I like this location because it is in the Triangle Town Center mall. That mall is pretty pathetic in terms of store selections, but the fact that it has B&N gives it some appeal. LOL. The store wasn't overly busy on this past Saturday BUT it was a decent crowd. Great service as usual! This location has a second floor and it has a lot of floor space FULL of books, CD, Audiobooks, magazines and more. It even features a Starbucks Café off to the corner. There is lots to see and much to read. I loved all of the sitting areas. Just like other locations, great experience, just tucked inside of Triangle Town Center. There is something about going to a bookstore. Not looking through searches on Amazon and wondering if the book is really worth it. You can only tell so much from a review and dust jacket. There are fewer and fewer bookstores out there, the small mom and pop stores are rare and there are fewer and fewer big stores. Who remembers Borders? The store is spacious and clean. The selection of books is large and the prices are the prices. Books are slowly pricing themselves out of the market. I enjoyed walking around, killing time and seeing what is out there. Super sweet girls made us wonderful PSL's. Sweet lady upstairs helped us locate a specific technology book. This Barnes and Noble is the best in the area. Always clean. Smiling faces and more than you could ever ask for. They need to rip up the carpets or have them cleaned. So the little ones can sit on the floor. The smiling faces outweighs this flaw. read more

This B&N is two stories, and it's easy to get to from inside the mall and from the commons. Yesterday, they had some nice displays of staff recommendations, mysteries, self-help books, bargains, etc. on the first floor. I don't do escalators, so I took the elevator to the second floor. The restrooms, non-fiction and children's sections were up there, but that elevator was scary! It made a terrible grinding noise, the doors were slow to open, and I was afraid I wasn't going to make it. I chanced it on the way down, and it was much better. Upstairs, the education section is only four shelves, and they didn't have what I needed. A lovely associate found the book on-line, got me the on-line price (cheaper than the shelf price), and is having it delivered to me for no fee. She told me this is standard practice for B&N, but I was still grateful for her help. read more

I would like them to do well, but they did not. The have regressive pricing, which I sort of like as a book buyer, but seems wrong at the same time. The people who need books are often the people who only buy a few. Their book club wants to track and market to you, and this seems wrong and dangerous. so I paid 10% extra not to be tracked. The clerk at check out tried to upsell me on cookies and on being tracked and also had time to talk with his colleague while checking out. When I asked to see books behind the counter (the best sellers I guess), he was a bit rude but did allow me to look at them. I dunno. I'd like to encourage them, but they (B&N in general) are less like a bookstore each time I go. I did get a 2.5 foot receipt, which I can use as several bookmarks? which is nice. read more

They carry just about every book. You can spend allot of time here. the magazine rack is great. They carry hard to find magazines. The staff is always friendly in all area of the store. The music staff are great and they know there stock. This store no matter how busy , the staff always says hello. I have been here 3 or 4 times and always acknowledged when I am walking through the store. The have a Starbucks here and also they have one in the mall. Wifi is free here. Had a request for a particular book and DVDs on some family members' Christmas list. After failed attempts to find these items elsewhere I decided to head to the mall and see if Barnes & Noble had them. First stop was the music/DVD section, where I couldn't find what I wanted. As soon as the clerk was available, I asked him for item one - and it was right at the counter! For the second item he looked it up on the store computer and found it on the shelves quickly. The whole process with the clerk's assistance probably took two minutes. For the book on the list, I went to the front check out and inquired about the book. I only had the title and had no idea what section it would be located. The clerk showed me the cover of the book on the computer and told me the specific area where I could find it. This Barnes and Noble is a great place to hang and/or work from. It is never too busy and the wifi (free) works great. Starbucks Cafe to keep you fueled up. While they have a lot of new folks who come through working at the Cafe, the coffee is surprisingly consistent. Selection of books is good. Magazines are a little more narrow though. Store is always clean and I have found the staff to always be quite friendly. read more

