The studio is always looking for ways to level up, whether it's introducing new formats such as Strength, Cardio, and Mindfulness - or recruiting and retaining awesome instructors ;). Their website shows "no membership", but that doesn't mean the membership is canceled! We were charged for months, 6 months! When we thought it was canceled a month in because I ended up being unable to use it. We contacted them and they went "sorry" and ignored our situation. From the awesome host to the energetic instructors who are all so well versed in creating flows that focus on strengthen the micro muscles of the body. I was a newbie to the pilates/barre world. And I am so grateful for the warm women empowerment that I've received from all the staff. My favorite classes to attend are the Strength classes w/ Tara & Helen & the Signature classes w/ both Erica's. As a 6'1 model , achieving my full length/& flexibility is very important to me. I am so grateful for the education that each instructor shares with me 1:1 sometimes during or after class. The playlist are always on point too! I try to go 2-3 times a week. If you are coming here for the first time, you may get lost with parking. It is congested in this area, and is easy to miss! If you park across the street in the Gables Tower garage, parking will cost you $6 after Barre class. Park in the garage, on the same side as Barre3, as they validate. I had class with Lauren and she has so much energy and is so nice! I came right on the clock due to the parking situation, and she was not rushing me at all. We did 35 minutes of aerobic exercise/warm up and WOW. HOW EXHAUSTING, BUT SO GOOD FOR YOUR BODY! Next up, mat work! Lauren's instructions and movements were fluid, nothing felt awkward or choppy at all. Everything was seamless, from check-in to cool-down. The facility itself is clean, floors are hardwood (NOT CARPET like some places), and the staff cleans everything after you are done with your equipment. read more

Oh man, I thought I was strong before coming here, but WOW barre kicked my butt. In a good way. The workout is really low impact but you'll do a ton of strengthening exercises with small movements. You don't need dance experience to do this - it's mostly a combination of yoga and Pilates. I think barre would be perfect for someone recovering from an injury, especially because they give modifications throughout class and it's not as intense as a vinyasa class. The instructor (Torre) was awesome, the staff were friendly, I liked the music, and I felt really relaxed and strong at the end of class. Definitely give this a try. I was fine doing the class barefoot (most people were barefoot). Next time I think I'm going to wear non-slip socks because I'm used to doing yoga poses only on a sticky mat and I felt like my feet were sliding across the floor for part of the class. Probably only an issue for me and my sweaty feet, though. read more

Well Barre3's trademark says it all "where ballet barre meets yoga and Pilates". In short it is a full body workout using a mat, barre, ball and light weights. They provide all the props, all you need to bring is a water bottle. Movements are small and controlled and you are encouraged to embrace the shake. I find their method is less harsh on the knee joints because they do fewer squats and lunges than some of the other studios. I always leave the studio with sore quads, triceps and abs. The free community classes are a great way to give Barre3 a try. When instructors are new they give free classes for a couple weeks so they can practice and improve and get feedback from their clients. While this is not my regular studio I have been to 8 other barre studios and this one does rank high in my book. read more

So many amazing things to say about Barre3. First of all I am not fit, I am about 20 pounds overweight & I have struggled trying to find something I enjoy to get in shape. I signed up for the 30$ new client special, seriously what did I have to lose? It's been a week and I have lost 3 pounds, I have a ton more energy, so much more flexibility and I am literally standing taller. The workouts are always different, each instructor has their own style! The variety is what keeps me coming back, and the fact that after only 3 classes in one week I am seeing results. I am thrilled to have found a workout that I like. I love the fact that so many different body types are welcomed here too. Great space, great staff, awesome music and it's in my building so I have no excuse not to go! If you are looking for a jump start to get in shape, take it from me this will do it! And you will you have fun doing it! Update 11/1/12: I have lost 25 pounds since I started Barre3, not really changing my diet much. Thank you Barre3, specifically Dixie up at the front desk and Kimberly who taught the class, for giving me a kick-ass workout this past Wednesday morning! The Barre3 Studio was easy to find and I love how friendly the staff is. It's clean and they have a fabulous little area for kiddos to play while mommies get their work-outs in. I've taken some other bar classes in my day, but this was my very first Barre3 class, and it was definitely a kick-ass workout! I loved that Kim combined some simple moves along with some more choreographed / advanced moves and always gave options. She was also really motivating in calling out people's names that were doing really well and helping correct form for those that needed it. It was fast-paced, which helped the hour go by super fast, and I got the feeling that every class is different, so your workout will never get boring. The other ladies in the class were super friendly as well. (This isn't always the case when I visit new studios unfortunately). It's several days later and I'm still a little sore; a great reminder of a powerful hour, indeed! I'll definitely return to Barre3 on future trips to Austin and may even try to check out some other B3 studios during upcoming travels as well. read more

