I think Barre truly has great benefits for the mind and body. It is an intense workout and requires focus, as the movements are very controlled. You are working so hard, the class time flies by! Every class ends with breath work and I always leave feeling calm and refreshed. It uses moves from pilates, yoga, and ballet. There are also props, such as bands and weights incorporated into the moves. It seems that many of the instructors have formal dance training backgrounds. They are all high energy and very motivating. The music is always really good as well. One star off for cost. The memberships are pricey, but I believe they do a sale twice a year. read more

I love barre3 for a low impact, intense, modifiable workout. Classes are structured as a light cardio warm up, combo legs and upper body, lower body, abs, and short recovery in either 45 or 60 minute segments. If there is something that doesn't work for you, the instructors are always available to help with an alternative. The studio uses MindBody for scheduling, which makes purchasing classes easy, and they offer sales or discounts through the year. This studio has one classroom, one locker room with a single stall restroom and a single stall shower with shampoo and soap, as well as a single restroom with changing table and shower. Both the locker room and the restroom have towels available. There's also ample coat hooks and storage cubbies for shoes and personal items. You are asked not to take your phone into the classroom. There is a water cooler for refilling your water bottle, and all props are provided - just show up in your workout gear and go to town. read more

This was the first barre3 studio I'd visited. I'd taken classes at PureBarre before so I thought I knew what I was getting into...but I was wrong. barre3 is more focused on a blend of yoga, Pilates and dance. I'm a really uncoordinated person and therefore, not very graceful. When I found out that we'd be facing a mirror for a lot of class, I was a little concerned. We started with what felt like a dance warm up and spent a lot of time in the center and not at the barre. That being said, it was a really solid workout. I was shaking and my muscles were burning long before class ended. The studio is in a shopping plaza, which means plenty of parking. Once inside, it felt like a standalone place. Complete with locker rooms, showers and places to store your stuff, in addition to someone at the front counter, you could rest assured that you didn't have to worry about your personal items during class. Barre socks were not required as the floor has some texture built in. They provided weights, mats and balls. I forget my instructor's name (it was a Sunday afternoon class), but she was wonderful. High energy, informative and helpful throughout class. She also wore a microphone so you could hear her over the music, which was really helpful for me. The class went by quickly and despite my worry over looking like a fool, everyone seemed pretty focused on themselves so that helped me get over my awkwardness during class. Now that I've been to both the UA and Powell location, and had great experiences at both, I feel confident in telling you to give them a visit sometime! read more

Katie's Barre3 class kicked my butt. I wanted to wait until the next day to give my review so I can see how my body is feeling, and I can definitely say that even though I can barely walk, my body will thank me later for attending the class. I'll start from the beginning. This Barre3 is in a cute area in Upper Arlington with a lot of shops and a lot of parking. The space is beautiful with cubbies, locker rooms, multiple bathrooms and even a shower! Everything was so clean and prestine. They also have a space for kids to play, which I found adorable even though I don't have kids. Katie was warm and welcoming and made sure to learn our names, which I found to be super charming. The workout was simple, but boy did they work your muscles. There were a lot of squats and small, but effective, movements. The time flew by, but within the first 5 minutes, my legs were quivering. The workouts really targeted small muscles and focused on parts of my body that I don't really think about. The music was great and really took your mind off of the searing pain all over your body. But in all honesty, it was an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend! read more

I usually shy away from group fitness classes, but in my postpartum state of cardio insufficiency, barre3 met my exercise needs of core building, strength training, stretching, and heart pumping. I bought an intro package of 3 classes for $30, a major bargain. The instructors are welcoming and supportive, and I did not feel awkward as a newbie. The movements are low-impact, no gear required, and everything can be adapted to your comfort/coordination level while still getting a good workout. The hour-long class goes by quickly, and the variety of movements changes from class to class. I particularly like how stretching and breathing are parts of the class, and I leave feeling relaxed and slightly sweaty. The day after is sore, but good-sore and not debilitating-pain-sore. Scheduling is online and easy, and I've gotten off the waitlist quickly. There are shower and childcare facilities, but I haven't tried either yet. Regardless, I've purchased a 10-pack and plan to keep coming back! read more

