn't want to lug them home from the store). Further; employees don't have access to a bathroom code (obviously they have some other way to access the restrooms). I was there for a few hours - and if it wasn't for the fact that I had a dental appointment nearby afterwards, it would have been problematic. Having said that, I do realize that the restroom situation is an issue; at the Union Square store in particular, there used to be a big problem with homeless people and undoubtedly a corporate decision was made. I'm still keeping a five-star rating because of the employees and because the store has a great selection.

I brought in three statue items unopened in the original packaging. I checked on ebay for what the items sold for (not asking price but sold price) and it added up to about $600, I lugged the items over there and had to leave them there because they wouldn't get to them right away. The people/kids working there were very nice. I went to have lunch and got the text to return, and they are offering $150. So I picked up the items and turned down the offer. Again, they were very nice, it's just I wasn't willing to accept 25% of the value. I figured at worst it would be 50%. But I am better off getting closer to the actual price on ebay. Now, Buying. Lots of very expensive and exiting things to get, and I didn't have time to price check things so much, but my son is into the Nintendo switch and i spotted a used Marvel VS Capcom game he might like. It was $34.95. But just in case, I pulled up Amazon and looked the game up. A brand new one costs $21.79. So it would have been a terrible idea for me to buy it there. I guess if you are leaving work and need a quick gift, you might stop in and pay too much for an item. If you are in real trouble and don't have time to wait for an Ebay sale, you might consider selling your collectables for 25% the value, this place might come in handy.

Located right across from Bryant Park, it's almost impossible to walk by without going in. It's usually crowded, but that's part of its charm. The store has three levels, each worth exploring. The lower level is where you'll find collectibles, specialty pens, beautiful notebooks and stationery, unique gifts, even more books, and plenty of cute items that will tempt you to spend more than you planned. The book selection is excellent, although I have to admit the prices can be a bit on the higher side. I walked into a store that is essentially one large room, and the density of product on display meant navigating it during a busy period required some patience, but the selection within that compact space was broader than the size suggested. The Korean literature section covers both Korean language and English language editions across a range of genres, which makes it genuinely useful for anyone studying the language or looking for titles that are difficult to find at general bookstores in the city. I saw children's books in Korean, well stocked. The K pop side of the store covers albums, photocards, posters, keychains, stickers, and merchandise across a wide range of artists, with BTS having a particularly strong presence historically alongside newer groups. Pricing runs higher than what I would pay ordering online or finding the same items at a larger retailer, which is the standard trade off for a specialty shop in Manhattan. Album prices in particular can be steep, though sale events bring them down to more competitive territory. Individual accessory items like stickers and bookmarks are priced at a premium relative to their size, so going in with a sense of what I am willing to spend helps avoid sticker shock at the register. The store is a reliable stop for anyone looking for Korean books or K pop merchandise in a physical retail setting in New York, with the caveat that the pricing and the crowd level are both factors worth knowing about before I go.
