The other day I had to bring my dog Hachi in because he was very sick and I had no idea what was going on. the staff let me make a appointment early because he had been sick for days and I was afraid I was going to lose him. Dr. Barnes took his time and drew some blood and made a diagnosis and sent me home with a prescription for my Boy and within six hours he was looking and moving so much better. I can't thank him enough. He has been my vet for years he has treated three different dogs of mine. And always been very trustworthy and friendly to me and my dogs. He explains all that needs to be done sometimes more than my pea brain can understand I just shake my head like I understand. Not!.. He is very knowledgeable and diagnosed some things going on with our Havanese Bella that our vet of 10 years never even paid attention to. He strives to make his costs reasonable and he is very nice and down to earth. He recommended a supplement that is really helping her, not something that he sold and was trying to make a profit on. And he was very helpful in helping us find lower cost alternatives for a pain med she needs. It's only going to run us ~$10/month vs $50 going through our old vet. We have going to see Dr.Barnes for well over 20+ years. He has taken care every pet of ours as if they were his own. Dr barnes is an outstanding vet and human being. His love and compassion care of all his clients goes way beyond measure. His expertise is beyond measure. I feel like whenever we are at his office we are at home and there a confidence that our fur children are in the greatest of care. All of his techs are very professional and compassionate and kind from the second you walk into his office. Dr barnes has excellent file system and always knows exactly what your pet meds are and explains all results of any test he runs on your pet. All appointments are met with a smile by dr barnes it just makes your day to see his smile. Dr barnes is part of our family after all these years. While I understand the shock of seeing a puppy drop off a table, it's inevitable that things like that occur when dealing with animals and for that matter, just being human. I have no doubt Dr. Barnes did the right thing regarding the puppy after you left. I have been going to Dr. Barnes with multiple pets over many, many years. I have never known a more generous and caring veterinarian. He really tries to save people money as much as he can, sometimes by using human treatments for minor ailments (think:pepto for an upset stomach). Anyway, if you had a sour experience with Barnes' service, it's unfortunate and rare. I have nothing but good things to say about his practice and suggest his services to anyone I know who is on the hunt for a good vet. Of course, like any business it has to make money. Owning animals can cost a lot and you're paying for the expertise. While the exam could've cost less, it's the price of doing business. I can guarantee that as a long-time patron of his services that Dr. Barnes and his staff always try and save me money where they can and have sometimes really helped me out when money was tight years back and I had a very sick dog. Warning: My puppy and had a negative experience with Barnes Veterinary and I wrote an online review with 1 star, which Barnes quickly deleted. I had relied on the 5 star reviews when choosing this vet in the first place and now I know that the reviews are not balanced since anything that is not 5 stars has been deleted by Barnes. Dishonesty, missed an ear infection, lack of care and compassion and no curbside drop off requirement for Covid-19 were some of my concerns with this clinic. I won't be back. Dr. Barnes has taken care of our dogs and cats for years. EVERYTIME, he considers the best way to care for our pets. He starts at the simplest thing first and doesn't jump to the standard most expensive way. He uses the least "intrusive" methods to keep the care of the pet first. Dr Barnes and his staff are great people who know their profession. We have been taking our cats here for 4 years. We have lived in the neighborhood for 13 and I wish we would have come to him sooner. Dr. Barnes is engaging and cares about what is best for every animal that walks through his door. We were having some issues with one of our cats in January and Dr. Barnes called us, at 7pm-after office hours, to let us know about some other information he had found. Though it ended in bad news he and his office were empathetic and kind. I would highly recommend him to anyone with pets that they treat like family! read more

We have had Dr. Barnes as our vet for many years. He has always been wonderful with our pets. (2 cats and 2 dogs) Recently we had a beloved pet who became very ill after being with us for ten years. We brought him to Dr. Barnes who took great care of him and gave us several options regarding his care. After much consideration, we chose to bring him home and care for him. Sisco passed away quietly at our home. Dr. Barnes and his staff were very supportive and compassionate during this time. Dr. Barnes called us at home daily and over the weekend to see how Sisco was and offering to help us any way he could. I believe they did everything they could to help us during this time of need. We also received sympathy cards from him and his staff. I would recommend Barnes Veterinary to anyone who wants a vet who truly cares for the health of your pets and you. read more

I have been working with Dr. Barnes for approximately 15 years, as I have moved through a variety of pets - dogs only. He takes the time to explain everything (pros and cons of all potential options), seems to love all my dogs unconditionally (even the bad ones), and...best of all...he understands the value of MY dollar. I have faced a variety of issues in the last 15 years, and Dr. Barnes is more than happy to start with the least invasive and least expensive option, and work his way up. And the cheaper, least awful options generally work out. He does not push for expensive imaging and testing unless it is truly, absolutely necessary. Granted, I have not had to deal with chronic issues (yet, knock on wood) - just day to day shenanigans with rambunctious unruly dogs, but Dr. Barnes would rather start small and save us all from potentially unnecessary expenses and treatment. For example, I dealt with a tummy trouble issue with one pet (ate something not meant for puppy consumption) - Dr. Barnes started with a steroid pill (not xrays, lab work, etc. - though explained the risks and benefits of all), and the problem resolved almost instantly. The exact same issue arose a few years later with another pet, but Barnes was closed. We tried a local emergency vet, and their first recommendation was EXPLORATORY SURGERY! WTF? I countered with starting with a steroid and finally relented to a few hours of IV fluids. Voila - the steroid fixed the issue. My dogs do NOT love the vet, until Dr. Barnes completes his exam and starts doling out treats. I don't need the treats (though he gives you the bag anyway); Dr. Barnes' bedside manner and honest appreciation of all my little monsters is more than enough to keep me coming back. read more

I first went to Barnes Veterinary Services in January, 2018 because my dog was limping. I saw Dr. Rooks and was very happy with the way she took care of my dog. We went back again in October because he was having some neck pain. Dr. Rooks put him on medication and that seemed to clear it up. We went back again in April, 2019 because he had a lump near the site that he had a mast cell tumor in 2017. Turned out the lump was benign follicle tumor. My dog is a screamer. He screams in anticipation of something happening. There is not one indication in any of the notes that he attempted to bite anyone - he NEVER has. Suddenly when I called to make an appointment for shots, I was told he's aggressive and a biter and that he bit a technician (never, ever happened) and they will muzzle him or I can find a different vet. I have never had my dog treated so callously or unfairly. Thank goodness I found a caring, patient vet that my dog just loves. I would NEVER recommend Barnes Veterinary Services to anyone. read more

Dr. Barnes & his staff are wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about them. They truly care about every animal that comes in their doors. Dr. Barnes is straight forward about what he feels is best for your pet based on his years of experience & his understanding of the love you have for your pet they love animals & puts them first! His office is more like a pediatrician's office; they understand our pets are family. Dr. Barnes has gotten on the floor with my dog to examine him; he has helped me over the phone with suggestions on behavioral issues. He saw my cat in an emergency situation saving him. My dog was stolen & was brought to his office to be chipped Dr. Barnes & his staff acted quickly & cared about my dog as if he was each one of theirs. Dr. Barnes may of lost a customer because he choose to do what was right (getting my dog home to us) I believe they were almost as happy to have him returned as we are. His care is top notch, his ethics are the highest, and he expects the same from his staff.
