This place has quickly become one of my happy places. Beautiful Texas country setting. Wear your boots, pet the horses, listen to some music and RELAX! The staff is friendly and helpful. They allow kids sometimes in the middle of the day but the evening events are mostly 21 and over it seems. Both times I've been, there has been a food truck. Just a really great venue. this is a superb concert venue. We thoroughly enjoyed Fleetwood X covering the Fleetwood Mac songbook. It was a 70 degree night with wind, about 200 people attended that left plenty of room on the lawn within sight of the stage. Easy easy to park. when we got tired of the wind, we went inside the barn, which has a lot of tables and stools. large doors on the barn open to the outside performance stage. There is also a performance stage inside the barn and lots of restrooms. oh and did I mention the wine? And the food trucks? easy to get to from Dallas on highway 75 which merges right into 121. read more

Finally made our first visit to Barnhill Farm for the Willie Nelson tribute and fireworks. Love the small town vibe in a beautiful setting with horses and small vineyard. Lots of potential to be a regular spot for the weekend calendar! May give it another try when the weather is cooler. Price was a bit steep at $60 for two of us. They only serve wine and a few sodas. One BBQ food truck with a few limited offerings. No beer. You can bring your own cooler of non alcohol beverages. The ice I had came in handy as it was crazy hot (obviously). A couple of large fans in the barn and none outside. It would be nice to have some misting fans for folks outside. Music was fair. Lots of sound issues. But that happens with live music. Overall the fireworks were the best part of the evening. Admittance $25 plus fees per person. Wine $13 single Sodas? Food $12-20 al carte or plate. Beautiful setting. Bring camp chair or blanket to sit on. 3 stars for the potential to be awesome. We love to support small business so I am excited for the future of Barnhill! read more

Barnhill Vineyards is a beautiful venue for a relaxing time. Think of it as going to an amazing backyard party with live entertainment. The barn looks brand new and is very welcoming, and there are plenty of bathrooms. It is a family-run business, and they make you feel like you're an invited guest. I highly suggest you bring your lawn chairs or blankets and chill in their well-groomed and massive yard to enjoy a show. My wife and I were there on 6-21-24 and saw the Heart cover band Even It Up, and they were awesome! They had a food truck partner that served pizza, and even though I didn't have any of it on this trip, many folks around us did. it looked great, and I didn't hear any negative comments. My wife said their wine was delicious so I would suggest having some. It's really great for a date night, to hear a band, or just to get out of the city and relax in a beautiful country setting for a few hours. read more

I read about Barnhill on a FB ad where they mentioned outdoor weekend concerts (with tribute bands) that were socially distant in a beautiful scenic setting. In this age of Covid19 and being housebound for the last 7 months it sounded really great! Even though they are over 3 hours away we decided to get tickets and have a little overnight away. Rules on their Facebook page, (and when buying the tickets) seems straight forward enough. Bring your own chairs, coolers with waters and snacks okay but no meals or alcohol to be brought in. You buy a bottle of wine from them and they have a food truck on site. Stay within acceptable social distance from other people when laying down your blanket and chairs, wear your mask, the usual rules. The positives: It IS an absolutely beautiful setting with giant barn, beautiful green pastures full of horses and a nice lawn area to sit in. Their stage for the music and sound system is great. Their wine is somewhat pricey but comparable for most wineries. Plan to spend $28 to $40 for a bottle. Food truck on site. The couple that owns and has designed this winery and music venue are very friendly and seem like very nice people. If this were not the age of Covid-19 I would be giving five stars right now. (We had a fun evening) On to the Negatives: From the moment we parked and saw lots of people getting out of their cars and walking towards the main entrance, something seemed different. No one was wearing masks or holding them and no one was trying to keep socially distant. We noticed the same thing once we had set up our blanket and chairs and people started setting up very close to us with their own chairs and wearing no masks. In the winery no one wore masks in the line or kept any kind of social distance and none of the winery employees were wearing masks. It almost seems to have a secret reputation as a gathering spot for anti-maskers. No one enforced any rules of any kind. People brought in giant coolers full of all kinds of picnic items and their own bottles of wine. Would have saved us some money and been nice to know! There was a huge fire pit where lots of people gathered around to roast marshmallows and with very close proximity (and again, no masks) and during the second half of the concert there were a lot of dancers in front of the stage. Bottom line:. It's a beautiful place to go, you will hear some fun music but if you are someone who normally follows the mask protocol during covid-19, I would suggest picking a spot way at the back of the lawn to be a bit more distanced from other people and not going inside to buy wine if you're wary. read more