This is a nice Barnes & Noble bookstore. There hours are also different from the mall. They are usually open earlier, and close later. The staff is always very friendly and helpful here. I have never met a staff member that was not. In the café are they sell Starbucks, but they are not Starbucks. So don't be expecting to use your Starbucks app, coupons, etc here. They used to have various spots to sit around the store, but they have been getting rid of them all. I guess they don't want people hanging around. They want you in and out. Ugh I am so torn about this Barnes in Noble's I really am. Ignoring the fact that Amazon has everything cheaper (because I know that but sometimes you need it like NOW)... I have had some GREAT service where they would order things that were not in stock and promptly let me know when they came without having to put a credit card down or anything and on the other hand, recently I have had some TERRIBLE service where the check out lady was RUDE! Not just maybe she's having a bad day kind of rude but like "I am better than you" kind of rude, which is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable!! My mother in law spends literally HUNDREDS of dollars in this particular store at a time and she still was treated pretty badly and all I could do was sit there in shock. (It took me by such surprise very honestly otherwise I would have asked for a manager.) It is frustrating to not have the consistency of service and that is why I am rating this place a three star joint. I hope to update this review very soon to tell you if it has gotten any better or worse. read more

Starting off this review: If you don't have a Barnes and Noble card you might want to get one if you tend to hit one for reading, study or coffee while... dating. Or whatever. It can pay off as you get coupons and such. Oh and they still had pumpkin spice latte. I thank you kind barista. I was looking for the W Magazine that featured a photo shoot of David & Victoria Beckham. When I couldn't find it, I asked the woman stocking the magazine section. "W Magazine? What's that about now? If it were Harry Potter, I could tell you where it is." I don't expect people in the store to know everything, BUT... it was her section of the store! I agree with the other reviewer, in that the selection isn't as tremendous as the square footage. read more

I do love a good bookstore and this place use to be a great bookstore. It has changed way too much. They use to have comfortable seating throughout the store, but sadly it is now gone. I will say the folks working there last night were helpful and friendly. I appreciate good service. I am here like once a week as its convenient to home and a great a/c to do option in the summer to take my kid. She loves books and the children's section of Barnes n Nobles. Located on the sec fl/upper level, the kids section has a Lego table..a train set to play with (usally but it was gone) and plenty of seating around a stage. I enjoy the book store but not the policies they have. I ordered an item online for in-store pick up using a promo code. I was planning on picking the item up over the weekend as picking up during the week is hectic. A day after my order was placed I received an email saying an item I wanted was not in stock and I would not be charged for it. On the 6th day, I received an email saying my order was cancelled because I didn't pick it up. I called the store telling them I was planning on coming today. They said oh yes it's fine because we were closed due to the weather. She then realized it was an online and in-store pick up and said oh sorry they automatically cancel after 5 days. You can replace the order but use the promo code. read more

The selection here isn't great especially for this large a BN. The fantasy/sci-fi section is weak, the books that fit the category are very inconsistent. Some horror novels are shelved here, while others are put in general fiction. I realize these decisions are probably not made at this particular location, but it's still frustrating. They seem to regularly stock some books by certain authors but not others, which makes it frustrating when you're trying to go though a new series you've discovered. It's often hard to find new releases. A new book might be where it's ordinarily shelved, in the new books aisle, or on any one of a series of tables and shelves near either of the two entrances. I once found something I was looking for on a temporary cardboard stand that was facing the front cash register in such a way that only the people standing in line or leaving the checkout area could see it. The staff is always friendly and willing to help, but I don't always have time to ask for help and don't feel that I should have to. The biggest problem with this location is the condition of many of the books. The shelves near the large windows often have books with faded spines and covers because they've been sitting in too much direct sunlight. And the store appears to have a humidity problem, it's common for me to see paperbacks with wavy pages and covers that are curling up, most often when they're placed facing out on the feature racks. read more

