Each month, Heritage Programs offers scheduled tours of unique sites of local or regional interest. Heritage Programs is comprised entirely of volunteer docents who have been presenting for over 25 years. These folks are perhaps the most knowledgeable people at Cincinnati Museum Center. Honestly, they may be most knowledgeable people in the entire city of Cincinnati! I've attended several tours and lectures, and all of them have been amazing. Tours range from one hour to 3 hours to an all-day affair. I suggest taking the longer tours, as the docents have so many stories to share it's hard to cover everything in one hour. The following I have attended and thoroughly enjoyed: - Behind The Scenes at Union Terminal: climbed the "high steel" architecture above the Rotunda and viewed the working gears of the giant clock; viewed the Omnimax projection room; learned about engineering and upkeep of the Museum Center; saw the historical rail yards; talked with the Historical Library preservationist and viewed rare documents in the collection... and much more! - Subway Tour: Went INSIDE Cincinnati's subway system that was abandoned in 1928. This was preceded by a presentation with old construction photographs and storytelling. (Learn more about the subway here: http://www.thecincinnatisubway.com) - Union Terminal Rotunda Tour: Learned about the construction, architecture and art of the landmark, viewed the President's office and Rookwood Tea Room. (This takes place every weekend at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 and is FREE.) There are dozens more tours listed on their website. Their passion makes the tours very entertaining: you're guaranteed to be smiling, laughing, and asking questions throughout. Heritage Programs tours and presentations are great for all ages, including children 10 & up. I see a lot of grandparents and grandchildren as well as parents with adult children having fun on the tours. Generally, guests tend to be 40-somethings or retirees, but as a younger adult, I think couples my age would be intrigued with the programs. Pricing for Heritage Programs tours varies from $25.00 to $80.00 (pricier tours include lunch and bus service.) Some tours and most lectures are free. A free streetcar between Findlay Market and the river via Washington Park and downtown…read more The Connector is a free accessible streetcar on a 18-stop line north and south through Cincinnati's OTR district. We hopped on at a stop on Elm Street in view of the west end of Findlay Market (May 2026). The stop had a ramp at both ends up to the level of the streetcar, and a small 3-sided shelter and bench. Inside the brightly-decorated clean car there were accessible spaces at the center doors, with about 40 seats overall and room for about 100-more standing. The seats were hard but comfortable. The car was clean and bright. The streetcars were not at all crowded midday on a weekday. Through end-to-end windows, we enjoyed seeing a number of the hundreds of colorful creative murals of all sorts that decorate the city. We rode the whole 3.6-mile circuit, past various clusters of restaurants, stores, groceries, and offices. At the south end, the stop also had a small 3-sided shelter and bench, and had no need for ramps. We took a stroll less than ten minutes to a row of swings that overlook the river! Cool! Then back up to walk around the green-spaces and playgrounds of Washington Park in west-OTR. The park stop had ramps and a small bench, but no shelter. We waited under nearby trees for a little shade. We ended our tour at Jane's bar back at Findlay Market, just past that streetcar stop. All the way, we used a transit app which did a good job of showing the location of the four-or-five streetcars, with accurate arrival-times at the stops where we waited. This was a great air-conditioned no-cost way to get around and see some of the sights of these parts of Cincinnati :-)

Butler County Visitor's Bureau created the Butler County Donut Trail and it's what got my friend…read moreand I to drive 4 hours down from Cleveland! With the donut trail you drive around the county to like a dozen donut places, buy something, get a stamp, and once your passport is complete you get a donut themed t-shirt! This is a fun way to get people to explore your county. We were not in town long, but besides donuts we sampled wine at Hanover Winery, beer at Municipal Brew Works, and got some BBQ at Rivertown Restaurant and Brewery. We also used Airbnb to say at an old Victorian house in Hamilton run by a little old lady. Also good to note that when I emailed the visitor's bureau with a question I did not have to wait long for a response. I think it's really great when people care about their community, want to see it thrive, and want to share it with the world. I am docking one star because I think it's silly to promote the trail but then be closed on weekends. I imagine lots of visitors use weekends to travel and explore places instead of using up work days. With the bureau being closed we had to drop off our completed donut passports and wait a week to get our shirts in the mail. Makes more sense to just get them while in town, plus I was disappointed we couldn't wear the shirt while visiting. Maybe have some shirts available at the donut shops?