Excellent studio! I was in Austin for 10 days and wanted to go to a couple exercise classes via ClassPass. I've been to barre3 in a few other cities and have always had positive experiences so was excited to try this one out. The classes themselves are challenging but positive and motivating. I went to classes with two instructors, Alison and Kimberly. Both were great. It's a low-impact full-body workout that focuses on toning, strength training, a little cardio. Both instructors demonstrated the exercises and offered modifications (both for people with injuries and for more advanced participants who wanted to make the exercises more challenging). If you're a beginner, just let the instructor know and they'll make sure you're set - don't be put off from signing up for a class if you're new to barre! The studio itself is clean and modern feeling. Front desk staff is nice. The first time you go, they'll have you fill out a short info sheet and waiver, so get there early if it's your first class. There's also a small play area for kids which is awesome. Make sure to take a water bottle! read more

I love this place! I've never been interested in exercise but I genuinely don't dread coming here (dare I say, I look forward to it?). Each instructor has been wonderful, and they know how to spice up the class. I love that they offer adjustments for every move and are very considerate of your individual needs. You can be any skill level and will enjoy while getting a good workout. It's also very clean and they have spare hair ties, water glasses and refills, a place to change, and loads of cubbies. If you work downtown or nearby this is perfect for you! There's a parking garage (park in the one on the same side of the studio at Gables Plaza), but just make sure to get the 2 hr validation slip on your way out from the studio. read more

I am a Class Pass user and my friend was going to barre3 one morn, so I signed up via the Class Pass app for the 6am class today. Upon arrival the instructor, Tara (sub for the class) was super friendly, checked me in no problem, and told us what equipment to grab for our class. She was so nice and created an environment that was judgement free, she also always recommended listening to your body and she would demonstrate alternates to the exercise without anyone having to ask. I love this location as it is the closest to us even though it still isn't really that close. I appreciate the free underground parking, the nice amenities (including a shower), and different cubby sizes. The staff is so friendly, even giving me a free class pass for Eric R. to come and try one (which he did, with the owner as the instructor). I have attended Tess's classes since she did the community free instructor class and I really like her classes! This is walking distance to the Whole Foods Headquarters too which is a great place to stop before or after barre3. read more

a fitness studio downtown, based on ballet, pilates and yoga? It sounded intimidating to me. My chubby legs were shaking as I walked in the door, but I am SO GLAD that I made it to a class. The studio is beautiful and has easy parking. They have childcare - how cool is that? There's a great diaper changing area in the bathroom and a shower for guest use. The staff is so warm, helpful and friendly. Barre3 provides all the equipment. Let's get down to the best part - the class! It felt familiar because of the mix of yoga but it is truly unique. The owners Kimberly and Tara were fantastic - good people who are passionate about what they do. They put me at ease, assisted with modifications, inspired everyone and we even compared momma notes, after class. Oh, and the shake is good - remember that when your butt and thighs are burning and twitching ; ) I have been in a rut since having a kiddo a cpl years ago. I wasn't sure what my body could do anymore and was down about my weight. This class helped me get unstuck mentally. I'll be back - I may not be the skinniest person in the class and i may modify left and right but I remembered last night that it feels good to sweat and you have to start where you are. I needed a workout to compliment my marathon training and I'm glad I chose Barre3. I decided to go with Barre workouts because they work a lot with the core and lower extremities. I was sick and tired with having injuries because of my running. For the workout, you used a small rubber ball and small weights. During the workout, don't worry if you start shaking holding a position. That's a good thing because that's part of the workout. After each workout session with them, I feel stronger. The studio is awesome with a shower and two bathrooms. There's also a baby changing area, daycare (you have to give 24 hour notice so they can provide a babysitter), water cooler where you can bring your own water bottle and fill it up. WARNING: This review is not by an exercise fanatic. You've got it. I saw a sign...pilates, ballet, and yoga...hmm... I always wanted to be a ballerina, but my parents didn't approve. I was too tall, too clumsy, or too something... Pilates...that was something I always had in the back on my head that I wanted to try ever since I heard it was good for musicians and helped your posture. (My posture could definitely use some help!) At any rate, the class sounded rather intriguing. So I tried it out...several times now. It keeps me coming back for some reason. Again...this is coming from a non-experienced exerciser--but the classes are intense...that is in a good kind of way. I do have to sit out a lot, but I find the more I go the less I sit out. I like the mix. There's some hard core exercises in there. But then there's good stretching. There's a cardio section where I can't figure out where to put this hand or that leg or whatever...as usual, and then there's the slower, more contempletive parts. It's not too new agey for me. And so far, no one's made fun of the fact that I'm quite clueless. There's people of all shapes and sizes. I've even seen a few token guys! Good for them. The instructers are friendly and competent. Anyways, I say we give these new guys on the block (for Austin) a try. read more

