Shopped the big box and others before going back to Barra & Trumbore. All were within pennies of each other on price, but felt that I would do better dealing directly with a local business. It was a good decision. During the process both owners actively participated with one coming out to do the template and the other there for the install. I had 26 linear ft of countertop which had to make it's way down through a Bilco door in 3 separate sections. Fit was perfect and the one seam nearly invisible. They took care during templating to accommodate the door swing of a cabinet and notched it to fit. This would not have happened if I had gone big box. We had a great experience working with Martin and Katie when we were looking for granite counter tops for our kitchen remodel. From showing us around the different granite slabs in the yard to explaining the different finishes they took a real interest in educating us so that when we finally ordered the stone we were confident with what we were getting. Everything else was easy, from the templating through to the installation the service we got was terrific and they went out of their way to meet our tight deadlines so that we could be finished before Christmas. I've had a number of extraordinary projects done by Barra & Trumbore. Just this week they finished fabricating granite elements for a 40+ foot long path through our garden. The technology that they brought to bear on designing and fabricating these granite elements was extraordinary.
