I love how there is a great selection of cute gifts designed by local artists as well as community events. The children's section is inviting and offers so many books for all ages levels. I usually stop here before visiting Asia to pick up books for my niece and friends' kids. I'm always able to find an age-appropriate book that suits their current interest here. Great little bookshop located in one of the busier areas of Fremont, across from the Hub! I was looking for a specific title that had just been released and wanted to support a local shop rather than buying off Amazon, so I came here. I've stopped by once or twice before but this was the first time I had time to really browse and make a purchase. The staff were super nice and found the book for me right away. They have a good selection of recent, popular titles, organized well and even have staff recommendations posted throughout the store if you're looking for your next read. They also have stationary and different knickknacks for sale too. Parking is difficult to find in this area but luckily I found a spot not too far away. Be careful backing out as the streets are quite narrow and there are always pedestrians. I'm looking forward to coming back here! read more

This is a cute, clean, small local book store. There are usually 2-3 workers there at all times to help you find anything or check out. It has a really great selection for the size of the store and they mention that if you cannot find a book in store they can order it for you. I have not attended any myself, but have seen signs about events and book clubs they have here as well. I feel like there aren't enough book stores in our area so I'm glad that we have this one here! And it's in a great location as they continue to build up this part of Fremont. read more

This is such an overdue review. We LOVE Banter and are so happy to see a bookstore as bright and inviting as Banter open in Fremont. Their staff is so friendly and helpful, and they have a great variety of books for anyone and everyone. I also appreciate the great diversity of books that they have, and they also feature local authors. Banter also has events and our favorite is story time! Such a cute bookshop, which is rare in this digital age. I've been here a handful of times but during our most recent visit, we had to bring the kids. I always end up getting caught up at the table outside which features a puzzle that everyone and anyone can contribute to in completing. Everything is clearly marked by genre and age appropriate sections. There's even an area Newark the back for little ones/story time. Store is warm, welcoming and clean. I don't know how long this bookstore has been here but it's super cute! Very bright + well lit with a great curated selection of many, many books I'd love to buy. Bookstores are my jam and were also my daycare when I was younger, so this was fun to visit. They have lots of cute accessories as well, including bookmarks, stickers, reading journals, cards, etc. The staff is friendly without being pushy and the shelves have lots of cute little markers/tabs with staff recommendations/notes if you need some reading inspo/help with choosing your next book. If you're looking for a book that they don't have, you can order it online or on person to have it mailed to you or to pick up in the store. They have a free rewards program too where if you spend (I think $200), you get $10 off your next purchase, and your points never expire, so that's always a plus! Of note, I dragged my brother with me here and while he likes the concept, he did feel the selection catered more to women. His gf and I really like it here, so we may or may not be proving his point, It looks like they offer storytime twice a week for kids and also host author talks! :] I hope this place flourishes -- independent bookstores make my soul happy and Fremont needs one! read more

Bookshop is superclean and staff really greets you when you come in, also ask if you need any help. If a book is not available, they can order for you. Staff tried to order the book they don't have on hand, she said it takes roughly 5 days to them to receive it- just to keep in mind. Books are full price but can't argue with that since they are a local bookstore. Location is great with other small business next to each out. There are different areas for different genre.. Down side is the parking since it's one way only and then there's more parking on the other side which is the opposite. read more

