I went there last weekend, this barnes & noble seem to be smaller than other ones. I was trying to look for boxes of christmas card. The choice is not that good. Price is pretty expensive, around $19 per box of 16 cards. I did not get it. Parking is good, since it is a small plaza with CVS and other stores. I have no problem in parking. read more

B&N is a nightmare to deal with online. They charge for two-day shipping, and it takes a week or more to get to you. They basically charge you extra for faster shipping but send it normal shipping and pocket your money. Most dishonest bookstore besides amazon I have ever dealt with. read more

One of the few Barnes and Nobles still left standing and and it seems to be going strong in captivating customers with their wide inventory and high quality items at competitive prices. As you enter the store, you'll be greeted with seasonal items as well as new and on sale products. The store is very well organized. Each row and section seems to be themed to help you find what you're looking for. Whether that's books, toys, legos, kits, board games, trading cards or something seasonal, you'll find great options. There's a section specifically dedicated to young children so if you're shopping for some, you'll quickly be acquainted with all the new and popular kid stuff. And if you're looking for some high end stuff (Pokémon cards, Magic the Gathering cards, collectible Lego sets), check near the registers. On top of all the options available, the prices are actually comparable to online stores. But instead of waiting for it to be shipped and risk getting damaged in transit, you can pick it up and have it with you right away! For those of you who are into reading on ebooks, be aware that kindle and books have different formats. The only concern is that the register operators may be slow or overworked and therefore errors may occur. Just pay attention as they ring you up and process payment. This mall has plenty of parking and seems to be typically empty. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops nearby but the traffic near the mall is atrocious during rush hour. Just be mindful in your commute. Overall, great store at a great location with a variety of gifts and items. With the competitive prices, this is a good alternative to risking online shopping for items that may not be the same condition as you'd expect when making the purchase. Still, staff tried their best to find the product to no avail. Slightly disappointing. Still, I'll take a Barnes and Noble over no Barnes and Noble. I love this location. Its small but has a lot of good copies. The employees have always been very nice and helpful. I usually go during the weekday, so it's normally tidy, and someone is always at the register. You can ask for help with the locations, but I like to browse, and they have good signage everywhere with books organized by the author's last name in that genre section. Most of their books are well taken care of and dont look like a lot of other people flipped through the pages. I can always tell whose the supervisor, she always tries to sign me up for extra stuff which is annoying but her job so I get it. They share the parking space with other businesses, but its huge and ive never had any issues. read more

My sister wanted to stop by and pick up some books she's been looking for. We walked in and began browsing. I wasn't on the market for more books so I walked around in circles. At some point I decided to inquire about a specific book at the register and no one looked up to help till I saw someone make eye contact so I asked for the book and she walked me to area where the book was. I also found a large set of books for my kiddo in the young readers section. It's a large section with a large variety of books. This location has a wide variety of items besides books. It's a large store and all the employees seemed busy up at the cash register but one ended up in the area our group was checking out books. Unaware if we were being followed as she stood there never said a word and began arranging the bookmarks. I felt uncomfortable with her presence and decided to keep walking in circles. I returned the set of books to its area and decided to not purchase anything. This location was not welcoming and lacked attentiveness for the amount of employees they had in the store. There was a few customers scattered around the store so it was not busy. It has a large selections of books and has the bookstore feel. Many customers were sitting around reading the books on the shelves. Workers seemed to mind their business around these folks but my large group received extra attention and not the welcoming kind. I happened to be in Redwood City and was shocked to find this Barnes and Noble. There is a lack of bookstores nowadays and it's really refreshing to see this Barnes and Noble was doing well. There was a good stream of customers coming in and out of the store, a wide variety of books and public restrooms. Always make sure to double check the prices to see if you can find a book, game or movie elsewhere for a better price as some items can be a bit pricer. There was a sale section and a handful of special deals going on like the "buy one and get the second one half off for mangas" I was able to buy a couple of items for a reasonable price and my friends also purchased a couple of items. read more