I love Cincinnati and our Craft Beer Scene so having the opportunity to take a tour bus to four of Cincinnati's finest craft breweries in style with 14 fellow Yelper's on a Saturday afternoon I'm all in and ready to enjoy! Ben our driver started the company with his sister and brother in law after taking similar tours in Chicago and Denver. The tours begin at Halfcut in OTR, Dan greets the group inside and welcomes you on to the bus where you find your wristband and cup. Our first stop was Rhinegeist, who just celebrated their one year anniversary in June and are growing like crazy, we were told they now have 35 employees on our tour of the brewery. When we arrived there was a table reserved for our group and 3 pitchers of their beer ready for us to try - Truth, their IPA; Cougar, Blonde Ale; Fiction, Belgian Extra Pale ale, which I felt was the best of the 3. Our second stop was Listermann's right on the Cincinnati/Norwood border, Listermann's started as the place in Cincinnati for home brewing - they have classes, all of the supplies you need for your home brew and in 2007 started their own brewery Triple Digit Brewing company, known for Chickow and Listermann brews smaller batches of their own beer available right in the tasting room. They have a very refreshing hefeweizen on tap right now made with Beets, great on a warm summer day. They were in the middle of brewing some beer while we were there, so the brewery was hot. Our third stop on the tour was MadTree, which was the busiest of the four breweries we visited. We had Psychopathy, their IPA (one of the best around in my opinion), Lift, their Kolsch and a special Peach beer Tiamat. The fourth stop on the tour was 50 West Brewing company, we had Wire to Wire Wheat, which they made for the Cincinnati Reds, Coffee Please Stout (wow lots of coffee) and Tripa, a Belgian Triple - my fave of the 3 Then we returned back to OTR and Halfcut, with your wristband you can have $2 off pint at Half cut Note they have coolers on the bus if you want to purchase a growler during one of the stops and bring it back with you on your journey home. The four hours flew by and the bus is just the right size 14 seats total if you want to get a group of friends, co-workers together, its $55 per person including the beer & they had some snacks & water on the bus. Great value and you're able to visit and try a wide variety of Cincinnati's Craft Breweries on the Craft Connection Tour!

We met and ended at Halfcut, it was my first time there and I'm so glad I got to try it out! The breweries we visited were a mix of favorites I had been to and ones that were new to me. They have all only been around for a few years- in fact 50 West, Madtree, and Rhinegeist all are less than two years old! What am awesome testament to the brewery explosion in Cincinnati. Rhinegeist is a fav of mine. I love their space and every beer from them that I've tried. They are a huge example of an entrepreneurial spirit and was a perfect first spot! Next we went to Listermann's. I wasn't very familiar with their beer but our driver Ben told us that they have a reputation for basically brewing whatever they want. This was true as we heard about beer aging in Pappy Van Winkle barrels, tried a peanut butter porter and even a beet beer! I was really impressed with their hospitality- the owner's son was the one showing us behind the scenes. Madtree was the next stop. I don't usually like their beer but I actually found one I like! We wrapped up the tour at 50 West, an old favorite. A great thing about these breweries is that they all have public tap rooms, so anyone can go try their beer. A great thing about being on the tour was that at every location, we had a reserved table with pitchers of beer already set out for us. Often we got to bypass a line for beer, and we always had the option to go behind the scenes for a tour. It was a great afternoon! The bill cycles are crazy, there is no true month to month if you plan on stay a full year. You will pay your first month of winter on your last month of summer and then have to pay in advance another month for the following summer. The owners can be very direct and rude at times not to mention they dont follow the rules about going the wrong direction on the roads but will jump your ass if you do.