Full disclosure. I am writing this review solely based on their customer service and marketing practices, not on their wines. I have been wanting to visit them for some time now. I live really close to them and I have been a wine enthusiast for pretty much my entire life...being of Argentine decent and having been around the delicious drink since I was little. I was born and raised in Southern California and have been going to and enjoying the finest wines California has to offer...from Temecula all the way up to Amador and everything in between; Paso Robles, Napa..etc. I lived close enough to Temecula's wine country to go at least once a month and my wife and I have had memberships at too many wineries to count. I'd have 3 or 4 at any given time and would switch out 2 of them every couple years just to try others out. Another couple we'd go with would also have memberships at other wineries so sometimes we'd hit 3 or 4 in one day. I have also been to Northern Arizona and have tried many wineries there on the foothills of the Mingus mountain and I am also an amateur winemaker and have studied viticulture. The reason why I mention all this is that in all the decades I have been going to wineries I have never been charged a fee or had to buy tickets to see whatever cover band was playing at a winery. Without exaggerating I have been to hundreds of wineries and this is a first for me. So, naturally I first messaged them asking if they ever have just the tasting room open without having to pay a cover price to get in. Someone did respond to me that yes they are open on Saturdays but did not address the cover price portion. That would've been fine but then I go on to their Facebook page and see that all the events listed there you have to go onto eventbrite to buy tickets. These are cover bands and they're charging $25! So I commented as to why they have to charge to see cover bands and I got a reply. Before I could read the reply they removed comment and removed my comment as well so no one else could see. And that is what prompted me to write this review. That, to me is bad PR. Many wineries have stages...some very nice complete with a great PA and lighting, and yet they do not charge a cover. Reason being is they get these bands to draw crowds and they see an lift in their revenue and that pays for the band. I have never been to a winery that charges to see a cover band. I, for one, will not pay. There are plenty of other wineries nearby that have people performing and do not charge. I wont mention names to not discredit or tarnish this review but there is a small winery near BarnHill that I go to where I am treated like family. They have solid wines, live music and do not charge. There are also many tasting rooms in downtown McKinney but if you want the full experience there are some others around; one in Providence, one going east on the 380 and a few others. Then, of course, there is also Fredericksburg. My feedback to the management of BarnHill: Don't try and silence your clients. If you get feedback, take it. Criticism, when done respectfully, goes a long way in terms of being able to grow your business. You are here for your clients, not the other way around. And in this day and age you cannot silence your clients. You took me down on one platform and I went to another. All I did was respectfully make Don't charge a cover fee for your clients to come to your business and them consume more and spend more. Some may not care but then there are those like me who on principal alone will not give you business. $25 is nothing to me. I generally walk out with 2 to 300 worth of wines every time I visit a winery unless they're no good. If your product is it will sell itself. You don't need to charge admission to your winery. If you're trying to stave off freeloaders than offer to refund door charge with purchase of...let's say, 100 bucks or more. That would be fair. But I doubt you get very many freeloaders. Maybe try expanding your wineries' hours. You'd be surprised how many business professionals would stop in for a pour or 3 on their way home from the office or during lunch. The most successful wineries in Temecula were open 6-7 days a week and some would be open until really late on weekends. read more

A beautiful facility in a beautiful setting, Barn Hill is a great place to spend an evening with friends and/or that special someone, drink some good wine, have a bite to eat, take in some good music, and just enjoy life. I've had the pleasure of visiting twice with my girlfriend, who discovered it via a friend of hers. First time was in late September on a perfect evening, outdoors, with a Genesis/Phil Collins/Journey cover band, a nice fire, and a delicious s'mores to cap off a nice catered meal. It was peaceful, festive, and a great time was had by all. We sampled a couple of different wines, and thanks to ride sharing, we were able to indulge to our hearts' content. Our next visit was on a chilly January evening, this time within the warm confines of the barn, with the band playing on the indoor stage, and a lively crowd enjoying wine, pizzas baked onsite by a hired caterer, and "bring your own snacks" (something we'll have to do next time). Again, the venue and setting were awesome, everyone was having a great time, and the music (this time, Fleetwood X, a great local Fleetwood Mac cover band) was just right. This place has become a favorite of ours, and we'll be back regularly for more good times. Bring your significant other, your friends, or both! read more