I called for Pokemon, the associate answers and sounds like the young man with glasses short hair that answered he said only 1 Pokemon item per customer due, this is due to high demand and low supply. I speed over stirring my break from work to see him selling 3 Pokemon 151 Tins to one customer (probably a friend). I ask if anymore left to no surprise no he slid last 3 to her. I asked why did he tell me and another customer only one if he is selling more to others. If employees don't have integrity I guess that speaks for the store since the manager (older white male) was there and did nothing but heard everything. Incredibly disappointing. It may just be cardboard but books are just paper, the content holds value to those who want a chance to purchase what they want. Be better this is people's time and effort some employees waste. I just left the store after visiting with my 3 children. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you are an African American, they showed themselves to be very racist at this location! I came in with my children and went to the children's books area briefly, I left my teenage daughter in the kids section with my other kids as I went to the front to ask for restroom code. The lady was going to give it to me it seems, then asked her coworker should she just open it for me. Then she said her manager would open it for me, then when I said thanks after she opened it for me, and no reply at all. Shortly after restroom visit, I went to go checkout for a book. One lady was occupied checking someone out, The other woman was on her phone. Then she picked up the phone and began speaking to a customer after recently just hanging up a call, while giving me eye contact while I wait in line to pay with an impatient toddler. I been here once before with my teenage child and I asked for restroom code and received it no problem , but as a black male without them visually seeing the children with you, they treat you very differently. It was my first time here since I needed to pick up a book that was nowhere to be found in the South Bay Barnes and Noble Bookstores. So the drive was not too bad going to and from there but I was still feeling a bit anxious. Once I arrived, parking was so easy since there were plenty of parking spaces in that area in front of the store. The wait in line didn't take long at all and the one who I spoke with over the phone before coming here excitedly waved my book in the air indicating he had it when he saw me lol while he was still in the middle of ringing someone else up. He continued to remain professional though even after it was my turn and I approached the register. I was so happy the bookseller P. saved it for me since it was the last copy. Mr. P was genuinely kind and very mindful, provided great customer service, very personable. I liked and appreciated that very much. So even though I don't live close to this store, I still came and was treated very kindly the whole time that I was here. Perhaps I can come visit again someday. read more

Came across this Barnes & Noble rather unexpectedly one day while on the hunt for some board games. While it's great to see a bookstore up and running in these times, it genuinely felt like this small store was overcrowded with books and people (it was quite busy). This Barnes & Noble feels a bit on the smaller side. Their Funko Pop is limited to one wall but it's stacked so high that it makes it hard for people to reach the top without a step stool. I like to go through the pops one by one so this was a bit difficult to do. There is a good sized parking lot here though which is nice. read more

I'm a library first dad, but B&N is always a nice place to visit...it presents what is happening now in a way the library simply doesn't. This one is a small format B&N, which means the catalogue serves popular and dispenses with deep dives on fiction and general literature. You will find the staples of new bestsellerz, self help, how to get rich quick, etc. and lots of impulse buy trinkets. Of note is the well stocked Junior Readerz section. If you are in gift mode for a kids party this is a great pkace to zip in and grab a book, or, if you cant resist the urge, the legos and furry animals is also in stock. Everyone knows B&N has books. A lot of them, and a good cross-section of every kind. But, I go to B&N for much more than books. I am one of those people who still love to go to a bookstore just to browse around at titles. :) That is my idea of an afternoon well spent. Although I do prefer to go to small-owned bookstores, (and any business for that matter) we live in a box store world, and so it is. Here is my review: I have been going to Amazon for 98% of my books for...a long time. Before the days of Amazon though, in the 1990s, when bookstores and coffee shops were the up-and-coming cool thing to do, I became a lover of perusing the non-library bookshelf for synchronistic finds. Somehow, B&N survived the demise of the Big-Box Bookstore with the rise of the dotcom era. This is because they figured out how to be much more than a bookstore. This B&N is decent, but it is small and it is good for running in and getting (fairly) quick items if you are in the area. It has no coffee shop and no place to sit and read or do work. This is part of why I like this B&N - the Hillsdale B&N has all of that, so if you are in the Redwood City area, it's location is convenient just off El Camino and you can run in and get little things here. Like I said earlier, I go to B&N for much more than books. I get my daughter's birthday and Christmas presents here (which do include books of course). They have a small but good selection of things like plush toys, interactive books and workbooks, gift wrapping, book lights (which my daughter, who is only 5, loves to have!), little gifts, journals, Moleskines (I go through tons of these for my research), book bags, etc. I have found the service here great. More than once I have run in with little to no time to get something, and I have been pointed in the right direction and found exactly what I needed in under 10 minutes. One time I needed to grab a couple books the night before I was leaving on a trip to Costa Rica. I ran in here to get a small and portable Spanish-English dictionary (admittedly, I do not speak Spanish) and a small book about Costa Rica. Of course they had many choices, but I was able to find the right ones that fit into my already stuffed backpack perfectly. I actually used them on my trip too. Can't go wrong. On another note, this B&N has a huge selection of coloring books for grown-ups! And, they are in the bargain price area so they are really reasonable. I picked up a couple of them a few weeks ago, and, instead of taking Tequila shots to deal with stress, I am coloring! Hahahaha. Try it, it actually works. One of the bigger commercail bookstore in my area but not a big as the Barnes & Noble in San Jose. I did happen to find the books I was looking for under unusual circumstances with one of the young store clerks.. It wasn't funny but the young lady with the streak of magenta in her hair that help me quickly find the books I was looking for stopped at a couple of areas and books just fell off the shelves at her side. She thought it was funny...I didn't really....there was no obvious reason the books should have come falling off the shelves at her side. There was no one near us. We weren't having an earthquake and we weren't in the midst of a tornado or hurricane. I don't play that nonsense...I believe in the power of prayer and the power of God. I assumed there was some sort of demonic spirit moving through her so after the second incident and her laughing, I looked her straight in the eyes as she came up off the floor from picking up the books. I was quietly praying in the name of Jesus. The young clerk stopped laughing and no more books came flying off the shelves. The girl did know where all the books I was looking for were at and was quick to find what I was looking for. read more