It's crazy to say you love something that hurts so bad, but when it comes to exercise if it doesn't burn then it's not worth it. Barre3 is well worth the time and that killer burn. What I like most about this studio is how pleasant it is to be here (when your body isn't shaking from all those tiny, torturous, little presses). The studio is beautiful and the staff is ALWAYS welcoming and inviting. This was a welcome surprise to me considering my previous experiences with boutique studios. They have an app based schedule where you can reserve your spot for the next class or you can drop in if space is available. Every time I go to class I am constantly surprised at the variations and modifications offered by the instructors. My first class was with co-owner Tara, and I was definitely feeling muscles I hadn't felt in a long time. I purchased an unlimited month pass via Groupon in December and I plan to renew once the month is up. I appreciate that there is free garage parking, and there is no need to take anything to class besides a water bottle. Anything that you need - towels, razors, mouth wash, dry shampoo - it's all there. If you want to reserve a class you have to either call or do so online, and be warned that classes tend to fill up quickly, especially on the weekends. Love Barre3! read more

I came here for a class today as part of a Yelp event. So fun!! I usually do yoga around town, but this was my first barre class. I was a little bit worried about how well I would be able to keep up, and it sounded like this was everyone else's thought too... but we all did great. Kim and Tara, plus Aurora (the owners/partners), all worked with us individually and as a group to tailor the session to our abilities. We were offered modifications as necessary, and encouraged to listen to our bodies. I most enjoyed learning about how the owners started the studio/brand around their pregnancies. The conversation came up after class because I mentioned how smart it was to have a childcare option on-site, and Tara told me they basically created it out of their own necessity. I feel extra-excited about supporting a mom-owned local business, and will definitely be back. read more

My favorite workout ever! I have been going to this studio for 4+ years (multiple times per week), and I never get sick of it! I love the mind/body connection they create throughout every class! And even if I go to a class exhausted and in a bad mood, I leave there feeling refreshed, positive, and motivated with a clear mind! I always appreciate having the fans on during the workouts! All of the moves are challenging but accessible and the instructors are great about suggesting modifications to make things harder or easier. I also love that they always take the time after the workout to lead a good stretch even if it makes running a little over. Barre3 has literally transformed not just my body, but my life. I have tried every barre studio there is in Austin but Barre3 has been my home away from home for over a year now. It has everything- a play lounge for my son, locker room, shower, FREE water (experienced Barre goers, you get it,) free parking, and access to town lake. However the BEST part of Barre3 is that EVERY class is different. The instructors all have different techniques and routines so my body doesn't become complacent. Last night I attended a Barre3 class and let me tell you, today I feel like a new person--a person who is sore everywhere and takes a little longer to move around, but a person who, besides the unwavering pain in my butt, feels wonderful! This was my first time taking a Barre3 class and it won't be my last. My weekly workouts are usually filled with a bit of cardio combined with a few hot yoga classes, so I thought I would do well in a class that combines yoga, pilates and ballet (I was a little nervous about the ballet part). However, once the upbeat music started playing and the energetic instructor began the first set, I knew this class was going to kick my butt (in a good way). I used muscles that I haven't used since my highschool workouts--legs, arms, glutes, abs, we worked them all! This was the most effective one-hour workout session I have ever done. I will definitely be working at least one or two of these classes into my weekly workouts. The studio I visited is located in Downtown Austin nestled below a few high-rise condos. There is convenient free garage parking near the studio, which makes the trip downtown less stressful. The studio itself is really nice and clean. They have all of the items you need for the workout--small hand weights, towels, mats and workout balls. They even offer childcare for when you are in your class--I don't have children, but I thought this was a great benefit for moms. All-in-all I highly recommend Barre3 to anyone! read more