I love this bookshop! It's so cute and well organized. I've been here a few times and seriously I've never seen it messy. All the staff members I have encountered have been really nice. They have so many book options and they're organized by genre which helps! Some of the books have a decent price while some are a little more pricey, but that's gonna be like any book shop you go to. This is not a place I would spend hours at, like B&N, in fact I only saw one seat in the store (two if you count the kids section), but it's cute and cozy, and offers a little bit of everything. Different genres of books for all ages, travel guides, a mind body spirit section with interesting reads related to psychology and mental health, and a single shelf dedicated to gifts, games, and puzzles. I picked up some fitting gifts for the nieces and nephews on black friday, including pokemon mad libs and a rabbit hole game. ​A cute bookstore in a newer part of town, Banter Bookstore packs a lot of books in a small space. Located in the downtown Fremont shopping district, this shop has a little bit of everything. All the shelves are labeled well, with many staff recommendations for all genres. For those of you with children (or are just children-at-heart), the back area is filled with children's, middle-grade, and YA titles. In the 2 times I've visited in the past few months, I've always found something to purchase, either for myself or as a gift. Banter hosts 2 different book clubs at their location, along with children's' story time weekly. Also, any book club that registers with the store can get 15% off books for their group. And there is a free membership loyalty program, where customers can earn credit for future purchases. Street parking is available, though it can be tough on the weekends. He called about 2 books they had one. When we got to the store they had it waiting for him plus the prequel to the book he was looking for which he had not read. This is the first store I went to in Fremont's shopping district. I really like how they organize books especially with how calm the place is. Many books to look over. However, there weren't many types of books like anime and specific categories of a subject (e.g. World History and Algebra). I love Banter Bookshop. Every time I go in, I'm greeted with employees who are happy to help, and happy to be there. It's clear they love books. I'm always finding stories I want, which is surprising for such a small, cute shop. Special orders are easy, and arrive pretty quick. Ever since the devastating loss of Barnes and Noble and Borders just a few years ago - literature enthusiasts and introverts have been aching to fill that void with somewhere to escape. Finally, although small, we can at last be surrounded once again by the sight of tall shelves filled with fiction and fantasy in paperback. I had the pleasure of attending a book signing that Banter had hosted just a few weeks back. It was quite an evening that I was very excited to be a part of and I'm so elated that Banter can offer a way for us readers to connect with the writers! Finally able to check out this bookshop right next to rāwSF located in Fremont. The first time I tried coming here was on a holiday (Monday) and of course they were closed. This store is brightly lit and has a pretty decent selection of books for all different types of readers and ages. I liked that they had 2 selections. One selection I noticed in their middle grade section was for books intended for students of Fremont Unified School District and a section highlighting a nonprofit organization based out of Berkeley called the Prisoners Literature Project. Shoppers can donate any book they purchased from the store and the owner will drop it off to their head quarters which will then be given free to prisoners across the U.S. I was impressed with their selection of books. As an avid reader and bookstagrammer dedicated to Filipino literature and Asian American Literature I appreciated the wide selection of multi-cultural books that very much reflect the Fremont community. Saw lots of authors I knew of and books I have seen other bookstagrammer post but haven't had a chance to pick up. But also lots of books I hadn't heard of before but wanted to read. They also have a special program for avid book buyers where you purchase a certain amount in $ and you will get some cash back. I also noticed they had flyers for community events and weekly read aloud opportunities for the kids! They also had a couple cushion chairs for you to sit while you wait or read. New books in a bright, clean shop? I mean, come on, what's not to love? I'm a book lover who grew up spending hours in Borders (remember those?) and Barnes and Nobles. So a new book store that's local? I'm there. I've been to Banter a handful of times since it's opened and each time has been such a pleasant experience. Sometimes I'm there to look for something in particular, other times I'm there just to browse. For a small bookshop, they've got quite the selection and the prices aren't too bad either. You'll maybe spend a couple more dollars than you would on Amazon for the same book. Along with books, they also have gifts, stationary, etc. During my last trip, I just went to buy a card. The staff is always super helpful too. Never pushy, but available if you need help. They often host book readings and events too! I haven't been to one of those yet but I'm eager to check it out. Literally the CUTEST bookstore! They have an amazing selection of books for all different types of readers. They also have a section for home goods, candles, and the best smelling teas wow. The best part is that they are partnered with the nonprofit, Prisoners Lit Project, where you are able to donate/purchase request books for people who are incarcerated. I love this so much as it promotes that everyone has the right to read! I purchased/donated one book for this cause: one that teaches people how to draw and make crafts with only a paper and a pencil. They even included a thank you note with my purchase!