I will start by saying I have always hated working out. I have tried just about every type of exercise and class out there but always ended up quitting after a week and gave up. That was until I tried Barre3! A friend of mine that has been going to Barre3 classes consistently for 6 months recommended it to me (after I asked her what workout she was doing because she looked great). We went to a class together and everyone in the studio was very welcoming. The staff gave me a quick tour, asked me if I had injuries or pain points, and explained everything very clearly. The studio and locker/bathrooms are very clean and nice. I would never normally shower in a public gym but I would at Barre3. They have hairdryers and name brand beauty products to use too if you forget something at home. I throughly enjoyed my first class. We started with a step warm up, then did various small movement leg exercises, brought in small arm movements, then finished with core and ab exercises before having a yoga-like cool down. All while moving between the barre, standing and mats on the floor. I really felt like I worked out every part of my body evenly. The time flew by during class and I was shocked that an hour had passed by so quickly. All of the instructors at Barre3 are incredibly nice and encouraging. They always offer modifications and don't make you feel bad for using them. They only use positive reinforcement and encourage you to listen to your body and take breaks when you need them. Everyone that works there seems happy to be there and genuinely excited to have new people in their class. It was not at all intimidating coming in as a complete beginner. After my 3rd or 4th class, instructors started remembering my name and things I had told them about my workout goals. I was sore for almost a week after the first class. The manager from Barre3 emailed me and asked how my first class went and if I had any questions or feedback. This wasn't a mass/automatic email, it was directly to me and seemed personal. My friend told me they also wrote her a handwritten thank you card and gave her a free class for bringing me. I was very impressed to say the least. I've done about 20 classes now and can't see myself giving up on Barre3 anytime soon. I never thought I would become addicted to a workout but I'm hooked! I feel stronger and healthier than ever and love the positive vibes at the Barre3 studio :) read more

After my first visit to barre3, I wasn't sure if it was the right place for me. Most of this stemmed from my own insecurities - everyone in the class seems put together & coordinated, whereas I resemble Bambi in that scene with the frozen pond. Even though I felt like a bit of an idiot, I keep going because I really enjoy the workout and now I am completely hooked. All of the instructors are amazing and make you feel very powerful - even if you are about to pass out from moving "just an inch". The workouts are intense, and it seems they get harder as your form gets better. It feels like every pose or new move still targets my entire body. There might be a little bit of a break for my arms while doing squats, but I know hand weights are just around the corner. Oh, and we still do squats while getting the hand weights in. My favorite part about barre3 is the sense of community. You know how great you feel when you've had a couple (way too many) drinks and the girl in the bathroom compliments your outfit and you are best friends for those 4 minutes? Thats how I feel about the b3 community. I might not recognize you in line at Kroger, but when we made accidental eye contact during reverse seated chair and silently told each other, "you got this!" with our eyes, we knew we had each other's back. read more

I always get a great workout at Barre 3. The staff is always very nice. Barre 3 is basically low impact aerobics with lots of squats and limited amount of floor work. The price for unlimited classes is $160 per month which is not cheap, but the fitness classes at LA fitness where I am a member, other than spinning are crap. The sun should come out consistently in Columbus by May 1st and I will be able to resume outdoor recreation. read more

This place is generally great -- very strong good first impression from my initial call to my first class. I tried to reserve a spot but class was full, so I showed up 15 minutes early just in case and the receptionist was super nice and got me in. The classes are consistent, which I appreciate, and provide a great workout. The instructors almost always have a lot of energy and many took the time to learn my name. The only class I did not like was a late morning Saturday class -- it was very warm out and the ventilation wasn't working well. The floor was still sticky from the last class and the instructor had a hard time cleaning up between classes. But that only happened once. Unfortunately, I stopped going during the pandemic and did a few of the on demand classes before developing my own home workout routine. However, if you're looking for a decent barre workout in the Upper Arlington area, this is a solid place. read more