I don't have enough good things to say about barre3 and the Austin studio. I recently moved out of the area, and I miss it every day. The teachers are incredibly welcoming and friendly. By my second class, they knew my name, and they greet me by such when I enter the studio. They are super supportive, encourage you to work to your own push point, and help you modify if you have injuries or are pregnant (neither of which apply to me, but they ask at the beginning of each class). The class itself is very challenging. I am an athletic person and work out almost every day (cardio, strength training, and yoga). Nonetheless, I still got (and embrace!) the "shakes and quakes" every class. My arms and abs are noticeably more defined since I started. Even so, the class is not so hardcore that you need to take time off between classes; I attended almost every day and didn't feel exhausted the next day. The studio is new, clean, and has lots of natural sunlight. It was pleasant to walk into whenever I arrived. They also provide child care, which seems like a plus for those who would need it. I had such a wonderful time that I'm continuing barre3 workouts in my new town, and have recruited friends here to join me. They love it too, and want to do it every day! Go as soon as you can. Whew! What a fantastic class! So much fun using a bar, ball, small weights, and the floor to make it all hurt sooo gooood! I guarantee this class will you better in the sack; so much concentration on the abs, ass, and thighs! I highly recommend it. Just like I had expected, the next couple days my muscles were taking the hit from that Barre class. The instructors were super motivational. For the next 60 minutes, my body was sectioned into pieces and muscles were micro toned. I felt my body shaking like a private earthquake, and I knew I'd feel my body transforming itself, one micro muscle at at time for the next couple days. Barre 3:: Ballet barre meets yoga and Pilates with a tiny tiny hint of dance. Pure genius! Although I live in NW ATX, I will happily make the drive downtown for Barre 3 at the Gables. Parking is free in the garage, which is nice. The studio is clean and simple, and always smells great upon entry. There are restrooms, one which I know has a shower, as well as products and amenities us ladies appreciate (you know what I'm sayin'). They also have child care for a small fee, which I would appreciate, if I was a parent. There is a small space to store your belongings right outside the studio. I have been to classes taught by Tara and Cheyenne; AND both classes were very different! I love this; fights boredom when you do not know what to expect next. The teachers offer a thorough warm-up and cool-down, as well as many modifications to take it up OR down a notch. They are encouraging and motivating, and offer slight personal adjustments also. There are sequences on the floor (standing), on the mat, and plenty at the barre. And let me tell you, there was a WHOLE lotta shakin' goin' on!!! I think that their prices are comparable to any yoga/Pilates/Barre studio. I really love this studio and I will definetly be back! read more

I have some experience with yoga but was super excited to do something with a new twist. My first visit to Barre 3 was through a YELP event. The instructor was very pumped and led participants through the ballet/Pilates/yoga infusion. Though I had fun in the class I would not suggest these classes for someone who is not already active. I think Barre classes would be great for someone who is fit and just trying to remain toned. I love Barre3! By far my favorite barre studio I've been too, and I've tried a lot! I love their method and feel like I get a great workout each and every time. Many times I don't break much of a sweat which is nice because I don't have to worry about showering if I'm going to work or somewhere afterward. Free parking, easy to get to, and a nice, fully stocked bathroom are perks! I've done their online classes too which are also great! I fell in love with barre workouts after a friend introduced me last year. I wanted to try all the barre studios in Austin so that I make sure to find one that's the perfect fit for me, regardless of distance. I visited their studio on their grand opening and was welcomed and greeted by their staff. They didn't ask about any injuries I may have, but as soon as I mentioned I have lower back problems, they were more than helpful on helping me modify and correct my posture in class. Having assistants in the room was a big help, because if they weren't there, I am not sure how attentive the teacher would have been due to how big class is. Overall, I found it a little easy, except for the legs section. However, I need to remind myself to take it easy due to my lower back injury. You cannot go wrong with an excellent location, friendly staff, available parking in the garage, and on-site childcare. I would definitely come back again. read more

Burns so good! Barre 3 is fabulous for any woman, in shape or not. I (a first timer) was able to break a sweat but the nature of the workout allows you to push yourself as hard, or not, as you please. The instructors are all very passionate about what they do which makes it even more fun. I would definitely recommend you try it at least once! read more
