Abi's Books and Brews is the perfect combination of coffee, books and records. If I miss anything it's because I was fixated on the books. Upon entering, the books are found along the wall, there are tables and chairs to sit and the coffee is ordered at a counter right in the center of the store. Towards the back, they have a section just for kids and young adults. Also, there are plenty of parking outside. They have new and old books available at decent prices. One of the best things I have ever seen is they have a dedicated turning bookcase for BANNED books of Hanover county. It is a lending library. You choose a book, open it and scan the QR code inside and check off the book you picked. Then, you return it when you're done. No time limit on it. That easy. I am so proud that they are supporting these books and making it easy for anyone to have access to them. On this visit, I borrowed Jodi Picoult's book, Nineteen Minutes. I recommend you come visit and support this coffee/book shop in the VCU area. I definitely recommend it and plan to visit often.

I needed a place to work in the AC and went to Abi's Books and Brews and couldn't have been happier with the experience! Luck was on my side as I found street parking right in front of the shop. This place is a dream for anyone looking to get some work done. They've thoughtfully labeled each outlet, making it ideal for co-working. No more searching aimlessly for a spot to plug in--what a relief! I tried the chocolate croissant and americano, and both were fantastic. The croissant was flaky and delicious, and the americano provided just the right boost. The staff was incredibly kind and made the visit even more special by treating my maltipoo, Printz, to a pup cup!

Abi's Books & Brews is probably my favorite spot in the Richmond area. This newly opened bookstore and cafe is cozy and oh-so-lovely. I especially love their 'Banned Books' case - thank you for having this! The owner and staff here are amazing, welcoming, and friendly. Comfortable seating, and such a great space to enjoy a cup of coffee, read a good book, and/or do some work. Plenty of street parking in the area, and located near VCU. +they have Banned Books! +friendly staff +plenty of street parking

Currently sitting at Abi's Books & Brews as I write this and I'm in heaven. The feminine urge to open a coffee shop that is also a bookstore comes alive at this cozy cafe. It's a Friday morning and it's packed. Every seat is filled with a mix of students typing away on laptops and friends catching up. I love the natural lighting that pools into the space and the charming bricked walls. Aesthetic is great here. There is a bookshelf filled with used books for purchase. It's a bit harder to access with all the people sitting in front of it, but you can easily say excuse me to peruse the books. It's really cool that they have special floating bookshelves with banned books in them. Although it is packed, it is spacious enough to not feel suffocating. I ordered a cherry bourbon pastry from Up All Night. I adored it. They offered to warm it up for me which I love. The filling was incredible. I also got their Lavender Lit Latte which is so yummy. It was really kind that they checked to confirm that it's ok that it isn't caffeinated. My friend ordered a Lavender Latte and liked it. We agreed my drink was the best of the two. I'm really enjoying this coffee shop and can't wait to return and play some cards or read a book here.

Cute bookstore trying to provide a space for the community. Has games has records has a little bit of everything.

Abi's is the spot! A quaint and beautifully decorated book & coffee place in the Fan. I typically come for matcha lattes and their Matcha Miel summer special is wonderful. The staff is kind and the service is excellent. I hope they expand in the future :) Support local business!

Books and Brews was an awesome find near the VCU campus. The atmosphere is everything you want from a cozy coffee shop where you can spend the afternoon lost in a book. Everyone working was super nice and helpful, with baristas who were knowledgeable on the menu and able to make well informed recommendations. The coffee itself was affordable with everything at or under $6. The lavender latte I had was well balanced and not overly sweet.

It's a cute cozy coffee shop located on Cary street. The atmosphere was very "Richmond." You can drink coffee and study or play games. The drinks were okay.

I made it back to Abi's today and it was everything I expected. The service was speedy and friendly. The Ghirardelli-infused cold brew with Irish cream was amazing. What pairs better than books and coffee?

What a cute hidden gem! A book shop and a coffee shop in one. Grab your coffee, a baked good, and cozy up with a book. They even have a kids corner for littles. Service was wonderful and my croissant was delicious. I can't wait to go back. Parking was easy out front.

What a cute and cozy little coffee shop and bookstore. I met a friend for coffee this weekend, and was excited to try one of their specialty drinks. I ordered the Cupid's Latte, but it came with strawberry syrup (they were out of raspberry syrup). I also had to grab a yummy chocolate croissant from Up All Night Bakery. I've never been in a shop like this, with walls filled with books that you can either read during your visit, or buy to take home. If you're looking for a different kind of coffee shop, you should definitely stop in.

Was pleasantly surprised driving to the gym this morning to see Abi's was open! Stopped in afterwards and its very inviting and cozy. The girl working the front was extremely nice and the overall vibe was great inside. I'm happy another coffee shop with a unique spin is in Richmond and look forward to coming back!

They even have a decent number of CDs although they are priced higher than many Goodwills. Staff seems to be all volunteer. He also understood how some other volunteers might improperly categorize things and where to optimally try to look. He could tell that I had a sense of the different array of things in the store too. I was a bit surprised when he told me that he was here only part time. He was trying to see if he could give me a discount as he could tell I a bit surprised about the CD price. Even told me if I got one more CD or DVD that it would be $1 more. However, it was near closing and I just kept the purchase I had decided on. Two of the three CDs I got turned out not to be a win for me. Lol that is how it goes. He told me he worked here part time. He may've assumed I would come back here regularly. That person can feel free to reach out via private message if he was looking to build something more outside of the store. He was staying professional- and I was starting to get tired from a long trip and didn't want to hold him up from near closing time. He noticed my unique choose your own adventure shirt (with quality choices on the back) stuck out to him as did several other people in public.