I took my first class at Barre3 when it first opened and have been a client ever since. They have so many classes, so I can always find time to exercise despite my busy schedule. ALL the instructors are warm and friendly and the studio makes you feel welcome whether it is your first or fiftieth class. The clients are great too - people are really nice and always smiling at you or making conversations before class. One of the best parts of Barre3 - besides the killer workout - is the non judgmental environment. The instructors and clients are not decked out in the latest lululemon apparel, so you don't feel uncomfortable donning your cotton sweats and tank top! read more

I fell in love with this studio when it opened in October 2012. The staff was friendly, warm and welcoming and has only grown more as a beautiful and inspiring community in itself. The class itself uses upbeat music to get you through "one-inch" movements that will leave you SHAKING, and ends with you leaving class feeling a little lighter (both mentally and physically). It's a mix of yoga and Pilates moves, using the ballet barre to achieve balance, length and grace. I'm more toned than I've ever been and look forward to many more classes! read more

I was in Columbus for the weekend and found this studio through Yelp- I've never done a barre class before, but have always wanted to try one. Coming from downtown it was an easy 10 minute drive with no trouble finding parking. I arrived about 15 minutes before the class began, checked in and was given a quick tour of the studio, introduced to the instructor and was helped to set up everything I would need for the class (all of which they provide, you need only to bring a water bottle). The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming. I took Whitney's class and loved the upbeat playlist and pace. It was easy to follow along with the exercises, and questions are welcomed and assistance is given at any time. It was such a great, fun way to get a workout in. I really can't say enough about this studio and will absolutely be back the next time I'm in town! read more

I loved taking the Barre 3 classes but I now have a permanent injury so I want to make anyone who is thinking of taking Barre 3 aware of what happened to me. Classes are barefoot unless you wear thinly padded slippers or use the square pads they have. With no warning 2 of my toes (two on my right foot and one on my left foot ) went numb after about 6 months of class. So many exercises are done on the balls of feet in a turned out position. I also found I could no longer sit with my legs crossed on the floor. Again, my body never put off any pain signals or I would have stopped. I ended up going to PT and they strengthened my glutenous medius. 3 years later my toes are still numb and I was told it is now permanent. I wish wearing shoes had been an option from the beginning. I only recall seeing one guy wearing them one time and they said they made an exception for him for some reason. Just an FYI--I did between 3 and 4 classes a week. Loved the way it felt..but now, probably the rest of my life I'll have this numbness which feels like frostbite or wearing shoes that are too tight..all the time. read more

I first came to this barre studio after moving from NYC to Columbus last month. I had a few favorite barre studios in New York, so I was happy when I found this place that I love just as much! I came here after seeing it on yelp and fell in love right away. Everyone who works here, including the instructor, are so nice and welcoming. The teachers are also super helpful during class. It is a bit different than other barre classes I've been to, so having the teacher help with new moves was great. Both classes I took were very challenging and I could definitely feel that it was working (especially the next day!) I'm so glad that I found a place to workout that I genuinely enjoy coming to. You must try this! Wonderful studio, welcoming instructors, and fantastic workout. The Barre3 format strengthens muscle groups ordinarily missed in group classes. It's intense and the instructors pay careful attention and correct form to prevent injury. I've been really impressed with how careful they are and how much individual attention they pay to each student. I popped in here on a whim on ClassPass when I was in town for a few days, and LOVED IT. Best barre class I've been to. The studio was clean and welcoming, the class size was small, and Kelsey, the instructor, was great. One of the great things about barre3 is that they give you the option of taking class barefoot, instead of asking you to buy their grippy socks. Makes me think they clean their floors more often, too (kidding, but actually the floor *was* clean compared to a lotta other fitness studios). Anyway, I encourage you to check out this barre studio. I am trying out class pass this month and went here for my first time solely because the class time happened to fit my schedule. I was VERY pleased with my experience here. The class was a combination of pilates and barre - it was a hard work out but had good modifications if you were a beginner. The studio itself is clean and cute.