This Redwood City B&N is a smaller than usual store that has no cafe. Other than those 2 things though, which I barely noticed because they had what I wanted, I don't like coffee and avoid high-calorie treats, it's just as great as any other location. The staff is super-friendly, store clean and sale section fun to browse. Though I didn't get through most of the store, I noticed their cookbook section was thorough. I found a healthy slow-cooker book there... I've been meaning to get one of those for forever! (Of course, I had to buy something not on sale.) I'm going to use it to make dinner tomorrow. I'll definitely be back. But I'll really try to avoid the See's Candy that shares their parking lot next time. :banghead: See ya there. read more

Shoutout to this place just for being here. It's nice to have a place to stay when you're waiting for your perpetually late friend to pick you up from the train station. There's nothing particularly special about this store, but it's always fairly busy, which is kind of surprising for a Barnes and Noble. It can be somewhat of a mess and pretty disorganized, but it is what it is. Nobody gives you a hassle for reading, and I've definitely stayed here for over an hour without anybody even approaching me. Just a few more train rides, and I'll finally finish my lifelong dream of reading every Guy Fieri book ever written. What a good use of my college education. read more

A well stocked bookstore. When I don't feel like driving the extra ten minutes to Keplers (which is better) I go here, though, these days I do most of my book shopping online. Parking is ample, staff is quite helpful, they have a fine collection of books for different genres, a well stocked children's section and lots of places to sit down to hang out (and the staff won't bother you about it as some places do). They also have restrooms. Oh, and if you want to do other things, there are lots of stores in this plaza like Safeway, Jamba Juice, Fresh Choice, Blockbuster, Maxs, etc. read more

It could have been so much more, but it's ALMOST worth three stars if not for three big reasons: it's lack of inventory, size and employees to help you. It's looks pretty cool with it's wood and cozier styling but it's B&N jr....it's smaller than the Colma location I reviewed. It also doesn't help that there's no cafe (damn it no red velvets), which would be a boon to business. It's also severely understaffed. The two times I've been here, there were only three employees in a such a small bookstore. Colma had at least ten employees. The lack of seating and inventory (there's a pretty good selection of magazines but otherwise it's scattered) it just only makes it a stop-off for that necessary magazine or book that's in stock. read more

I went in to use a gift card, I don't go to B&N very often any more because I have a kindle the store is way over priced. There seemed to be 2 employees working, one woman was very helpful, offering suggestions and taking me to find a book that I wanted. The man working the register seemed bored and uninterested, I probably would be too considering that they store was empty but I would have appreciated the effort. Decent book store if you need something. The prices just make me crazy. Because I wasn't looking for anything particular I can't really complain about their stocking/selection. I now understand the mixed reviews for this store. My wife purchased 2 books as gifts that we wanted to return after Christmas. I made the first attempt to return these - because I had her receipt, but not her credit card, I was told that B&N could give me store credit but not credit her card. I declined that offer, so my wife went back to return the books and was told one of them was "damaged" and could not be returned; the damage was so slight we did not even notice it before then, nor was it brought up during my initial attempt to return. Very bad customer service and policies. I read a book every 1-2 weeks and this just reinforces my habit to continue purchasing everything from Amazon. We will never shop at a B&N again - no wonder these guys are losing market share so badly! read more

For the couple times I have been here, I can say that staff is super friendly. This is the smallest Barnes and Nobles bookstore I have been to and this store must be one of the older ones and it doesn't have a cafe. It would be nice if they had tables but that wouldn't stop me from coming here. It has that nice quiet atmosphere because there is no grinding of coffee beans or blending of frapps that you would hear from the cafe. read more
