Their sandwiches are my fav grocery store ones. They taste fresh here. Good ingredients.

What a great place to shop. Organic foods and perfect parings of wines. Ambulance is like Disneyland. So fun! Go there and you will be surprised by the variety of foods. They bake their own bread and cookies. Yummy

    Organic vanillas in three brands.

They have organic milk in glass containers, organic whipping cream in glass container, and organic half and half in glass containers. The organic chai tea concentrate regular price is over $3 cheaper here than Albertsons' regular price. The vanillas are higher quality and cheaper here than Albertsons. I like they have a larger selection of middle eastern ingredients and middle eastern spices than Albertsons. I like the self-service fresh orange juice crush/press machine, it's clear so you can see the oranges being crushed whole.

Finally a great grocery store in Alpine!

The salad bar today looked like it had been attacked by pack of angry birds...and the kale looked like it needed a peaceful burial...

Prices are high, about the same as Albertsons, but the store carries very fresh items.

I've heard a lot about Barons and their amazing salad bar. I dont have a Barons near me, but will be near the Alpine location this weekend and am just wondering how much the salad bar is? Thx

    I believe it's $7.99/lb...and it's worth every penny. I love Barrons.

Every Friday and Saturday, Taj opens his farm stand to the public, and it's here that you will find freshest, most delicious organic produce you've ever purchased in your life. My wife and I stop by every Saturday morning to see what Taj has, and we're always amazed at the selection, which changes from week to week depending on what's ready for harvest. Yesterday, for example, we bought broccoli, carrots, celery, lettuce, spring onions, and edible (!!) flowers. Then, Taj told us to wait a minute. He went out to his gardens and harvested some sugar snap peas for us right then and there. Oh. My. God. The sweetest, most delicious snap peas I've ever eaten. We of course bought some of those too. And that's the real beauty of going to the farm stand yourself instead of just doing a CSA box. You get to interact with Taj. He'll tell you what he loves best at the moment, and introduce you to some things you might not have otherwise tried (hello, black radish!). You'll also find fresh eggs (we have our own chickens so I don't need to buy those), lemons, and a variety of other produce. Whatever's fresh. Whatever's delicious. And if you need more of something, Taj is more than happy to go out in the garden and pick it for you. Extra bonus: the prices are very reasonable. The farm stand is currently open only on Friday from 2:30 to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Check the website for updates or give Taj a call.

Apparently everything is from local small farms around San Diego and possibly a few things owner made. A lot of items didn't have pricing which for me prevented me from buying more but I actually just went shopping elsewhere before stopping in so I would've bought more. The fruit and veggies are not all nice and shinny like at the grocery stores, these items look to be straight from a farm imo. Don't expect to find everything in perfect shape or that you don't have to look through the fruits or veggies and if you know, you know! Their items were a bit high but it's worth it when it comes to our struggling farmers!!! I'll buy more from them from here & out.

They consistently carry some of the best-quality produce currently available from San Diego and the surrounding areas, thoughtfully curated with real care. Misses are rare, and when something isn't right, they always make it right. What really sets this place apart is the knowledgeable team. They can tell you not just what something is, but where it's from, why it's special, and even how best to prepare it if it's new to you. They know which watermelon varietals are sweetest (and why), which tomatoes are best for different uses, and how to guide you toward the best choice of the day. We also appreciate the simplicity of the space. It's clear the focus is on quality produce rather than unnecessary overhead or décor that doesn't add to flavor or nutrition. We come in knowing our weekly staples, and we always look forward to discovering a surprise treat or seasonal treasure to add to the basket. We recently lived in Spain for a year and deeply miss the fruterías found on every corner, places that genuinely support daily health and well-being. In the U.S., truly good produce can be harder to find, with so much emphasis on mass production and appearance over flavor and nutrition. The Fruit Stand comes as close as we've found to that European produce experience. We're grateful this place exists and grateful for the care they put into what they offer. Thank you for being here--and we'll see you next week.

I get what I need, the prices are posted and very reasonable and if it's not posted all you have to do is ask. I get quality produce, great prices and they have what I need when I need it!!! I got a few veggies for juicing (some small green apples that are perfect for my juicer, cucumbers and celery). I got some great size jalapeños that I'm going to wrap and bacon but first put cream cheese inside keeping it keto with that one!! And bananas were very reasonable and a small head of cabbage I got plans for that later ;) all of today's goodies was $10.10. As compared to any other grocery store, I'm sure this was the better deal and I shopped local!!! The only downside is they are limited in the refrigerated section, there's no cream cheese and other stuff one might need, but it's stocked with various beverages, milk, local salsa, Mexican cheeses and a few other random things like butter and eggs.

I did end up buying a bunch of items and ordered a fruit bowl from the stand inside. There was a bit of miscommunication about how to order. The person in the booth told me to order with the cashier. Meanwhile, another customer received their item and paid at the front, so it was a little confusing. I rushed through the store so I could get the fruit bowl started. I ordered the small #3 fruit bowl, but unfortunately most of the fruit in my bowl wasn't very sweet. On the positive side, the produce section was well stocked and prices seemed competitive. If we are in the area we would stop by again.

Just before we got to the freeway, we saw a hand painted sign on the side of the road introducing "El Campito Farm." Thank god that I hit the brakes to investigate them further. Their setup was as simple as can be. The entire operation consisted of a farmer, a few tables covered in burlap, and a respectable display of the freshest, grown on-site, organic vegetables that I have ever seen. We were on our way home to make fish tacos, but all we had was fish and tortillas. We had no fresh ingredients! But that's where Phillip(the farmer) and El Campito Farm stepped in. We picked through their selection and took a bunch of FRESH veggies home to complete our shopping list. They offered up all of the following in the middle of October: multi-colored beets, baby gourmet lettuce, fresh cilantro, green onions, fancy crimson forest onions, trumpet mushrooms, yellow squash, green squash, spherical squash, butternut squash, yellow carrots, etc... It is impressive for any local farm to produce all of these veggies simultaneously, but especially during October. What makes them my new favorite place to get produce, is that they grow sustainable food. El Campito Farm is organic, and they take it a step further. They have a philosophy that demands total respect for the Earth, their harvest, and ultimately, the families that rely on their fields for food. Most important question...How is their produce? It is superior to anything that I have ever purchased in a store. We used their onions, squash, cilantro, and mushrooms to prepare dinner tonight. My wife had to go lay down and relax after dinner. Why? Because the food was so good, that she had eaten the entire massive portion of food that I served her. The veggies were crisp, and maintained their distinct flavors like they should. Excellent! Think about it. El Campito Farm is producing high quality, locally grown, organic food for the community to enjoy. They are providing local jobs. And they are protecting the land by not abusing it. They love what they are doing and it shows. I will be back very soon. Until then, we will tell everyone about what you are doing out in the mountains of San Diego.
