This is a nice Barnes & Noble shop in the Chesterfield Town Center. It opens to the food court. They have a large, well-stocked variety of books and gifts, as well as a Starbucks in-store. The bathrooms are nice and clean. The checkout line was running smoothly as well. It's definitely a busy store, which I was glad to see. read more

This Barnes & Noble was so busy on this Saturday afternoon! I came to meet a group of fellow poets for a book signing for our anthology and it was a fun event! Like most B&Ns, the bookstore was well stocked and neat. The magazine department has a wide selection! We stopped on the café to grab a scone and tea which was soothing and delicious! Good service there! Our event was pretty successful with all the foot traffic and a couple of people bought the book for their grads. (Side note: There was another event there near ours and I think it would have been better to just have one at a time because they seem to conflict/clash.) Anyway, What a thoughtful gift. We all signed them and we enjoyed talking with fellow poets and poetry lovers alike! It's so thrilling to see so many folks supporting local writers and keeping the written word alive! The book signing was from 2-4, but when we arrived the table and chairs weren't set up and the employees had to scramble to arrange our spot. If looking for bookstore this is nice and clean and well organized Seems well staffed as well

My wife was waiting for me so I was in a hurry to get in line and check out. The lone cashier was talking to a customer and instead of directing her inquiries to the 3 Customer Service reps in the store she elected to vacate the cashier station and left it unmanned for over 5 minutes. I was so frustrated I was going to take a picture of the books I had selected and buy them on Amazon. She came back and with no apologies proceeded to try and convince me to join their membership program despite my repeated negative replies. I guess the customer's time is not important to the employees of this store. Keeping the checkout line totally unstaffed for any length of time with a customer in line is simply unacceptable. This is the last time I do business with this store. read more

Barnes and Noble is a great place for those seeking to gain information the old fashioned way - through a book. Don't let that preconception fool you though, Barnes and Noble is growing with the times and expanding their offerings to things such trendy tablets, music, and a wider selection of toys. Personally, I've always gone to Barnes and Noble for their selection of latest magazines (I'm still into that), seasonal toys, and whatever book catches my eye for the day. It's hard to be bored here, there's so much choices to read and learn from, that you can get lost in this place for hours. Not too mention, most if not all, locations will have a Starbucks conveniently located within or nearby, so it can fulfill that book plus coffee stereotype even more (not that it's a bad combination). I view Barnes and Noble as one of the last great stores from the older times. When reading was done on a paper page, not digital screen. They're still carrying the torch, keeping the tradition alive, and I love that. I hope this place influences the younger generation to take their eyes off their screens for a few seconds, to explore the joys of reading a good book. Though they better have money, because some things here aren't exactly cheap. I recommend this store to all people. read more

When it come to books, I am an old school reader. Audio and ebooks are ok but there is nothing like opening a book and to touching those pages. It makes me feel connected and more intimate with the story I am reading. Well I was in end need of some good reads and dropped by this particular Barnes and Noble. It is quite large and even has a Starbucks inside. There was quite a few people reading and working in the cafe area. I was having a hard time finding 2 books I was looking for. They have a customer service smack dab in the center of store and the man working there was awesome. He helped me find the books I was looking for and more. He made some great suggestions as well. I was looking for some inspirational books to help my mom and he ushered me to the right selections. If you sign up to be a Barnes and Noble member you get free shipping, 10% off all purchases including the first one and access to exclusive discounts and coupons. It is a flate fee of $25 but worth it if you are a bookworm and shop there or on their online store often. I saved $11 on my purchase and also received some coupons. I thought this was a quite nice Barnes & Noble. It is built into the Chesterfield Towne Center mall and has a direct open gateway into the food court. It also has an outside entrance from the parking lot. I thought it was quite large for a Barnes & Noble and very spacious, clean, and with lots of nice seats all around. The cafe was also quite large and had multiple parts to it which I think makes a real difference as the quality of the B&N cafe can make it a good place or not to relax/read/chat. We frequent this Barnes and Noble for a number of reasons. We have an extensive library and prefer books to tablets although for travel find the latter useful. We also love having a store to browse and do not want to loose book stores to Bezos' Amazon so we buy our books in stores and most at BN as we appreciate the ability to not only browse but sit comfortably. I do enjoy the toy and game department filled with unique choices. The sales tables are always fun as well with great deals. The BN stores are always clean and neat (including gender specific bathrooms!) with plenty of staff to assist. We actually seek out BN when traveling for our coffee and pit stops. At our local Chesterfield store our cafe is fabulous with delicious food choices and plenty of tables. And MEGAN is THE best barista ever! Many cannot handle my afternoon specialty "Cali girl starbucks" type order: "a tall decaf misto pour over in a real ceramic cup with extra thick foam and a dollop of whip cream..... and a biscotti!" I was in the store today at Chesterfield Town Center and witnessed the store manager, an older white man with white hair, walk up behind one of the female baristas and play with her hair while telling her how pretty it was. I tried to call corporate, but it seems that you have to have an order or membership number before they'll take the call. This young barista was probably still in her teens, so the manager's behavior was highly inappropriate on a number of levels. I'm sure this was captured on surveillance video, if anyone at corporate cares enough to investigate. read more

This is my favorite Barnes & Noble in the Richmond area. It is connected to Chesterfield Towne Center. Very convenient if you want to visit other parts of the mall. This Barnes & Noble was added to the mall back in 2008. It was originally located across Huguenot Road as a stand alone bookstore. United Artists Theater was originally located where Barnes & Noble is today. This location is a good decent size. It has a large seating area for its Starbucks Cafe. Everything seems to be really organized. They have a Nook tablet section. I've noticed that a lot of events happen at this Barnes & Noble, such as book signings. The bookstore is in a good central location in Richmond, making it easily accessible. Staff is friendly and helpful. Parking close to the bookstore can be hard, but you'll manage to find one a bit further. Exercise is good for you! The only thing I don't like here is their bathroom. I see graffiti on the stall doors, and it just stinks in there. read more
