Books with friends, always good to come here, big selection, books by section, my favorite magazines
    Jacqueline S.

Always find something great to read here, big selection of magazines, gifts, boxed books sets. The kids section. / young readers too is full of books, current, references, "Learn to Read" and fun stuff like Mad Libs, coloring books. The staff in this store is fun, friendly, full of great suggestions and books the gust finished reading. "Books are friends" go ahead and browse. Easy parking, close to CalTrain & Safeway, and a few blocks from Sequoia High School, in the Shopping center.

My sister wanted to stop by and pick up some books she's been looking for. We walked in and began browsing. I wasn't on the market for more books so I walked around in circles. At some point I decided to inquire about a specific book at the register and no one looked up to help till I saw someone make eye contact so I asked for the book and she walked me to area where the book was. I also found a large set of books for my kiddo in the young readers section. It's a large section with a large variety of books. This location has a wide variety of items besides books. It's a large store and all the employees seemed busy up at the cash register but one ended up in the area our group was checking out books. Unaware if we were being followed as she stood there never said a word and began arranging the bookmarks. I felt uncomfortable with her presence and decided to keep walking in circles. I returned the set of books to its area and decided to not purchase anything. This location was not welcoming and lacked attentiveness for the amount of employees they had in the store. There was a few customers scattered around the store so it was not busy. It has a large selections of books and has the bookstore feel. Many customers were sitting around reading the books on the shelves. Workers seemed to mind their business around these folks but my large group received extra attention and not the welcoming kind. Will definitely keep this experience in mind if I stop by here again.

Kathleen was incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful when advising me on what books to buy. I brought in a long list of sci-fi and fantasy titles and she suggested I start with The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson. I love this book so far and am glad I went with her recommendation. She also provided me a few other titles to add to my queue, I sincerely appreciate her time and will be returning to this store because of it.

Jr readerz section is pretty complete despite being a small format B&N.

I'm a library first dad, but B&N is always a nice place to visit...it presents what is happening now in a way the library simply doesn't. This one is a small format B&N, which means the catalogue serves popular and dispenses with deep dives on fiction and general literature. You will find the staples of new bestsellerz, self help, how to get rich quick, etc. and lots of impulse buy trinkets. Of note is the well stocked Junior Readerz section. If you are in gift mode for a kids party this is a great pkace to zip in and grab a book, or, if you cant resist the urge, the legos and furry animals is also in stock. Summary: reading is still a great past time, and B&N is here to help.

Pick up a coloring book at B&N, and color instead of taking Tequila shots. :)

This may be my favorite used bookstore yet!…read more The ladies working there were so welcoming and friendly. They let me and my boyfriend in a few minutes before opening so we could get out of the cold. So thoughtful. The selection was amazing. I snagged some older titles and then came across a table with some newer titles and all $6 and under. What a bargain. Will absolutely be back!

At first I couldn't find this place because there was a mini golf set up in the courthouse square…read more I had to literally walk around the block and saw these signs that read "used books" "this way" haha. This place is really hole-in-the-wall basement ish warehouse type feel bookstore. The prices are amazing for the used books. It is incredibly reasonably priced. I found two children's books in very good quality for $1 each. What a steal! For the most part, don't expect finding hot new bestsellers in here. This place is like for book antiques or if you need a used copy of something that might be a few years back. It was good for what I needed since I'm looking for some older historical fiction books about the American revolution. I was surprised to find two books here that I needed and so maybe you'll get lucky too! The couple who owns this place are very friendly. They said hi right upon me walking in. Selection is pretty wide, the books genres are organized in a neat way but the books themselves are scattered. For example, the fiction and nonfiction adult books are alphabetical order by last name but the children's books are not. It made things harder for me to look but I didn't mind since I had time. If you're in a rush then maybe this place isn't the best or just ask the lady up front for help! Overall this place is a gem and the proceeds go to a good cause--San Mateo historical foundation!
