I hired Scott Vermilling after the first contractor scammed me. I had not had a bathroom for over a…read moremonth. I only have the one bathroom in the house. They put sheetrock up he said to show me progress. Sheetrock then had to be removed for the plumber. He charged me twice for the plumber. Two thousand dollars for a small bathroom. He said for plumbing to be corrected it would be a day or two. Thing is, plumber has a regular day job so he came sporadically. I would say it took over a month for plumber to finish and that is not counting when I was away or the licensed plumber was away. So here I am with a daughter with special needs and he could care less. Then he told me he lost money because I hired my own electrician to do electrical which his guys had messed around with. He was going to charge me another $500 for the electrician but I am pretty sure he would come up with another excuse to charge more. He walked off the job on 5/10/23. Contract had been signed in March 2023. He wanted to charge me for another new subfloor which I had paid the previous contractor $4240 for instead of leveling the bathtub. I had two plumbers and building inspector tell me that of course the tub could be leveled and also that old homes seldom have level floors. So this is another example of him trying to get more money from me. The sheetrock put up was not even done right. So I asked for my money back since there was really no actual work done besides them messing around with stuff. I have no problem paying the plumber. He is the only one that did a good job, not timewise though. Scott said I needed to sign a paper promising not to bash him or his company in order to get my money back. Well, no one is going to take my voice away. No one is going to take my rights away like that. So here I am. Oh yeah, he wanted me to wait 30 days for a refund which meant I would have to wait another two months for a bathroom. Still waiting for my money. Contract was for $4500 for labor only because I had all the materials. Once again, he added $1000 for plumbing and then requested another check for $1000 and never gave me an addendum for it. Ceiling in bathroom had two small leaks. Don't know how holes got there. He charged me $2700 for a small area of my roof. Done with liberty rolls. I did it because I didn't want anything else to delay the renovation. Of course it was overcharged.

The biggest job I've hired him for so far was to brace/strengthen and refinish my deck. I had the decking replaced last year, but didn't get around to finishing it after it had seasoned. A year passed and the wood was starting to look dry and cracked. My little daughter couldn't go out barefoot anymore because she would get splinters every time. Kris gave me a competitive quote and made an excellent recommendation on a material to refinish and protect the decking. Now the deck looks brand new, it has a little bit of texture to provide traction if it's wet, no more splinters, and it's super easy to clean. It was an all-day job for Kris and two helpers, and I couldn't be happier. I appreciate that Kris is willing to do some little jobs too. I hired him to clean my gutters, and another time I hired him to do some repair work and repainting to part of the exterior of my house.
