From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the host and seated right away. The service was genuinely excellent-our server was kind, attentive, and even took a moment to interact with our toddler. We noticed several other families there with young kids, so this is definitely a kid-friendly spot. When we first arrived for dinner, the restaurant was pretty empty and we weren't sure what to expect but don't let that fool you, it's no reflection of the experience or quality. The drinks were amazing and the food did not disappoint. The shrimp and grits were incredibly flavorful, the loaded tots were absolutely delicious and my husband's salad was fresh and crisp. I love that this Lockwood is right in downtown McKinney. This was my husband and I's second time and it did not disappoint. We sat at the bar and grabbed a drink for happy hour and a burger as well. I went with the bourbon margarita which was frozen and unlike anything I've had before and it was delicious. My husband had the old fashioned which is always tasty. The happy hour smash burger price is unbeatable at $6 and it was enough for us to share as we only wanted a snack. They even cut it in half for us and put it on two plates which was so nice! Visited on Tuesday for one of their draft old fashioneds (better than any old fashioned in town, quality and price) and stayed for bingo. Jade was an amazing bartender but is killing it as a manager. She is making the restaurant fun! We ended up ordering dinner as the bingo hour got late. I got the smash burger. Nothing to write home about, but it was good. It comes with Mrs. Vickie's chips. Not the most impressive side for the cost of the burger, but you can substitute any side at an upcharge. My husband loved the chicken tenders. He raved about the jalapeno ranch and Lockwood house sauce. His meal came with choice of side, he chose tots. I love their tots (as previously mentioned). This location needs more merchandise to buy...more variety of tshirts. We see staff wearing "Your mom goes to Lockwood" and we want that! They need to bring back the frozen bourbon margarita!! We ate at Lockwood Distillery in downtown McKinney on a Sunday afternoon and it was such a great experience from start to finish. Our server, Jade, was incredibly kind and attentive, which set the tone right away. We ordered from the French menu and everything came out warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I had the Caesar salad with sautéed shrimp perfectly balanced and not overbearing at all. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, and the pickled onions were the perfect touch that elevated the whole salad. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits and WOW truly amazing. The flavors were spot on, and it's easily one of the best shrimp and grits he's had. Our daughter had the chicken tenders with tots, and I was genuinely impressed. The portions were generous for a kids' meal, the tots were a hit, and the chicken tenders were clearly real chicken breast not skimpy or overly fried. Everything tasted very homemade and thoughtfully prepared. To top it all off, they had Santa outside, which made it such a fun and memorable experience for our daughter. It was the perfect day to stop in for lunch or dinner. We didn't personally try the drinks this time, but from what we saw, their cocktail menu looked fantastic and we'll definitely be back to try them. My wife had the potato salad and said it was excellent although a bit spicy for her (kinda like me husband of 43 years) but I digress. Anyway they do have wine if you are so inclined however I recommend picking one of the many cocktails to wet your whistle! We went on a Saturday at lunch and it wasn't busy. (Red flag). Didn't try the alcohol only food. Wife ordered sliders as her meal and I had Southern fried chicken sandwich and asked for the Dirty South Tots as appetizer. Took a while for the food and they brought out the entrees first. She said they was an issue with the tots. I assumed she forgot to put the order in but not the case. When the tots arrived a few minutes after entree they were just barely warm. They were supposed to have pimento cheese, sour cream and hot sauce. They cheese was so watered down it just pooled on the bottom of the bowl and didn't taste like cheese. There was a slight drizzle of sour cream (less than a teaspoon). Same with the hot sauce. The chicken sandwich was so bland the only thing I could taste was the pickles. My wife's sliders were very tasty though. With 2 can cokes the total was $45. Could've had a better meal at hooters for much less. read more