I called this store to see if they had a book I wanted to buy. I was on hold forever before someone helped me. A lady (should have written her name down but trusted her) told me the book was $16.00 and there were 3 copies left. I drove 50 miles on my only day off to get the book. I wait foreverrrrr in checkout(one cashier for the entire line) and he says $26. I told him of my convo on the phone. He calls over a what I am guessing a manager. After 20 mins of her interrogating me she finally said "oh the lady you spoke to looked at the line above the book you want on the computer...she said sorry. I explained that I had driven to the store to get this book and my time was now wasted. She acknowledged the person on the phone made the MISTAKE but offered me no solution at all. She was worthless. I will never shop at Barnes NOT Noble again. A few dollars cost this store years of business from me. read more

I ordered a venti vanilla bean frap & it was very crunchy with ice, and I could barley taste the frap itself.. I asked them if they could remake it, and they said sure, but they never did.. I had issues with stars because I always come in because it's a great location and very clean. Some employees here are amazing!!!! One was a black female, short with long hair. She went out of her way to find a book that just came out, but wasn't on the shelves yet. I was so thankful to her and she was very patient with me. We meandered a bit in the store after I had the book in hand then I went to the front nearest Cinnabon and Yankee candle side with the registers. I was met with such immense rudeness. Andrea or aundrea or some A name, taller white thick female with shorter hair. No hello, hi, suck it- nothing. Do you have a Barnes and Noble card was all I got. She didn't even tell me the total. She rolled her eyes when I walked up and I was like hey, how are you then she put her hand to her head and sneered. I bought the book and told her to have a better day and I was met with a face. It's a book store lady, chill out a bit. If you're sick, don't come in. If you hate your job, find one that maybe you hate less or where you don't have to be in customer service. I was directed to go to customer service for assistance with purchasing online and picking up in store to get the on-line price. Customer service was cold and unhelpful. The customer service sucks. I was in store today to inquire about a book and could find no one to help me. When I finally did find a clerk I was told the last book just sold yesterday. No effort was made to,ask if I wanted to order. Another problem was I drive 12 miles to purchase a speciality magazine which was no longer available and was told the store doesn't ever know what magazines they will be getting as there is only 1 distributor and they are in control of what is shipped to store! To me that sounds unbelievable coming from a nation wide bookstore chain. I will be thinking hard about visiting this store again and/or recommending this store to anyone I know. I live less than 1/2 mile from the Brier Creek store but they don't get my magazines either! read more

I witnessed something today at this barnes and noble that was one of the more heartless things i have seen in person. I was sitting in the starbucks inside the bookstore reading when an elderly lady purchased a hot coffee and a muffin. Just as she sat down she leaned on the tray that was hanging off the edge of her table and dumped the full hot coffee all over herself while the muffin got drenched and fell to the floor. I and barista rushed over to her to make sure she was ok . I picked up the tray full of coffee and the drenched muffin and put it on the counter. The barista ran and got her a towel and was genuinely concerned about her well being , even though he had a line forming. After he handed her a towel and asked if she was ok and if she needed anything else , the barista said i'll make you a new coffee and get you another muffin in a bit. Visibly shaken , She said thank you ....... about 3-5 minutes later the manager of the barnes and noble , Johnny, came over and asked the barista what happened. The barista told him what happened and i thought this was the end of it but i was wrong. After a minute or 2 the barista came back to the lady and said that she would have to pay for another muffin.... i assumed that this decision was made by the manager johnny due to the fact that the barista showed enormous empathy for the woman. I then got up and asked johnny "did you just make that lady pay for another muffin" ? He then replied " Yes , its for inventory purposes". I then go return the book i was reading to its shelf and ask johnny on the way out " so an elderly lady dumps scolding hot coffee all over herself ruining her dress and is obviously shaken and your concern is for the muffin being accounted for , heartless". I then take 10$ out of my pocket and tell johnny go give this to the lady , who then replies " you go give it to her i don't know which one it is ". It has now dawned on me that the manager , Johnny, had never even went to the lady to check on her to make sure she was ok. I don't know what was worse making her pay for another muffin or never going to check on the shaken lady at all. Now there are a whole section of books dedicated to empathy towards fellow human beings in your store.