The service at Barnhill was excellent, and the facility was nice. Shameless was Amazing. I will mention my only drawback was the food truck - the people helping you were nice, but the food was not. For $16.00, you got two sliders with little to no meat, which was pulled pork or brisket, it was covered with shredded cheese. My friend Renee and I made our first trip to Barn Hill Vineyards last night, to check out this venue I had read about, and which had received such positive reviews. While it is only a 50-minute drive from my place in the White Rock Lake area of east Dallas (depending on traffic), it feels 1,000,000 miles out of the city, and you feel your body relax as you head towards the destination, which is just 14 miles northeast of McKinney, nearest to the tiny town of Anna, Texas. Besides being a working vineyard, the focal point of the property is the large rustic barn and terrace that houses a great variety of different musical acts and tribute bands in a cozy, casual, wood-hewn setting that already makes you feel welcome. Connected to the main barn showroom is a covered open air patio overlooking a sloping hill with two fire pits where you can purchase the fixin's to make your own's smoore's, a throwback to your childhood (for me, it took me back to my time as a Boy Scout). Further up the sloping hill is a line of trees all strung with lights, that are beautiful to look at, and do not overshadow the intimate fire pit areas. People are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs or blankets to enjoy the grassy slope and to sit around the fire pits. Now on to the show! We had chosen an evening when the tribute band was performing covers of Journey and Genesis/Phil Collins songs. A very talented group of musicians that sounded great and encouraged interaction from the audience (like they could stop us from singing along haha). Dancing is also encouraged, either in the open area in front of the band, in the peripheral areas around the room or even just at your own table. Food and beverage options: There is wine available by the glass or by the bottle, in several different varieties and bottled water is also available for purchase. As a bonus, every ticket holder gets to take home a lovely wine glass bearing the vineyard's name, so if you visit often enough, you can collect a whole set to use at home! There is always a rotating food truck where you can purchase a bite (last night it was BBQ with your choice of delicious brisket or pulled pork tacos, with a side of BBQ baked beans. On other nights I have read that the food truck was offering pizza. If you feel like BYOB/F, you can bring a cooler with non-alcoholic beverages only (water/soft drinks) and snacks (no full meals). It's all open seating, so depending on how many of you there are, you could take up your own table or like Renee and I, we ended up at a communal table with two other very nice couples that we got to meet and chat with. I had the opportunity to meet and briefly talk with Dean the owner, who along with his wife Joy and his top-notch staff run a great venue, where you are guaranteed a good time, in a beautiful and unique setting. We got there after the sun had set, but the gates open early, so if you get there before the show and it's still daylight, they also have a couple of horses and a couple of donkeys that you can pet, which some city folk may never have had the opportunity to do. Thank you Dean and company, for providing a fantastic place to spend an evening hearing great music, drinking delicious wine, and meeting new people. Beware if you get a ticket ahead of time and it rains or is cold outside. It will mot be the same experience if they decide to move the event inside. We had a group going and reserved the fire pit, which is really fun and relaxing. Instead of a fun evening, I wanted to ask for my money back, but there are no refunds. We received lots of reminder emails, but didn't get notified that they changed the concert that evening to inside the barn. We were extremely unhappy. 1) We were dressed to sit in cold weather, 2) We had dragged blankets and chairs with us, 3) We couldn't talk to each other without literally screaming across the table. This was the worst part. It was so uncomfortable. I wasn't expecting to need earplugs. I was planning on a nice evening with friends sipping wine; instead, I endured a loud rock concert instead of having background music. If you go to this venue, go only in the spring or early fall when it's for certain going to be outdoors. Get your ticket late to see if weather changes. I feel you should be able to cancel your ticket if they move it indoors because they can cancel an event at their whim or change the setting on you. read more
